Given the lengthy product development lifecycle process, high cost, and low success rate, many firms avoid considering discontinuous innovation strategies, in spite of their increase in frequency and importance in many markets. Even with advances in automation and technology, many of the techniques being utilised in product development are relatively unchanged, and the definition of discontinuous innovation itself lacks a structural component. To address this problem, the authors developed a methodology for generative customisation to implement discontinuous innovation. Using the emerging technologies of generative design and agent-based modelling, the authors developed a methodology to create product inventions and measure product innovations using a complex adaptive system (CAS) model. This appears to be the first model that represents a complex adaptive system environment to measure the success of discontinuous innovation in the development of a market equilibrium agent model.  相似文献

Drawing clear conclusions from the literature on green innovation is challenging, due to its sheer breadth and the inconsistent insights it offers. This study systematically addresses this issue by conducting a systematic literature review of articles on innovation in green products and processes, with the aim of enhancing conceptual clarity and consistency, thus, advancing theory and research. This study reviewed 195 articles relating to both green product and process innovation published during 1991–2016. The articles were analyzed in terms of key attributes of green product and process innovation using content analysis. Based on the analysis, this study identifies the key drivers and consequences, mediators and moderators and develops a conceptual framework of green product and process innovation. It also discusses the limitations and main theories of green innovation literature, and articulates potential paths for future research.  相似文献

After a brief economic and cultural overview, Japan's design strategy is viewed through the example of several major companies visited by the author on a recent trip to Japan. It examines the role of company structure and investment in design to help understand the close links between design, production engineering, research and marketing. Trends in design philosophy are viewed with reference to the emerging “Humanware” approach and the effects of CAD-FMS. Product family design (PFD) is a popular method for increasing product variety to satisfy the needs of diversified markets. With the increasing concern for environmental friendliness in society, more and more companies develop launching remanufactured products and include them in their product families. Therefore, PFD should be considered in a broad decision space where configuration of product variants and remanufacturing are considered simultaneously. However, this issue was not addressed properly in previous research. In this paper, a methodology for joint decision of product configuration and remanufacturing is proposed in which a bi-objective mixed integer programming model is formulated to determine the configurations of both new and remanufactured products for minimising product cost, maximising total market share, and satisfying reliability requirements. Then, Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGAII) is adopted to solve the optimization problem. Computational experiments were conducted and their results show that NSGAII is convergent to the model well. A case study is presented to illustrate the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed methodology.  相似文献

The purpose of this research is to facilitate original equipment manufacturers operating in a single market segment to frame their product line design strategy that pertains to offering right product attributes with right attribute level in the right product profile within a market segment. Through this research, we attempt to establish a link between functional level design of product attributes with commercial objectives of the enterprise. Initially, by deriving the functional importance of product attribute levels of individual product attributes within a product profile, demand and functional importance data are generated. Utilising the function-based cost estimating framework and multi-linear regression methodology, we determine the cost and product development time coefficients for respective product attributes. Finally, a mixed integer quadratic programming-based mathematical formulation is developed that includes maximisation of product premium and minimisation of various costs as major objectives under the assumption that manufacturer seeks to offer optimal number of product profiles within the market segment. Employing the commercial solver LINGO, the integrated framework is solved. The entire framework is illustrated using the operator cabin of heavy construction machinery.  相似文献

With a highly fragmented market and increased competition, platform-based product family design is recognised as an effective method for constructing a product line that satisfies diverse customer demand while keeping design and production cost- and time-effective. Recognising the need for modularity and commonality in platform development, this paper presents a systematic framework to assist in implementing top-down platform and product family design, which aims to achieve system-level modularity for variety generation, and rationalise the commonality configuration for module instantiation. In the first phase of platform development, a robust and flexible product family architecture is constructed to accommodate variations by analysing the external varieties of the generic product architecture, and provide a modularity design space, wherein the design tasks are further decomposed into module instantiation. The second phase of detailed platform development aims to enhance commonality in terms of engineering efficiency by coordinating with the back-end product realisation stage. A tractable optimisation method is used to capture and resolve the trade-off between commonality configuration and individual product performance. A family of power tool designs is used to demonstrate the potential and feasibility of the proposed framework at the system level and detailed design stages.  相似文献

Vision building, pathway construction and experimentation are key processes in the management of long-term sociotechnical transitions. The need to accelerate transitions and to adapt transition management to new country contexts calls for new means to catalyse these processes. We improved the path creation toolsets and procedures of transition management to create more detailed pathways and analyses of pathway step interrelations. Our path creation system uses magnetic elements that could be easily moved around a large metallic board, a set of procedures and a digitalized counterpart of the board for out-of-the-workshop commentary and reporting. The system has facilitated and anchored well the discussions by participants with cross-sectoral backgrounds. Overall, the redesigned system underscores the potential that codesign for sustainability transitions holds.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to help managers early in the design of new product families. Based on product structures, sales forecasts, and constraints imposed by the marketplace, like quality and cost, the proposed method selects the product modules that meet customer requirements for the products, while respecting those constraints. The proposal includes a single-level module design formulation that considers quality and cost simultaneously. The method for testing the proposed algorithm is based on a case study of an electro–mechanical assembly device (headlamp). The performance of the algorithm is compared to that of the zero module case, where often the constraint problem cannot be resolved. The main result is a model and an algorithm that optimise quality and cost under the constraints of quality and cost. It shows what modules to manufacture, in what quantities, and in which products to use them. The output also provides the predicted quality and cost, based on improvements made to the modules. To conclude, this research enables the joint optimisation of quality and cost by defining the modules to be manufactured. It provides input for managers seeking modules designed for their supply chain. The algorithm provides key input for managing production ramp-up.  相似文献

 在分析已有产品平台特点的基础上,将模块化和参数化产品平台统一表示为基于“设计参数”的产品平台,提出了面向可适应性的产品平台设计参数规划方法.引入可适应设计理念,分析了产品平台结构及变型方式;以公理设计理论为指导,进行产品功能要求 设计参数的映射,建立公理设计矩阵;分析各设计参数之间及其与功能要求之间的敏感性,构建设计关联矩阵并对其进行关联度分析;然后通过变型产品关于设计参数的差异度计算,合理识别平台参数和变型参数,确定设计参数在产品平台中的共享策略.通过桥式起重机产品族的柔性配置实例,证明了该方法的可行性和实用性.  相似文献

The development of concepts for new generations of products that are located at the convergence of various cutting-edge technologies requires: integration of knowledge from different fields of science and technology; the management of non-linear interactions of technical, cognitive and organizational nature; the handling of multiple and inconsistent information; innovative solving of negative correlations between different system's characteristics, etc. Despite specialists’ experience, empirical approaches to the synthesis process for this category of products do not represent a reliable solution. An innovative tool for the systematic management of the synthesis process of complex innovative products is introduced in this paper. It is called the complex system design technique (CSDT) and incorporates a set of coefficients and a specific algorithm that take data from product performance planning process (e.g. data extracted from QFD-type matrices) for the formulation of a working scheme for system design (WSSD). This scheme represents a practical tool for the new product synthesis (design) process. It also allows systematic integration of innovation and analysis tools (e.g. TRIZ, AFD, Pugh, Design-FMEA, etc.) in the product synthesis process.  相似文献
