Fire and high buildings

The time necessary to evacuate today’s high-rise buildings in a fire emergency is unsatisfactory from the standpoint of the development of untenable smoke conditions. The Division of Building Research has been working on the problem for several years and suggests several approaches to controlling smoke movement in buildings. Note: Mr. Wilson is Assistant Director of the Division of Building Research, and Mr. Shorter is Head of the Fire Research Section. Note: The authors presented this paper at the 74th Annual Meeting of the National Fire Protection Association in Toronto on May 20, 1970. 针对文物古建筑天津利顺德大饭店的现状和装修改造过程中的消防设计问题,如防火分区、疏散通道、防火间距、人员疏散的安全性、中庭自动喷水系统和自然排烟系统等,结合火灾模拟研究结果,从硬件和软件两方面确定文物古建筑火灾防控的重点和技术措施.     

厂房内部防火分隔

分析了厂房常见的防火分隔,指出了目前防火分隔存在的不足,提出了防火分隔的对策。     

三坊七巷古建筑改建商用场所消防安全分析

利用FDS和Building EXODUS软件实例分析了某三坊七巷历史文化街区古建筑中改建的某商用场所(聚春园驿馆)的消防安全性能,模拟烟气运动过程得到人员可用安全疏散时间,模拟人员运动疏散过程得到人员必需疏散时间,验证场所的消防安全性,并提出类似场所消防管理的改进建议,对类似场所的消防审批和监管提供参考.     

Fire in low-rise residential buildings

Studies of building materials and fire show that material damage to a domestic low-rise dwelling is influenced by the furniture as well as the character, the design and the construction of the dwelling and may therefore be somewhat higher in timber houses than in brick or masonry houses.     

Fire safety objectives for buildings

Rapidly expanding interest in performance-based codes has created increased attention to the objectives of fire safety. One of the more circumspect yet cogent discourses on this subject was presented by Professor David Rasbash, retired Head of the Department of Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. Fire safety engineering in timber buildings

The combustibility of timber is one of the main reasons that many building regulations strictly limit the use of timber as a building material. Fire safety is an important contribution to feeling safe, and an important criterion for the choice of building materials. Historically, the combustibility aspect of wood has been a disadvantage for using timber as a construction material. The main precondition for an increased use of timber in buildings is providing adequate fire safety. This paper reviews the opportunities and challenges to reach this goal by implementing Fire Safety Engineering and Performance Based Design principles.

城市高层建筑消防安全评价

根据城市高层建筑的特点,建立城市高层建筑消防安全指标评价体系,构建城市高层建筑模糊综合评价数学模型,并确定评价等级划分。应用该评价体系对某高层建筑进行了消防安全评价,得出结果认为该建筑物的消防安全等级为较安全,评价结果与实际消防安全情况相符,从而进一步验证了评价体系的实用性。
