Coplanar waveguide-fed circularly polarized microstrip antenna   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Design of a square microstrip antenna for obtaining circular polarization (CP) radiation using a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed is presented. This CP design is achieved by insetting a slit to the boundary of the square microstrip patch, which makes possible the splitting of the dominant resonant mode into two near-degenerate orthogonal modes for CP radiation and introducing an inclined slot in the CPW feed line for coupling the electromagnetic (EM) energy of the CPW to the square patch. Good impedance matching for CP operation can be obtained by adjusting the inclined slot length and the tuning-stub length of the CPW feed line. Design of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed square microstrip antenna with circular polarisation (CP) radiation is described. This CP design is achieved by using an asymmetric inductively coupling slot in the ground plane of the CPW feed line. Results show that the proposed antenna can have a CP bandwidth of 2.4%, whereas a simple inclined coupling slot case has 1.6% CP bandwidth at a fixed square patch size. A microstrip antenna with broadband circular polarisation (CP) is presented. The proposed microstrip antenna has a circular patch and is excited by a series microstrip-line-feed configuration through the coupling of a ring slot in the ground plane. The broadband operation is achieved by coupling two CP resonant elements, which are due to the circular patch and the ring slot, respectively. A typical prototype using foam material of thickness 5 mm as the antenna substrate is constructed. Measured results show the 3 dB-axial-ratio bandwidth centred at 2500 MHz is more than 10%.  相似文献

A stacked slot antenna is proposed and studied to improve the performance of a circularly-polarised (CP) annular-ring slot antenna that has the disadvantages of a narrow bandwidth, a lower gain and bidirectional radiation. The stacked antenna structure is composed of a circular wide slot, a parasitic patch and a metallic reflector, and its CP radiation is excited through the proximity coupling of an L-shaped microstrip line. A 4 times 4 array using the stacked slot antenna as an element is also developed and designed at X-band. Details of the antenna design and obtained results are presented.  相似文献

A new design of a circularly polarised square slot antenna loaded with a cross patch is presented. A cross patch inclined diagonally with respect to the square slot is placed at the centre of the square slot. By choosing proper dimensions of the cross patch, two orthogonal resonant modes with a 90deg phase difference for circular polarisation can be excited and feed the square slot antenna using a 50 Omega CPW with a protruded signal strip. 10 dB return loss bandwidth of 846 MHz (39.6%) and 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 240 MHz (12.4%) for the proposed antenna are achieved. Gain variation within the CP bandwidth is observed to be less than 1 dB  相似文献

Novel designs of single-feed equilateral-triangular microstrip antennas for circular polarization (CP) are proposed and studied experimentally. It is demonstrated that by embedding a narrow slot or a cross slot of unequal slot lengths in the triangular patch, circularly polarized radiation of microstrip antennas can easily be achieved using a single probe feed. Furthermore, results show that for the design with a cross slot, the proposed antenna can perform CP radiation with a reduced antenna size at a given frequency (denoted as compact CP operation here); that is, the required antenna size is smaller for the proposed antenna for performing CP radiation as compared to a conventional circularly polarized triangular microstrip antenna at a fixed operating frequency. Circularly-Polarized Wide Slot Antenna Loaded With a Parasitic Patch   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A design is described of a broadband circularly-polarized (CP) slot antenna. A conventional annular-ring slot antenna is first analyzed, and it is found that two adjacent CP modes can be simultaneously excited through the proximity coupling of an L-shaped feed line. By tuning the dimensions of this L-shaped feed line, the two CP modes can be coupled together and a broad CP bandwidth is thus formed. The design method is also valid when the inner circular patch of the annular-ring slot antenna is vertically raised from the ground plane. In this case, the original band-limited ring slot antenna is converted into a wide-band structure that is composed of a circular wide slot and a parasitic patch, and consequently the CP bandwidth is further enhanced. For the patch-loaded wide slot antenna, its key parameters are investigated to show how to couple the two CP modes and achieve impedance matching. The effects of the distance between the parasitic patch and wide slot on the CP bandwidth and antenna gain are also presented and discussed in details.   相似文献

A compact design of a single-feed circularly polarised (CP) microstrip antenna with relaxed manufacturing tolerances is presented. The CP operation of the microstrip antenna is achieved using a cross slot embedded on the radiating patch. By cutting an additional cross slot on the ground plane, not only the CP operating frequency can be decreased but also the slot-length ratio of the cross slot on the radiating patch can be considerably increased. In addition, the performance of the proposed design, such as CP bandwidth and peak gain, have no significant reduction.  相似文献

A novel design of a compact square‐ring slot microstrip antenna for achieving circular polarization (CP) operation is proposed and experimentally studied. By using an arrow‐shaped slot structure as a radiating element, the resonant frequency of the proposed antenna is significantly lowered, which can lead to a large size reduction for fixed frequency operation. The CP radiation characteristics are achieved by loading with proper asymmetry, which can be placed diagonally. A prototype of the proposed design is implemented and its performance is measured. Measured results show that radiation patterns with good CP characteristics are obtained at the resonant frequency.  相似文献

A single-feed dual-frequency microstrip patch antenna that can produce dual circular polarisations (CP) is presented. The microstrip antenna has an annular-ring patch and is excited by an L-shaped microstrip line through the coupling of a ring slot in the ground plane. The occurrence of the dual CP is because the magnetic currents circulating along the ring slot at two specific frequencies have opposite flowing directions. Circular polarization (CP) design of microstrip antennas and dielectric resonator (DR) antennas through a cross slot of unequal slot lengths in the ground plane of a microstrip line is demonstrated. The proposed CP design is achieved by choosing a suitable size of the coupling cross slot, which results in the excitation of two near-degenerate orthogonal modes of near-equal amplitudes and 90° phase difference. This CP design can be applied to both configurations of microstrip antennas and DR antennas and has the advantages of easy fine-tuning and less sensitivity to the manufacturing tolerances, as compared to their respective conventional single-feed CP designs. For the proposed design applied to a low-profile circular disk DR antenna of very high permittivity studied here, a large CP bandwidth, determined from 3-dB axial ratio, as high as 3.91% is also obtained. The CP results from the combined excitation of the patch by an inclined slot (integrated in the CPW feedline) and the CPW feedline termination. A novel design for a circularly-polarised printed square spiral slot antenna with a stripline feed is demonstrated. The printed slot antenna consists of a square spiral slot of ~1.25 turns, and a total slot length of approximately one free-space operating wavelength. By carefully trimming both ends of the square spiral slot, circular polarisation (CP) operation with a wide operating bandwidth can easily be achieved. A new design of a microstrip-line-fed circularly polarized printed ring slot antenna is proposed. Circular polarization (CP) radiation of the proposed design is achieved by introducing proper asymmetry in the ring slot structure and feeding the ring slot using a microstrip line at 45° from the introduced asymmetry. The asymmetry introduced in the proposed design is a meandered-slot section and the proposed CP design can be applied to printed square and annular ring slot antennas. Prototypes of the proposed design have been implemented. Experimental results show that good CP radiation performances are obtained and the 3 dB axial-ratio CP bandwidths obtained for the square and annular ring slot antennas are about 4.3% and 3.5%, respectively  相似文献

The design of an aperture-coupled annular-ring microstrip antenna for circular polarization (CP) is presented. The CP radiation of the annular-ring microstrip antenna is achieved by a series microstrip-line-feed configuration through the coupling of a ring slot in the ground plane. The key parameters of the proposed design are investigated using a commercial simulation software based on the Method of Moments to show how to obtain the 50 /spl Omega/ input impedance and optimum axial ratio. The proposed design can be applied to the annular-ring microstrip antennas with different inner radii and substrate thickness, and several antenna prototypes are constructed and measured. A simple circular polarisation (CP) design of microstrip antennas using a tuning stub is proposed and studied. It is also demonstrated that, by applying this CP design method to a circular microstrip patch with a cross slot having equal slot lengths, a compact circularly-polarised microstrip antenna can easily be implemented, with much more relaxed manufacturing tolerances as compared to the case of using a cross slot of unequal slot lengths. The differences in mutual coupling for a central slot and a peripheral slot cannot be ignored in small arrays if good patterns and impedance are to be obtained. A theory has been developed whereby the length and offset of every slot in the array can be determined, in the presence of mutual coupling, for a specified aperture distribution and impedance match. The theory enlarges on Stevenson's method, and uses a modified form of Booker's relation based on Babinet's principle to treat nonresonant longitudinal shunt slots in the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide. A general relation between slot voltage and mode voltage is developed, and then formulas are derived for the active, self-, and mutual admittances among slots. These formulas result in a design procedure. Analogous treatments of inclined series slots in rectangular guide and of strip-line-fed slots are possible. Comparison between various experiments and the theory is presented. Tests of the theory include the resonant length of a zero offset slot, resonant conductance versus offset and resonant conductance versus frequency for a single slot, and self- and mutual admittances for two staggered slots. The design and performance of a two-by-four longitudinal shunt slot array is also described.  相似文献

An analysis of a T-junction that differs from conventional H -plane T-junctions in that the T arm is rotated by 90° and coupling takes place through an inclined slot is presented. Since use of standard X-band waveguides results in such a T-junction operating above 11.7 GHz, nonstandard waveguide dimensions have been considered to bring down the operating frequency to 9.375 GHz. The effect of a change of the broad dimension of the primary feed waveguide on the resonant conductance is evaluated. 为减小波导窄边裂缝天线缝隙间互耦对天线性能的影响, 实现低副瓣的设计, 提出了一种倾角波动分布的设计方法.天线电流分布选用泰勒分布, 利用HFSS软件确定缝隙倾角初值, 在此基础上得到波动分布的倾斜角度, 并通过遗传算法对缝隙倾角进行优化.使用Matlab与HFSS软件联合仿真, 省略了建模、设置参数等大量操作, 提高了设计效率.基于此, 设计了一款长度为1.2 m的X波段波导窄边裂缝天线, 仿真发现副瓣电平比传统设计方法低2.17 dB, 加工了天线实物并进行了测试, 天线实测增益和副瓣电平分别为20.9 dBi和-28.7 dB, 验证了方法的有效性.  相似文献
