The agglomeration process that occurs during annealing of thin Fe films (<200 nm) on Si substrates has been studied. Agglomeration occurred on uncapped films prior to silicide formation. Capping layers of SiO2, or more appropriately Si-SiO2, have been used to minimize agglomeration effects. Continuous thin films of -FeSi2 have been grown on 11 1 and 100 oriented substrates. Preferred growth of (202) and (220) suicide planes on 111 Si has been obtained, while preferential growth was not observed on 100 Si.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibility of high-resistivity CdTeIn and CdTeCl crystals was measured between 4.2 and 300 K. The susceptibility was found to vary anomalously with temperature. Below 50 K, all the samples were paramagnetic. The observed anomalies are interpreted in terms of donor–acceptor pairs formed by native defects and dopant or uncontrolled impurity atoms. The effect of doping on the 300-K is related to the Van Vleck paramagnetic contribution resulting from the local electric fields of XiV Cdand IniV Cddefect complexes. In CdTeCl, this contribution is insignificant.  相似文献

Two casts of type 316L(N) austenitic stainless steel have been solution treated for 1 h at 1070 C, air-cooled, then aged for up to 20 000 h at temperatures between 550 C and 750 C. Grain boundary precipitation of the M23C6 phase occurs, and the Cr composition profile normal to the grain boundaries has been determined at high resolution by an analytical electron microscope. The data have been fitted firstly to collector plate models, which indicated that some of the material was in the process of desensitization, or healing, indicated by a rise in the boundary Cr content. The data were then fitted to a model of the Cr profile as a function of ageing treatment in the healing regime, and a good correlation was obtained.  相似文献

Ductile L20-type wires and+L12-type duplex wires with high strengths and large elongation in the Ni-Al-Fe and Ni-Al-Co ternary systems have been manufactured directly from the liquid state by an in-rotating-water spinning method. The wire diameter was in the range 80 to 180m and the average grain size was 2 to 4m for the wires and 0.2 to 1.0m for the+ wires. y, f and p of the wires were found to be about 360 to 760 MPa, 560 to 960 MPa, and 0.2 to 5.5%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, those of the+ wires were about 395 to 660 MPa, 670 to 1285 MPa, and 3.5 to 17%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, and about 260 to 365 MPa, 600 to 870 MPa, and 4.0 to 7.0%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Co system. Cold-drawing caused a significant increase in y and f and the values attained were about 1850 and 2500 MPa, respectively, for Ni-20Al-30Fe and Ni-25Al-30Co wires drawn to about 90% reduction in area. The high strengths, large elongation and good cold-workability of the melt-quenched and+ compound wires have been inferred to be due to the structural change into a low-degree ordered state containing a high density of phase boundaries, suppression of grain-boundary segregation and refinement of grain size.  相似文献

Influence of pore volume on laser performance of Nd : YAG ceramics   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
For present study, 1.1 at% Nd-doped YAG ceramics with a controlled pore volume (150–930 vol ppm) were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method using high-purity powders. The scattering coefficients of Nd:YAG ceramics, obtained from Fresnel' equation, increased simply with increases in the pore volume. The cw laser output power of Nd:YAG ceramics was clearly related to the scattering coefficients of the specimens examined in the present works, which in turn were affected on the pore volume. The effective scattering coefficients of Nd:YAG ceramics with a pore volume of 150 vol ppm were nearly equivalent to those of a 0.9 at%Nd:YAG single crystal by Czochralski method. As the exciting power was increased under excitation by an 808-nm diode laser, however, the laser output power of the Nd:YAG ceramics exceeded that of the Nd:YAG single crystal because of the fairly large amount of Nd additives. The lasing performance of the Nd:YAG ceramics changed drastically with change in pore volume. On the other hand, lasing performance was not affected by the existence of grain boundaries in the polycrystalline Nd:YAG ceramics.  相似文献

Experiments on silicate liquid phase sintering of YSZ ceramics with addition of 0.5 mol% of rare earth ions have been done in order to study the effect of these ions on the kinetics of grain growth and the expulsion of glass through the grain boundaries. Kinetics follow a third power law in the following order YPr>YPrEr>YY>YEr. The expelled glass does not spread over the ceramic grains and its mass is inversely related to grain size. Glass phase separation inside the grain boundaries is found to be a necessary condition for glass expulsion.  相似文献

An imperfectly B2 ordered Fe3Al aggregate was cast, thermomechanically hot rolled and finally annealed at 870 K. Subsequently, the specimen was rolled at 800–830 K to a strain of 80%. The microstructure and the crystallographic texture of the rolled polycrystalline sample was investigated within the range =20–80%. The microstructure consisted of flat, elongated grains. In numerous grains straight slip lines were detected. Even after =80% recrystallization was not observed. The rolling texture of Fe3Al considerably deviates from that of non-ordered body centered cubic (b.c.c.) alloys and pure b.c.c. metals. The {111}uvw texture fibre (7-fibre) was very pronounced, while the {hkl}110 fibre (-fibre) was very weak. The {112}110 orientation which represents the strongest texture component in non-ordered b.c.c. alloys did not occur at all. The textures are discussed in terms of the {110}111, {112}111, {112}111 and {123}111 slip systems. The contribution of crystallographic slip of the various types of potential slip systems was simulated by means of the Taylor theory.  相似文献

We report on the measurement of the frequency-dependent complex permittivity, ()=()-i(), over the frequency range, 30 MHz to 6 GHz, of silicon wafers and of thin dielectric films formed on silicon. Measurements, as a function of temperature and time treatments, were obtained by means of an HP Network Analyzer and dielectric probe and the resulting ()and()plots for the silicon wafers are shown to have a Debye-type [1] profile, thereby indicating that the associated polarization mechanism is of the orientational variety.  相似文献

The athermal transformation in Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy has been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Analysis of the selected-area diffraction pattern has shown that the orientation relationships between the omega and the parent-phase in quenched Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy are the same as have been previously observed for the reaction in pure zirconium. Thus it was deduced that the direct transition has taken place in the alloy during cooling. The-originated -particles were visualized using the dark-field technique. The formation of the athermal omega in the-region of-stabilized Zr-Nb alloy is discussed in terms of the relative positions of the free energy equilibrium curvesT 0 ,T 0 ,T 0 and the correspondingM s ,M s andT s start curves. It is concluded that the omega phase can occur over a much wider range of alloy compositions than is usually recognized on the basis of transformation data.  相似文献

Martensitic transformations in Ti-Mo alloys   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
A detailed investigation has been made of the structure of alloys of the Ti-Mo system containing up to 10wt% Mo, water-quenched from the-phase region. With increase in molybdenum content, the martensite structure changes from hexagonal () to orthorhombic () at 4 wt% Mo, and at 10 wt% Mo, the structure is completely retained . For alloy compositions <4 wt% Mo, there is a diffusional component in the transformation of the -phase at the quench rates employed. There is a transition, with increase in molybdenum content, in morphology (from massive to acicular) and in substructure (from dislocations to twins). However, the transitions in crystallography, morphology and sub-structure are not directly related to one another except for an abrupt loss of dislocation substructure at the/ transition. The to crystallographic transition has the characteristics of a second order transformation, and evidence has been obtained of the existence of a spinodal within the metastable orthorhombic system. The orthorhombic martensites of Ti-6 and 8 wt% Mo decompose during quenching producing a fine modulated structure within the martensite plates, consistent with a proposed spinodal mode of decomposition.  相似文献

Effect of BaO and SiO2 addition on PTCR BaTiO3 ceramics   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The influence of Ba-excess and liquid phase sintering with SiO2 on the electrical conduction and microstructure in PTCR BaTiO3 has been investigated. Dense (95–96%), small grain (5–10 m) PTCR materials were obtained in Ba-excess (Ba/Ti=1.006) BaTiO3. The materials exhibit low room temperature resistivity RT (100–102 ·cm) and high PTCR respond (more than 5 orders). Solid state sintering was found to inhabit the semiconducting and PTCR behavior in Ba-excess materials. Liquid phase sintering, using SiO2 in the Ba-excess BaTiO3, resulted in low RT and significant PTCR response. Through domain observation, interior Polaron deficient zones were found in samples which exhibit limited liquid phase sintering, leading to non-uniform directional domains and low charge carrier mobility. Proper control of the SiO2 concentration was found critical for obtaining uniform directional domain microstructures and low RT.  相似文献

The thermal expansion coefficient () and isothermal compressibility ( T ) of TlIn1 – x Nd x Se2(0 x 0.08) crystals were measured between 77 and 400 K. In the range 77–160 K, both and T increase with temperature, the increase in being much steeper. At higher temperatures, and T change very little. The observed composition dependences of and T are interpreted in terms of energy-band structure.  相似文献

The strength of a nickel-based superalloy hardened through precipitation is related to the volume fraction, particle size and distribution of the precipitated phase, . These parameters may vary as a result of heat treatment, or high-temperatures service. The information obtained, describing the influence of time and temperature on the precipitated phase, , is of special importance owing to its technological application at high temperatures. Dissolution or precipitation kinetics are such that the volume-fraction balance of the phase is quickly established at an ageing temperature given by successive changes due only to the particle growth. The results of the present study describe heat-treatment effects on size and distribution of the phase, and precipitated carbides ageing of a nickel-based superalloy (IN-713C). These on ageing studies at a certain temperature show that the kinetic growth of particles by controlled diffusion follows that r t 1/3 law.  相似文献

We studied the low-temperature energy gap 2 0 on Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 o 8+ (Bi2212) and La 2–x Sr x CuCO 4 (La214) systematically over a wide range of doping level p using STS, break junction tunneling spectroscopy, Raman scattering and low-T electronic specific heat data. We have also studied the electronic specific heat of La214 in the normal state at T > T c , and confirmed that pseudogap behavior appears at around T*, below which the in-plane resistivity and magnetic susceptibility tend to be slightly suppressed. Similar suppression appears in and of Bi2212 below the onset temperature of pseudogap T*. It is pointed out in the present study that 2 0 is closely related to T* in both Bi2212 and La214 systems; T* 2 0 /4.3k B . It is also pointed out that 2 0 is in almost linear proportion to k B T max ( T*), where T max is the temperature exhibiting a broad peak in –T curves and k B T max can be considered to give a measure of the effective antiferromagnetic exchange energy J eff. The factors in 2 0 k B T max J eff are 1 for La214 and 2 for Bi2212, respectively. We also report that in both Bi22l2 and La214 systems T c roughly scales with p 0 except in highly doped samples, where T c 2 0 .  相似文献

Shallow cavity flows driven by horizontal temperature gradients are analysed over a range of Rayleigh numbersR and Prandtl numbers , whereR is comparable in size to the aspect ratioL(1). Eigenvalue calculations show the existence of a critical Prandtl number R > R c (), below which the parallel core-flow structure is destroyed for Rayleigh numbersR>R c(). Thixomolded magnesium alloy AM60 plates joined by friction-stir welding were observed to be as strong or stronger than the unwelded base material. The thixotropic microstructures of the as-molded plates consisted of either 3% or 18% primary solid fraction of -Mg globules (45 m average size) in a eutectic mixture consisting of -Mg grains (10 m) surrounded by Mg17Al12 intermetallic grains in the -Mg grain boundaries (having an average size of 1–2 m). This complex, composite microstructure became a homogeneous (Mg + 6% Al)), recrystallized, equiaxed grain (10–15 m) microstructure in the weld zone.  相似文献

With the cohesive process zone representation of the micro-mechanistic processes that are associated with fracture as a basis, the author is involved in a wide-ranging research programme, the objective being to extend the fracture mechanics methodology for sharp cracks to blunt flaws, so as to take credit for the blunt flaw geometry. In earlier work, a Mode I fracture initiation relation has been derived, subject to the restriction that the process zone size s is small compared with the flaw depth (length) and any characteristic dimension other than the flaw root radius . The relation gives the critical elastic flaw-tip peak stress pcr, and has been derived using a two-extremes procedure, whereby the separate, and indeed exact, solutions for small and large s/ values are blended together to give an all-embracing relation that is valid for all s/ values. pcr is expressed in terms of the process zone material parameters and geometrical parameters but, for a wide range of flaw geometry parameters, pcr essentially depends on only one geometrical parameter . This paper provides underpinning for the general thrust of the two-extremes procedure by appealing to exact results for the complete spectrum of s/ values from analyses of appropriate Mode III models. Results obtained by applying the two-extremes procedure are shown to be in very good agreement with the exact results.  相似文献

An earlier treatment of temperature coefficient of capacitance, c [1] has been extended to include most solids. Materials are divided into those with given ranges of permittivity, , and temperature coefficient of polarisability. It appears that, for low dielectric loss, high permittivity glasses, like simple ionic compounds, always have a positive c, whereas paraelectrics and polymers have negative c. Ferroelectrics can have any value of c. Limitations in c and for given classes of solid are discussed.  相似文献

An engineering procedure is suggested for calculation of radiation properties of gas-dust media. It is based on using factors (attenuation, scattering factors, etc.) tabulated for discrete spectral ranges and averaged on particle size fractions. The effect of seeding on microstructural development and fracture toughness of -SiC with an oxynitride glass was investigated by the use of morphologically rodlike -SiC whiskers. A self reinforced microstructure consisting of rodlike -SiC grains and equiaxed -SiC matrix grains was obtained by seeding 1–10 wt% SiC whiskers, owing to the epitaxial growth of -SiC from the seed whiskers. Further addition of seeds (20 wt%) or further annealing at higher temperatures led to a unimodal microstructure, owing to the impingement of growing seed grains. By seeding -SiC whiskers, fracture toughness of fine-grained materials was improved from 2.8 to 3.9–6.7 MPa · m1/2, depending on the seed content.  相似文献
