The excitation of surface plasmons in metallic nanostructures provides an opportunity to localize light at the nanoscale, well below the scale of the wavelength of the light. The high local electromagnetic field intensities generated in the vicinity of the nanostructures through this nanofocusing effect are exploited in surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). At narrow interparticle gaps, so‐called hot‐spots, the nanofocusing effect is particularly pronounced. Hence, the engineering of substrates with a consistently high density of hot‐spots is a major challenge in the field of SERS. Here, a simple bottom‐up approach is described for the fabrication of highly SERS‐active gold core‐satellite nanostructures, using electrostatic and DNA‐directed self‐assembly. It is demonstrated that well‐defined core‐satellite gold nanostructures can be fabricated without the need for expensive direct‐write nanolithography tools such as electron‐beam lithography (EBL). Self‐assembly also provides excellent control over particle distances on the nanoscale. The as‐fabricated core‐satellite nanostructures exhibit SERS activities that are superior to commercial SERS substrates in signal intensity and reproducibility. This also highlights the potential of bottom‐up self‐assembly strategies for the fabrication of complex, well‐defined functional nanostructures with future applications well beyond the field of sensing.  相似文献

Flexible membranes (i.e., paper, cloth, and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)) have received extensive attention. The rapid development of flexible microfluidics and electronics and their integration calls for complex substrate structures to allow for multiple functions. Inspired by nature, meta‐structured membranes (MSMs) as substrates for fabricating integrated microfluidics and electronics are presented. These flexible and freestanding MSMs are generated by the self‐assembly of elastic plastic copolymer nanoparticle photonic crystals on micropatterned PDMS templates. The final MSMs constitute with integrated ordered micro‐ and nanostructures and exhibit spontaneous liquid transfer, fluorescence enhancement, and intimate skin contact. MSMs with designed patterns can be fabricated by assembling polymer nanoparticles on patterned molds; complicated and highly integrated electro‐microfluidics are generated on one slice of MSMs by utilizing these patterns as microfluidic channels and electrocircuits. They can be used as chip‐on‐skin sensors for biochemical–physiological hybrid monitoring sensing of the human body and as organ chips for cell culture and metabolite analysis under drug treatment. Their excellent properties show their potential value in cross‐scale sensing and have broad potential applications.  相似文献

Nanopore structures have displayed attractive prospects in diverse important applications such as nanopore‐based biosensors and enhanced spectroscopy. However, on the one hand, the fabrication techniques to obtain sub‐10 nm sized nanopores so far is very limited. On the other hand, the electromagnetic enhancement of nanopores is still relatively low. In this work, using a facile chemical etching strategy on 2D plasmonic Ag nanoparticle supercrystals, fine nanopore arrays with sub‐10 nm pore size have been successfully fabricated and a “nanopore‐in‐nanogap” hybrid plasmon mode has been investigated. An in situ etching and surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) detection indicate that novel hybrid plasmon structure may create an enhanced electromagnetic coupling and increase SERS signal at ≈10× magnification. The breaking of plasmon bonding dipolar mode and generation of antibonding‐like plasmon mode contribute to this enhanced electromagnetic coupling. The facile etching strategy, as a common approach, may open the doors for the fabrication of nanopores in various compositions for numerous applications.  相似文献

Fabrication of two and three‐dimensional nanostructures requires the development of new methodologies for the assembly of molecular/macromolecular objects on substrates in predetermined arrangements. Templated self‐assembly approach is a powerful strategy for the creation of materials from assembly of molecular components or nanoparticles. The present study describes the development of a facile, template directed self‐assembly of (metal/organic) nanomaterials into periodic micro‐ and nanostructures. The positioning and the organization of nanomaterials into spatially well‐defined arrays were achieved using an amphiphilic conjugated polymer‐aided, self‐organization process. Arrays of honeycomb patterns formed from conjugated C12PPPOH film with homogenous distribution of metal/organic nanomaterials. Our approach offers a straightforward and inexpensive method of preparation for hybrid thin films without environmentally controlled chambers or sophisticated instruments as compared to multistep micro‐fabrication techniques.  相似文献

Telomerase has attracted much attention as a universal cancer biomarker because telomerase is overexpressed in more than 85% of human cancer cells while suppressed in normal somatic cells. Since a strong association exists between telomerase activity and human cancers, the development of effective telomerase activity assay is critically important. Here, a nanogap‐rich Au nanowire (NW) surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor is reported for detection of telomerase activity in various cancer cells and tissues. The nanogap‐rich Au NWs are constructed by deposition of nanoparticles on single‐crystalline Au NWs and provided highly reproducible SERS spectra. The telomeric substrate (TS) primer‐attached nanogap‐rich Au NWs can detect telomerase activity through SERS measurement after the elongation of TS primers, folding into G‐quadruplex structures, and intercalation of methylene blue. This sensor enables us to detect telomerase activity from various cancer cell lines with a detection limit of 0.2 cancer cells mL?1. Importantly, the nanogap‐rich Au NW sensor can diagnose gastric and breast cancer tissues accurately. The nanogap‐rich Au NW sensors show strong SERS signals only in the presence of tumor tissues excised from 16 tumor‐bearing mice, while negligible signals in the presence of heated tumor tissues or normal tissues. It is anticipated that nanogap‐rich Au NW SERS sensors can be used for a universal cancer diagnosis and further biomedical applications including a diverse biomarker sensing.  相似文献

Plasmonics is a fast developing research area with a great potential for practical applications. However, the implementation of plasmonic devices requires low cost methodologies for the fabrication of organized metallic nanostructures that covers a relative large area (~1 cm2). Here the patterning of periodic arrays of nanoholes (PANHs) in gold films by using a combination of interference lithography, metal deposition, and lift off is reported. The setup allows the fabrication of periodic nanostructures with hole diameters ranging from 110 to 1000 nm, for 450 and 1800 nm of periodicity, respectively. The large areas plasmonic substrates consist of 2 cm × 2 cm gold films homogeneously covered by nanoholes and gold films patterned with a regular microarray of 200 μm diameter circular patches of PANHs. The microarray format is used for surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging and its potential for applications in multiplex biosensing is demonstrated. The gold films homogeneously covered by nanoholes are useful as electrodes in a thin layer organic photovoltaic. This is first example of a large area plasmonic solar cell with organized nanostructures. The fabrication approach reported here is a good candidate for the industrial‐scale production of metallic substrates for plasmonic applications in photovoltaics and biosensing.  相似文献

Here, a colloidal templating procedure for generating high‐density arrays of gold macroporous microwells, which act as discrete sites for surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), is reported. Development of such a novel array with discrete macroporous sites requires multiple fabrication steps. First, selective wet‐chemical etching of the distal face of a coherent optical fiber bundle produces a microwell array. The microwells are then selectively filled with a macroporous structure by electroless template synthesis using self‐assembled nanospheres. The fabricated arrays are structured at both the micrometer and nanometer scale on etched imaging bundles. Confocal Raman microscopy is used to detect a benzenethiol monolayer adsorbed on the macroporous gold and to map the spatial distribution of the SERS signal. The Raman enhancement factor of the modified wells is investigated and an average enhancement factor of 4 × 104 is measured. This demonstrates that such nanostructured wells can enhance the local electromagnetic field and lead to a platform of ordered SERS‐active micrometer‐sized spots defined by the initial shape of the etched optical fibers. Since the fabrication steps keep the initial architecture of the optical fiber bundle, such ordered SERS‐active platforms fabricated onto an imaging waveguide open new applications in remote SERS imaging, plasmonic devices, and integrated electro‐optical sensor arrays.  相似文献

A novel all‐femtosecond‐laser‐processing technique is proposed for the fabrication of 2D periodic metal nanostructures inside 3D glass microfluidic channels, which have applications to real‐time surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). In the present study, 3D glass microfluidic channels are fabricated by femtosecond‐laser‐assisted wet etching. This is followed by the space‐selective formation of Cu‐Ag layered thin films inside the microfluidic structure via femtosecond laser direct writing ablation and electroless metal plating. The Cu‐Ag films are subsequently nanostructured by irradiation with linearly polarized beams to form periodic surface structures. This work demonstrates that a double exposure to laser beams having orthogonal polarization directions can generate arrays of layered Cu‐Ag nanodots with dimensions as small as 25% of the laser wavelength. The resulting SERS microchip is able to detect Rhodamine 6G, exhibiting an enhancement factor of 7.3 × 108 in conjunction with a relative standard deviation of 8.88%. This 3D microfluidic chip is also found to be capable of the real‐time SERS detection of Cd2+ ions at concentrations as low as 10 ppb in the presence of crystal violet. This technique shows significant promise for the fabrication of high performance microfluidic SERS platforms for the real‐time sensing of toxic substances with ultrahigh sensitivity.  相似文献

Mixed‐cation lead mixed‐halide perovskites are employed as the photoactive material in single‐layer solution‐processed photodetectors fabricated with coplanar asymmetric nanogap Al–Au and indium tin oxide–Al electrodes. The nanogap electrodes, bearing an interelectrode distance of ≈10 nm, are patterned via adhesion lithography, a simple, low‐cost, and high‐throughput technique. Different electrode shapes and sizes are demonstrated on glass and flexible plastic substrates, effectively engineering the device architecture, and, along with perovskite film and material optimization, paving the way toward devices with tunable operational characteristics. The optimized coplanar nanogap junction perovskite photodetectors show responsivities up to 33 A W?1, specific detectivity on the order of 1011 Jones, and response times below 260 ns, while retaining a low dark current (0.3 nA) under ?2 V reverse bias. These values outperform the vast majority of perovskite photodetectors reported so far, while avoiding the complicated fabrication steps involved in conventional multilayer device structures. This work highlights the promising potential of the proposed asymmetric nanogap electrode architecture for application in the field of flexible optoelectronics.  相似文献

Plasmonic biosensors have demonstrated superior performance in detecting various biomolecules with high sensitivity through simple assays. Scaled‐up, reproducible chip production with a high density of hotspots in a large area has been technically challenging, limiting the commercialization and clinical translation of these biosensors. A new fabrication method for 3D plasmonic nanostructures with a high density, large volume of hotspots and therefore inherently improved detection capabilities is developed. Specifically, Au nanoparticle‐spiked Au nanopillar arrays are prepared by utilizing enhanced surface diffusion of adsorbed Au atoms on a slippery Au nanopillar arrays through a simple vacuum process. This process enables the direct formation of a high density of spherical Au nanoparticles on the 1 nm‐thick dielectric coated Au nanopillar arrays without high‐temperature annealing, which results in multiple plasmonic coupling, and thereby large effective volume of hotspots in 3D spaces. The plasmonic nanostructures show signal enhancements over 8.3 × 108‐fold for surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy and over 2.7 × 102‐fold for plasmon‐enhanced fluorescence. The 3D plasmonic chip is used to detect avian influenza‐associated antibodies at 100 times higher sensitivity compared with unstructured Au substrates for plasmon‐enhanced fluorescence detection. Such a simple and scalable fabrication of highly sensitive 3D plasmonic nanostructures provides new opportunities to broaden plasmon‐enhanced sensing applications.  相似文献

Rational assembly of carbon nanostructures into large‐area films is a key step to realize their applications in ubiquitous electronics and energy devices. Here, a self‐assembly methodology is devised to organize diverse carbon nanostructures (nanotubes, dots, microspheres, etc.) into homogeneous films with potentially infinite lateral dimensions. On the basis of studies of the redox reactions in the systems and the structures of films, the spontaneous deposition of carbon nanostructures onto the surface of the copper substrate is found to be driven by the electrical double layer between copper and solution. As a notable example, the as‐assembled multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) films display exceptional properties. They are a promising material for flexible electronics with superior electrical and mechanical compliance characteristics. Finally, two kinds of all‐solid‐state supercapacitors based on the self‐assembled MWCNT films are fabricated. The supercapacitor using carbon cloth as the current collector delivers an energy density of 3.5 Wh kg?1 and a power density of 28.1 kW kg?1, which are comparable with the state‐of‐the‐art supercapacitors fabricated by the costly single‐walled carbon nanotubes and arrays. The supercapacitor free of foreign current collector is ultrathin and shows impressive volumetric energy density (0.58 mWh cm?3) and power density (0.39 W cm?3) too.  相似文献

Monomeric gold (Au) and silver (Ag) nanoparticle (NP) arrays are self‐assembled uniformly into anodized aluminium oxide (AAO) nanopores with a high homogeneity of greater than 95%, using ultrasonication. The monomeric metal NP array exhibits asymmetric plasmonic absorption due to Fano‐like resonance as interpreted by finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) simulation for the numbers up to 127 AuNPs. To examine gap distance‐dependent collective‐plasmonic resonance, the different dimensions of S, M, and L arrays of the AuNP diameters/the gap distances of ≈36 nm/≈66 nm, ≈45 nm/≈56 nm, and ≈77 nm/≈12 nm, respectively, are prepared. Metal NP arrays with an invariable nanogap of ≈50 nm can provide consistent surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) intensities for Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 3.8–5.4%. Monomeric arrays can provide an effective platform for 2D hot‐electron excitation, as evidenced by the SERS peak‐changes of 4‐nitrobenzenethiol (4‐NBT) adsorbed on AgNP arrays with a power density of ≈0.25 mW µm‐2 at 514 and 633 nm. For practical purposes, the bacteria captured by 4‐mercaptophenylboronic acid are found to be easily destroyed under visible laser excitation at 514 nm with a power density of ≈14 mW µm‐2 for 60 min using Ag due to efficient plasmonic‐electron transfer.  相似文献

Spontaneous self‐assembly of a multication nanophase in another multication matrix phase is a promising bottom‐up approach to fabricate novel, nanocomposite structures for a range of applications. In an effort to understand the mechanisms for such self‐assembly, complimentary experimental and theoretical studies are reported to first understand and then control or guide the self‐assembly of insulating BaZrO3 (BZO) nanodots within REBa2Cu3O7–δ (RE = rare earth elements including Y, REBCO) superconducting films. The strain field developed around BZO nanodots embedded in the REBCO matrix is a key driving force dictating the self‐assembly of BZO nanodots along REBCO c‐axis. The size selection and spatial ordering of BZO self‐assembly are simulated using thermodynamic and kinetic models. The BZO self‐assembly is controllable by tuning the interphase strain field. REBCO superconducting films with BZO defect arrays self‐assembled to align in both vertical (REBCO c‐axis) and horizontal (REBCO ab‐planes) directions result in the maximized pinning and Jc performance for all field angles with smaller angular Jc anisotropy. The work has broad implications for the fabrication of controlled self‐assembled nanostructures for a range of applications via strain‐tuning.  相似文献

Reversible photocontrol of dynamic chirality in self‐assembly systems is of great importance in exploitations of artificial nanomachines for scientific and industrious applications. Here, a new strategy is proposed for achieving optically chiral controls based on photoswitchable plasmonic nanostructures. Chiral plasmonic nanoassemblies that are responsive to optomechanical perturbations exerted by circular polarized light (CPL) in the visible (vis)/near infrared (NIR) region are designed. The reversible photoswitching between opposite chiral states is verified by circular dichroism (CD) spectral signals. Theoretical simulations reveal the key role of optical torques in driving this chiral switching. By regulating light polarization or tuning light frequency to excite different plasmonic modes of the nanostructures, such an optomechanically driven chiral switching can enable a directed mirror‐symmetry breaking and selective chiral amplification in nanoassemblies. This plasmon‐based photoswitching nanosystem can operate at the optical transparent window, showing particular advantages over most of the molecular photoswitches for applications in living systems.  相似文献

The fabrication of surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates that are optimized for use with specific laser wavelength–analyte combinations is addressed. In order to achieve large signal enhancement, temporal stability, and reproducibility over large substrate areas at low cost, only self‐assembly and templating processes are employed. The resulting substrates consist of arrays of gold nanospheres with controlled diameter and spacing, properties that dictate the optical response of the structure. Tunability of the extended surface plasmon resonance is observed in the range of 520–1000 nm. It is demonstrated that the enhancement factor is maximized when the surface plasmon resonance is red‐shifted with respect to the SERS instrument laser line. Despite relying on self‐organization, site‐to‐site enhancement factor variations smaller than 10% are obtained.  相似文献

The ability to synthesize plasmonic nanomaterials with well‐defined structures and tailorable size is crucial for exploring their potential applications. Gold nanoplates (AuNPLs) exhibit appealing structural and optical properties, yet their applications are limited by difficulties in thickness control. Other challenges include a narrow range of tunability in size and surface plasmon resonance, combined with a synthesis conventionally involving cytotoxic cetyltrimethylammonium (CTA) halide surfactant. Here, a one‐step, high‐yield synthesis of single‐crystalline AuNPLs is developed, based on the combined use of two structure‐directing agents, methyl orange and FeBr3, which undergo preferential adsorption onto different crystalline facets of gold. The obtained AuNPLs feature high shape homogeneity that enables mesoscopic self‐assembly, broad‐range tunability of dimensions (controlled thickness from ≈7 to ≈20 nm, accompanied by modulation of the edge length from ≈150 nm to ≈2 µm) and plasmonic properties. These merits, coupled with a preparation free of CTA‐halide surfactants, have facilitated the exploration of various uses, especially in bio‐related areas. For example, they are demonstrated as biocompatible photothermal agents for cell ablation in NIR I and NIR II windows. This work paves the way to the innovative fabrication of anisotropic plasmonic nanomaterials with desired attributes for wide‐ranging practical applications.  相似文献

Flexible plasmonic metasurfaces have garnered considerable attention because the material's mechanical flexibility enables new functionalities and integrated applications. Here, by adopting low‐cost materials and simple techniques, we demonstrate a method of fabricating large flexible metasurfaces with arbitrary user‐designed iridescent patterns. These naked‐eye recognizable patterns together with their excellent plasmonic activities have yielded new functionalities and novel applications. Demonstrations include plasmonic sensing, reflective displays, developing new encryption strategies and integrated devices, etc. Moreover, the low fabrication cost (?2) would enable the practical use of the material. The metasurface can even be fashioned into an innovative, multifunctional medical ID bracelet. We believe our flexible plasmonic metafilm will inspire the fabrication of many novel applications and open up new horizons in various fields.  相似文献

Plasmonic materials possessing dense hot spots with high field enhancement over a large area are highly desirable for ultrasensitive biochemical sensing and efficient solar energy conversion; particularly those based on low‐cost noncoinage metals with high natural abundance are of considerable practical significance. Here, 3D aluminum hybrid nanostructures (3D‐Al‐HNSs) with high density of plasmonic hot spots across a large scale are fabricated via a highly efficient and scalable nonlithographic method, i.e., millisecond‐laser‐direct‐writing in liquid nitrogen. The nanosized alumina interlayer induces intense and dual plasmonic resonance couplings between adjacent Al nanoparticles with bimodal size distribution within each of the hybrid assemblies, leading to remarkably elevated localized electric fields (or hot spots) accessible to the analytes or reactants. The 3D‐stacked nanostructure substantially raises the hot spot density, giving rise to plasmon‐enhanced light harvesting from deep UV to the visible, strong enhancement of Raman signals, and a very low limit of detection outperforming reported Al nanostructures, and even comparable to the noble metals. Combined with the long‐term stability and good reproducibility, the 3D‐Al‐HNSs hold promise as a robust low‐cost plasmonic material for applications in plasmon‐enhanced spectroscopic sensing and light harvesting.  相似文献

A scalable method for site‐selective, directed self‐assembly of colloidal opals on topologically patterned substrates is presented. Here, such substrate contains optical waveguides which couple to the colloidal crystal. The site‐selectivity is achieved by a capillary network, whereas the self‐assembly process is based on controlled solvent evaporation. In the deposition process, a suspension of colloidal microspheres is dispensed on the substrate and driven into the desired crystallization sites by capillary flow. The method has been applied to realize colloidal crystals from monodisperse dielectric spheres with diameters ranging from 290 to 890 nm. The method can be implemented in an industrial wafer‐scale process.  相似文献

Wafer‐scale polymer nanofabrillar structures have been fabricated using the combination of colloidal nanolithography, deep‐silicon etching, and nanomolding to mimic the nanostructure of gecko foot‐hairs. The artificial surface features densely packed polymeric nanofibrils with super‐hydrophobic, water‐repellent, and “easy‐to‐clean” characteristics. The lateral dimension of the nanofibrils is as small as 250 nm and an aspect‐ratio as high as 10:1 has been achieved without lateral collapse between neighboring fibrils. The method allows both fabrication of synthetic structures over a large area and direct integration of a flexible membrane to assist the array of nanofibrils in making intimate contact with uneven surfaces. A single nanofibril exhibits a mean adhesive force ranging from (0.91 ± 0.34) nN to (1.35 ± 0.37) nN. In the macroscopic scale, the nanostructured surface can adhere firmly to a smooth glass substrate and inherits the in‐use, self‐cleaning property of the setal nanostructures found in gecko lamellae.  相似文献
