The Time Projection Chamber (TPC) at TRIUMF was developed for the search for muon-electron conversion, a lepton number violating process. This paper describes the data acquisition system in use for the last two years. Basic components of the system are a multi-crate CAMAC acquisition system, external memory, PDP 11/40 and VAX 11/780 coupled through DECNET. A discussion of the various software packages for data-taking and on-line track reconstruction follows.  相似文献

A data acquisition system that provides real-time data acquisition and control, and on-line data analysis facilities has been recently installed. A PDP-11/44 is interfaced to CAMAC via a MBD-11 microprogrammable parallel branch driver. Both system and user software has been implemented in the structured high level "C" language in the UNIX time-sharing environment. Implementation of the system is discussed.  相似文献

Factors influencing the choice of the system and problems resulting from the specific choices, along with their resolution, are discussed. An integrated facility-wide system for nuclear physics data acquisition is described. Four PDP-11/45's connected via a SYSTEM/7 to an IBM/370-168 are used in the system. User programs specifying spectrum definition and analysis logic are written using macros and are expanded into PL11 or PL/1, depending on the subsystem into which the program is to be linked. A flexible data acquisition system consists of a data acquisition task which is coupled to and under control of, a data analysis task. The data acquisition task is designed to interface to CAMAC through one or more Kinetic Systems 3912 Type A Crate Controllers to a Digital Equipment PDP-11/34, and it configures itself at the beginning of each run according to a user-written CAMAC definition file. The data analysis task is a modified version of the Fermilab Multi Channel Histogram Program. It controls the flow of the data acquisition task, and also serves as a multi channel pulse height analyzer.  相似文献

The Nuclear Structure Research Laboratory at the University of Rochester is developing a VAX-11/750 computer system for use in a data acquisition and analysis system. The system consists of the VAX which is networked to two LSI-11/23's which are in turn connected to CAMAC branch drivers. The CAMAC branch drivers operate both parallel and 5 MHz byte-serial highways. The network is a high speed DMA interface and is identical to the system implemented at the W.K. Kellogg Radiation Laboratory[l]. The data acquisition system has been designed to allow the user to select standard program modules as building blocks to construct a system to suit the particular needs of the experiment. The division of the realtime analysis between the VAX and the LSI-11s is flexible. The LSI-11s are equipped with small array processors tlo permit high speed analysis on the satellite processors.  相似文献

A CAMAC data acquisition system is currently under development at the W.K. Kellogg Radiation Laboratory which utilizes LSI-11 crate controllers and a 250 Kbyte/sec 7-computer Q-bus DMA network. The central network computer is a VAX 11/750 with Unibus and Q-bus adaptors. Processing is distributed between the LSI-11s and the VAX as required to meet input-output and event processing speeds needed by the experiment. Use of the Q-bus on all machines allows CAMAC controllers and tape drives to be moved as needed between the LSI-11s and the VAX.  相似文献

An integrated data acquisition system for Nuclear Physics experiments is described. Two PDP11/70 - PDP11/40 systems with a sophisticated ADC Interface for 16 Single NIM ADC's are used for data taking and monitoring. The multi-tasked software provides real-time control of the experimental data by a variety of monitoring routines. A lot of work was done to introduce data formats common to all computers within the HMI. Utilities were written to move Raw Data Files and Multi Spectra Files between different media and to inspect these files. The future expansion of the system will be discussed.  相似文献

The data acquisition and analysis system for LAMPF'S high resolution magnetic spectrometers, HRS and EPICS, consists of two on-line PDP-11/45 computers and an off-line PDP-11/60 for analysis of taped data. Each system has 124K words of memory and runs under DEC's RSX-11D operating system. The on-line computers are interfaced to several CAMAC crates through a Microprogrammable Branch Driver (MBD). Each system is also equipped with two Tektronix 4010 terminals, a Versatec printer/plotter, at least one RK05 disk drive, a 9 track 75 IPS 800/1600 BPI Kennedy tape drive, and a 40MB Diva/Calcomp disk drive system which is compatible with DEC software for their RP03. The software developed for these systems was designed to meet the goals of flexibility and speed of analysis for multiparameter data (20-100 words/event). The LAMPF standard data aquisition package "O" and its associated routines for histogram management are used as the basis of the system. A number of additional features have been added whose usefulness appears to he common to most experiments of this type.  相似文献

The data acquisition system for the Crystal Ball project at SLAC is described. A PDP-11/t55 using RSX-11M connected to the SLAC Triplex is the basis of the system. A "physics pipeline" allows physicists to write their own equipment-monitoring or physics tasks which require event sampling. As well, an interactive analysis package (MULTI) is in the pipeline. Histogram collection and display on the PDP are implemented using the Triplex histogramming package. Various interactive event displays are also implemented.  相似文献

The LAMPF Nuclear Chemistry Data Acquisition System (DAS) is designed to provide both real-time control of data acquisition and facilities for data processing for a large variety of users. It consists of a PDP-11/44 connected to a parallel CAMAC branch highway as well as to a large number of peripherals. The various types of radiation counters and spectrometers and their connection to the system will be described. The nuclear physics program at the Brookhaven National Laboratory High Flux Beam Reactor (HFBR) employs a pair of PDP-11 computers for the dual functions of data acquisition and analysis. The data acquisition is accomplished through CAMAC and features a microprogrammed branch driver to accommodate various experimental inputs. The acquisition computer performs the functions of multi-channel analyzers, multiscaling and time-sequenced multichannel analyzers and gamma-ray coincidence analyzers. The data analysis computer is available for rapid processing of data tapes written by the acquisition computer. The ability to accommodate many users is facilitated by separating the data acquisition and analysis functions, and allowing each user to tailor the analysis to the specific requirements of his own experiment. The system is to be upgraded soon by the introduction of a dual port disk to allow a data base to be available to each computer.  相似文献
