In the Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard, motion estimation (ME) adopts many new features to increase the coding performances such as block matching algorithm (BMA), motion vector prediction (MVP) and variable block size motion estimation (VBSME). Emerging noninfrastructure-based network types like mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) are becoming suitable platforms for exchanging/sharing real-time video streams, because of recent progress in routing algorithms, throughput and transmission bit-rate. MANETs are characterized by highly dynamic behavior of the transmission routes and path outage probabilities. In this article a multisource streaming approach is presented to increase the robustness of real-time video transmission in MANETs. For that, video coding as well as channel coding techniques on the application layer are introduced, exploiting the multisource representation of the transferred media. Source coding is based on the scalable video coding (SVC) extension of H.264/MPEG4-AVC with different layers for assigning importance for transmission. Channel coding is based on a novel unequal packet loss protection (UPLP) scheme, which is based on Raptor forward error correction (FEC) codes. While in the presented approach, the reception of a single stream guarantees base quality only, the combined reception enables playback of video at full quality and/or lower error rates. Furthermore, an application layer protocol is introduced for supporting peer-to-peer based multisource streaming in MANETs  相似文献

MPEG4AVC/ITU—T H.264视频编码标准中所采用的多模式运动估计算法与传统的MPEG4、H.263 高级预测模式相比较而言,编码效率和性能都大大提高。但其诸如模式决策等问题却给运动估计器,特别是硬件运动估计器带来非常大的运算复杂度。本文提出一种H.264运动估计器硬件结构,它采用了新的模式决策算法和快速运动估计算法。仿真结果证明,这两种算法不但能使运动估计器降低其硬件实现成本,而且能减少模式决策和运动估计的时间。  相似文献

The high-efficiency video coding(HEVC) standard is the newest video coding standard currently under joint development by ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group(VCEG) and ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group(MPEG).HEVC is the next-generation video coding standard after H.264/AVC.The goals of the HEVC standardization effort are to double the video coding efficiency of existing H.264/AVC while supporting all the recognized potential applications,such as,video telephony,storage,broadcast,streaming,especially for large picture size video(4k × 2k).The HEVC standard will be completed as an ISO/IEC and ITU-T standard in January 2013.In February 2012,the HEVC standardization process reached its committee draft(CD) stage.The ever-improving HEVC standard has demonstrated a significant gain in coding efficiency in rate-distortion efficiency relative to the existing H.264/AVC.This paper provides an overview of the technical features of HEVC close to HEVC CD stage,covering high-level structure,coding units,prediction units,transform units,spatial signal transformation and PCM representation,intra-picture prediction,inter-picture prediction,entropy coding and in-loop filtering.The HEVC coding efficiency performances comparing with H.264/AVC are also provided.  相似文献

To support clients with diverse capabilities, ISO/IEC MPEG and ITU-T form a joint video team (JVT) to develop a scalable video coding (SVC) technology that uses single bitstream to provide multiple spatial, temporal, and quality (SNR) resolutions, thus satisfying low-complexity and low-delay constraints. It is an amendment of the emerging standard H.264/AVC and it provides an H.264/AVC-compatible base layer and a fully scalable enhancement layer, which can be truncated and extracted on-the-fly to obtain a preferred spatio-temporal and quality resolution. In H.264/advanced video coding (AVC), lossless coding and lossy coding share the same entropy coding module. However, the entropy coders in the H.264/AVC standard were original designed for lossy video coding and do not yield adequate performance for lossless video coding. In this paper, we analyze the problem with the current lossless coding scheme and propose a mode-dependent template (MD-template) based method for intra lossless coding. By exploring the statistical redundancy of the prediction residual in the H.264/AVC intra prediction modes, more zero coefficients are generated. By designing a new scan order for each MD-template, the scanned coefficients sequence fits the H.264/AVC entropy coders better. A fast implementation algorithm is also designed. With little computation increase, experimental results confirm that the proposed fast algorithm achieves about 7.2% bit saving compared with the current H.264/AVC fidelity range extensions high profile.  相似文献
