High‐purity semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes (s‐SWCNTs) are of paramount significance for the construction of next‐generation electronics. Until now, a number of elaborate sorting and purification techniques for s‐SWCNTs have been developed, among which solution‐based sorting methods show unique merits in the scale production, high purity, and large‐area film formation. Here, the recent progress in the solution processing of s‐SWCNTs and their application in electronic devices is systematically reviewed. First, the solution‐based sorting and purification of s‐SWCNTs are described, and particular attention is paid to the recent advance in the conjugated polymer‐based sorting strategy. Subsequently, the solution‐based deposition and morphology control of a s‐SWCNT thin film on a surface are introduced, which focus on the strategies for network formation and alignment of SWCNTs. Then, the recent advances in electronic devices based on s‐SWCNTs are reviewed with emphasis on nanoscale s‐SWCNTs' high‐performance integrated circuits and s‐SWCNT‐based thin‐film transistors (TFT) array and circuits. Lastly, the existing challenges and development trends for the s‐SWCNTs and electronic devices are briefly discussed. The aim is to provide some useful information and inspiration for the sorting and purification of s‐SWCNTs, as well as the construction of electronic devices with s‐SWCNTs.  相似文献

High purity semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes (s‐SWCNTs) with a narrow diameter distribution are required for high‐performance transistors. Achieving this goal is extremely challenging because the as‐grown material contains mixtures of s‐SWCNTs and metallic‐ (m‐) SWCNTs with wide diameter distributions, typically inadequate for integrated circuits. Since 2000, numerous ex situ methods have been proposed to improve the purity of the s‐SWCNTs. The majority of these techniques fail to maintain the quality and integrity of the s‐SWCNTs with a few notable exceptions. Here, the progress in realizing high purity s‐SWCNTs in as‐grown and post‐processed materials is highlighted. A comparison of transistor parameters (such as on/off ratio and field‐effect mobility) obtained from test structures establishes the effectiveness of various methods and suggests opportunities for future improvements.  相似文献

Polycrystalline ceramic/single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) composites possess unique grain boundaries, containing 1D tortuous SWNTs bundles that form 2D tangled embedded nets. This unprecedented grain‐boundary structure allows tailoring of multifunctional ceramic/SWNTs composites with unique combinations of desirable mechanical (toughness, strength, creep) and transport (electrical, thermal) properties. A brief discussion and analysis of recent developments in these composites are presented.  相似文献

Aligned, ultralong single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) represent attractive building blocks for nanoelectronics. The structural uniformity along their tube axis and well‐ordered two‐dimensional architectures on wafer surfaces may provide a straightforward platform for fabricating high‐performance SWNT‐based integrated circuits. On the way towards future nanoelectronic devices, many challenges for such a specific system also exist. This Review summarizes the recent advances in the synthesis, identification and sorting, transfer printing and manipulation, device fabrication and integration of aligned, ultralong SWNTs in detail together with discussion on their major challenges and opportunities for their practical application.  相似文献

Well‐defined length fractions of DNA‐wrapped single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) of below 200 nm are taken up preferentially by IMR‐90 human lung fibroblasts, while longer DNA wrapped SWNTs are excluded from the cell interior (inset), report Matt Becker and coworkers on p. 939. The cover image construct includes overlaid images of the labeled cell membrane, the nuclei (blue), and the fluorescently labeled DNA wrapped SWNTs (red) that have gained access to the cell interior.  相似文献

The purity of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is a key parameter for their integration in electronic, optoelectronic and photonic devices. Samples of pristine SWNTs are inhomogeneous in terms of electric behavior and diameter and contain a variety of amorphous carbon and catalyst residues. To obtain high performance devices, purification of SWNTs is required. Conjugated polymers have emerged as efficient solubilizing and sorting agents for small diameter SWNTs (HiPco tubes, 0.7 nm<Ø<1.1 nm). Nevertheless, reports on polymers able to efficiently sort large diameter SWNTs with Ø>1.1 nm are lacking. Several pyridine‐containing copolymers were synthesized for this purpose and showed efficient and selective extraction of semiconducting large diameter SWNTs (PLV tubes, Ø>1.1 nm). High concentration and high purity suspensions are obtained without the use of ultracentrifugation, which gives an up‐scaling potential of the method. The emission wavelength is in near infrared region around 1550 nm and fits with broadly used telecommunication wavelength window. The processes taking place at the interface were simulated by a newly designed hybrid coarse‐grain model combining density functional theory and geometrical calculation to yield insights into the wrapping processes with an unprecedented level of details for such large diameter SWNTs.  相似文献

The nucleation and growth of single‐walled carbon nanotubes is observed in situ in a transmission electron microscope. Carbon atoms are implanted into catalytically active metal particles by electron‐beam sputtering. The metal particles are then shaped with a focused electron beam. Once the particles have a region of high surface curvature, spontaneous nucleation and growth of single‐walled carbon nanotubes occurs on the metal particles. It is shown that the local solubility of carbon in the metal determines the nucleation of nanotubes. This is confirmed by atomistic computer simulations treating the solubility of carbon in a metal particle as a function of the size of the system.  相似文献

Ultrathin films of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) represent an attractive, emerging class of material, with properties that can approach the exceptional electrical, mechanical, and optical characteristics of individual SWNTs, in a format that, unlike isolated tubes, is readily suitable for scalable integration into devices. These features suggest the potential for realistic applications as conducting or semiconducting layers in diverse types of electronic, optoelectronic and sensor systems. This article reviews recent advances in assembly techniques for forming such films, modeling and experimental work that reveals their collective properties, and engineering aspects of implementation in sensors and in electronic devices and circuits with various levels of complexity. A concluding discussion provides some perspectives on possibilities for future work in fundamental and applied aspects.  相似文献
