Luminescence and low temperature trap centers in mixed rare earth borate crystal

The single crystal of this compound has been grown from melt by using a conventional Czochralski technique. The temperature dependent luminescence spectra were measured using a 265 nm laser as an exciting source in the range of 10–300 K. The scintillation decay time profile was measured and found to have three components. The influence of the trap centers on the luminescence properties was studied by means of thermoluminescence (TL) glow peak analysis. Low temperature TL glow peaks were measured in the temperature range of 10–300 K at the heating rate of 0.1 K/s for X-ray irradiated sample. The TL glow peak consists of two dominant peaks at 88 and 109 K. Several glow peaks with a complex nature causes the decrease in the light yield at temperatures below 250 K, and along with long scintillation decay components were observed. The trap parameters such as activation energy (E), frequency factor (s) and order of kinetics (b) were calculated using various standard methods such as peak shape (PS), variable heating rate (VHR), initial rise (IR) and computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD).

氩直流辉光等离子体钢液脱氮的研究

用25 kg真空感应炉对0.02%C钢液进行氩直流(DC)辉光等离子体条件的脱氮实验,研究了氩辉光等离子体对钢液脱氮动力学的影响。结果表明,氩辉光等离子体钢液脱氮速度和脱氮效果明显优于真空钢液脱氮,当钢液氧含量为180×10^-6,在氩辉光等离子体下钢液中氮含量可降至9×10^-6。氩辉光等离子体对钢液的脱氮效果体现在界面化学反应上,提供了加速脱氮反应的动力学条件。     

Pharmacokinetics of medroxyprogesterone acetate after single and multiple injection of Cyclofem in Chinese women

The intake of fluorides with water, food, dental fluoride preparations, or in particular fluoride supplements, such as NaF tablets, may lead to dental fluorosis. In the present study conducted in a nonfluoridated area in Germany, developmental enamel defects were examined using the Modified Developmental Defects of Enamel Index (Mod DDE Index), which subdivides enamel defects into the categories demarcated (Mod DDE score 1) and diffuse (Mod DDE score 2) opacities and hypoplasia (Mod DDE score 3). 158 children, between 8.5 and 10 years old, were assigned to three examination groups, defined by three different fluoride tablet programs. The children in all three examination groups, F1, F2, and F3, had received 0.25 mg F-/day up to the age of 2 years, F1 and F3 from birth on, F2 beginning with the 7th month of life. F1 and F2 received 0.5 mg F-/day during the 3rd and 0.75 mg F-/day during the 4th and 5th year of life. For F3, beginning with the 3rd year of life, no further recommendations were made. 158 sociodemographically matched children living in a neighboring town served as controls and did not take part in any structured fluoride supplementation program. The proportions of children with Mod DDE scores 1, 2, or 3 at least in one index tooth were significantly higher in the examination groups (40%) than in the control group (20%). Also, the proportions of children with Mod DDE score 2 at least in one index tooth were significantly higher in the examination groups (18%) than in the control group (8%). The proportions of children with Mod DDE score 1 at least in one index tooth were 25% in the examination groups and 17% in the control group. No Mod DDE score 3 was found. Not more than 5% of the children in each group had 50% of their teeth with Mod DDE score 1, 2, or 3. The proportions of teeth per child with Mod DDE score 2 were significantly higher in the examination group than in the control group. While uncontrolled variables cannot be excluded, the observed differences between the experimental and control groups may be attributed to the ingestion of fluoride tablets in the experimental group.     

Colour Centres and Energy Transfer in BaF2-xClx:Eu2+ Phosphors

The optical absorption spectra of BaF2-xClx:Eu2 after ultraviolet (UV) light excitation were investigated.The differences between the absorption spectra after and before excitation (DAS) were observed.The DAS increase at both the high and the low energy side of F band in BaF2-xClx:Eu2 after 245 nm UV light excitation.The bleach effect of UV light and the absorption of electrons in the valence band may account for the former and the formation of Fa centres (association of F(Cl-) centres), whose absorption band matches the HeNe laser better, may explain the latter.In the write-in process, the transfer of electrons is via tunneling.In the readout process, the transfer of electrons captured in F(F-) and Fa centres is more likely via tunneling, and that of F(Cl-) centres is more likely via conduction band.
