This paper proposes a novel resonant circuit capable of PWM operation with zero switching losses. The resonant circuit is aimed at providing zero voltage intervals in the DC link of the PWM converter during the required converter device switching periods, and it gives minimum DC bus voltage stresses and minimum peak resonant current. It requires only two additional switches compared to a conventional PWM converter. It is observed that the resonant circuit guarantees the soft switching of all the switching power devices of converters including the switches for resonant operation. Simulation results and experimental results are presented to verify the operating principles  相似文献

Selection of the high-frequency switch and an appropriate resonant configuration are discussed. It is shown that a series-parallel resonant converter using insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) gated bipolar/MOSFET cascode switches and operating above resonance is suitable for this application. DC voltage sensorless single-phase PFC converter   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We propose a simple DC voltage sensorless single phase PFC converter by detecting an AC line voltage waveform. Both DC voltage and AC current sensors used in the conventional PFC converter are not required to construct the control system. The conventional converter circuit with a boost chopper circuit in the DC side from a rectifier circuit is used as the main PFC converter circuit. In the control system, the circuit parameters such as a series inductance L and equivalent load resistance value R/sub d/ are used to generate the sinusoidal current waveform. The DC voltage is directly controlled by the command input signal k/sub d/(=E/sub d//E/sub a/) for the boost chopper circuit. The DC voltage regulation is small because of the feed forward control for the AC line voltage E/sub a/ and no dependence of the circuit parameters. The sinusoidal current waveform in phase with the AC line voltage can be obtained. The feasibility of the proposed control system is verified by some simulation and experimental results.

A zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) DC/DC converter operating at constant frequency and having wide linearity is proposed. ZVS operation is achieved not only for the primary switches but also for the secondary rectifier diodes to reduce the switching stresses and losses. The converter overcomes other shortcomings of the conventional resonant DC/DC converters, among which are the high VA ratings of devices and passive components and load-dependent DC characteristics  相似文献

Resonant converter has been widely used for the benefits of low switching losses and high circuit efficiency. However, the wide frequency variation is the main drawback of resonant converter. This paper studies a new modular resonant converter with duty-cycle control to overcome this problem and realise the advantages of low switching losses, no reverse recovery current loss, balance input split voltages and constant frequency operation for medium voltage direct currentgrid or system network. Series full-bridge (FB) converters are used in the studied circuit in order to reduce the voltage stresses and power rating on power semiconductors. Flying capacitor is used between two FB converters to balance input split voltages. Two circuit modules are paralleled on the secondary side to lessen the current rating of rectifier diodes and the size of magnetic components. The resonant tank is operated at inductive load circuit to help power switches to be turned on at zero voltage with wide load range. The pulse-width modulation scheme is used to regulate output voltage. Experimental verifications are provided to show the performance of the proposed circuit.  相似文献

A modified asymmetrical pulse-width-modulated resonant dc/dc converter employing an auxiliary circuit will be proposed in this paper. The auxiliary circuit consists of a network of two capacitors and an inductor. The aim of this network is to produce zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) over a wide input voltage range, while reducing the voltage stress on the resonant component. A detailed analysis and performance characteristics are presented. Experimental results for a 5 V, 35 W converter show an efficiency of 83% at a constant operating frequency of 500 kHz. Using metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) as synchronous rectifiers can further reduce power losses and improve the efficiency to be greater than 90%.  相似文献

Analysis and design procedures are presented for a high-efficiency, high-frequency, boost zero-voltage-switching resonant DC/DC power converter. Equations describing converter operation are derived. The basic performance parameters of the circuit are analyzed as functions of the normalized load resistance and switching frequency. These equations are then used to determine conditions for lossless converter operation and design equations that yield the required component values  相似文献

Zero-voltage switching technique in DC/DC converters   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
A novel resonant switch operating under the principle of zero-voltage switching is presented. The basic configurations of the voltage-mode resonant switches are presented. The circuit's operating principles are described using a voltage-mode quasi-resonant boost converter. DC analysis of the converter is carried out. A new family of voltage-mode quasi-resonant converters are derived, and several members of this family are presented. The duality relationship between the zero-current switching technique and the zero-voltage switching technique is derived. These two techniques are compared using an example showing the duality between a current-mode quasi-resonant Buck converter and a voltage-mode quasi-resonant boost converter. The similarities and differences of the voltage-mode quasi-resonant converters and the Class-E converters are discussed. A 5 MHz 50 V to 5 V flyback converter employing the zero-voltage switching technique has been implemented. Design considerations and experimental results of this circuit are presented  相似文献

Switched-capacitor DC/DC converters with resonant gate drive   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
In this paper, we examine how switched-capacitor (SC) converters can be used in low-voltage low-power DC/DC applications with power management. Analysis of losses is presented to facilitate SC converter design and optimization. A resonant gate drive is proposed to reduce switching losses and simplify control of switches in SC converters. A closed-loop controller is designed to enable and disable oscillations of the resonant gate drive so that the output DC voltage is well regulated down to zero load and so that high efficiency is maintained for a very wide range of loads. Results are experimentally verified on two low-power (0.2 and 5 W) five-one step-down converters with regulated 3 Vdc output and efficiency greater than 80% in a 100-1 load range  相似文献

An analytic basis is provided for a buck high-efficiency high-frequency zero-current-switching resonant DC/DC power converter. The current and voltage waveforms are derived for the steady-state operation. Design equations are then introduced for the switch duty cycle, maximum switching frequency, DC transfer function, peak currents and voltages, output power, and power conversion capability. Finally, the design procedure is presented along with the advantages and disadvantages of the converter, which are discussed in detail  相似文献

This paper presents a zero-voltage switching DC/DC converter for DC micro-grid system applications. The proposed circuit includes three half-bridge circuit cells connected in primary-series and secondary-parallel in order to lessen the voltage rating of power switches and current rating of rectifier diodes. Thus, low voltage stress of power MOSFETs can be adopted for high-voltage input applications with high switching frequency operation. In order to achieve low switching losses and high circuit efficiency, asymmetric pulse-width modulation is used to turn on power switches at zero voltage. Flying capacitors are used between each circuit cell to automatically balance input split voltages. Therefore, the voltage stress of each power switch is limited at Vin/3. Finally, a prototype is constructed and experiments are provided to demonstrate the circuit performance.  相似文献

A novel approach to realizing zero-voltage switching in high-frequency DC/DC converters is presented. Utilizing the parasitic associated with the diode stored charge, it is shown that the diode reverse current established for charge removal can be used advantageously to accomplish soft switching. The entire family of single-transistor DC/DC converters can be realized using the technique. The converter topologies are seen to differ from their hard-switched counterparts only by the presence of a resonant capacitor. It is also shown that device and component stresses are moderate as compared to existing quasi-resonant and resonant techniques. Converter analysis is rather complex as a result of the dominant diode nonlinearities, and no closed-form expressions are possible. Converter transfer characteristics are obtained through simulation, and operating limits are analytically obtained. The concept is validated by experimental results using buck-type converters rated at approximately 100 W and operating at frequencies around 1 MHz  相似文献

A single-phase high-frequency transformer-isolated soft-switching single-stage ac-to-dc converter with low-line-current distortion is presented. The circuit configuration is obtained by integrating two discontinuous current mode (DCM) boost converters with a DCM full-bridge buck converter. The zero-voltage switching for the top switches is achieved automatically, whereas bottom switches are aided by zero-voltage transition circuits. The output voltage is regulated by duty-cycle control at constant switching frequency. The intervals of operation and steady-state analysis are presented. A systematic design procedure is presented with a 1-kW converter design example. PSPICE simulation and experimental results obtained from a 1-kW laboratory prototype are presented for a wide variation in line and load conditions.  相似文献

A zero-voltage and zero-current switching three-level DC/DC converter   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
This paper presents a novel zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) three-level DC/DC converter. This converter overcomes the drawbacks presented by the conventional zero-voltage switching (ZVS) three-level converter, such as high circulating energy, severe parasitic ringing on the rectifier diodes, and limited ZVS load range for the inner switches. The converter presented in this paper uses a phase-shift control with a flying capacitor in the primary side to achieve ZVS for the outer switches. Additionally, the converter uses an auxiliary circuit to reset the primary current during the freewheeling stage to achieve zero-current switching (ZCS) for the inner switches. The principle of operation and the DC characteristics of the new converter are analyzed and verified on a 6 kW, 100 kHz experimental prototype.  相似文献

The analysis and design of a high-frequency forward DC/DC power converter topology with transformer flux balancing capability is presented. The converter utilizes a main switch for load current commutation and an auxiliary switch for transformer flux balancing. Moreover, the converter topology provides the means to recover the energy associated with the parasitic inductances of the circuit components, thus yielding high efficiency and allowing for high operating frequencies. Experimental results for a 1 kW, 20 kHz prototype unit are presented  相似文献

A new pulsewidth modulation (PWM)-controlled quasi-resonant converter for a high-efficiency plasma display panel (PDP) sustaining power module is proposed in this paper. The load regulation of the proposed converter can be achieved by controlling the ripple of the resonant voltage across the primary resonant capacitor with a bidirectional auxiliary circuit, while the main switches are operating at a fixed duty ratio and fixed switching frequency. Hence, the waveforms of the currents can be expected to be optimized from the view-point of conduction loss. Furthermore, the proposed converter has good zero-voltage switching (ZVS) capability, simple control circuits, no hign-voltage ringing problem of rectifier diodes, no dc offset of the magnetizing current and low-voltage stresses of power switches. Thus, the proposed converter shows higher efficiency than that of a half-bridge LLC resonant converter under light load condition. Although it shows the lower efficiency at heavy load, because of the increased power loss in auxiliary circuit, it still shows the high efficiency around 94%. In this paper, operational principles, features of the proposed converter, and analysis and design considerations are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the output voltage can be controlled well by the auxiliary circuit using the PWM method.   相似文献

High-power-factor electronic ballast with constant DC-link voltage   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper presents a high-power-factor (HPF) electronic ballast based on a single power processing stage with constant DC-link voltage. The switching frequency is controlled to maintain the DC-link voltage and the voltage across the switches constant, independently of changes in the AC-input voltage. This control method assures zero-voltage switching (ZVS) for the specified AC-input-voltage range. Besides, with an appropriate design of the fluorescent lamps' drive circuit, the lamps' power can be kept close to the rated value. The power-factor-correction (PFC) stage is formed by a boost power converter operating in the discontinuous conduction mode, which naturally provides HPF to the utility line. The fluorescent lamps are driven by an unmodulated sine-wave current generated from an LC parallel resonant power converter which operates above the resonant frequency to perform ZVS. Theoretical analysis and experimental results are presented for two series-connected 40 W fluorescent lamps operating from 127 V -15% to +10% 60 Hz utility line. The switching frequency is changed from 25 to 45 kHz to maintain the DC-link voltage regulated at 410 V, which leads to a constant output power. The experimental results confirm the high efficiency and HPF of this electronic ballast  相似文献
