As code is executed correctly under test, confidence in the correctness of the code increases. In this context, an intuitive conceptual model of the process of software testing which draws upon experience gained with mutation analysis is presented. The model is used to explain how the testing of one path can influence confidence in other (possibly unexecuted) paths. It is also discussed in relation to software reliability and systematic structural testing, and is shown to be consistent with observations made during these forms of testing. 相似文献

We evaluate an efficiency model for data warehouse operations using data from USA and non-USA-based (mostly Korean) organizations. The analysis indicates wide dispersions in operational efficiency, industry and region differences, large differences in labor budgets between efficient and inefficient firms, few organizations efficient in both refresh processing and query production, and difficulty of providing some variables. Follow-up interviews provide insights about the value of efficiency comparisons of information technology organizations and suggestions to improve the model. Using this analysis, we propose a framework containing data warehouse characteristics and firm characteristics to explain IT operational efficiency at the subfirm level. 相似文献

航天测控软件系统安全关键等级高,其质量直接决定航天任务成败,具有架构庞大、软件配置项多、内外接口复杂、数据传递路径长、处理实时性强等特点,软件系统测试的要求高且难度大,目前存在系统测试需求不清晰、测试针对性差等实际问题;航天测控软件系统是典型的数据驱动型软件系统,针对其特点,文章提出了一种基于数据源识别和数据流分析的软件系统测试方法,开展了数据源识别、数据流路径分析、数据状态分析和获取、系统级数据流顺序图生成等关键技术研究,给出了该方法的推荐工作流程;该方法已在多个航天测控中心软件系统测试中应用,实践表明,针对数据驱动型软件系统,该方法可以显著提高系统测试的设计有效性和测试效率。 相似文献

Since the early 1970s, decision support systems (DSS) have evolved significantly. In this paper, the design and implementation of MSMiner, a developing platform for DSS, is introduced. The system is constructed on a data warehouse and integrated with a number of data mining algorithms. It is well suited for on-line analytical processing (OLAP). Context
Data warehouse conceptual design is based on the metaphor of the cube, which can be derived from either requirement-driven or data-driven methodologies. Each methodology has its own advantages. The first allows designers to obtain a conceptual schema very close to the user needs but it may be not supported by the effective data availability. On the contrary, the second ensures a perfect traceability and consistence with the data sources—in fact, it guarantees the presence of data to be used in analytical processing—but does not preserve from missing business user needs. To face this issue, the necessity emerged in the last years to define hybrid methodologies for conceptual design.Objective
The objective of the paper is to use a hybrid methodology based on different multidimensional models in order to gather all advantages of each of them.Method
The proposed methodology integrates the requirement-driven strategy with the data-driven one, in that order, possibly performing alterations of functional dependencies on UML multidimensional schemas reconciled with data sources.Results
As case study, we illustrate how our methodology can be applied to the university environment. Furthermore, we evaluate quantitatively the benefits of this methodology by comparing it with some popular and conventional methodologies.Conclusion

The number, variety and complexity of projects involving data mining or knowledge discovery in databases activities have increased just lately at such a pace that aspects related to their development process need to be standardized for results to be integrated, reused and interchanged in the future. Data mining projects are quickly becoming engineering projects, and current standard processes, like CRISP-DM, need to be revisited to incorporate this engineering viewpoint. This is the central motivation of this paper that makes the point that experience gained about the software development process over almost 40 years could be reused and integrated to improve data mining processes.
