Controlling the size distribution of polymer-based nanoparticles is a challenging task due to their flexible core and surface structures. To accomplish such as task requires very precise control at the molecular level. Here we demonstrate a new approach whereby uniform-sized supramolecular nanoparticles (SNPs) can be reliably generated using a digital microfluidic droplet generator (DMDG) chip. A microfluidic environment enabled precise control over the processing parameters, and therefore high batch-to-batch reproducibility and robust production of SNPs with a very narrow size distribution could be realized. Digitally adjustment of the mixing ratios of the building blocks on the DMDG chip allowed us to rapidly scan a variety of synthesis conditions without consuming significant amounts of reagents. Nearly uniform SNPs with sizes ranging from 35 to 350?nm were obtained and characterized by transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. In addition, we could fine-tune the surface chemistry of the SNPs by incorporating an additional building block functionalized with specific ligands for targeting cells. The sizes and surface properties of these SNPs correlated strongly with their cell uptake efficiencies. This study showed a feasible method for microfluidic-assisted SNP production and provided a great means for preparing size-controlled SNPs with desired surface ligand coverage.  相似文献

Alkanethiol-capped gold (Au) nanoparticles, dispersed in toluene and spin-coated on atactic polystyrene films that are themselves spin-coated on fused quartz plates, self-assemble into a characteristic two-dimensional pattern-a network of the Au-thiol nano-composite separating polystyrene 'islands' of dimensions around 200 nm. This pattern changes on varying the concentration of the nanoparticles in the coating solution, evolving into the network from isolated nanoparticle clusters, and then going over to a distribution of 'pinholes' on a surface covered by the nano-composite, resembling a partially wetted surface with near-full coverage. Study of the pristine polystyrene surface reveals a pattern of low-cohesion regions separating 'islands' of polystyrene, where the latter are known to be supramolecular aggregates. It is suggested that these regions play the role of low-resistance channels to the flow of the nano-composite during spin coating.  相似文献

In this article, a team of researchers from the University of Victoria, BC, describe a novel approach to membrane separation which utilises a spinning centrifuge to reduce membrane fouling. The research group report that this method can result in higher flux due to decreases in particulate fouling and concentration polarisation. Work is already underway to identify possible applications for this new and promising technique, with applications of CMDS for the treatment of industrial waste and process waters under close scrutiny.  相似文献

A chitosan-based membrane chromatography was set up by using natural chitosan/carboxymethylchitosan (CS/CMCS) blend membrane as the matrix. The dynamic adsorption property for protein (lysozyme as model protein) was detailed discussed with the change in pore size of the membrane, the flow rate and the initial concentration of the feed solution, and the layer of membrane in membrane stack. The best dynamic adsorption capacity of lysozyme on the CS/CMCS membrane chromatography was found to be 15.3 mg/mL under the optimal flow conditions. Moreover, the CS/CMCS membrane chromatography exhibited good repeatability and reusability with the desorption efficiency of ~ 90%. As an application, lysozyme and ovalbumin were successfully separated from their binary mixture through the CS/CMCS membrane chromatography. This implies that such a natural chitosan-based membrane chromatography may have great potential on the bioseparation field in the future.  相似文献

用陶瓷超滤膜管和Teflon AF2400溶液制备陶瓷管-Teflon AF2400复合膜.测试了该复合膜组件对H2,CO,CO2,CH4,C2H6,C2H4,C2H2七种故障气体的脱气性能,并与GP100聚四氟乙烯毛细管和聚酰亚胺(PI)平板膜进行了比较.结果表明,陶瓷管-Teflon AF2400复合膜组件可在10 h内实现7种故障特征气体的油气平衡,远远快于GP100和PI膜.该组件可以在500 kPa的压力下长时间正常工作,能够满足变压器油中溶解气体在线监测的需要.  相似文献

The development of simple techniques for the separation and purification of recombinant proteins plays an important role in many of the advancements made in biotechnology and nanotechnology. Herein, we report an easy method for the efficient purification of polyhistidine affinity-tagged (His-tagged) proteins by using Ni2+-decorated superparamagnetic particles. Monodisperse Ni0.3Fe0.7Fe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared via a facile and economical one-pot hydrothermal process. Owing to the characteristic molecular recognition ability between nickel(II) ions and the polyhistidine affinity tag, the nanoparticles could be successfully employed to selectively bind and separate His-tagged cyan fluorescent protein (CFP) from an E. coli cell lysate in a recyclable process. Moreover, by changing the divalent metal precursors, various other metal-decorated magnetic nanoparticles can be obtained. This approach offers the possibility of constructing metal-decorated nanoparticles through a simple method and will be highly beneficial in further applications of nanoparticle-based technologies.   相似文献

The flux of permeate in the separation by the direct-contact membrane distillation process as a function of membrane characteristics and operating conditions was considered. The expressions describing the vapor transfer through a hydrophobic membrane, the temperature at the surface of the membrane, and changes of temperature and concentration solutions along the module in the countercurrent device were derived and proposed. The theoretically predicted results show about 85–90% agreement with the experimental data. The utility of equations in the separation technology was pointed out.  相似文献
