In this paper the correspondence principle is used to reduce the equations of viscoelasticity to the equations of elasticity by means of a Laplace transform. The finite element technique is used to approximate these equations in Laplace transform space. The approximating equations are then inverted to obtain a set of simultaneous Volterra integral equations. It is then shown how the introduction of certain auxiliary variables can be used to develop an integration scheme which considerably reduces computer storage requirements. The conditions under which this integration scheme is conditionally stable and unconditionally stable are both investigated and illustrated by means of examples.  相似文献

Non-linear wave propagation/transient dynamics in lattice structures is modeled using a technique which combines the Laplace transform and the Finite element method. The first step in the technique is to apply the Laplace transform to the governing differential equations and boundary conditions of the structural model. The non-linear terms present in these equations are represented in the transform domain by making use of the complex convolution theorem. Then, a weak formulation of the transformed equations yields a set of element level matrix equations. The trial and test functions used in the weak formulation correspond to the exact solutions of the linear parts of the transformed governing differential equations. Numerical results are presented for a viscoelastic rod and von Karman type beam.  相似文献

The paper examines the elastodynamic response of an infinite two-dimensional orthotr- opic medium containing a central crack under impact shear loading. Laplace and Fourier integral transforms are employed to reduce the problem to a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transformed plane. These equations are reduced to integral differential equations, which have been solved in the low frequency domain by iterations. To determine time dependence, these equations are inverted to yield the dynamic stress intensity factor (SIF) for shear point force loading that corresponds to the weight function for the crack under shear loading. It is used to derive SIF for polynomial loading.  相似文献

This study applies linearized couple-stress theory to evaluate the dynamic stresses around a crack in an infinite elastic medium that is subjected to an incoming shock stress wave impinging normal to the crack. The boundary conditions with respect to the crack are reduced to dual integral equations using a Fourier transform in the Laplace domain. To solve these equations, the differences in the displacement and rotation at the crack are expanded by a series of functions that are zero-valued outside the crack in the Laplace domain.  相似文献

Summary The transient dynamic stress intensity factor and dynamic energy release rate were determined for a cracked piezoelectric ceramic under normal impact in this study. A plane step pulse strikes the crack and stress wave diffraction takes place. Laplace and Fourier transforms are employed to reduce the transient problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. The solution of the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. A numerical Laplace inversion technique is used to compute the values of the dynamic stress intensity factor and the dynamic energy release rate for some piezoelectric ceramics, and the results are graphed to display the electroelastic interactions.  相似文献

The three-dimensional response of two rectangular cracks in an infinite elastic medium to impact load is investigated in this paper. Fourier and Laplace transforms are applied and the problem is reduced to that of solving dual integral equations in the Laplace transform domain. To solve these equations, the crack surface displacement is expanded in a double series of functions which are zero outside of the cracks. The unknown coefficients accompanied in that series are solved with the aid of the Schmidt method. The dynamic stress intensity factors are computed numerically.  相似文献

Dynamic stresses around two coplanar Griffith cracks in an orthotropic layer sandwiched between two elastic half-planes are determined. To the surfaces of the cracks, an internal pressure is applied suddenly. Application of the Fourier and Laplace transforms reduces the problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. To solve these equations, the crack surface displacement is expanded in a series of functions which are zero outside of the cracks. The unknown coefficients accompanied in that series are solved with the aid of the Schmidt method. The stress intensity factors defined in the Laplace transform plane are inverted numerically in the physical plane. Numerical calculations are carried out for the case that the layer of carbon fiber is sandwiched by the two elastic half-planes of plastic.  相似文献

Summary The impact response of a crack in a semi-infinite body with a surface layer which is subjected to antiplane shear deformation is considered in this study. The semi-infinite body contains a crack near an interface. Using Laplace and Fourier transforms, the case of a crack perpendicular to the interface is reduced to a set of triple integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. The solution to the triple integral equations is then expressed in terms of a singular integral equation of the first kind. A numerical Laplace inversion routine is used to recover the time dependence of the solution. The dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack tips are obtained for several values of time, material constants, and geometrical parameters. With 8 Figures  相似文献

In the present paper, by use of the boundary integral equation method and the techniques of Green fundamental solution and singularity analysis, the dynamic infinite plane crack problem is investigated. For the first time, the problem is reduced to solving a system of mixed-typed integral equations in Laplace transform domain. The equations consist of ordinary boundary integral equations along the outer boundary and Cauchy singular integral equations along the crack line. The equations obtained are strictly proved to be equivalent with the dual integral equations obtained by Sih in the special case of dynamic Griffith crack problem. The mixed-type integral equations can be solved by combining the numerical method of singular integral equation with the ordinary boundary element method. Further use the numerical method for Laplace transform, several typical examples are calculated and their dynamic stress intensity factors are obtained. The results show that the method proposed is successful and can be used to solve more complicated problems.  相似文献

Impact response of a finite crack in an orthotropic strip   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Summary The elastodynamic response of a finite crack in an infinite orthotropic strip under normal impact is investigated in this study. The crack is situated symmetrically and oriented in a direction normal to the edges of the strip. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the transient problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. The solution to the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical values on the dynamic stress intensity factor for some fiber-reinforced composite materials are obtained and the results are graphed to display the influence of the material orthotropy.  相似文献

The elastodynamic response of two coplanar Griffith cracks in a finite elastic strip under in-plane compression and anti-plane shear impact is considered in this paper. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to reduce two mixed boundary value problems to Cauchy-type singular integral equations in Laplace transform plane, which are solved numerically. The elastodynamic stress-intensity factors are obtained as functions of time and geometry parameters.  相似文献

In this work, we formulate a local meshless method based on Laplace transform to estimate the solution of a time-fractional diffusion equation. The collocation is constructed over small subdomains and combined with Laplace transform for a temporal variable. In this approach, the differentiation matrices are constructed by solving small systems over small local domains instead of a large global collocation matrix. The application of Laplace transform avoids the classical time-stepping procedure. This method is capable of solving fractional differential equations in multidimensions with higher accuracy.  相似文献

The paper presents an analysis of functionally graded material doubly curved panels with rectangular planform under the action of thermal and mechanical loads. Based on the first-order shear deformation theory of modified Sanders assumptions, five coupled partially differential equations (PDEs) are established as equations of motion. Each thermo-mechanical property of the shell follows the power law distribution across the thickness, except Poisson’s ratio, which is kept constant through the panel. Assuming that four edges of the shell-panel are simply supported, a Navier-based solution is adopted to reduce the PDEs into time-dependent ODEs. Applying the Laplace transformation, the equations of motion are transformed into the Laplace domain. With the aid of analytical Laplace inverse method, solutions of stresses, strains, and displacements are obtained in time domain and expressed in explicit phrases. Dynamic, free vibration, and thermo-mechanical bending analysis of the panel is carried out for various geometries. Obtained results are validated with the well-known available data reported in the literature.  相似文献

A new meshless method for solving transient elastodynamic boundary value problems, based on the local boundary integral equation (LBIE) method and the moving least squares approximation (MLS), is proposed in this paper. The LBIE with the MLS is applied to both transient and steady‐state (Laplace transformed) elastodynamics. Applying the MLS approximation for spatially dependent terms in the first approach, the LBIEs are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations for nodal unknowns. This system of ordinary differential equations is solved by the Houbolt finite difference scheme. In the second formulation, the time variable is eliminated by using the Laplace transformation. Unknown Laplace transforms of displacements and traction vectors are computed from the LBIEs with the MLS approximation. The time‐dependent values are obtained by the Durbin inversion technique.
