The applications of energy in Colombia, India and Upper Volta, for which an improvement in the situation is the most urgent, are described. to a more limited extent these applications have also been investigated with respect to Niger, Pakistan and Senegal. the technical economic possibilities of achieving these improvements by means of solar energy in the period up to 1985 are discussed. Concerning those cases which offer a reasonable chance of the use of solar energy, the investigation then turns to the kind of co-operative programmes between industrialized countries and the developing countries being considered which might contribute to putting these opportunities into practice. This study has revealed the following programmes as offering the best possibilities. 1. Small thermal electric generators powered by concentrated sunlight at an operating temperature of about 300°C, the principal application being the driving of pumps for irrigation in India and Pakistan. 2. Small absorber cooling systems for India and Pakistan. 3. Drinking-water purification for Niger, Pakistan, Senegal and Upper Volta. 4. Battery-charging systems for India and Pakistan. 5. Reforestation for firewood production, close to the major towns of the Sahel countries. Furthermore, much importance is found to attach to the improving of the efficiency of cooking.  相似文献

To clarify the feasibility of introducing solar total energy system into various factories, an experimental facility was constructed at Tsukuba Second Research Center on March 1982. Long-term experimental studies are presently being continued to determine the operating characteristic of the facility. This facility is constructed to improve the system availability and to collect effectively solar energy under fairly bad weather conditions as experienced in Japan. To accomplish this purpose, it is operated by selecting one of three operating modes according to the intensity of insolation and the thermal condition of the heat storage unit. In this paper, the outline of the facility is described. Experimental results show that in this facility the operating rate increases and useful energy, such as electricity, can be obtained from solar energy if the operating mode is selected according to the weather condition at 8:00 a.m.  相似文献

In the first paper of a series of two publications entitled “A comprehensive review of solar facades. Opaque solar facades” an exhaustive review of scientific studies carried out during the last decade on opaque solar facades was proposed. The paper dealt with facades that absorb and reflect the incident solar radiation but cannot transfer directly solar heat gain into the building. This article offers a complementary survey of studies conducted during the same period of time on transparent and translucent solar facades, highlighting the categories of ventilated facades and semi-transparent building-integrated photovoltaic facades.  相似文献

An embedded two‐axis solar tracking system using Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench to write the operation and control algorithms was developed for enhancing solar energy utilization. The system consists of a real‐time processor, two motion‐control modules, two step drives, two step motors, feedback devices, and other accessories needed for functional stability. The real‐time processor allows the solar tracker to be used as a stand‐alone, real‐time system that can operate automatically without any external control. The system combines two different solar tracking methods: the optical method and the astronomical method. Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) sensors are employed to continuously generate feedback signals to the controller, ensuring high‐precision solar tracking even under adverse conditions. The CdS sensor is a resistor whose electric resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity. A database of solar altitude, azimuth, and sunrise and sunset times is provided by this solar tracking system. Other solar trackers operating in an astronomical method may access and use this database over the Internet. Solar position and sunrise and sunset times in the database were compared with those of the Astronomical Applications Department of the U.S. Naval Observatory. In the presented paper, energy and exergy analysis is performed for thermochemical hydrogen (H2) production facility based on solar power. Thermal power used in thermochemical cycles and electricity production is obtained from concentrated solar power systems. In order to investigate the effect of thermochemical cycles on hydrogen production, three different cycles which are low temperature Mg–Cl, H2SO4 and UT-3 cycles are compared. Reheat-regenerative Rankine and recompression S–CO2 Brayton power cycles are considered to supply electricity needed in the Mg–Cl and H2SO4 thermochemical cycles. Furthermore, the effects of instant solar radiation and concentration ratio on the system performance are investigated. The integration of S–CO2 Brayton power cycle instead of reheat-regenerative Rankine enhances the system performance. The maximum exergy efficiency which is obtained in the system with Mg–Cl thermochemical and recompression S–CO2 Brayton power cycles is 27%. Although the energy and exergy efficiencies decrease with the increase of the solar radiation, they increase with the increase of the concentration ratio. The highest exergy destruction occurred in the solar energy unit.  相似文献
