Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has become a very popular method for high data rate wireless communications because of its advantages over single carrier modulation schemes on multipath, frequency selective fading channels. However, intercarrier interference, due to Doppler frequency shifts, and multipath fading severely degrade the performance of OFDM systems. Estimation of channel parameters is required at the receiver. In this paper, we present a channel modeling and estimation method based on the time-frequency representation of the received signal. The discrete evolutionary transform provides a time-frequency procedure to obtain a complete characterization of the multipath, fading, and frequency selective channels. Simulations are used to illustrate the performance of the proposed procedure and to compare it with other time-varying channel estimation techniques.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of channel estimation for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems with time-varying multipath fading channels. The multipath fading channels are modeled as autoregressive (AR) models. A method is first proposed to convert the time-varying regression model due to the time-varying nature of users' information symbols into a time-invariant one. Then, a polynomial approach is proposed to obtain the minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimator. The uncertainty of the channel model and decision errors of the DS-CDMA detector are taken into consideration in the design of the MMSE estimator. Compared with the Kalman estimator, the computational complexity of the proposed algorithm is much lower. The simulation results show that the proposed estimator provides a comparable estimation performance with the Kalman estimator and is robust for fast-fading channels.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a novel joint algorithm to estimate the symbol timing and carrier frequency offsets of wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. To jointly estimate synchronization parameters using the maximum likelihood (ML) criterion, researchers have derived conventional models only from additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) or single-path fading channels. We develop a general ML estimation algorithm that can accurately calculate symbol timing and carrier frequency offsets over a fast time-varying multipath channel. To reduce overall estimation complexity, the proposed scheme consists of two estimation stages: coarse and fine synchronizations. A low complexity coarse synchronization based on the least-squares (LS) method can rapidly estimate the rough symbol timing and carrier frequency offsets over a fast time-varying multipath channel. The subsequent ML fine synchronization can then obtain accurate final results based on the previous coarse synchronization. Simulations demonstrate that the coarse-to-fine method provides a good tradeoff between estimation accuracy and computational complexity.  相似文献

在多输入多输出(MIMO)-正交频分复用(OFDM) 系统中,怎样在较高频谱利用率的情况下对快时变信道进行较为准确的估计是一个具有挑战性的课题。该文在利用压缩感知理论可提高系统频谱利用率的基础上,提出了一种适合于快时变环境下MIMO-OFDM 系统的稀疏自适应信道估计方法。该方法不再受到奈奎斯特采样频率条件约束,避免了传统导频辅助信道估计方法频谱利用率低的缺点。该文方法通过构建多天线群时频结构特征稀疏基,利用多天线间和群时变OFDM符号内信道冲激响应具有更强稀疏性的特点,对MIMO-OFDM快衰落信道进行稀疏变换。由于实际MIMO-OFDM快衰落信道往往处于频率选择性、时变性和多种干扰并存的复杂环境,受到干扰的信道参数对系统而言是未知,采用该方法克服了现有基于压缩感知理论的信道估计方法需要预先知道信道冲激响应稀疏度才能重构信道参数的不足,在信道稀疏度未知道的情况下,运用稀疏自适应的方法来对不同时频结构特征的信道参数进行估计。仿真结果表明所提估计方法具有对快时变信道参数估计的鲁棒性和较高频谱利用率,且均方误差小。   相似文献

Blind estimation of time-varying (TV), rapidly fading channels is addressed, using a basis expansion approach. Each TV coefficient is expanded onto a basis and the expansion parameters are estimated for subsequent use in Viterbi or decision-feedback equalizers. Blind estimation of the expansion parameters is accomplished using higher order statistics. Identifiability of the channel is shown from second and fourth-order TV cumulants of the received signal. A cumulant matching criterion is adopted and instantaneous approximations are proposed in place of the nonstationary ensembles. Linear methods are also derived to initialize the nonlinear optimization procedure. Strong convergence of the proposed method is established. This paper presents a novel receiver design from signal processing viewpoint for direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems under multipath fading channels. A robust adaptive decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) is developed by using optimal filtering technique via minimizing the mean-square error (MSE). The multipath fading channels are modeled as tapped-delay-line filters, and the tap coefficients are described as Rayleigh distributions in order to imitate the frequency-selective fading channel. Then, a robust Kalman filtering algorithm is used to estimate the channel responses for the adaptation of the proposed DFE receiver under the situation of partially known channel statistics. The feedforward and feedback filters are designed by using not only the estimated channel responses but the uncertainties and error covariance of channel estimation as well. As shown in the computer simulations, the proposed adaptive DFE receiver is robust against the estimation errors and modeling dynamics of the channels. Hence, it is very suitable for receiver design in data transmissions through multipath fading channels encountered in most wireless communication systems  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel fuzzy channel estimator for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access systems with time-varying multipath fading channels under impulsive noise. The proposed estimator combines a least-squares channel estimator with a fuzzy median filter which is based on fuzzy rank ordering of samples. Simulation results clearly show the superior channel estimation success of the proposed estimator under highly impulsive noise.  相似文献

In order to attain near-single user performance in uplink multicarrier code- division multiple-access (MC-CDMA) systems, multiuser detection (MUD) methods may be employed which rely on simultaneous estimation of the channel frequency responses of multiple users. Pilot symbol assisted (PSA) channel estimation is needed in fast fading channels and it can be performed either by applying maximum likelihood (ML) criterion or minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) criterion. The performance of ML estimation technique degrades significantly in the case of fractionally spaced (FS) multipath channels where dominant paths are closely spaced with respect to the time resolution of the system. In such situation, the number of effective paths (which contribute more towards signal power) becomes considerably less than the actual number of multipaths at low and moderate SNR values. We propose an improved ML estimation method which considers only effective paths during the estimation process. The proposed method performs nearly identical to the MMSE estimation method and it can also provide significant reduction in the computational complexity when a large number of users are accommodated in the system.  相似文献

We propose a new scheme for pilot-symbol-aided channel estimation in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in multipath fading channels, that does not require knowledge of the channel statistics (e.g., Doppler or power spectrum). It is based on using the radial basis function (RBF) network to model the dynamics of the fading process. Both one-dimensional and two-dimensional RBF networks are proposed to exploit the channel correlation in the time domain and in the time-frequency domain. The proposed RBF networks are essentially nonlinear interpolators of the pilot channels. Compared with the existing OFDM channel estimation methods based on linear filtering, the proposed new techniques offer both robustness to fading rate, and a better performance especially in relatively fast fading channels.  相似文献

A multistep linear prediction (MSLP) approach is presented for blind channel estimation for short-code direct sequence code division multiple access signals in time-varying multipath channels using a receiver antenna array. The time-varying channel is assumed to be described by a complex exponential basis expansion model. First, a recently proposed MSLP approach to blind channel estimation for time-varying single-input multiple-output (SIMO) systems is extended to time-varying multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems to define a "signal" subspace. Second, the knowledge of the spreading code of a desired user is exploited in conjunction with the signal subspace to estimate the time-varying channel of the desired user up to an unknown time-invariant scale factor. Equalization/detection for the desired user can be then carried out if the information sequence is differentially encoded/decoded. Sufficient conditions for channel identifiability are investigated. This paper addresses the problem of high-resolution estimation of a multipath channel delay profile. We propose several improvements to the so-called superresolution pseudo-noise sequence correlation method (SPM) and analyze its performance on time-varying channels. SPM is based on the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm, which requires decorrelation of the multipath echoes. The proposed improvements enable SPM-based delay estimation in the presence of narrowband interference, and they reduce the necessary transmission window while preserving multipath echo decorrelation. In this paper, a novel channel-estimation scheme for an 8-PSK enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE) system with fast time-varying and frequency-selective fading channels is presented. Via a mathematical derivation and simulation results, the channel impulse response (CIR) of the fast fading channel is modeled as a linear function of time during a radio burst in the EDGE system. Therefore, a least-squares-based method is proposed along with the modified burst structure for time-varying channel estimation. Given that the pilot-symbol blocks are located at the front and the end of the data block, the LS-based method is able to estimate the parameters of the time-varying CIR accurately using a linear interpolation. The proposed time-varying estimation algorithm does not cause an error floor that existed in the adaptive algorithms due to a nonideal channel tracking. Besides, the time-varying CIR in the EDGE system is not in its minimum-phase form, as is required for low-complexity reduced-state equalization methods. In order to maintain a good system performance, a Cholesky-decomposition method is introduced in front of the reduced-state equalizer to transform the time-varying CIR into its minimum-phase equivalent form. Via simulation results, it is shown that the proposed algorithm is very well suited for the time-varying channel estimation and equalization, and a good bit-error-rate performance is achieved even at high Doppler frequencies up to 300 Hz with a low complexity.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to develop a new approach-time-frequency deconvolution filter-to optimally reconstruct the nonstationary (or time-varying) signals that are transmitted through a multipath fading and noisy channel. A deconvolution filter based on an ambiguity function (AF) filter bank is proposed to solve this problem via a three-stage filter bank. First, the signal is transformed via an AF analysis filter bank so that the nonstationary (or time-varying) component is removed from each subband of the signal. Then, a Wiener filter bank is developed to remove the effect of channel fading and noise to obtain the optimal estimation of the ambiguity function of the transmitted signal in the time-frequency domain. Finally, the estimated ambiguity function of the transmitted signal in each subband is sent through an AF synthesis filter bank to reconstruct the transmitted signal. In this study, the channel noise may be time-varying or nonstationary. Therefore, the optimal separation problem of multicomponent nonstationary signals is also solved by neglecting the transmission channel  相似文献

We propose new detectors for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (CDMA) signals that outperform known approaches in rapidly fading multipath channels. Multipath compensation in CDMA systems is a problem of significant complexity especially when rapidly fading is afflicting the radio frequency channel. In this work, we depart from typical approaches in search of new kernels that can more accurately characterize the time-varying nature of the estimation problem and focus on a multiresolution representation of the fading processes. The unknown channel time variations are in fact decomposed using optimal unconditional bases in the family of the orthonormal wavelets. We show that it is possible to represent the channel in a reduced-order dimensional space by matching the scattering function of the multipath channel to its decomposition and obtain an approach that is effective in fast fading environments, such as those practically found in macrocell wireless communication applications. We apply this representation to the development of a practical multiscale filter that achieves multiuser separation minimizing a time-averaged squared error. 为了提高在复杂信道环境下正交频分复用(OFDM)信号检测方法的性能,根据OFDM信号的渐进高斯性、自相关性、循环平稳性等特性,提出了一种基于累积量和循环相关值的OFDM信号联合检测方法.在瑞利多径衰落信道下对此方法进行了仿真研究,研究表明此方法能够有效抑制噪声和频率选择性衰落的影响,且弥补了其他方法难以区分高斯信号和OFDM信号这一不足,提高了对OFDM信号的检测率.  相似文献
