This article discusses the possibilities for using ethnographic methods as part of the literacy curriculum at all levels of the education system. It presents a view of ethnography as a research approach with potential as a learning resource, encouraging reflection and theorizing about literacy in which teachers and students can engage together. It draws on experiences from further and adult education, higher education and professional development courses, and family literacy programmes, as well as school-based learning.  相似文献

伴随我国经济社会的转型与发展,社会各行各业对专业技术人才的需求量也越来越大,这对中职学校人才的培养提出了更高的要求。但是,我国不少中职学校的教师在核心素养上还存在一些缺陷和不足,尤其是服装专业,由于一直以来该专业受到的重视度不够,教师的核心素养与能力也无法得到有效提升。为了改善服装专业的教学质量,学校必须加强对该专业教师核心素养的提升。实践证明,通过开展信息化教学大赛,可在一定程度上提升教师的核心素养。本课题针对中职校信息化教学大赛提升服装专业教师核心素养进行了分析和研究。  相似文献

为了量化分析食品安全对健康素养干预效果的影响,进行干预效果的量化建模分析,提出一种基于统计分析方法的食品安全对健康素养干预效果影响因素的建模模型,构建食品安全对健康素养干预的统计数据采样模型,对采样的大数据结合人体健康生理特征监控方法进行信息建模,采用大数据信息融合方法进行食品安全与人体健康素养的关联性评估,结合模糊决策方法构建二者的关联决策模型,采用区域分布性检验分析方法进行回归分析,实现食品安全对健康素养干预效果影响因素的量化分析,结合面板数据回归分析结果,实现统计信息分析和大数据建模,提高量化分析能力。食品安全对健康素养干预效果影响具有显著性,该模型分析结果准确可靠。  相似文献

The mass media, including broadcast, electronic, and print media, have become entrenched in Canadians' daily lives. Spending the majority of their leisure time with mass media puts Canadians at increased health risk. Our review of the research literature shows that television (TV) viewing and content are linked to potential consumer health risks due to developed health attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours. The associated health risks of children and youth are of particular concern. Excessive TV viewing has been associated with obesity development, increased energy consumption, reduced energy expenditure, negative body image development, and reduced concern with the concept of self-care. Media literacy, the ability to view critically and understand mediated messages, is a possible technique to mitigate these adverse effects. The enhanced inclusion of media literacy concepts in health education activities of dietetic practice is advocated. Dietitians could increase their understanding of research findings on the health-related effects of mass media use and the implications of including media literacy in daily practice. Such awareness would further augment available health promotion strategies.  相似文献

Zionist education is a manifestation of the efficiency of the violence of colonising education which for a century was targeted at internal (Jewish) communities, their memories and interests, as well as at the identity, memories, narratives and fortunes of external rivals. The current change in the stance of the Hebrew language reflects social, cultural and political transformations, which determine the end of Zionism. The paper presents a critical reconstruction of new literacies in Israel. The production of the new literacies does not reflect enhancement of reflective competence or the empowering of emancipatory sensitivity and responsibility. On the contrary, it serves and reflects the logic of the market, and its changing needs within the framework of a post-modern culture industry. The possibility of a non-repressive literacy is addressed within the framework of a counter-education, which does not disregard the new possibilities and limitations set by the post-modern reality.  相似文献

Tire-wear particles as a source of zinc to the environment   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Tire-tread material has a zinc (Zn) content of about 1 wt %. The quantity of tread material lost to road surfaces by abrasion has not been well characterized. Two approaches were used to assess the magnitude of this nonpoint source of Zn in the U.S. for the period 1936-1999. In the first approach, tread-wear rates from the automotive engineering literature were used in conjunction with vehicle distance-driven data from the U.S. Department of Transportation to determine Zn releases. A second approach calculated this source term from the volume of tread lost during lifetime tire wear. These analyses showed that the quantity of Zn released by tire wear in the mid-1990s was of the same magnitude as that released from waste incineration. For 1999, the quantity of Zn released by tire wear in the U.S. is estimated to be 10 000-11 000 metric tons. A specific case study focused on Zn sources and sinks in an urban-suburban watershed (Lake Anne) in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area for a time period of the late 1990s. The atmospheric flux of total Zn (wet deposition) to the watershed was 2 microg/cm2/yr. The flux of Zn to the watershed estimated from tire wear was 42 microg/cm2/yr. The measured accumulation rate of total Zn in age-dated sediment cores from Lake Anne was 27 microg/cm2/yr. These data suggest that tire-wear Zn inputs to urban-suburban watersheds can be significantly greater than atmospheric inputs, although the watershed appears to retain appreciable quantities of vehicular Zn inputs.  相似文献

The article presents an investigation of teachers teaching reading and their teaching methods by comparing the results of two studies. The first one was a reading achievement study encompassing 31 countries, conducted by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) in 1989/90. The second one was a 1993 Hungarian reading achievement study. Both studies also collected data about the elementary teachers of the students involved. Both in Hungary and in other countries, the majority of elementary reading teachers are women. The reading patterns of elementary teachers vary by country, but they typically read a lot, principally narratives and professional literature. The length of time spent teaching is related to the method of reading instruction: older teachers prefer the code-orientated method to the meaning-orientated one. According to the two studies the efficiency of reading instruction depends not on the methods of beginners' reading instruction, but rather on the sociocultural characteristics of the student and their school.  相似文献

公务员的媒介素养,主要来自其对新闻媒体属性与社会功能的现实体认。当媒体主要体现为意识形态的推进工具时,公务员的媒介素养呈现为以意识形态为主导的单一结构;当媒体双重属性被认同后,媒介素养则是兼顾信息属性、政治属性与经济属性的复合型结构。目前我国公务员媒介素养正由单一型结构向复合型结构过渡,许多问题由此而来。这种过渡与媒介素养重构从三个方面可见。  相似文献

There exists a wide chasm between public opinion and scientific evidence on the safety of genetically engineered food, herein referred to as GMOs. Plant biotechnologists give credit to a small community of activists negatively influencing individual minds on this issue, but this approach neglects other social contexts in which such cognition operates. The author argues here that current public opinion on GMOs is a manifestation of the constant interaction between environmental, behavioral, and cognitive influences on this issue. In order to sway public opinion and be consistent with social learning theory, biotechnology advocates and plant scientists will need to move beyond their recognized expertise in order to rework the argument for GMOs in the modern‐day food supply, one that wholly embraces an individual‐level framing of the debate, tantamount to other successful professional trends like patient‐centered medicine. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Important increases in the rates of inbreeding have recently been observed in dairy cattle populations, and methods have been proposed to address these increases. The aims of this study were to estimate the current level and rates of inbreeding in the UK Holstein population and to investigate the potential of applying optimized selection to manage the rates of inbreeding. Inbreeding coefficients were calculated for the entire UK Holstein population using 1940 as the base year. Rates of inbreeding were obtained for 3 time periods by regressing mean inbreeding coefficients on the year of birth of the animals. The expected average pedigree index and expected inbreeding of offspring using optimized contributions for a given set of selection candidates was compared to the expected pedigree index and inbreeding of offspring for the same set of selection candidates using observed contributions. The rate of inbreeding in the UK Holstein population has increased substantially since 1990 when compared to previous time periods. This increase is most likely due to the large influence of a few related sires on the breed in the mid- to late 1980s. The introduction of the individual animal model in the early 1990s may also have contributed to increased inbreeding. Optimized selection appears to represent a promising selection tool, not only to manage rates of inbreeding, but also to increase genetic gain at the same rate of inbreeding.  相似文献

There are signs that English teaching - for much of the century absolutely central to the literacy project of State-sponsored schooling - may be in decline. This is something that can only become apparent in the course of history, as the new century generates its own distinctive educational forms and practices. Certainly, 'English' will continue to be taught and studied in the foreseeable future, with the English subjects remaining a significant part of the formal school curriculum. However, perhaps we are witnessing a major shift in what might be called the educational capital of English teaching and, hence, the effective, although always pending, end of the English 'empire'. This article addresses such issues and debates in the context of national and international shifts and movements in educational policy and curriculum politics, in relation to the wider Australian context of the 1990s.  相似文献

This article draws on data collected as part of the Fact and Fiction Research Project, based at the Centre for Language in Education, Southampton University and funded by the ESRC 1996-98. The project was set up to explore the gender differentiation of reading in the primary years, in the light of boys' under-achievement in English. It focused on the 7-9-year age group, as this is where children begin to develop as independent readers, and concentrated on their use of fact and fiction texts in different social settings. Data was collected in four different primary schools, chosen to reflect contrasts in the social background of their intake. The article has two main aims: (i) to provide analytic tools for tracking variation in literacy practices across sites through a systematic focus on the elements present within particular literacy events; and (ii) to show the relevance of this approach to understanding gender differentiation within the literacy curriculum and its consequent impact on levels of achievement.  相似文献

Abstract

Since the mid-1990s, China has become the leading exporter worldwide of manufactured textiles and clothing. For Nigeria, one of China’s major trading partners in Africa, increased imports of Chinese textiles are related to the decline of the Nigerian textile manufacturing industry. It also reflects the opening up of China to foreign investment and the subsequent boom in manufactured textile exports and to changes in World Trade Organization textile agreements. This paper examines these changes in textile manufacture and trade, focusing first on twentieth-century Chinese and Nigerian textile manufacturing histories and their subsequent divergence, beginning in the 1980s and continuing into the early twenty-first century. The increase in Chinese-Nigerian textile trade became physically evident in Nigeria in the late 1990s, with Chinese textile companies setting up offices in Lagos and Kano, and Nigerian traders and businessmen setting up offices in Guangzhou, China. The question of how increased shipments of Chinese manufactured textiles have been organized by Chinese company representatives, brokers, and traders, as well as by Nigerian traders and businessmen to meet Nigerian consumer demand is then addressed. Finally, this growth in textile trade is considered in the context of Chinese-Nigerian plans for the building of a Free Trade Zone in Lagos, which would include the construction of a new textile mill. The paper concludes by considering whether this collaboration may lead to a revival of the Nigerian textile industry.  相似文献
