Processing of magnesium (Mg) matrix composites reinforced with low reinforcement content (up to 4-5 vol.%) of graphene nanoplates (GNPs) and silicon carbide (SIC) nanoparticles using bait milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) is reported. Near full densification was observed for all the composite compositions at the sintering temperature of 450 ~C (soaking time of 5 min and applied pressure of 50 MPa). Detailed analysis of the microstructure and mechanical and tribological (under dry sliding contact with alumina counter-face) properties with reinforcement content in Mg-GNP and Mg-SiC is presented. Mg-GNP and Mg-SiC composites reinforced with about 2 vol.% of reinforcement content exhibited significant improvement in microhardness and wear resistance as compared with Mg compacts. 相似文献

Al alloy matrix composites reinforced with copper-coated graphite particle have been prepared by melt stirring process in this work. The effect of the addition of Mg on distribution of the graphite particles has been investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the micro-morphology of Al alloy matrix composites reinforced with graphite particles. Meanwhile, the content of graphite was analyzed in the different position of casting by dissolution method and the mechanical properties of the composites were detected. The results show that the content of graphite increase with increasing Mg content; the graphite particles distribute uniformly in the particle reinforced metal matrix composites (PMMC) with 0.6 wt pct Mg; however, the agglomeration of the graphite particles is observed obviously in the matrix when Mg content is more than 1.0 wt pct. In addition, the proper Mg addition amount is beneficial to enhance the mechanical properties of the graphite particles reinforced Al alloy matrix composites and the abrasion resistance of the materials due to a reduce friction coefficient. 相似文献

针对SiC颗粒增强镁基复合材料界面的理论研究较少,大多研究仅停留在表征层面等问题。本文采用第一性原理方法,计算了四种不同SiC(0001)/Mg(0001)界面模型的电荷密度、布局分析和界面分离功。结果表明:对于同种终端的SiC(0001)/Mg(0001)界面模型中,顶位型结构比心位型结构的稳定性好;不同终端的SiC(0001)/Mg(0001)的界面模型中,Si终端结构比C终端结构更加稳定,其中Si终端顶位型结构稳定性最好,其分离功为Wsep=3.297 J/m2,界面间距为d0=2.651nm。界面的键合方式主要为C-Mg共价键和Mg-Si离子键。 相似文献

Future Army gun systems will require lighter weight and significantly more erosion-resistant materials. One route to achieve this goal is via the development of ceramic matrix composite barrel liners with lightweight metal matrix composite jackets. Such materials systems are hybrids of a ceramic matrix composite/metal matrix composite (CMC/MMC), which can provide functionally graded properties. A route combining powder metallurgy and subsequent friction stir processing was utilized to fabricate carbon nanotube(CNT) reinforced Al(CNT/AI) and 6061 Al(CNT/6061AI) composites.Microstructural observations indicated that CNTs were uniformly dispersed in the matrix in both CNT/AI and CNT/6061 AI composites.Mg and Si elements tended to segregate at CNT—Al interfaces in the CNT/6061 AI composite during artificial aging treatment.The tensile properties of both the Al and 6061 Al were increased by CNT incorporation.The electrical conductivity of CNT/AI was decreased by CNT addition,while CNT/6061 AI exhibited an increase in electrical conductivity due to the Mg and Si segregation. 相似文献
