This paper introduces Kaomi, a scalable toolkit for designing authoring environments of multimedia documents. The underlying concept is to provide the designer of multimedia applications with a fast method to get an authoring system based on a set of synchronized views (the presentation view for displaying the document, the scenario view for showing the temporal organization of the document, ...) so that each view is the support of editing actions. Kaomi is flexible enough to support a variety of multimedia documents declarative formats. It is indeed a scalable toolkit since it provides facilities for extending and/or for modifying the resulting authoring environment. In addition, cross-platform portability is provided which allows operation in the heterogenous Internet environment. The use of Kaomi is mainly described through the design of two authoring environments: one for authoring a sub-set of the Smil standard of the W3C and the other one for Madeus, a constraint based multimedia language.  相似文献

Authoring a multimedia document requires to specify both its spatial layout and its temporal organization, i.e. when and where objects such as pictures, texts and videos appear/disappear on /from the screen and when objects such as audios and videos start/end to play. In this paper, we present some benefits authors can gain when using an authoring tool in which constraints are used to specify these two kinds of information. We describe our experience in building Madeus, a constraint-based environment to design multimedia documents and we point out technical problems that still need to be solved to more completely satisfy author requirements.  相似文献

As the amount of information technology increases, managing information resources, so that the correct people can find the information easily, becomes a critical issue. Hypermedia systems are considered one solution to this problem as they provide a means for representing higher level relationships between the underlying information. However, the amount of information available electronically is increasing at an accelerated rate. Using standard hypermedia authoring techniques, the effort required managing and maintaining large-scale hypermedia systems is enormous. Hypermedia authoring in the large requires new methodologies if it is going to be feasible.This paper presents a new model for building and structuring large-scale hypermedia applications. It describes a case study that explored the delivery of hypermedia information in an industrial environment on a small scale. Models and techniques developed for that case study were then refined and augmented so they could support the construction of large-scale hypermedia systems. In order to support such endeavors a new linking model is presented that allows the author to explicitly represent abstract concepts contained within the underlying information and interconnect them in some meaningful manner. A prototype system applying this linking technique is presented.  相似文献

The expected benefits of modeling documents using a formal technique are twofold. First, the document's model can be checked against logical errors and unsatisfied timing constraints. Second, the same model can serve as reference for implementation purposes. In this context, the paper discusses a methodology for multimedia document design and implementation on heterogeneous and distributed platforms. The design trajectory starts with document modeling in Hierarchical Timed Stream Petri Nets, goes on with model checking against design errors, and continues with automatic translation of HTSPN models into a Java application. A tool prototype supports the methodology with a document editor, a simulator and a HTSPN to Java generator. Its use is exemplified on a guided tour of Florianopolis City, Brazil.  相似文献

In this paper we present our research and development experience in the context of Interactive Multimedia Documents (IMDs). We define a rich model for such documents covering the issues of interaction and spatiotemporal compositions as means of representing the functionality of an IMD. We exploit the event concept to represent interaction, while complex interactions are covered by a rich algebraic and spatiotemporal event composition scheme. Based on the model we implemented an authoring methodology. Thereafter we present a generic framework for rendering (presenting) IMDs putting emphasis to the handling of interaction and to the temporal synchronization of media objects. The rendering system is implemented as a client-server architecture using Java and accompanying technologies. The implementation is suitable for WWW enabled interactive multimedia documents.  相似文献

针对目前的混合现实用户创作工具对真实世界空间提示信息缺乏,以及对虚拟物体构建能力偏弱的问题,提出具有空间一致性的集成式混合现实三维用户创作工具.首先通过对自然特征的提取建立具有二维及三维信息的相对参照空间,然后识别已知尺度标志物,把相对参照空间转化为具有空间一致性的绝对参照空间,通过与商用三维数字内容创作工具的集成实现高效的虚拟物体构建与注册.实验结果表明,该工具能够实现“高效创作、准确注册”的目标.  相似文献

Multimedia document authoring is a multifaceted activity, and authoring tools tend to concentrate on a restricted set of the activities involved in the creation of a multimedia artifact. In particular, a distinction may be drawn between the design and the implementation of a multimedia artifact.This paper presents a comparison of three different authoring paradigms, based on the common case study of a simple interactive animation.
