Optical Burst Switching (OBS) has been proposed as a promising switching technology for the next generation of optical transport networks. In this paper, we address the issue of how to provide proportional differentiated services in OBS networks. Firstly, a Dynamic Wavelength Selection (DWS) scheme is introduced to provide proportional differentiated services in bufferless OBS networks by dynamically assigning more and longer periods of wavelengths to high priority classes. This scheme can also utilize wavelengths efficiently because the wavelengths are shared among different classes. Next, a Delayed Burst Assignment (DBA) scheme is introduced, by which bursts of the high priority class are given a higher probability for reserving wavelengths by scheduling the bursts of the low priority class with a delay to provide quality of service (QoS) in OBS networks. The integration of these two schemes provides proportional differentiated services and improves the burst loss performance by giving the burst head packet (BHP) two opportunities of scheduling its data burst (DB). 相似文献

In optical burst switching (OBS) networks, burst contentions in OBS core nodes may cause data loss. To reduce data loss, retransmission scheme has been applied. However, uncontrolled retransmission may increase network load significantly and data loss probability defeating the retransmission purpose. In addition, in a priority traffic existing OBS network, OBS nodes may apply different retransmission mechanisms to priorities bursts for quality-of-service (QoS) support. This study has developed a controlled retransmission scheme for prioritized burst segmentation to support QoS in OBS networks. Unlike previous works in the literature, we have set a different value to retransmission probability at each contention and propose a retransmission analytical model for burst segmentation contention resolution scheme. In addition, we have applied the proposed retransmission scheme to the prioritized burst segmentation for QoS support. We have taken into account the load at each link due to both fresh and retransmitted traffic, and have calculated the path blocking probability and byte loss probability (ByLP) for high-priority and low-priority burst to evaluate network performance. 在光突发交换(OBS)网络中,突发包会由于竞争OBS核心节点输出端口的有限波长资源而发生冲突。突发包重传能够在一定程度上减少由于突发包在核心节点冲突而导致的数据损失,但重传次数的增加可能会加重网络负荷,反而增加数据丢失率。并且,在多业务存在的OBS网络中,重传方案需要能够实现区分服务以保证网络的服务质量(QoS)。据此,本文提出一种基于突发包优先级分割的可控重传方案,在实施优先级分割的同时,根据网络负荷赋予每次重传不同的概率,并对重传次数加以控制。最后,仿真分析了路径阻塞率和不同优先级业务的字节丢失率(ByLP,byte loss probability)性能。 相似文献

为了有效地降低突发包的丢失率和保证OBS网络中不同优先级业务的服务质量,提出了一种基于优先级的先分割后缓存冲突解决方法。该方法通过在多波长信道系统的输出数据信道上设置光纤延迟线组来缓存被分割的冲突突发包。当冲突发生时,首先基于突发包的优先级和处理完毕时间进行"竞争突发包头部分割或者原突发包尾部分割"处理;无冲突部分进行交换或者直接在事先预留的输出数据信道上处理,冲突部分的分割突发包进行光缓存。仿真结果表明,多波长信道系统中,高优先级突发包的丢失率低于低优先级突发包的丢失率。同时该方法在一定程度上可以有效地减少端到端的传输时延和整个网络的丢包率,从而提高整个OBS网络的性能。 相似文献

Optical burst switching (OBS) is a promising technique for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks. In practice, wavelength converters (WCs) are either absent or only sparsely deployed in WDM networks due to economic and technical limitations. Thus, wavelength assignment is expected to be an important component of OBS networks. In this paper, an offline wavelength assignment scheme in OBS networks without wavelength conversion capability is proposed. The key idea of the scheme is to decide the wavelength searching order of each traffic connection at edge nodes according to the wavelength priorities determined by the calculated burst loss probabilities on different wavelengths. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme can reduce the network-wide burst loss probability significantly compared with other schemes. It is also illustrated that the performance of the proposed scheme can be further enhanced by a larger number of wavelengths per link and a reasonable delay bound at edge nodes. 相似文献

提出了一种基于突发丢失门限的条件偏射路由算法(LDFD),该算法采用丢弃少量偏射的高优先级突发来保证偏射路由上较低优先级非偏射突发的服务质量(QoS)。当偏射的高优先级突发到达核心节点而该节点没有空闲数据信道时,就启用定义的偏射条件检测函数来判断是丢弃该突发还是允许其抢占非偏射的低优先级突发的资源,从而减少偏射突发与偏射路由上原有突发的竞争。仿真表明,该算法可以很好地控制偏射突发对偏射路由上正常流量的影响,并有效地提高整个网络的突发丢失性能。 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a protocol architecture and quality of service (QoS) supporting algorithms for optical Internet based on optical burst switching (OBS) technology. Firstly, the function of each layer of the protocol architecture and the formats of control packets are defined in order to adopt GMPLS to the control plane of OBS. Then, the offset time decision (OTD) algorithm to cooperate with the proposed protocol architecture is designed for optical Internet. A new burst loss formula taking into account the effect of offset time is introduced to design the OTD algorithm. This algorithm can decide on the appropriate priority-offset time according to the required QoS by using the reversed equation of the so-called heuristic loss formula (HLF) which is approximated as a proportional equation of our new loss formula. Finally, we propose a CAC algorithm based on the OTD algorithm for the purpose of increasing the availability of wavelength resources and supporting the QoS of established connections in optical Internet. A fundamental issue in optical burst switching (OBS) networks is to solve the burst contention for the core node. In this
paper, a novel priority-based contention solution strategy for OBS networks is proposed. When the contention occurs, the burst
priority is considered firstly, and then the burst segmentation method is used for the low priority bursts in this strategy.
Ensuring the integrity of high priority bursts, part of the segmented bursts can be transmitted to the destination node via
combining wavelength conversion and optical buffer method. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme not only ensures
the integrity of high priority bursts, but also reduces the packet loss rate of the low priority bursts maximally, so that

The most important design goal in Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks is to reduce burst loss resulting from resource contention.
Especially, the higher the congestion degree in the network is, the higher the burst loss rate becomes. The burst loss performance
can be improved by employing an appropriate congestion control. In this paper, to actively avoid contentions, we propose a
dynamic load-aware congestion control scheme that operates based on the highest (called ‘peak load’) of the loads of all links
over the path between each pair of ingress and egress nodes in an OBS network. We also propose an algorithm that dynamically
determines a load threshold for adjusting burst sending rate, according to the traffic load in a network. Further, a simple
signalling method is developed for our proposed congestion control scheme. The proposed scheme aims to (1) reduce the burst
loss rate in OBS networks and (2) maintain reasonable throughput and fairness. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme
reduces the burst loss rate significantly, compared to existing OBS protocols (with and without congestion control), while
maintaining reasonable throughput and fairness. Simulation results also show that our scheme keeps signalling overhead due

Optical burst switching (OBS) is a promising switching paradigm for building the next generation optical internet. The proportional
differentiation model is very convenient for network operators to quantitatively adjust the quality differentiation among
service classes. To provide proportional differentiated services for OBS networks, a proportional differentiation scheme based
on batch scheduling is proposed in this article. The scheme adopts the batch scheduling idea to reserve data channel resources
for a batch of data bursts. It helps to decrease burst dropping probability. When some data bursts are unsuccessfully scheduled,
a preemption method is used to keep a proportional burst dropping probability among service classes according to the expected
burst dropping probability equations given by the proportional differentiation model. The scheme has low computational complexity.
Simulation results show that the scheme can provide proportional differentiated services and efficiently decrease the burst
dropping probability.

Optical burst switching (OBS) is a promising technology for next-generation optical networks. Slotted OBS is an improved version of OBS to reduce burst loss rate, in which wavelength channels are divided into time slots. Slotted OBS has an implicit and under-used property that resources for two bursts with the same source and the same destination are interchangeable. The property further means that resource for a long-distance burst can be partially used by a short-distance burst. In this paper, we utilize the property to design a resource reservation scheme for slotted OBS networks. The scheme reserves a batch of slots every time; the specific number of slots is calculated according to number of arrived bursts and partial success rate (a newly introduced conception in this paper) at each node. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can get lower burst loss rate, comparing with the well-performing two-way signaling scheme. 相似文献

Because of its scalability, the idea of coarse packet classification can be utilized to OBS networks. However, due to the limited number of priorities supported by OBS networks, we usually adopt a many-to-one composite class burst (CCB) assembly technique, e.g., N:1-CCB. In this kind of technique, there are two aspects related to scalable QoS support, i.e., mapping relationship and assembly resource allocation. This paper simultaneously takes the two aspects into consideration, and proposes a novel assembly mapping mechanism, called Optimized TQ-MAP, in which the most important feature is adaptivity. Based on nonlinear programming and differential calculus, it allocates the burst assembling capacity between classes fairly, efficiently and differentially, and matches IP QoS requirement with OBS QoS capacity as possible as it can. The simulation results show that Optimized TQ-MAP is more adaptive, and can efficiently guarantee the coherence of QoS support from IP to OBS. 相似文献
