Self‐propelled activated carbon‐based Janus particle micromotors that display efficient locomotion in environmental matrices and offer effective ‘on‐the‐fly’ removal of wide range of organic and inorganic pollutants are described. The new bubble‐propelled activated carbon Janus micromotors rely on the asymmetric deposition of a catalytic Pt patch on the surface of activated carbon microspheres. The rough surface of the activated carbon microsphere substrate results in a microporous Pt structure to provide a highly catalytic layer, which leads to an effective bubble evolution and propulsion at remarkable speeds of over 500 μm/s. Such coupling of the high adsorption capacity of carbon nanoadsorbents with the rapid movement of these catalytic Janus micromotors, along with the corresponding fluid dynamics and mixing, results in a highly efficient moving adsorption platform and a greatly accelerated water purification. The adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms have been investigated. The remarkable decontamination efficiency of self‐propelled activated carbon‐based Janus micromotors is illustrated towards the rapid removal of heavy metals, nitroaromatic explosives, organophosphorous nerve agents and azo‐dye compounds, indicating considerable promise for diverse environmental, defense, and public health applications.  相似文献

Here the first example of a chemically powered micromotor that harvests its energy from the reactions of three different fuels is presented. The new Al/Pd Janus microspheres—prepared by depositing a Pd layer on one side of Al microparticles—are propelled efficiently by the thrust of hydrogen bubbles generated from different reactions of Al in strong acidic and alkaline environments, and by an oxygen bubble thrust produced at their partial Pd coating in hydrogen peroxide media. High speeds and long lifetimes of 200 μm s?1 and 8 min are achieved in strong alkaline media and acidic media, respectively. The ability to autonomously adapt to the presence of a new fuel (surrounding environment), without compromising the propulsion behavior is illustrated. These data also represent the first example of a chemically powered micromotor that propels autonomously and efficiently in alkaline environments (pH > 11) without additional fuels. The ability to use multiple fuel sources to power the same micromotor offers a broader scope of operation and considerable promise for diverse applications of micromotors in different chemical environments.  相似文献

A graphene oxide rolled‐up tube production process is reported using wax‐printed membranes for the fabrication of on‐demand engineered micromotors at different levels of oxidation, thickness, and lateral dimensions. The resultant graphene oxide rolled‐up tubes can show magnetic and catalytic movement within the addition of magnetic nanoparticles or sputtered platinum in the surface of graphene‐oxide‐modified wax‐printed membranes prior to the scrolling process. As a proof of concept, the as‐prepared catalytic graphene oxide rolled‐up micromotors are successfully exploited for oil removal from water. This micromotor production technology relies on an easy, operator‐friendly, fast, and cost‐efficient wax‐printed paper‐based method and may offer a myriad of hybrid devices and applications.  相似文献

Surface‐enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) has attracted increasing attention due to the potential of infrared spectroscopy in applications such as molecular trace sensing of solids, polymers, and proteins, specifically fueled by recent substantial developments in infrared plasmonic materials and engineered nanostructures. Here, the significant progress achieved in the past decades is reviewed, along with the current state of the art of SEIRA. In particular, the plasmonic properties of a variety of nanomaterials are discussed (e.g., metals, semiconductors, and graphene) along with their use in the design of efficient SEIRA configurations. To conclude, perspectives on potential applications, including single‐molecule detection and in vivo bioassays, are presented.  相似文献

Graphene as a substrate for enhancing Raman scattering, called graphene‐enhanced Raman scattering (GERS), has been reported in previous work. Herein, it is found that the “first‐layer effect”, which is widely used to explain the chemical‐enhanced mechanism in surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), exists in the GERS system. The Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) technique is used to construct mono‐ and multilayer ordered aggregates of protoporphyrin IX (PPP). Raman spectra of PPP with different layer numbers of the LB film on graphene are collected. The Raman signal from the first monolayer LB film of PPP has a larger contribution to the Raman enhancement than that from subsequent monolayers. Meanwhile, the Raman enhancement is dependent on the molecular configuration in contact with graphene, in which the functional group of PPP in direct contact with graphene has a stronger enhancement than other groups. These results reveal that GERS is strongly dependent on the distance between graphene and the molecule, which is convincing evidence that the Raman enhancement effect based on graphene belongs to the chemical‐enhanced mechanism. This discovery provides a convenient system for the study of the chemical‐enhanced mechanism and will benefit further understanding of SERS.  相似文献

Novel nanostructured organo‐modified layered materials based on graphene oxide carrying various hydrophilic functional groups (‐NH2, ‐OH, ‐SO3H) are prepared and tested as nanofillers for the creation of innovative graphene‐based Nafion nanocomposites. The hybrid membranes are characterized by a combination of analytical techniques, which show that highly homogeneous exfoliated nanocomposites are created. The pulsed field gradient NMR technique is used to measure the water self‐diffusion coefficients. Remarkable behavior at temperatures up to 140 °C is observed for some composite membranes, thereby verifying the exceptional water retention property of these materials. Dynamic mechanical analysis shows that hybrid membranes are much stiffer and can withstand higher temperatures than pure Nafion.  相似文献

A folding technique is reported to incorporate large‐area monolayer graphene films in polymer composites for mechanical reinforcement. Compared with the classic stacking method, the folding strategy results in further stiffening, strengthening, and toughening of the composite. By using a water–air‐interface‐facilitated procedure, an A5‐size 400 nm thin polycarbonate (PC) film is folded in half 10 times to a ≈0.4 mm thick material (1024 layers). A large PC/graphene film is also folded by the same process, resulting in a composite with graphene distributed uniformly. A three‐point bending test is performed to study the mechanical performance of the composites. With a low volume fraction of graphene (0.085%), the Young's modulus, strength, and toughness modulus are enhanced in the folded composite by an average of 73.5%, 73.2%, and 59.1%, respectively, versus the pristine stacked polymer films, or 40.2%, 38.5%, and 37.3% versus the folded polymer film, proving a remarkable mechanical reinforcement from the combined folding and reinforcement of graphene. These results are rationalized with combined theoretical and computational analyses, which also allow the synergistic behavior between the reinforcement and folding to be quantified. The folding approach could be extended/applied to other 2D nanomaterials to design and make macroscale laminated composites with enhanced mechanical properties.  相似文献

Carbon nanotube (CNT)‐ and graphene (G)‐based transparent conductive films (TCFs) are two promising alternatives for commonly‐used indium tin oxide‐based TCFs for future flexible optoelectronic devices. This review comprehensively summarizes recent progress in the fabrication, properties, modification, patterning, and integration of CNT‐ and G‐TCFs into optoelectronic devices. Their potential applications and challenges in optoelectronic devices, such as organic photovoltaic cells, organic light emitting diodes and touch panels, are discussed in detail. More importantly, their key characteristics and advantages for use in these devices are compared. Despite many challenges, CNT‐ and G‐TCFs have demonstrated great potential in various optoelectronic devices and have already been used for some products like touch panels of smartphones. This illustrates the significant opportunities for the industrial use of CNTs and graphene, and hence pushes nanoscience and nanotechnology one step towards practical applications.  相似文献

Shell‐isolated nanoparticle‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SHINERS), due to its versatility, has been able to break the long‐term limitations of the material‐ and substrate‐specific generalities in the traditional field of surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy. With a shell‐isolated work principle, this method provides an opportunity to investigate successfully in surface, biological systems, energetic materials, and environmental sciences. Both the shell material and core morphology are being improved continuously to meet the requirements in diverse systems, such as the electrochemical studies at single crystal electrode surfaces, in situ monitoring of photoinduced reaction processes, practical applications in energy conversion and storage, inspections in food safety, and the surface‐enhanced fluorescence. Predictably, the concept of shell‐isolated nanoparticle‐enhancement could be expanded to the wider range for the performance of plasmon‐enhanced spectral modifications.  相似文献

The ingenious design of a freestanding flexible electrode brings the possibility for power sources in emerging wearable electronic devices. Here, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) wraps carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and rGO tightly surrounded by MnO2 nanosheets, forming a 3D multilevel porous conductive structure via vacuum freeze‐drying. The sandwich‐like architecture possesses multiple functions as a flexible anode for lithium‐ion batteries. Micrometer‐sized pores among the continuously waved rGO layers could extraordinarily improve ion diffusion. Nano‐sized pores among the MnO2 nanosheets and CNT/rGO@MnO2 particles could provide vast accessible active sites and alleviate volume change. The tight connection between MnO2 and carbon skeleton could facilitate electron transportation and enhance structural stability. Due to the special structure, the rGO‐wrapped CNT/rGO@MnO2 porous film as an anode shows a high capacity, excellent rate performance, and superior cycling stability (1344.2 mAh g−1 over 630 cycles at 2 A g−1, 608.5 mAh g−1 over 1000 cycles at 7.5 A g−1). Furthermore, the evolutions of microstructure and chemical valence occurring inside the electrode after cycling are investigated to illuminate the structural superiority for energy storage. The excellent electrochemical performance of this freestanding flexible electrode makes it an attractive candidate for practical application in flexible energy storage.  相似文献
