In this study, Moroccan crude clay of Safi, which was characterized by X-ray diffraction, is used as adsorbent for the investigation of the adsorption kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamic parameters of the Basic Red 46 (BR46) in aqueous solutions at various dye concentrations, adsorbent masses and pH values. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of the dye increased by initial dye concentration and pH values. Two kinetic models (the pseudo-first-order and the pseudo-second-order) were used to calculate the adsorption rate constants. The adsorption kinetics of the basic dye followed pseudo-second-order model. The experimental data isotherms were analyzed using the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevish equations. The monolayer adsorption capacity for BR46 dye is 54 mg/g of crude clay. Nearly 20 min of contact time was found to be sufficient for the dye adsorption to reach equilibrium. Thermodynamical parameters were also evaluated for the dye–adsorbent system and revealed that the adsorption process is exothermic in nature.  相似文献

Activated carbon prepared from cotton stalk fibre has been utilized as an adsorbent for the removal of 2-nitroaniline from aqueous solutions. The influence of adsorbent mass, contact time and temperature on the adsorption was investigated by conducting a series of batch adsorption experiments. The equilibrium data at different temperatures were fitted with the Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, Redlich–Peterson and Langmuir–Freundlich models. The Langmuir–Freundlich isotherm was found to best describe the experimental data. The adsorption amount increased with increasing temperature. The maximum adsorption capacity of 2-nitroaniline was found to be 383 mg/g for initial 2-nitroaniline concentration of 200 mg/L at 45 °C. The kinetic rates were modeled by using the Lagergren-first-order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich models. The pseudo-second-order model was found to explain the adsorption kinetics most effectively. It was also found that the pore diffusion played an important role in the adsorption, and intraparticle diffusion was the rate-limiting step at the first 30 min for the temperatures of 25, 35 and 45 °C. FTIR and 13C NMR study revealed that the amino and isocyanate groups present on the surface of the adsorbent were involved in chemical interaction with 2-nitroaniline. The negative change in free energy (ΔG°) and positive change in enthalpy (ΔH°) indicated that the adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process.  相似文献

In this paper, pineapple stem (PS) waste, an agricultural waste available in large quantity in Malaysia, was utilized as low-cost adsorbent to remove basic dye (methylene blue, MB) from aqueous solution by adsorption. Batch mode experiments were conducted at 30 degrees C to study the effects of initial concentration of methylene blue, contact time and pH on dye adsorption. Equilibrium adsorption isotherms and kinetic were investigated. The experimental data were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich models and the isotherm data fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm with monolayer adsorption capacity of 119.05mg/g. The kinetic data obtained at different concentrations were analyzed using a pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order equation and intraparticle diffusion equation. The experimental data fitted very well the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The PS was found to be very effective adsorbent for MB adsorption.  相似文献

Meranti (Philippine mahogany) sawdust, an inexpensive material, showed strong scavenging behaviour through adsorption for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. Batch studies were performed to evaluate and optimize the effects of various parameters such as contact time, pH, initial dye concentrations and adsorbent dosage. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms were used to analyze the equilibrium data at different temperatures. The experimental data fitted well with the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, indicating thereby the mono layer adsorption of the dye. The monolayer sorption capacity of meranti sawdust for MB was found to be 120.48, 117.64, 149.25 and 158.73 mg/g at 30, 40, 50 and 60 °C, respectively. Thermodynamic calculations showed that the MB adsorption process is endothermic and spontaneous in nature. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The results indicated that the meranti sawdust could be an alternative material in place of more costly adsorbents used for dye removal.  相似文献

In this study, Al(III)-coordinated diamino-functionalized macroporous–mesoporous silica was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption–desorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Because of well-defined and interconnecting macroporous–mesoporous networks, the resulting adsorbent (MM-SBA) exhibited a significantly better phosphate adsorption performance and faster removal rate, as compared with the mesoporous adsorbent (M-SBA). Based on the Freundlich and Langmuir models, the phosphate adsorption capacity and the maximum adsorption capacity of MM-SBA were 7.99 mg P/g and 23.59 mg P/g, respectively. In the kinetic study of MM-SBA, over 95% of its final adsorption capacity reached in the first 1 min; whereas that of M-SBA was less than 79%.  相似文献

以微晶纤维素(Microcrystalline cellulose,MCC)和海藻酸钠(Sodium alginate,SA)为网络框架,海泡石(Sepiolite,SEP)为功能单元,采用悬浮液滴法构建纤维素-海藻酸钠-海泡石(MCC-SA-SEP)双网络多孔复合微球。通过SEM和TG对复合微球结构和热稳定性能进行表征,并研究该微球对亚甲基蓝(Methylene blue,MB)水溶液的吸附性能。结果表明,MCC-SA-SEP复合微球呈现三维网络多孔结构,且随着SEP含量的增加热稳定性逐渐提高。吸附结果显示MCC-SA-SEP符合准二级动力学模型和Langmuir等温线,对MB的饱和吸附容量高达333.3 mg/g。经过五次再生循环后,对MB吸附能力仍能维持85.4%,表明该多孔复合微球可以作为一种高效可再生的有机-无机复合吸附剂用于染料废水处理。   相似文献

This study aimed at investigating the feasibility of using jackfruit peel (JFP), a solid waste, abundantly available in Malaysia, for the adsorption of methylene blue, a cationic dye. Batch adsorption studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of contact time, initial concentration (35-400mg/L), pH (2-11), and adsorbent dose (0.05-1.20g) on the removal of dye at temperature of 30 degrees C. The experimental data were analyzed by the four different types of linearized Langmuir isotherm, the Freundlich isotherm and the Temkin isotherm. The experimental data fitted well with the type 2 Langmuir model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 285.713mg/g. Pseudo-first and pseudo-second-order kinetics models were tested with the experimental data, and pseudo-second-order kinetics was the best for the adsorption of MB by JFP with coefficients of correlation R(2)> or =0.9967 for all initial MB concentrations studied. The results demonstrated that the JFP is very effective for the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Silica-based adsorbent was prepared by radiation-induced grafting of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) onto the silanized silica followed by a protonation process. The FTIR spectra and XPS analysis proved that DMAEMA was grafted successfully onto the silica surface. The resultant adsorbent manifested a high ion exchange capacity (IEC) of ca. 1.30 mmol/g and the Cr(VI) adsorption behavior of the adsorbent was further investigated, revealing the recovery of Cr(VI) increased with the adsorbent feed and the equilibrium adsorption could be achieved within 40 min. The adsorption capacity, strongly depended on the pH of the solution, reached a maximum Cr(VI) uptake (ca. 68 mg/g) as the pH was in the range of 2.5–5.0. Furthermore, even in strong acidic (4.0 mol/L HNO3) or alkaline media (pH 11.0), the adsorbent had a sound Cr(VI) uptake capacity (ca. 22 and 30 mg/g, respectively), and the adsorption followed Langmuir mode. The results indicated that this adsorbent, prepared via a convenient approach, is applicable for removing heavy-metal-ion pollutants (e.g. Cr(VI)) from waste waters.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the adsorption of the acid dye Supranol Yellow 4 GL (S.Y. 4 GL) from aqueous solution on an inorgano–organo clay. Bentonite is naturally occurring clay with good exchanging ability. By exchanging its interlamellar cations with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and hydroxyaluminic or chromium polycations, the properties of natural bentonite can be greatly improved. Batch adsorption tests of Supranol Yellow 4 GL were carried out at 20 °C and constant pH 6.5. To investigate the adsorption mechanisms, the simplified kinetic models, such as pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich equation and intraparticle diffusion are tested. The results show that adsorption follows second-order rate kinetic. The correlation coefficients obtained for second-order kinetics model are greater than 0.998 indicating a better fitting of this equation. The experimental data are analysed by Langmuir, Freundlich and Elovich isotherms. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of anionic dye is determined from the Langmuir equation and found to be 142, 85 and 128, 20 mg/g (standard deviation; Δq (%) = 3.52 and 18.51) for CTAB-Cr-B and CTAB-Al-B, respectively.  相似文献

Adsorption isotherm and kinetics of methylene blue on activated carbon prepared from coconut husk were determined from batch tests. The effects of contact time (1-30 h), initial dye concentration (50-500 mg/l) and solution temperature (30-50 degrees C) were investigated. Equilibrium data were fitted to Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models. The equilibrium data were best represented by Langmuir isotherm model, showing maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 434.78 mg/g. The kinetic data were fitted to pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and intraparticle diffusion models, and was found to follow closely the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic parameters such as standard enthalpy (DeltaH degrees), standard entropy (DeltaS degrees) and standard free energy (DeltaG degrees) were evaluated. The adsorption interaction was found to be exothermic in nature. Coconut husk-based activated carbon was shown to be a promising adsorbent for removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Phenolics have recently been of great concern because of the extreme toxicity and persistency in the environment. Laboratory investigations of the potential use of Fe(III)/Cr(III) hydroxide as an adsorbent for the removal of bisphenol A and 2-aminophenol from aqueous solution were conducted. The operating variables studied are agitation time, initial concentration, adsorbent dose, pH and temperature. Equilibrium data follow Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherms. The Langmuir adsorption capacity of untreated and pretreated adsorbent was found to be 3.47 and 3.67 mg g−1, respectively, for bisphenol A; and 2.94 and 6.03 mg g−1 for 2-aminophenol. Adsorption was analyzed using first order, second order and Elovich kinetic models and the data were found to follow second order and Elovich kinetic models for the adsorption of bisphenol A by untreated adsorbent and first order and Elovich kinetic models for the adsorption of 2-aminophenol by untreated adsorbent. Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG 0, ΔH 0 and ΔS 0 for the adsorption were evaluated.  相似文献

通过静电纺丝技术制备酰肟化功能改性的纳米SiO_2/聚乙烯醇(SiO_2/PVA)复合纤维膜。采用SEM、FTIR、DSC和TGA进行表征分析;考察了在水溶液中随pH值和接触时间的变化纤维膜对金属离子吸附效果的影响。研究表明,在pH=6的条件下,纳米纤维对金属离子的吸附最佳,对Cu2+、Ni 2+金属离子的最大吸附量分别为143.7mg/g和125.1mg/g,平衡吸附时间为240min。在纤维膜吸附的前50min内,SiO_2/PVA纤维膜对Cu2+和Ni 2+金属离子的吸附量为126.8mg/g和109.8mg/g,吸附率分别为90.18%和89.92%。通过吸附等温线和吸附方程考察SiO_2/PVA纤维对Cu2+和Ni 2+金属离子的吸附行为。结果显示,复合纤维对两种金属离子的吸附满足拟二级动力学方程,热力学分析表明,吸附过程符合Langmuir单层吸附。使用酸处理纤维膜进行再生吸附试验,发现循环4次试验后,吸附效率达到53%,结果说明复合纤维膜可作为可再生金属离子吸附材料。  相似文献

Studies on a batch sorption system using Tectona grandis l.f. as adsorbent was investigated to remove copper(II) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption experiments were performed under various conditions such as different initial concentrations, pH, adsorbent dosage and adsorbent particle size. The data showed that 0.1 g of Tectona grandis l.f. was found to remove 71.66% of 20 mg/L copper(II) from 30 mL aqueous solution in 180 min. The experimental equilibrium data were adjusted by the adsorption isotherms from Langmuir and Freundlich models and their equilibrium parameters were determined. The best-adjusted model to the experimental equilibrium data for Tectona grandis l.f. was the Langmuir model. Using the Langmuir model equation, the monolayer sorption capacity of Tectona grandis l.f. was evaluated and found to be 95.40 mg/g. The optimum pH value was found to be 5.5. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were used to describe the kinetic data. The dynamic data fitted the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.  相似文献

In this study, an orthogonal array design method was employed to optimize carbon preparation from distillers’ grain (DGAC). The physical and chemical properties of the produced DGAC were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption–desorption technique (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, BET), and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The BET surface area of DGAC was found to be 1430?m2/g, with average pore diameter of 2.19?nm. Batch experiments were carried out to study the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) onto DGAC. External mass transfer model, internal diffusion model, Boyd model and pseudo-second-order model were used to fit the adsorption kinetic process of MB adsorption onto DGAC. The results shows the external mass transfer model could only describe the adsorption for the initial 5?min, and later the internal diffusion in the pores of the carbon particles became a main resistance, chemisorption was also involved in the adsorption process. The adsorption equilibrium was described best by Langmuir isotherm with maximum adsorption capacity of 934.6?mg/g of MB at 55°C, thermodynamic studies confirmed that the adsorption of MB onto DGAC was spontaneous and thermodynamically favourable. These findings support the potential of using distillers’ grain as raw material to prepare well-developed porous texture adsorbent with huge MB removal capacity.  相似文献

The adsorption of rhodamine B dye was carried out using sodium montmorillonite clay. The effect of parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage and initial dye concentration was studied. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were applied and the Langmuir model was found to best fit the equilibrium isotherm data. Langmuir adsorption capacity was found to be 42.19 mg/g. Kinetic data followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. Maximum color removal was observed at pH 7.0. The ΔG° value was found to be negative, the adsorption process was feasible. The results indicate that sodium montmorillonite clay can be used for the removal of basic dyes from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

In this study, sepiolite, fly ash and apricot stone activated carbon (ASAC) were used as adsorbents for the investigation of the adsorption kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamic parameters of the basic dye (Astrazon Blue FGRL) from aqueous solutions at various concentrations (100-300 mg/L), adsorbent doses (3-12 g/L) and temperatures (303-323 K). The result showed that the adsorption capacity of the dye increased with increasing initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose and temperature. Three kinetic models, the pseudo-first-order, second-order, intraparticle diffusion, were used to predict the adsorption rate constants. The kinetics of adsorption of the basic dye followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. Equations were developed using the pseudo-second-order model which predicts the amount of the basic dye adsorbed at any contact time, initial dye concentration and adsorbent dose within the given range accurately. The adsorption equilibrium data obeyed Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption capacities (Q0) calculated from the Langmuir isotherm were 181.5 mg/g for ASAC, 155.5 mg/g for sepiolite and 128.2 mg/g for fly ash at 303 K. Thermodynamical parameters were also evaluated for the dye-adsorbent systems and revealed that the adsorption process was endothermic in nature.  相似文献

Bamboo, an abundant and inexpensive natural resource in Malaysia was used to prepare activated carbon by physiochemical activation with potassium hydroxide (KOH) and carbon dioxide (CO(2)) as the activating agents at 850 degrees C for 2h. The adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of methylene blue dye on such carbon were then examined at 30 degrees C. Adsorption isotherm of the methylene blue (MB) on the activated carbon was determined and correlated with common isotherm equations. The equilibrium data for methylene blue adsorption well fitted to the Langmuir equation, with maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 454.2mg/g. Two simplified kinetic models including pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order equation were selected to follow the adsorption processes. The adsorption of methylene blue could be best described by the pseudo-second-order equation. The kinetic parameters of this best-fit model were calculated and discussed.  相似文献

The adsorption behavior of crystal violet (CV+) from aqueous solution onto magnesium-oxide coated bentonite (MCB) sample was investigated as a function of parameters such as initial CV+ concentration, contact time and temperature. The Langmuir, and Freundlich adsorption models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity of MCB were estimated as 496 mg/g. The pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order kinetic and the intra-particle diffusion models were used to describe the kinetic data and rate constants were evaluated. The values of the energy (Ea), enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy of activation (ΔS) were 56.45 kJ/mol, 53.90 kJ/mol and −117.26 J/mol K, respectively, at pH 6.5.  相似文献
