LARGE EDDY SIMULATION OF PULSATING TURBULENT OPEN CHANNEL FLOW   总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0  
Pulsating turbulent open channel flow has been investigated by the u.se of I.arge Eddy Simulation (I.ES) technique coupled with dynamic Sub-Grid-Scale (SGS) model for turbulent SGS stress to closure the governing equations.Three-dimensional filtered Navier-Stokes equations are numerically solved by a fractional-- step method. The objective of this study is to deal with the behavior of the pulsating turbulent open channel flow and to examine the reliability of the I.ES approach for predicting the pulsating turbulent flow. In this study, the Reynolds number (Re,) is chosen as 180 based on the friction velocity and the channel depth, The frequency of the driving pressure gradient for the pulsating turbulent flow ranges low, medium and high value, Statistical turbulence quantities as well as the flow structures are analyzed.  相似文献

Fully developed vertical turbulent channel flow with particle transport was investigated by use of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach coupled with dynamic the SubGrid Scale (SGS) model. It was assumed that the motion of each particle is followed in a Lagrangian frame of reference driven by the forces exerted by fluid motion and gravity under the condition of one-way coupling. The goal of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the I.ES technique for predicting particle transport in turbulent flow and the behavior of particle-laden turbulent channel flow for three kinds of particles at different Stokes numbers. To depict the behavior of particle-laden turbulent channel flow, statistical quantities including particle fluctuation and fluid-particle velocity correlation, and visualization of the particle number density field were analyzed.  相似文献

A numerical simulation on 2-D open channel turbulence using the two-equationturbulent model(k-e model) is made.The diseretization equations of depth-averaged 2-D differ-ential equation are obtained by the control-volume formulation.Some examples including theflows in straight open channel,symmetry sudden expansion and one-side sudden expansion arecalculated by using the SIMPLE algorithm.The distributions of the flow velocity u,the kineticturbulent energy k,and the turbulent viscosity μ,etc.are obtained.The numerical calculationsindicate a good agreement with experimental data and other turbulent models calulations.  相似文献

Results of several Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of open channel flows with non-submerged vegetation are presented in this article. It is shown that the vegetation can make the flow structure in the mainstream direction uniform for both supercritical and subcritical flows. For subcritical flows, the LES results of the ensemble-average of time-averaged velocity distributions at four vertical sections around a single plant are in good agreement with measurements. The velocity sees double peaks at the upper and lower positions of flows. For supercritical flows, the ensemble-average velocities see some discrepancy between LES and measurement results. Some secondary flow eddies appear near the single plant, and they just locate in the positions of the double peaks in stream-wise velocity profiles. It is also found that the vegetation drag coefficient deceases as the Froude number increases.  相似文献

Turbulent open channel flows subjected to the control of a spanwise traveling wave have been investigated by means of Direct Numerical Simulation(DNS).The objective of this study is to reveal the response of the near-wall and surface-influenced turbulence to the spanwise traveling wave control.Three typical frequencies of the spanwise traveling wave,i.e.,high-,middle-and low-frequency,corresponding to the exciting periods at 25,50 and 100,are considered to study the turbulence dynamics in the wall and surface regions.To elucidate the behaviors of turbulence statistics,some typical quantities,including the mean velocity,velocity fluctuations and the structures of turbulence fluctuations,are exhibited and analyzed.  相似文献

Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of fully developed turbulent channel flow with heat transfer was performed to investigate the effects of the Reynolds number on the turbulence behavior. In the present study, the bottom wall of the channel was cooled and the top wall was heated. The Reynolds numbers, based on the central mean-velocity and the half-width of the channel, were chosen as 4000, 6000, 104 and 2×104, and the Prandtl number as 1.0. To validate our calculations, the present results were compared with available data obtained by Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS), which proves to be in good agreement with each other. To reveal the effects of the Reynolds number, some typical quantities, including the velocity fluctuations, temperature fluctuation, heat fluxes and turbulent Prandtl number, were studied.  相似文献

An analysis is made on the numerical results of the vortex-shedding flow about a circular cylinder in the subcritical regime( R, = 1. 4× 105) obtained by using the LES approach with a hybrid boundary condition at the cylinder wall. A new method is presented to model the vorticity-dissipation mechanism of the real 3-D flow by introducing momentum-sink terms into the 2-D flow equations of primitive variables. TO show the effects of the added sink terms, a comparison is given between the flow behaviors produced by the 2-D models with and without vorticity-dissipation mechanism.  相似文献

Channel confluences are universally present in nature. They can be divided into two types:asymmetrical river confluences and symmetric river confluences. The latter is also called as the Y-shaped confluences. Most of previous work has paid more attention to the asymmetrical river confluences, but few studies have been conducted on the Y-shaped confluences. In this article, the effects of bed discordance on the flow patterns at"Y"shaped open-channel confluences were studied by using a 3-D numerical simulation. It is proved that the model can undertake quantitative assessment of the flow at confluences. The results indicate that there are a lot of differences between the Y-shaped confluence and asymmetrical confluence. The discordant bed height plays an important role at the Y-shaped junction.  相似文献

A RNG numerical model together with a laboratory measurement with Micro ADV are adopted to investigate the flow through a 180o curved open channel(a 4 m straight inflow section,a 180o curved section,and a 4m straight outflow section)partially covered with rigid vegetations on its inner bank.Under the combined action of the vegetation and the bend flow,the flow structure is complex.The stream-wise velocities in the vegetation region are much smaller than those in the non-vegetation region due to the retardation caused by the vegetation.For the same reason,no clear circulation is found in the vegetated region,while in the non-vegetation region,a slight counter-rotating circulation is found near the outer bank at both 90o and downstream curved cross-sections.A comparison between the numerical prediction and the laboratory measurement shows that the RNG model can well predict the flow structure of the bend flow with vegetation.Furthermore,the shear stress is analyzed based on the numerical prediction.The much smaller value in the inner vegetated region indicates that the vegetation can effectively protect the river bank from scouring and erosion,in other words,the sediment is more likely to be deposited in the vegetation region.  相似文献

The mean square displacements of fluid particles in a turbulent channel flow at Reτ = 100 are investigated using a modified Langevin equation, and are compared with DNS results. Both the Lagrangian integral time scales directly obtained from DNS and the predicted values using an empirical relation between the Eulerian and the Lagrangian integral time scales are used in the modified Langevin equation to test the effects of integral time scales on the dispersion of particles. The results show that the slight variation of the Lagrangian integral time scale has little influence on the dispersion. The agreement between results of the model equation and those of DNS is satisfactory except the streamwise dispersion for intermediate times (20 <t* < 300), where the results of the model equation are slightly overestimated compared to those of DNS. The cause of such discrepancy is discussed.  相似文献

A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) technique was applied to solve the turbulent channel flow for Rer = 150.Three types of turbulence models are employed, such as the Smagorinsky model, the Dynamic Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) model and the Generalized Normal Stress (GNS) model. The simulated data in time series for the LES were averaged in both time and space to carry out the statistical analysis. Results of LES were compared with that of a DNS. An experiment concerning the sound propaga-tion in aerated open channel flow was designed and conductedin a variable slope chute. The acquisition of sound data wasdone by the hydro-phones installed into the bottom wall of thechute. The data were analyzed and processed by the tape re-corder and a 3562A analyzer. The primary experimetal resultsindicated that the sound speed in aerated flow is varied with the air concentration and highly lower than each of the soundspeed in pure water or air. As released by the derived theoryformula, the minimum sound of 24m/s in aerated flow hap-pened when the air concentration achieved to 50%. This resultshows that the compressibility of high speed aerated flowshould be considered when the air concentration is near to50%.
