Effects of annealing treatment from 923 K to 1023 K (650 °C to 750 °C) prior to cold rolling on the edge cracking phenomenon of a ferritic lightweight steel were investigated. The edge cracking was severely found in the hot-rolled and 923 K (650 °C)-annealed steels after cold rolling, whereas it hardly occurred in the 1023 K (750 °C)-annealed steel. As the annealing temperature increased, lamellar κ-carbides were dissolved and coarsened, and most of the κ-carbides continuously formed along boundaries between ferrite and κ-carbide bands disappeared. Microstructural observation of the deformed region of tensile specimens revealed that the removal of band boundary κ-carbides reduced the difference in tensile elongation along the longitudinal direction (LD) and transverse direction (TD), which consequently led to the reduction in edge cracking. The 1023 K (750 °C)-annealed steel showed fine ferrite grain size, weak texture, and decomposed band structure after subsequent cold rolling and intercritical annealing, because κ-carbides actively worked as nucleation sites of ferrite and austenite. The present annealing treatment prior to cold rolling, which was originally adopted to prevent edge cracking, also beneficially modified the final microstructure of lightweight steel.  相似文献

An ultralightweight Fe–30Mn–13.2Al–1.6C–5Cr steel, which contains more than 13 wt% of Al and thereby reduces the density by 20%, is developed. The ultralightweight steel, which is very brittle due to high Al content, is fabricated by optimizing hot rolling and heat treatment conditions. Hot rolling is conducted after soaking at the temperature range of 1100–1200 °C for 2 h. The ultralightweight steel is hot-rolled successfully after soaking at 1100 °C, whereas specimens soaked at 1150 and 1200 °C are intergranularly cracked after hot rolling, resulting from coarse grain and a large fraction and size of ferrite, which is transformed to ordered DO3 phase during cooling, at the grain boundaries. In homogenization heat treatment, water quenching and air cooling are performed, respectively, after holding at 1050 °C for 2 h. The air-cooled steel has inferior tensile property due to the formation of brittle ordered DO3 phase at grain boundaries. Meanwhile, the water-quenched steel shows an excellent tensile property, which is attributed to a uniform microstructure comprising austenite, fine κ-carbide in austenite, and a very small fraction of the ordered DO3 phase.  相似文献

In-situ high-energy X-ray diffraction experiments with high temporal resolution during rapid cooling (280 °C s−1) and isothermal heat treatments (at 450 °C, 500 °C, and 550 °C for 30 minutes) were performed to study austenite decomposition in two commercial high-strength low-alloy steels. The rapid phase transformations occurring in these types of steels are investigated for the first time in-situ, aiding a detailed analysis of the austenite decomposition kinetics. For the low hardenability steel with main composition Fe-0.08C-1.7Mn-0.403Si-0.303Cr in weight percent, austenite decomposition to polygonal ferrite and bainite occurs already during the initial cooling. However, for the high hardenability steel with main composition Fe-0.08C-1.79Mn-0.182Si-0.757Cr-0.094Mo in weight percent, the austenite decomposition kinetics is retarded, chiefly by the Mo addition, and therefore mainly bainitic transformation occurs during isothermal holding; the bainitic transformation rate at the isothermal holding is clearly enhanced by lowered temperature from 550 °C to 500 °C and 450 °C. During prolonged isothermal holding, carbide formation leads to decreased austenite carbon content and promotes continued bainitic ferrite formation. Moreover, at prolonged isothermal holding at higher temperatures some degenerate pearlite form.

The effect of warm rolling on the evolution of microstructure and texture in a duplex stainless steel (DSS) was investigated. For this purpose, a DSS steel was warm rolled up to 90 pct reduction in thickness at 498 K, 698 K, and 898 K (225 °C, 425 °C, and 625 °C). The microstructure with an alternate arrangement of deformed ferrite and austenite bands was observed after warm rolling; however, the microstructure after 90 pct warm rolling at 498 K and 898 K (225 °C and 625 °C) was more lamellar and uniform as compared to the rather fragmented and inhomogeneous structure observed after 90 pct warm rolling at 698 K (425 °C). The texture of ferrite in warm-rolled DSS was characterized by the presence of the RD (〈011〉//RD) and ND (〈111〉//ND) fibers. However, the texture of ferrite in DSS warm rolled at 698 K (425 °C) was distinctly different having much higher fraction of the RD-fiber components than that of the ND-fiber components. The texture and microstructural differences in ferrite in DSS warm rolled at different temperatures could be explained by the interaction of carbon atoms with dislocations. In contrast, the austenite in DSS warm rolled at different temperatures consistently showed pure metal- or copper-type deformation texture which was attributed to the increase in stacking fault energy at the warm-rolling temperatures. It was concluded that the evolution of microstructure and texture of the two constituent phases in DSS was greatly affected by the temperature of warm rolling, but not significantly by the presence of the other phase.  相似文献

采用冷轧+两相区温轧退火(CR+WR+IA)热处理工艺,研究了两相区退火时间对超细晶铁素体与奥氏体中组织形貌演变、C和Mn元素配分行为以及力学性能的影响。结果表明,冷轧试验钢经两相区形变退火处理后,获得了由铁素体、残余奥氏体或新生马氏体组成的超细晶复相组织。在645℃随退火时间的延长,形变马氏体向逆相变奥氏体配分的C、Mn元素增多,C、Mn元素富集位置增加,同时富Mn区形变马氏体回复再结晶现象明显;伴随少量碳化物溶解,试验钢的屈服强度由741持续降低到325MPa。两相区退火10min时,试验钢力学性能最佳,此时抗拉强度达到最大值1141MPa,断后伸长率及均匀伸长率分别为236%和181%,强塑积达到26928MPa·%。  相似文献

For the first time, hot direct rolling was applied in ferrite region in the mill and the resulting quality of the cold rolled and annealed sheet steel was as good as that hot direct rolled in austenite region with respect to microstructure and mechanical properties. In case of ferrite phase rolling, microstructure of the hot strip reveals abnormal grains and deformation bands in the grains, and elongation and r value are not so good as those rolled in the austenite phase. However, these abnormal grains left no traces and appeared to be equiaxed grains like the austenite phase rolled microstructure after 75 % cold rolling and continuous annealing at 830°C. This is attributed to the deformation bands which provide nucleation sites for recrystallization during annealing so that recrystallization occurs uniformly in the matrix. In the present study, effects of Mn addition on cracking phenomenon occurring during cold rolling of ferritic light-weight steels were clarified in relation to microstructural modification involving κ-carbide, austenite, and martensite. Four steels were fabricated by varying Mn contents of 3 to 12 wt pct, and edge areas of steel sheets containing 6 to 9 wt pct Mn were cracked during the cold rolling. The steels were basically composed of ferrite and austenite in a band shape, but a considerable amount of κ-carbide or martensite existed in the steels containing 3 to 6 wt pct Mn. Microstructural observation of the deformed region of fractured tensile specimens revealed that cracks which were initiated at ferrite/martensite interfacial κ-carbides readily propagated along ferrite/martensite interfaces or into martensite areas in the steel containing 6 wt pct Mn, thereby leading to the center or edge cracking during the cold rolling. In the steel containing 9 wt pct Mn, edge cracks were found in the final stage of cold rolling because of the formation of martensite by the strain-induced austenite to martensite transformation, whereas they were hardly formed in the steel containing 12 wt pct Mn. To prevent or minimize the cracking, it was recommended that the formation of martensite during the cooling from the hot rolling temperature or during the cold rolling should be suppressed, which could be achieved by the enhancement of thermal or mechanical stability of austenite with decreasing austenite grain size or increasing contents of austenite stabilizers.  相似文献

The reverse martensitic transformation in cold‐rolled metastable austenitic stainless steel has been investigated via heat treatments performed for various temperatures and times. The microstructural evolution was evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry, X‐ray diffraction and microscopy. Upon heat treatment, both diffusionless and diffusion‐controlled mechanisms determine the final microstructure. The diffusion reversion from α′‐martensite to austenite was found to be activated at about 450°C and the shear reversion is activated at higher temperatures with Af′ ~600°C. The resulting microstructure for isothermal heat treatment at 650°C was austenitic, which inherits the α′‐martensite lath morphology and is highly faulted. For isothermal heat treatments at temperatures above 700°C the faulted austenite was able to recrystallize and new austenite grains with a low defect density were formed. In addition, carbo‐nitride precipitation was observed for samples heat treated at these temperatures, which leads to an increasing Ms‐temperature and new α′‐martensite formation upon cooling.  相似文献

The present study investigated the microstructure evolution and mechanical behavior in a low carbon CMnSiAl transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel, which was subjected to a partial austenitization at 1183 K (910 °C) followed by one-step quenching and partitioning (Q&P) treatment at different isothermal holding temperatures of [533 K to 593 K (260 °C to 320 °C)]. This thermal treatment led to the formation of a multi-phase microstructure consisting of ferrite, tempered martensite, bainitic ferrite, fresh martensite, and retained austenite, offering a superior work-hardening behavior compared with the dual-phase microstructure (i.e., ferrite and martensite) formed after partial austenitization followed by water quenching. The carbon enrichment in retained austenite was related to not only the carbon partitioning during the isothermal holding process, but also the carbon enrichment during the partial austenitization and rapid cooling processes, which has broadened our knowledge of carbon partitioning mechanism in conventional Q&P process.  相似文献

The isothermal transformation vs time of a medium-carbon microalloyed steel at 450 °C, following austenitization at 1250 °C for 45 minutes, has been investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). At short times, the fine microstructure of acicular ferrite is nucleated at MnS inclusions, which are covered by a shell of a hexagonal CuS phase. The special orientation between MnS and the CuS crystals of this shell enables the formation of a low-energy interface between the ferrite and the inclusion with, at the same time, the ferrite satisfying one of the 24 variants of the orientation relationship into the Bain region with austenite. As the treatment times are increased, the increase in the volume fraction of acicular ferrite being formed raises the carbon concentration of the austenite, such that some retained austenite instead of martensite is observed for these intermediate treatment times. This retained austenite transforms to ferrite plus carbides at long treatment times, resulting in a final microstructure of acicular ferrite, very similar in nature to those encountered in the case of upper bainite formation.  相似文献

Quenching and partitioning (Q&P) and a novel combined process of hot straining (HS) and Q&P (HSQ&P) treatments have been applied to a TRIP-assisted steel in a Gleeble®3S50 thermomechanical simulator. The heat treatments involved intercritical annealing at 800 °C and a two-step Q&P heat treatment with a partitioning time of 100 seconds at 400 °C. The “optimum” quench temperature of 318 °C was selected according to the constrained carbon equilibrium (CCE) criterion. The effects of high-temperature deformation (isothermal and non-isothermal) on the carbon enrichment of austenite, carbide formation, and the strain-induced transformation to ferrite (SIT) mechanism were investigated. Carbon partitioning from supersaturated martensite into austenite and carbide precipitation were confirmed by means of atom probe tomography (APT) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). Austenite carbon enrichment was clearly observed in all specimens, and in the HSQ&P samples, it was significantly greater than in Q&P, suggesting an additional carbon partitioning to austenite from ferrite formed by the deformation-induced austenite-to-ferrite transformation (DIFT) phenomenon. By APT, the carbon accumulation at austenite/martensite interfaces was observed, with higher values for HSQ&P deformed isothermally (≈ 11 at. pct), when compared with non-isothermal HSQ&P (≈ 9.45 at. pct) and Q&P (≈ 7.6 at. pct). Moreover, a local Mn enrichment was observed in a ferrite/austenite interface, indicating ferrite growth under local equilibrium with negligible partitioning (LENP).

Steels containing 0.15 pct C and 1.2 pct Si-1.5 pct Mn or 4 pct Ni were intercritically annealed and isothermally transformed between 300 °C and 500 °C for 1 to 60 minutes. The specimens were subjected to tensile testing at room temperature, and the microstructures were evaluated by light microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM, respectively), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microstructures consist of dispersed regions of bainite, martensite, and austenite in a matrix of ferrite, and a maximum of 11.6 pct austenite is retained after isothermal holding at 450 °C in the Si-Mn steel. In specimens where austenite transforms to martensite during quenching after isothermal holding, the stress-strain curves show continuous yielding, high ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and relatively low ductility. In specimens where higher volume fractions of austenite transform to bainite during isothermal holding, the stress-strain curves show discontinuous yielding, low UTS, and high ductility.  相似文献

Orientation microscopy (electron back scatter diffraction, EBSD) is used to investigate the structural and textural states of low-carbon, low-alloy pipe steel (resembling 06Г2MБ steel) after thermomechanical controlled processing (TMCP): heating to 1000°C with subsequent quenching in water; isothermal quenching with holding at 300°C; and slow cooling in the furnace. The heat treatment is associated with double phase recrystallization: α → γ → aht, where aht is martensite, bainite, or ferrite. The texture obtained after TMCP is mainly formed by two strong scattered orientations from {112}〈110〉and two weaker scattered orientations close to {110}〈223〉. Despite the double phase recrystallization, the main crystallographic orientations of the bainite after TMCP and after isothermal quenching are the same. That indicates structural and textural inheritance in the material. The structures obtained after other thermal treatments of the structure (both martensite and ferrite) also include complex multicomponent textures, which are nevertheless distinct. Some of the main textural components of martensite and ferrite are the same as bainitic components. All the structures after heat treatment have a similar spectrum of large-angle boundaries, with strongly expressed boundaries of the coincidence site lattices (CSL): Σ3, Σ11, Σ25b, Σ33c, and Σ41c. The orientations forming the texture of all the structures obtained are related to the main orientation of the deformed austenite grains formed on hot rolling in TMCP, in accordance with orientation relations intermediate between the Kurdjumov–Sachs and Nishiyama–Wasserman types. In all cases, the orientation relationship of the textural components of the initial material and the structure obtained by heat treatment may be explained in terms of the onset of phase transformations (both shear and diffusional transition) at crystallographically determined boundaries (including special boundaries) similar to the CSL boundaries Σ3 and Σ11.  相似文献

The structure and mechanical properties of 35Kh12G3MVFDR steel are investigated. After normalization or quenching, the steel contains up to 35 vol % austenite and may be assigned to the martensitic–austenitic class. On heat treatment—tempering, isothermal holding, or isothermal quenching—the austenite is converted to martensite within 2 h. The martensite in 35Kh12G3MVFDR steel is more thermally stable: the first signs of its conversion to sorbitic structure are observed after 25-h isothermal quenching at 640°C, and its complete decomposition requires 50 h. The breakdown of martensite is accompanied by decrease in the high-temperature strength and hardness. Aging of the quenched and tempered 35Kh12G3MVFDR steel at 670–720°C lowers the hardness from 61–65 HRA to 55–60 HRA after 1600–3200 h and the yield point at 20°C from 1350 MPa to 750–850 MPa. Likewise, the yield point at 720°C declines from 310 MPa to 160–230 MPa after 600 h and then stops. The state of the martensitic structure of 35Kh12G3MVFDR steel determines its creep resistance at 700°C. For example, the martensite remains in the steel structure after relatively brief isothermal quenching (up to 24 h at 640°C), and consequently the creep limit σ700°C 0.1%/h is no lower than after simple quenching with subsequent high tempering: 86.2 ± 9.4 MPa and 89.3 ± 8.8 MPa, respectively. At the same time, in response to the decomposition of martensitic structure as a result of prolonged aging (1600 h at 670°C), σ700°C 0.1%/h declines to 63.9 ± 7.1 MPa. In contrast to martensite, the austenite in 35Kh12G3MVFDR steel is thermally unstable and is converted to martensite after only 1–2 h of heating, depending on the temperature.  相似文献

Two different pearlites after two separate eutectoid reactions were observed in an Fe-19.8 Mn-1.64 Al-1.03 C (wt pct) steel. The steel specimens were processed under solution heat treatment at 1373 K (1100 °C) and received isothermal holding at temperatures from 1073 K to 773 K (800 °C to 500 °C). The constituent phase of the steel is single austenite at temperatures between 1373 K and 1073 K (1100 °C and 800 °C). At temperatures below 1048 K (775 °C), M3C and M23C6 carbides coprecipitate at the austenitic grain boundaries. Two different pearlites appear in the austenite matrix simultaneously at temperatures below 923 K (650 °C). One is lamellae of ferrite and M3C carbide, and the other is lamellae of ferrite and M23C6 carbide. These two pearlites are product phases from two separate eutectoid reactions, i.e., austenite → ferrite + cementite and austenite → ferrite + M23C6. Therefore, the supersaturated austenite has decomposed into two different pearlites, separately.  相似文献

In order to develop a comprehensive understanding of the effect of hot charging temperature on the hot ductility of a Nb‐containing steel, direct hot charging process was simulated by using a Gleeble thermo stress/strain machine. Three kinds of thermal histories were introduced to assess the hot ductility of the steel during continuously cast, hot charging, and cold charging process by means of hot tensile test in relation to surface cracking of hot charging processed steel slabs. The ductility of the specimens charged at the temperature within the range of ferrite/austenite two‐phase region and charged at the temperature just below the Ar1 of the steel is largely reduced. These results can be ascribed to the retained ferrite films at the boundaries of austenite encouraging voiding at the boundaries and these voids gradually link up to give failure around 750°C, and the combination of inhogeneous austenite grain size and precipitations aggravating the ductility trough by encouraging grain boundary sliding at 950°C. The steel via the conventional cold charge process experienced a complete phase transformation from austenite to ferrite and pearlite structure during the cooling to the ambient temperature. This steel can be charged into a reheating furnace and rolled without experiencing hot embrittlement due to the recrystallization and the precipitates are trapped inside a newly formed grain of austenite. In comparison with the hot ductility results, the hot tensile strength is only slight influenced by the charging temperature.  相似文献

The effect of treatment time on the microstructure of AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel during liquid nitrocarburizing (LNC) at 703 K (430 °C) was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experimental results revealed that the modified layer was covered with the alloy surface and the modified layer depth increased extensively from 2 to 33.4 μm with increasing treatment time. SEM and XRD showed that when the 304 stainless steel sample was subjected to LNC at 703 K (430 °C) for less than 4 hours, the main phase of the modified layer was expanded austenite. When the treatment time was prolonged to 8 hours, the abundant expanded austenite was formed and it partially transformed into CrN and ferrite subsequently. With the increased treatment time, more and more CrN precipitate transformed in the overwhelming majority zone in the form of a typical dendritic structure in the nearby outer part treated for 40 hours. Still there was a single-phase layer of the expanded austenite between the CrN part and the inner substrate. TEM showed the expanded austenite decomposition into the CrN and ferrite after longtime treatment even at low temperature.  相似文献

The influence of hot deformation on the microstructure of a hot-rolled Si-Mn transformation-induced-plasticity (TRIP) steel was evaluated in an effort to better control retained austenite content. In this study, axial compressive strains varying in amounts from 0 to 60 pct were imposed in the austenite phase field, and effects on the formation of polygonal ferrite, bainite, and retained austenite were determined. In addition, modifications in simulated coiling temperature from 420 °C to 480 °C and cooling rates from the rolling temperature, between 10 °C/s and 35 °C/s, were assessed. Fast cooling rates, low coiling temperatures, and low degrees of hot deformation were generally found to decrease the amount of polygonal ferrite and increase retained austenite fraction. Unexpectedly, a sharp increase in polygonal ferrite content and decrease in retained austenite content occurred when the fastest cooling rate, 35 °C/s, was coupled with extensive hot deformation and high coiling temperatures. This effect is believed to be due to insufficient time for full recovery and recrystallization of the deformed austenite, even in the absence of intentional microalloying additions to control recrystallization kinetics. The resultant decrease in hardenability allowed the ferrite transformation to continue into the holding time at high (simulated) coiling temperatures.  相似文献

Deposits of the carbonitrides (Ti, Nb)(C, N), Nb(C, N), and (Nb, V)(C, N) in the austenite and ferrite phases of X70 steel sheet after thermomechanical treatment are investigated. Nb(C, N) particles measuring up to 10 nm are seen in austenite in the final stage of rolling and after its conclusion prior to accelerated cooling of thick sheet. After intense accelerated cooling, most of the niobium and vanadium is retained in the solid solution, as confirmed by the vigorous deposition of (Nb, V)(C, N) particles measuring ∼2–4 nm in ferrite after tempering at 600°C. In coil production, the particles observed may be the result of general deposition or interphase deposition, depending on the cooling of the strip on the output roller conveyer of the continuous broad-strip mill. Carbonitride particles measuring 2–8 nm are deposited at winding temperatures of 550–570°C in steel with niobium and vanadium and at 590°C in steel without vanadium.  相似文献
