Regioregular head‐to‐tail (HT)‐coupled poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) (P3HT) with a weight‐average molecular weight (Mw) in the 7.3–69.6 kDa range is crystallized by directional epitaxial solidification in 1,3,5‐trichlorobenzene (TCB) to yield highly oriented thin films. An oriented and periodic lamellar structure consisting of crystalline lamellae separated by amorphous interlamellar zones is evidenced by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Both the overall crystallinity as well as the orientation of the crystalline lamellae decrease significantly with increasing Mw. The total lamellar periodicity is close to the length of “fully extended” chains for Mw = 7.3 kDa (polystyrene‐equivalent molecular weight, eq. PS) and it saturates to a value of ca. (25–28) ± 2 nm for Mw ≥ 18.8 kDa (eq. PS). This behavior is attributed to a transition from an oligomeric‐like system, for which P3HT chains are essentially in a fully extended all‐trans conformation and do not fold, to a semicrystalline system that involves a periodic alternation of crystalline lamellae separated by extended amorphous interlamellar zones, which harbor chain folds, chain ends, and tie molecules. For P3HT with Mw of ca. 7.3 kDa (eq. PS), epitaxial crystallization on TCB allows for the growth of both “edge‐on” and “flat‐on” oriented crystalline lamellae on the TCB substrate. The orientation of the lamellae is attributed to 1D epitaxy. Because of the large size of the “flat‐on” crystalline lamellae, a characteristic single‐crystal electron diffraction pattern corresponding to the [001] zone was obtained by selected area electron diffraction (SAED), indicating that P3HT crystallizes in a monoclinic unit cell with a = 16.0 Å, b = 7.8 Å, c = 7.8 Å, and γ = 93.5°.  相似文献

The influence of polymer entanglement on the self‐assembly, molecular packing structure, and microstructure of low‐Mw (lightly entangled) and high‐Mw (highly entangled) poly (3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT), and the carrier transport in thin‐film transistors, are investigated. The polymer chains are gradually disentangled in a marginal solvent via ultrasonication of the polymer solution, and demonstrate improved diffusivity of precursor species (coils, aggregates, and microcrystallites), enhanced nucleation and crystallization of P3HT in solution, and self‐assembly of well‐ordered and highly textured fibrils at the solid–liquid interface. In low‐Mw P3HT, reducing chain entanglement enhances interchain and intrachain ordering, but reduces the interconnectivity of ordered domains (tie molecules) due to the presence of short chains, thus deteriorating carrier transport even in the face of improving crystallinity. Reducing chain entanglement in high‐Mw P3HT solutions increases carrier mobility up to ≈20‐fold, by enhancing interchain and intrachain ordering while maintaining a sufficiently large number of tie molecules between ordered domains. These results indicate that charge carrier mobility is strongly governed by the balancing of intrachain and interchain ordering, on the one hand, and interconnectivity of ordered domains, on the other hand. In high‐Mw P3HT, intrachain and interchain ordering appear to be the key bottlenecks to charge transport, whereas in low‐Mw P3HT, the limited interconnectivity of the ordered domains acts as the primary bottleneck to charge transport.  相似文献

Previous investigations of the field‐effect mobility in poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) layers revealed a strong dependence on molecular weight (MW), which was shown to be closely related to layer morphology. Here, charge carrier mobilities of two P3HT MW fractions (medium‐MW: Mn = 7 200 g mol?1; high‐MW: Mn = 27 000 g mol?1) are probed as a function of temperature at a local and a macroscopic length scale, using pulse‐radiolysis time‐resolved microwave conductivity (PR‐TRMC) and organic field‐effect transistor measurements, respectively. In contrast to the macroscopic transport properties, the local intra‐grain mobility depends only weakly on MW (being in the order of 10?2 cm2 V?1 s?1) and being thermally activated below the melting temperature for both fractions. The striking differences of charge transport at both length scales are related to the heterogeneity of the layer morphology. The quantitative analysis of temperature‐dependent UV/Vis absorption spectra according to a model of F. C. Spano reveals that a substantial amount of disordered material is present in these P3HT layers. Moreover, the analysis predicts that aggregates in medium‐MW P3HT undergo a “pre‐melting” significantly below the actual melting temperature. The results suggest that macroscopic charge transport in samples of short‐chain P3HT is strongly inhibited by the presence of disordered domains, while in high‐MW P3HT the low‐mobility disordered zones are bridged via inter‐crystalline molecular connections.  相似文献

The time‐of‐flight method has been used to study the effect of P3HT molecular weight (Mn = 13–121 kDa) on charge mobility in pristine and PCBM blend films using highly regioregular P3HT. Hole mobility was observed to remain constant at 10?4 cm2V?1s?1 as molecular weight was increased from 13–18 kDa, but then decreased by one order of magnitude as molecular weight was further increased from 34–121 kDa. The decrease in charge mobility observed in blend films is accompanied by a change in surface morphology, and leads to a decrease in the performance of photovoltaic devices made from these blend films.  相似文献

The charge transport in pristine poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) films and in photovoltaic blends of P3HT with [6,6]‐phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) is investigated to study the influence of charge‐carrier transport on photovoltaic efficiency. The field‐ and temperature dependence of the charge‐carrier mobility in P3HT of three different regioregularities, namely, regiorandom, regioregular with medium regioregularity, and regioregular with very high regioregularity are investigated by the time‐of‐flight technique. While medium and very high regioregularity polymers show the typical absorption features of ordered lamellar structures of P3HT in the solid state even without previous annealing, films of regiorandom P3HT are very disordered as indicated by their broad and featureless absorption. This structural difference in the solid state coincides with partially non‐dispersive transport and hole mobilities µh of around 10?4 and 10?5 cm2 V?1 s?1 for the high and medium regioregularity P3HT, respectively, and a slow and dispersive charge transport for the regiorandom P3HT. Upon blending the regioregular polymers with PCBM, the hole mobilities are typically reduced by one order of magnitude, but they do not significantly change upon additional post‐spincasting annealing. Only in the case of P3HT with high regioregularity are the electron mobilities similar to the hole mobilities and the charge transport is, thus, balanced. Nonetheless, devices prepared from both materials exhibit similar power conversion efficiencies of 2.5%, indicating that very high regioregularity may not substantially improve order and charge‐carrier transport in P3HT:PCBM and does not lead to significant improvements in the power‐conversion efficiency of photovoltaic devices.  相似文献

Conjugated rod‐coil block copolymers provide an interesting route towards enhancing the properties of the conjugated block due to self‐assembly and the interplay of rod‐rod and rod‐coil interactions. Here, we demonstrate the ability of an attached semi‐fluorinated block to significantly improve upon the charge carrier properties of regioregular poly(3‐hexyl thiophene) (rr‐P3HT) materials on bare SiO2. The thin film hole mobilities on bare SiO2 dielectric surfaces of poly (3‐hexyl thiophene)‐block‐polyfluoromethacrylates (P3HT‐b‐PFMAs) can approach up to 0.12 cm2 V?1 s?1 with only 33 wt% of the P3HT block incorporated in the copolymer, as compared to rr‐P3HT alone which typically has mobilities averaging 0.03 cm2 V?1 s?1. To our knowledge, this is the highest mobility reported in literature for block copolymers containing a P3HT. More importantly, these high hole mobilities are achieved without multistep OTS treatments, argon protection, or post‐annealing conditions. Grazing incidence wide‐angle x‐ray scattering (GIWAX) data revealed that in the P3HT‐b‐PFMA copolymers, the P3HT rod block self‐assembles into highly ordered lamellar structures, similar to that of the rr‐P3HT homopolymer. Grazing incidence small‐angle x‐ray scattering (GISAXS) data revealed that lamellar structures are only observed in perpendicular direction with short PFMA blocks, while lamellae in both perpendicular and parallel directions are observed in polymers with longer PFMA blocks. AFM, GIWAXS, and contact angle measurements also indicate that PFMA block assembles at the polymer thin film surface and forms an encapsulation layer. The high charge carrier mobilities and the hydrophobic surface of the block copolymer films clearly demonstrates the influence of the coil block segment on device performance by balancing the crystallization and microphase separation in the bulk morphological structure.  相似文献

Highly oriented films of regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) are prepared by two methods: mechanical rubbing and directional epitaxial crystallization. The structure, nanomorphology, and optical and charge‐transport properties of the oriented films are investigated by electron diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), absorption spectroscopy, and transistor field‐effect measurements. In rubbed films, P3HT chains align parallel to the rubbing direction and the crystalline domains orientation changes from preferential edge‐on to flat‐on orientation. The maximum in‐plane orientation probed by absorption spectroscopy is a function of the polymer molecular weight Mw; the lower the Mw, the higher the in‐plane orientation induced by rubbing. The anisotropy of field‐effect mobility measured parallel and perpendicular to the rubbing shows the same trend as the absorption. The Mw‐dependence of the orientation is explained in terms of chain folding and entanglement that prevent the reorientation and reorganization of the π‐stacked chains, especially when Mw ≥ 50 kDa. For comparison, P3HT films are oriented by directional epitaxial crystallization using a zone‐melting technique. Electron diffraction and HR‐TEM show that epitaxial and rubbed films differ in terms of intralamellar order within layers of π‐stacked chains. Comparison of UV‐vis absorption spectra for the different samples suggests that the vibronic structure is sensitive to intralamellar disorder.  相似文献

The morphological, bipolar charge‐carrier transport, and photovoltaic characteristics of poly(3‐alkylthiophene) (P3AT):[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends are studied as a function of alkyl side‐chain length m, where m equals the number of alkyl carbon atoms. The P3ATs studied are poly(3‐butylthiophene) (P3BT, m = 4), poly(3‐pentylthiophene) (P3PT, m = 5), and poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT, m = 6). Solar cells with these blends deliver similar order of photo‐current yield (exceeding 10 mA cm?2) irrespective of side‐chain length. Power conversion efficiencies of 3.2, 4.3, and 4.6% are within reach using solar cells with active layers of P3BT:PCBM (1:0.8), P3PT:PCBM (1:1), and P3HT:PCBM (1:1), respectively. A difference in fill factor values is found to be the main source of efficiency difference. Morphological studies reveal an increase in the degree of phase separation with increasing alkyl chain length. Moreover, while P3PT:PCBM and P3HT:PCBM films have similar hole mobility, measured by hole‐only diodes, the hole mobility in P3BT:PCBM lowers by nearly a factor of four. Bipolar measurements made by field‐effect transistor showed a decrease in the hole mobility and an increase in the electron mobility with increasing alkyl chain length. Balanced charge transport is only achieved in the P3HT:PCBM blend. This, together with better processing properties, explains the superior properties of P3HT as a solar cell material. P3PT is proved to be a potentially competitive material. The optoelectronic and charge transport properties observed in the different P3AT:PCBM bulk heterojunction (BHJ) blends provide useful information for understanding the physics of BHJ films and the working principles of the corresponding solar cells.  相似文献

Field‐effect transistor memories usually require one additional charge storage layer between the gate contact and organic semiconductor channel. To avoid such complication, new donor–acceptor rod–coil diblock copolymers (P3HT44b‐Pison) of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT)‐block‐poly(pendent isoindigo) (Piso) are designed, which exhibit high performance transistor memory characteristics without additional charge storage layer. The P3HT and Piso blocks are acted as the charge transporting and storage elements, respectively. The prepared P3HT44b‐Pison can be self‐assembled into fibrillar‐like nanostructures after the thermal annealing process, confirmed by atomic force microscopy and grazing‐incidence X‐ray diffraction. The lowest‐unoccupied molecular orbital levels of the studied polymers are significantly lowered as the block length of Piso increases, leading to a stronger electron affinity as well as charge storage capability. The field‐effect transistors (FETs) fabricated from P3HT44b‐Pison possess p‐type mobilities up to 4.56 × 10?2 cm2 V?1 s?1, similar to that of the regioregular P3HT. More interestingly, the FET memory devices fabricated from P3HT44b‐Pison exhibit a memory window ranging from 26 to 79 V by manipulating the block length of Piso, and showed stable long‐term data endurance. The results suggest that the FET characteristics and data storage capability can be effectively tuned simultaneously through donor/acceptor ratio and thin film morphology in the block copolymer system.  相似文献

The effect of controlled thermal annealing on charge transport and photogeneration in bulk‐heterojunction solar cells made from blend films of regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and methanofullerene (PCBM) has been studied. With respect to the charge transport, it is demonstrated that the electron mobility dominates the transport of the cell, varying from 10–8 m2 V–1 s–1 in as‐cast devices to ≈3 × 10–7 m2 V–1 s–1 after thermal annealing. The hole mobility in the P3HT phase of the blend is dramatically affected by thermal annealing. It increases by more than three orders of magnitude, to reach a value of up to ≈ 2 × 10–8 m2 V–1 s–1 after the annealing process, as a result of an improved crystallinity of the film. Moreover, upon annealing the absorption spectrum of P3HT:PCBM blends undergo a strong red‐shift, improving the spectral overlap with solar emission, which results in an increase of more than 60 % in the rate of charge‐carrier generation. Subsequently, the experimental electron and hole mobilities are used to study the photocurrent generation in P3HT:PCBM devices as a function of annealing temperature. The results indicate that the most important factor leading to a strong enhancement of the efficiency, compared with non‐annealed devices, is the increase of the hole mobility in the P3HT phase of the blend. Furthermore, numerical simulations indicate that under short‐circuit conditions the dissociation efficiency of bound electron–hole pairs at the donor/acceptor interface is close to 90 %, which explains the large quantum efficiencies measured in P3HT:PCBM blends.  相似文献

Silicon nanocrystals (Si NCs) are shown to be an electron acceptor in hybrid solar cells combining Si NCs with poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). The effects of annealing and different metal electrodes on Si NC/P3HT hybrid solar cells are studied in this paper. After annealing at 150 °C, Si NC/P3HT solar cells exhibit power conversion efficiencies as high as 1.47%. The hole mobility in the P3HT phase extracted from space‐charge‐limited current measurements of hole‐only devices increases from 2.48 × 10?10 to 1.11 × 10?9 m2 V?1 s?1 after annealing, resulting in better transport in the solar cells. A quenching of the open‐circuit voltage and short‐circuit current is observed when high work function metals are deposited as the cathode on Si NC/P3HT hybrid devices.  相似文献

We present a combined charge transport and X-ray diffraction study of blends based on regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and the polyfluorene co-polymer poly((9,9-dioctylfluorene)-2,7-diyl-alt-[4,7-bis(3-hexylthien-5-yl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole]-2′,2′′-diyl) (F8TBT) that are used in efficient all-polymer solar cells. Hole mobility is observed to increase by nearly two orders of magnitude from less than 10?7 cm2 V?1 s?1 for as spin-coated blends to 6 × 10?6 cm2 V?1 s?1 for blends annealed at 453 K at a field of 2.7 × 105 V/cm, but still significantly below the time-of-flight mobility of unblended P3HT of 1.7 × 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1. The hole mobility of the blends also show a strong negative electric-field dependence, compared with a relatively flat electric-field dependence of unblended P3HT, suggestive of increased spatial disorder in the blends. X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that P3HT/F8TBT blends show a phase separation of the two components with a crystalline part attributed to P3HT and an amorphous part attributed to F8TBT. In as-spun and mildly annealed blends, the measured d-values and relative intensities of the 100, 200 and 300 P3HT peaks are noticeably different to unblended P3HT indicating an incorporation of F8TBT in P3HT crystallites that distorts the crystal structure. At higher anneal temperatures the blend d-values approach that of unblended P3HT suggesting a well separated blend with pure P3HT crystallites. P3HT crystallite size in the blend is also observed to increase with annealing from 3.3 to 6.1 nm, however similar changes in crystallite size are observed in unblended P3HT films with annealing. The lower mobility of P3HT/F8TBT blends is attributed not only to increased P3HT structural disorder in the blend, but also due to the blend morphology (increased spatial disorder). Changes in hole mobility with annealing are interpreted in terms of the need to form percolation networks of P3HT crystallites within an F8TBT matrix, with a possible contribution due to the intercalation of F8TBT in P3HT crystallites acting as defects in the as-prepared state.  相似文献

Here, an investigation of three‐dimensional (3D) morphologies for bulk heterojunction (BHJ) films based on regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) is reported. Based on the results, it is demonstrated that optimized post‐treatment, such as solvent annealing, forces the PCBM molecules to migrate or diffuse toward the top surface of the BHJ composite films, which induces a new vertical component distribution favorable for enhancing the internal quantum efficiency (ηIQE ) of the devices. To investigate the 3D BHJ morphology, novel time‐of‐flight secondary‐ion mass spectroscopy studies are employed along with conventional methods, such as UV‐vis absorption, X‐ray diffraction, and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy studies. The ηIQE of the devices are also compared after solvent annealing for different times, which clearly shows the effect of the vertical component distribution on the performance of BHJ polymer solar cells. In addition, the fabrication of high‐performance P3HT:PCBM solar cells using the optimized solvent‐annealing method is reported, and these cells show a mean power‐conversion efficiency of 4.12% under AM 1.5G illumination conditions at an intensity of 100 mW cm?2.  相似文献

The application of 1H spin diffusion nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is expanded to polymer‐fullerene blends for bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic photovoltaics (OPV) by developing a new experimental methodology for measuring the thin films used in poly‐3‐hexylthiophene–phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT‐PCBM) OPV devices and by creating an analysis framework for estimating domain size distributions. It is shown that variations in common P3HT‐PCBM BHJ processing parameters such as spin‐coating speed and thermal annealing can significantly affect domain size distributions, which in turn affect power conversion efficiency. 1H spin diffusion NMR analysis reveals that films spin‐cast at fast speeds in dichlorobenzene are primarily composed of small (<10 nm) domains of each component; these devices exhibit low power conversion efficiencies (η = 0.4%). Fast‐cast films improve substantially by thermal annealing, which causes nanometer‐scale coarsening leading to higher efficiency (η = 2.2%). Films spin‐cast at slow speeds and then slowly dried exhibit larger domains and even higher efficiencies (η = 2.6%), but do not benefit from thermal annealing. The 1H spin diffusion NMR results show that a significant population of domains tens of nanometers in size is a common characteristic of samples with higher efficiencies.  相似文献

[6,6]‐phenyl‐C‐61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) and poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) are the most widely used acceptor and donor materials, respectively, in polymer solar cells (PSCs). However, the low LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) energy level of PCBM limits the open circuit voltage (Voc) of the PSCs based on P3HT. Herein a simple, low‐cost and effective approach of modifying PCBM and improving its absorption is reported which can be extended to all fullerene derivatives with an ester structure. In particular, PCBM is hydrolyzed to carboxylic acid and then converted to the corresponding carbonyl chloride. The latter is condensed with 4‐nitro‐4’‐hydroxy‐α‐cyanostilbene to afford the modified fullerene F . It is more soluble than PCBM in common organic solvents due to the increase of the organic moiety. Both solutions and thin films of F show stronger absorption than PCBM in the range of 250–900 nm. The electrochemical properties and electronic energy levels of F and PCBM are measured by cyclic voltammetry. The LUMO energy level of F is 0.25 eV higher than that of PCBM. The PSCs based on P3HT with F as an acceptor shows a higher Voc of 0.86 V and a short circuit current (Jsc) of 8.5 mA cm?2, resulting in a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.23%, while the PSC based on P3HT:PCBM shows a PCE of about 2.93% under the same conditions. The results indicate that the modified PCBM, i.e., F , is an excellent acceptor for PSC based on bulk heterojunction active layers. A maximum overall PCE of 5.25% is achieved with the PSC based on the P3HT: F blend deposited from a mixture of solvents (chloroform/acetone) and subsequent thermal annealing at 120 °C.  相似文献

A universal method to obtain record‐high electronic Seebeck coefficients is demonstrated while preserving reasonable conductivities in doped blends of organic semiconductors through rational design of the density of states (DOSs). A polymer semiconductor with a shallow highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level‐poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) is mixed with materials with a deeper HOMO (PTB7, TQ1) to form binary blends of the type P3HTx:B1‐x (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) that is p‐type doped by F4TCNQ. For B = PTB7, a Seebeck coefficient S = 1100 µV K?1 with conductivity σ = 0.3 S m?1 at x = 0.10 is achieved, while for B = TQ1, S = 2000 µV K?1 and σ = 0.03 S m?1 at x = 0.05 is found. Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations with parameters based on experiments show good agreement with the experimental results, confirming the intended mechanism. The simulations are used to derive a design rule for parameter tuning. These results can become relevant for low‐power, low‐cost applications like (providing power to) autonomous sensors, in which a high Seebeck coefficient translates directly to a proportionally reduced number of legs in the thermogenerator, and hence in reduced fabrication cost and complexity.  相似文献

The performance of organic photovoltaic (OPV) bulk‐heterojunction blends comprising a liquid‐crystalline fluorene derivative and a small‐molecular fullerene is found to increase asymptotically with the degree of polymerization of the former. Similar to various thermodynamic transition temperatures as well as the light absorbance of the fluorene moiety, the photocurrent extracted from OPV devices is found to strongly vary with increasing oligomer size up to a number average molecular weight, Mn ≈ 10 kg mol?1, but is rendered less chain‐length dependent for higher Mn as the fluorene derivative gradually adopts polymeric behavior.  相似文献

The challenges of experimentally probing the physical and electronic structures of the highly intermixed organic semiconductor blends that comprise active layers in high‐performance organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells ultimately limit the fundamental understanding of the device performance. We use Fourier‐transform IR (FTIR)‐absorption spectroscopy to quantitatively determine the interfacial electric field in blended poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT):phenyl‐ C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) thin films. The interfacial electric field is ≈0.2 V nm?1 in the as‐spun film and blends annealing at temperatures as high as 150 °C, which is the optimal annealing temperature in terms of OPV performance. The field decreases to a negligible value upon further annealing to 170 °C, at which temperature PCBM changes from amorphous to crystalline and the open‐circuit voltage of the solar cell decreases from 0.62 to 0.4 V. In addition, our measurements also allow determination of the absolute degree of crystallinity within the acceptor material. The roles of interfacial field and local crystallinity in OPV device performance are discussed.  相似文献

Light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) based on lead halide perovskites demonstrate outstanding optoelectronic properties and are strong competitors for display and lighting applications. While previous halide perovskite LEDs are mainly produced via solution processing, here an all‐vacuum processing method is employed to construct CsPbBr3 LEDs because vacuum processing exhibits high reliability and easy integration with existing OLED facilities for mass production. The high‐throughput combinatorial strategies are further adopted to study perovskite composition, annealing temperature, and functional layer thickness, thus significantly speeding up the optimization process. The best rigid device shows a current efficiency (CE) of 4.8 cd A?1 (EQE of 1.45%) at 2358 cd m?2, and best flexible device shows a CE of 4.16 cd A?1 (EQE of 1.37%) at 2012 cd m?2 with good bending tolerance. Moreover, by choosing NiOx as the hole‐injection layer, the CE is improved to 10.15 cd A?1 and EQE is improved to a record of 3.26% for perovskite LEDs produced by vacuum deposition. The time efficient combinatorial approaches can also be applied to optimize other perovskite LEDs.  相似文献

Controlled Suzuki–Miyaura coupling polymerization of 7′‐bromo‐9′,9′‐dioctyl‐fluoren‐2′‐yl‐4,4,5,5‐tetramethyl‐[1,3,2]dioxaborolane initiated by bromo(4‐tert‐butoxycarbonylamino‐phenyl)(tri‐tert‐butylphosphine)palladium ( 1 ) or bromo(4‐diethoxyphosphoryl‐phenyl)(tri‐tert‐butylphosphine)palladium ( 2 ) yields functionalized polyfluorenes (Mn = 4 × 103 g mol?1, Mw/Mn < 1.2) with a single amine or phosphonic acid, respectively, end‐group. High temperature synthesis of cadmium selenide quantum dots with these functionalized polyfluorenes as stabilizing ligands yields hybrid particles consisting of good quality (e.g. emission full width at half maximum of 30 nm; size distribution σ < 10%) inorganic nanocrystals with polyfluorene attached to the surface, as corroborated by transmission electron microscopy analysis and analytical ultracentrifugation. Sedimentation studies on particle dispersions show that a substantial portion (ca. half) of the phosphonic acid terminated polyfluorene ligands is bound to the inorganic nanocrystals, versus ca. 5% for the amino‐functionalized polyfluorene ligands. Single particle micro‐photoluminescence spectroscopy shows an efficient and complete energy transfer from the polyfluorene layer to the inorganic quantum dot.  相似文献
