The author attempts to provide the rationale for a philosophy of engineering ethics grounded in the notion of sustainable development. It is central to his thesis that this new philosophy can be best inculcated into the culture of engineering through engineering education-experience and intuition are not enough. Engineering ethicists must work more closely with engineering scientists to ensure that all facets of sustainable technology become a practical reality. While professors of engineering science can increase awareness by stimulating engineering students to build sustainable ideas into their designs, professors of engineering ethics might work to complement this by helping to transform the attitudes, values, and philosophies of the new engineer. If the engineering profession can accomplish this grand challenge through engineering ethics education, and train future engineers to become leaders in business and social policy, as well as counselors to corporate executives and citizens alike, they can finally fulfill their professional ideal as benefactor of humankind, and no longer be cast as obedient servants to corporatism.  相似文献

This paper presents material intended to be used to modify existing control and dynamics courses being taught at many universities. The proposed modifications emphasize how one proceeds to develop a complete simulation of a multicomponent system that can be used for dynamics and control studies. The details and philosophy of an interdisciplinary course that combines bioelectrical measurements and research preparation are described. This lecture-laboratory course is offered to students in bioengineering, electrical engineering, and biology in an attempt to provide some of the modern tools, techniques, and experiences necessary to perform quantitative experimental research. A systematic approach to research is used to guide the student to a final independent investigation of a problem of his choice. The combination of measurements and research experience of an interdisciplinary nature, for students with widely varying backgrounds, presents some rather unique advantages and difficulties that may be of interest to educators.  相似文献

在分析丙烯酸酯压敏胶粘剂的粘附特性和结构特点基础上,阐述了其阻燃机理,比较了制备阻燃型丙烯酸酯压敏胶的多种方法,结果认为,以绿色环保为前提,加入阻燃基团,研制本体阻燃型的丙烯酸酯压敏胶将越来越受到人们的重视;阻燃剂的复合技术也是达到高效阻燃的重要途径之一.使用有机阻燃剂与无机阻燃剂所产生的协同效应将为合成材料的阻燃开辟广阔的前景,新型环境友好型并具有阻燃功能的丙烯酸酯压敏胶将会获得更加广泛的应用.  相似文献

This paper reviews the existing power system control practices (both inside and outside of North America) and considers their ability to cope with the new regulatory and technological changes facing the electric supply industry in the present and near future. New or revised control practices are also methodically analyzed to see how they could meet the evolving power system control needs. Given both the trend of technological advances over the last decade and the expectation that those trends will continue, the near future holds opportunities for tremendous improvements in power system control. Key issues were identified and used to review possible directions for the concepts, philosophy, and guiding principles for power system control. Input comes from the electric supply industry through questionnaires, various relevant industry meetings, published materials, review of other on-going research, and working meetings with the North American Electric Reliability Council Performance Subcommittee. An approach is suggested for the cost-effective systematic design of product on-board diagnostics that allow simple and complex appliances to diagnose or predict failures within themselves. This methodology differs from other current less formal approaches in that it encourages a wholly integrated design philosophy. Trends indicate that on-board diagnostic capabilities will become much more important in both the eyes of the consumer and the manufacturer in years to come. As such, the lack of a formal approach could represent a significant design bottleneck. The approach offered represents a meaningful first step in avoiding such a bottleneck. Furthermore, the technique can be used for evaluation and retrofit of diagnostics on existing products. Relevant background regarding machine self-diagnostics is presented, and future research needs are identified.  相似文献

EPLOT was designed as an inexpensive and interactive small graphics library to be run on workstations, stand-alone microcomputers and mainframes, or microcomputers used as graphics terminals. It started as a minor extension to the machine-independent UNIX PLOT library but now includes capabilities for menu and mouse operations, animation, and other functions required in student projects. EPLOT allows the easy development and transfer of interactive graphics programs between SUN, MSDOS, Amiga, ATARI, and Apple Macintosh systems. It has played an important role in the philosophy of the computer graphics course offered at the authors' institution. The role played by two major constituents in a room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber coating, namely, the inorganic alumina trihydrate (ATH) filler and the silicone polymer, on the coating's electrical performance was examined. The principal variable in the RTV silicone rubber coatings evaluated was the different weight fraction of the silicone polymer and ATH inorganic filler normally used for improving the tracking and erosion resistance. Other formulation details were essentially the same in the cured rubber. The coatings were spray coated on glazed porcelain rods and subjected to accelerated aging in a salt fog chamber. The changes produced by accelerated aging on the contamination withstand capability, leakage current suppression and erosion resistance were determined and correlated with the ratio of polymer to inorganic filler in the coating. It is shown that critical aspects of electrical performance necessary for satisfactory service operation such as contamination withstand capability before flashover and leakage current suppression are superior for the coating with a relatively high ratio of polymer to inorganic filler in comparison to the coatings with a relatively low ratio of polymer to inorganic filler. While all the coatings showed a high erosion resistance under mild discharge activity, the erosion resistance was found to be superior for the formulations with high inorganic filler under conditions of intensive surface discharge activity  相似文献

对Li/FeS2电池进行了研制,得到了生产工艺和技术参数.研究了改善Li/FeS2电池放电性能的两种方法:一是在正极中加入活性物质添加剂;二是增加电解液中无机盐成分.结果表明:在正极中加入金属单质和氧化物以及增加电解液中无机盐含量,Li/FeS2电池的放电容量和放电平台都有显著改善.综合不同放电制度的测试结果,最佳添加剂用量为金属单质0.5%、氧化物3%、无机盐0.4%.  相似文献
