Normal point force and point electric charge acting on surface of a transversely isotropic piezoelectric half-space with a functionally graded transversely isotropic piezoelectric coating are considered. Elastic moduli, piezoelectric constants and dielectric permeabilities of the coating vary with depth according to arbitrary functions. Analytical expressions for the elastic displacements and potential of the electrostatic field are derived for a fixed value of the depth coordinate. Asymptotical analysis of these formulas is derived for small and big values of a radial coordinate. An equilibrium of the half-space under the action of axisymmetric mechanical (normal and tangential) and electric loading is studied and a scheme of reducing the solutions of mixed boundary value problems to integral equations is obtained. As an illustration of the obtained solution, the PZT-5H piezoceramics with typical examples of functionally graded and homogeneous coatings are considered. The results include computations of the profiles of displacements and electric potential for different types of variation of electro-elastic properties in the coating.  相似文献

This paper describes a general formulation for free, steady-state and transient vibration analyses of functionally graded shells of revolution subjected to arbitrary boundary conditions. The formulation is derived by means of a modified variational principle in conjunction with a multi-segment partitioning procedure on the basis of the first-order shear deformation shell theory. The material properties of the shells are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction according to general four-parameter power-law distributions in terms of volume fractions of the constituents. Fourier series and polynomials are applied to expand the displacements and rotations of each shell segment. The versatility of the formulation is demonstrated through the application of the following polynomials: Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials, Legendre orthogonal polynomials, Hermite orthogonal polynomials and power polynomials. Numerical examples are given for the free vibrations of functionally graded cylindrical, conical and spherical shells with different combinations of free, shear-diaphragm, simply-supported, clamped and elastic-supported boundary conditions. Validity and accuracy of the present formulation are confirmed by comparing the present solutions with the existing results and those obtained from finite element analyses. As to the steady-state and transient vibration analyses, functionally graded conical shells subjected to axisymmetric line force and distributed surface pressure are investigated. The effects of the material power-law distribution, boundary condition and duration of blast loading on the transient responses of the conical shells are also examined.  相似文献

Exact solutions for functionally graded thick plates are presented based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The plate is assumed isotropic at any point, while material properties to vary exponentially through the thickness. The system of governing partial differential equations is reduced to an ordinary one about the thickness coordinate by expanding the state variables into infinite dual series of trigonometric functions. Interactions between the Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation and the plate are treated as boundary conditions. The problem is finally solved using the state space method. Effects of stiffness of the foundation, loading cases, and gradient index on mechanical responses of the plates are discussed. It is established that elastic foundations affects significantly the mechanical behavior of functionally graded thick plates. Numerical results presented in the paper can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of functionally graded thick plates on elastic foundations.  相似文献

Two-dimensional first-order governing equations for electroded piezoelectric crystal plates with general symmetry and thickness-graded material properties are deduced from the three-dimensional equations of linear piezoelectricity by Mindlin's general procedure of series expansion. Mechanical displacements and thickness-graded material properties, i.e., the elastic stiffnesses, piezoelectric coefficients, dielectric permittivities, and mass density, are expanded in powers of the thickness coordinate, while electric potential is expanded in a special series in order to accommodate the specified electric potentials at electroded faces of the plate. The effects of graded material properties on the piezoelectrically induced stresses or deformations by the applied surface potentials are clearly exhibited in these newly derived equations which reduce to Mindlin's first-order equations of elastic anisotropic plates when the material properties are homogeneous. Closed form solutions are obtained from the three-dimensional equations of piezoelectricity and from the present two-dimensional equations for both homogeneous plates and bimorphs of piezoelectric ceramics. Dispersion curves for homogeneous plates and bimorphs and resonance frequencies for bimorph strips with finite width are computed from the solutions of three-dimensional and two-dimensional equations. Comparison of the results shows that predictions from the two-dimensional equations are very close to those from the three-dimensional equations.  相似文献

Summary This work uses tensor calculus to derive a complete set of three-dimensional field equations well-suited for determining the behavior of thick shells of revolution having arbitrary curvature and variable thickness. The material is assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic and linearly elastic. The equations are expressed in terms of coordinates tangent and normal to the shell middle surface. The relationships are combined to yield equations of motion in terms of orthogonal displacement components taken in the meridional, normal and circumferential directions. Strain energy and kinetic energy functionals are also presented. The equations of motion and energy functionals may be used to determine the static or dynamic displacements and stresses in shells of revolution, including free and forced vibration and wave propagation.  相似文献

Three-dimensional (3D) free-vibration analysis of simply supported, doubly curved functionally graded (FG) magneto-electro-elastic shells with open-circuit surface conditions is studied using an asymptotic approach. The material properties of the FG shells are regarded as heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate. The 29 basic equations of 3D magneto-electro-elasticity are firstly reduced to a system of 10 state space vector equations in terms of 10 primary variables in elastic, electric and magnetic fields. Apart from the regular asymptotic expansion in the early paper on static analysis, the method of multiple time scales is used to eliminate the secular terms and to make the asymptotic expansion feasible. Through a straightforward derivation, we finally decompose the present 3D problem as recursive sets of two-dimensional (2D) problems with motion equations of the coupled classical shell theory (CCST). The orthonormality and solvability conditions for various order problems are derived. With these conditions, it is shown that the 3D asymptotic solutions can be obtained by repeatedly solving the CCST-type motion equations order-by-order in a systematic and hierarchic manner. The influence of the gradient index of material properties on the natural frequencies and their corresponding modal field variables of various FG piezoelectric and magneto-electro-elastic shells is presented.  相似文献

An exact elasticity solution is presented for the free and forced vibration of functionally graded cylindrical shells. The functionally graded shells have simply supported edges and arbitrary material gradation in the radial direction. The three-dimensional linear elastodynamics equations, simplified to the case of generalized plane strain deformation in the axial direction, are solved using suitable displacement functions that identically satisfy the boundary conditions. The resulting system of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients are solved analytically using the power series method. The analytical solution is applicable to shallow as well as deep shells of arbitrary thickness. The formulation assumes that the shell is made of a cylindrically orthotropic material but it is equally applicable to the special case of isotropic materials. Results are presented for two-constituent isotropic and fiber-reinforced composite materials. The homogenized elastic stiffnesses of isotropic materials are estimated using the self-consistent scheme. In the case of fiber-reinforced materials, the effective properties are obtained using either the Mori–Tanaka or asymptotic expansion homogenization (AEH) methods. The fiber-reinforced composite material studied in the present work consists of silicon-carbide fibers embedded in titanium matrix with the fiber volume fraction and fiber orientation graded in the radial direction. The natural frequencies, mode shapes, displacements and stresses are presented for different material gradations and shell geometries.  相似文献

Three-dimensional solution for static analysis of functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shell with bonded piezoelectric layers is presented using differential quadrature method (DQM) and state-space approach. Applying the DQM to the governing differential equations and to the edges boundary conditions, new state equations about state variables at discrete points are derived. The stress, displacement, and electric potential distributions are obtained by solving these state equations. The convergence and accuracy of the present method is validated by comparing numerical results for the hybrid FG cylindrical shell with simply-supported edges with the analytical solution that has been published in the literature. Both the direct and the inverse piezoelectric effects are investigated and the influence of piezoelectric layers and gradient index on the mechanical behavior of shell is studied.  相似文献

This paper examines the stability of thin three-layered truncated conical shells containing a functionally graded (FG) layer subjected to non-uniform lateral pressure varying with the longitudinal coordinate. The material properties of the functionally graded layer are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the shell, and the variation of properties follows an arbitrary distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Further, the fundamental relations for stability and compatibility equations of three-layered truncated conical shells containing an FGM layer have been obtained. These equations, ascertained via Galerkin’s method, have been transformed into a pair of time-dependent differential equations. Then, critical non-uniform lateral pressure has been conclusively obtained. This paper is the result of a detailed parametric study conducted to determine the influences of thickness variations in the FG layer, radius-to-thickness ratio, lengths-to-radius ratio, and the material composition and material profile index on the critical parameters of three-layered, truncated, conical shells. Finally, the results will be validated through the comparison of obtained values with those in the existing literature.  相似文献

The problem of a functionally graded, transversely isotropic, magneto–electro-elastic circular plate acted on by a uniform load is considered. The displacements and electric potential are represented by appropriate polynomials in the radial coordinate, of which the coefficients depends on the thickness coordinate, and are called the generalized displacement functions. The governing equations as well as the boundary conditions for these generalized displacement functions are derived from the original equations of equilibrium for axisymmetric problems and the boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. Explicit expressions are then obtained through a step-by-step integration scheme, with five integral constants determinable from the boundary conditions at the cylindrical surface in the Saint Venant’s sense. The analytical solution is suited to arbitrary variations of material properties along the thickness direction, and can be readily degenerated into those for homogeneous plates. A particular circular plate, with some material constants being the exponential functions of the thickness coordinate, is finally considered for illustration.  相似文献

Summary In this paper, the vibration and stability of a three-layered conical shell containing a functionally graded material (FGM) layer subjected to axial compressive load are studied. The material properties of the functionally graded layer are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the shell. The variation of properties follows an arbitrary distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The fundamental relations, the dynamic stability and compatibility equations of three-layered truncated conical shells containing an FGM layer are obtained first. Applying Galerkin's method, these equations are transformed to a pair of time dependent differential equations, and critical axial load and frequency parameter are obtained. The results show that the critical parameters are affected by the configurations of the constituent materials and the variation of the shell geometry. Comparing results with those in the literature validates the present analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, a finite element model has been developed for the geometrically nonlinear static analysis of simply supported functionally graded (FG) plates integrated with a patch of vertically reinforced 1-3 piezoelectric composite material acting as a distributed actuator. The material properties of the functionally graded substrate plate are assumed to be graded only in the thickness direction according to the power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The analysis of the electro-elastic coupled problem includes the transverse deformations of the overall plate to utilize the transverse normal actuation by the distributed actuator for counteracting the nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates. The nonlinear governing equations of equilibrium are solved by using direct iteration method with under-relaxation. The numerical illustrations suggest the potential use of the distributed actuator made of vertically reinforced 1-3 piezoelectric composite material for active control of nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates. The effect of variation of piezoelectric fiber orientation in the distributed actuator on its control authority for counteracting the nonlinear deformations of smart functionally graded plates has also been investigated.  相似文献

A thermal buckling analysis is presented for functionally graded rectangular plates that are integrated with surface-bonded piezoelectric actuators and are subjected to the combined action of thermal load and constant applied actuator voltage. The temperature-dependent material properties of the functionally graded plate are assumed to vary as a power form of the thickness coordinate. Derivation of the equations is based on the third-order shear deformation plate theory. Results for the critical buckling temperatures are obtained in closed-form solution, which are convenient to be used in engineering design applications. The effects of the applied actuator voltage, plate geometry, and volume fraction exponent of the functionally graded material on the buckling temperature are investigated.  相似文献

Based on the three-dimensional (3D) piezoelectricity, two asymptotic formulations for the cylindrical bending vibration of simply supported, functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric cylindrical shells with open-circuit and closed-circuit surface conditions are presented. The normal electric displacement and electric potential are prescribed to be zero on the lateral surfaces. In the present asymptotic formulations the material properties are regarded to be heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate. Afterwards, they are further specified to be constant in single-layer shells, to be layerwise constant in multilayered shells and to obey an identical exponent-law distribution in FG shells. The method of multiple time scales is used to eliminate the secular terms arising from the regular asymptotic expansion. The orthonormality and solvability conditions for various orders are derived. The recursive property among the motion equations of various order problems is shown. The present asymptotic formulations are applied to several illustrative examples. The accuracy and the rate of convergence of the present asymptotic solutions are evaluated. The coupled electro–elastic effect and the influence of the material-property gradient index on the free-vibration behavior of FG piezoelectric shells are studied.  相似文献

The article is to present an overview of various three-dimensional (3D) analytical approaches for the analysis of multilayered and functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric plates and shells. The reported 3D approaches in the literature are classified as four different approaches, namely, Pagano's classical approach, the state space approach, the series expansion approach and the asymptotic approach. Both the mixed formulation and displacement-based formulation for the 3D analysis of multilayered piezoelectric plates are derived. The analytical process, based on the 3D formulations, for the aforementioned approaches is briefly interpreted. The present formulations of multilayered piezoelectric plates can also be used for the analysis of FG piezoelectric plates, of which material properties are heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate, by artificially dividing the plate as \textit NL-layered plates with constant coefficients in an average sense for each layer. The present formulations can also be extended to the ones of piezoelectric shells using the associated shell coordinates. A comprehensive comparison among the 3D results available in the literature using various approaches is made. For illustration, the through-thickness distributions of various field variables for the simply-supported, multilayered and FG piezoelectric plates are presented using the asymptotic approach and doubly checked with a newly-proposed meshless method. The literature dealing with the 3D analysis of multilayered and FG piezoelectric plates is surveyed and included. This review article contains 191 references.  相似文献
