A wavelet transform based analogue speech scrambling scheme is presented. The proposed scheme offers 2D scrambling. Related analyses and simulation results indicate that scrambled speech is highly secure in both the time and frequency domains

This paper deals with the problems associated with full-duplex scrambled speech communications over analog two-wire telephone networks. The goal is not to describe particular scrambling systems or methods, but to analyze the situation in which the two users speak at the same time and each should hear the other. Current telephone scrambling devices preclude this feature. A general half-duplex scrambling model is described as a base to the discussion of pseudo- and true full-duplex communications. Finally, a novel true full-duplex scrambling architecture based on a paper by Cox and Tribolet [11] is presented.

The techniques developed in Part I[1] for discrete-time analog scrambling are applied to the problem of scrambling band-limited continuous-time signals or waveforms. The idea behind the waveform scrambler is to sample the waveform (which is assumed to be band-limited) at a rate exceeding the Nyquist rate. The resulting sequence of samples is band-limited in the sense of Part I. The discrete-time scrambler described in Part I is applied to this sequence to produce a nearly band-limited scrambled sequence. A scrambled waveform is formed by modulating the amplitudes of a chain of pulses. This scrambled waveform can be transmitted over a band-limited channel, and the original unscrambled waveform can be recovered at the receiver.

This paper describes a method which uses “derangement” permutations as scrambling keys in a frequency-domain speech scrambling system. Subjective tests based on the number test confirm that such keys produce scrambled speech with virtually no residual intelligibility. A new derangement generation algorithm is introduced for key generation. This algorithm maps each integer g, in the range of 0⩽g<(n-1)!, to a distinct derangement of 2 elements,
