The Hydrological Operational Multipurpose Subprogramme (HOMS) scheme of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) consists of an international network for the transfer of packages of proven hydrological know-how, with particular emphasis on helping developing countries. More than one hundred HOMS centres worldwide produce and supply information components and handle requests for components for use in their own countries. Hydrology is the prime control in wetland ecosystems, but little formal hydrological data are gathered in wetlands by hydrometric authorities. Normally, most of the hydrological data for wetlands can be obtained from informal sources, non-hydrological organizations, the local population and archival information - especially photographs. Some short-term field monitoring can be useful in augmenting the large hydrological data sets which can be gathered - even when initial enquiries yield minimum information. Sediment and metal loadings to roadside gully-pots (weight/area of catchment/runoff depth) are calculated for two defined sites within a highway catchment and compared with data from other urban studies. The higher metal loadings associated with the more active site are particularly noticeable for Cu but at both sites the relative sizes of the metal loadings reflect the expected metal availabilities.The measured total surface runoff volumes represent between 34 and 83% of the total incoming rainfall volume for the catchment. The possible reasons for these water losses are assessed in terms of surface characteristics, seasonal variations and instrument limitations.Stepwise linear regression analysis of pollutant loadings against five selected hydrological parameters indicates that total runoff volume and storm duration together explain over 90% of the observed variance in Pb, Cd, Mn and sediment loadings. The results demonstrate the lack of importance of antecedent dry period and rainfall intensity in controlling the removal of particulate associated pollutants from this catchment. The derived model is used to predict temporal pollutant removal rates and these are shown to be consistent with those reported in other urban catchment studies. 相似文献

This article describes the development and implementation of an integrated hydrological management and reporting system on a microcomputer. The system involves the use of peripherals for digitizing, EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) or RAM downloading, storage, reporting, and archiving of hydrological data. Hydrological information is stored on hard disk in compact formats according to the type of data. Self-correcting data routines coupled with simple screen drivers for user interfacing allow semiskilled operators to use the system. An on-line help facility is an integral part of the user interface. Both pattern and color recognition by the operator are used to detect discrepancies in the data. 相似文献
