本文介绍了一种低功耗全彩透反射型液晶显示器。该液晶显示器利用高双折射率(Δn)胆甾相液晶(Ch-LC),并在透射区域的顶部设置了一块影像增强反射层(IER)。高双折射率(Δn)胆甾相液晶能够反射宽波段的光而显示白色图像。采用传统的彩色滤光膜方法就可以显示全彩色图像。此外,在透射区顶部的IER为透射光和反射光提供了相似的光路。在任何环境下,透射区与反射区总是显示相同的图像颜色,因而大大提高了全彩色透反射型胆甾相液晶显示器显示图像的质量。 相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis of photoisomerizable derivatives of isosorbide. These derivatives contain a stilbene or cinnamate moiety and can therefore be used as photoisomerizable chiral compounds in cholesteric liquid‐crystalline mixtures. The reflection wavelength of cholesteric layers made from these mixtures is increased by UV irradiation due to the fact that the Z‐isomers of these derivatives exhibit a lower helical twisting power than the corresponding E‐isomers. The cinnamate derivatives are very suitable for use in cholesteric color filters that find application in liquid‐crystal displays. 相似文献

Cholophors are passive polarization-switched color display elements suitable for use with lasers or white light. Their hybrid structure, consisting of a thin layer of cholesteric liquid crystal over a layer of photoluminescent phosphor, provides properties of particular interest for large-screen optically scanned multicolor display applications. Cholophors permit more efficient use of available laser power while providing a solution to the problem of color registration for two-primary displays and a partial solution for three-primary displays. Two-primary or Land-color displays can be obtained with only one color of laser light and three-primary displays with only two colors. A three-primary cholophor display using a single argon ion laser would have over 7 times the efficiency of a typical state-of-the-art system using an argon-krypton mixed-gas laser. The liquid crystal layer provides polarization selectivity, and the phosphor layer produces the additional color not furnished by the laser. The liquid crystal transmits one sense of laser polarization while totally reflecting the other, thereby permitting polarization selective excitation of the underlying phosphor. The color selection information is coded into the polarization of the incident laser beam. 相似文献

In order to develop simple low-cost liquid-crystal matrix displays, 5 × 7 dots alphanumeric matrix display panels with 7 × 80 elements have been made and tested. A newly synthesized nematic liquid crystal, p-methoxy-p'-ethylazoxybenzene, was used in the panels as the major component of the liquid crystals. The crosstalk was found effectively suppressed by rubbing the surfaces of electrode glasses besides applying a blanking technique. Furthermore, storage-type liquid-crystal matrix display devices with 120 × 120 elements were also reported. 研究了共面转换(IPS)液晶盒处于强锚定及弱锚定两种边界状态时横向电场与平面织构胆甾相液晶螺距的关系,探讨了液晶盒表面锚定对胆甾相液晶电控螺距的影响。理论结果表明,共面转换模式下电场可以调谐胆甾相液晶的反射光颜色,而边界锚定效应对电场调谐螺距有显著影响。这一结果为基于电控螺距原理的胆甾相液晶反射式彩色显示方案提供了理论上的依据。 相似文献
