Pre-ruminant Friesian calves were fed milk replacers containing three different fat sources to observe their effect on abomasal outflow, triglyceride hydrolysis and nutritive value. The calves were fitted with re-entrant cannulae in the duodenum and ileum. The milk replacers were prepared by homogenising 30% butterfat, tallow or soya-bean oil with skim milk prior to spray-drying. These milk replacers (500 g), and also skim milk, were fed once daily dissolved in 3500 ml of water. Total collections of abomasal and ileal outflow were made for 24 h periods. There were no appreciable differences in abomasal emptying of fresh matter, dry matter, total fat, or in the pH of the digesta when calves received milk replacers containing butterfat or tallow, but some inhibition of gastric emptying occurred when skim milk was fed. The extent of hydrolysis of the fats which occurred in the abomasum, as evidenced from free fatty acid concentrations in the abomasal fat, decreased in the order: butterfat > soya-bean > tallow. There was an inverse relationship between the chain length of the fatty acids and their rate of hydrolysis. Extensive biohydrogenation in the large intestine appeared to occur only when the highly unsaturated soya-bean oil was fed. The mean apparent digestibilities of the total dietary fats were: butterfat, 95.0%; tallow, 85.3% and soya-bean oil, 93.9%. Between 4–16 g more fat than was ingested flowed from the abomasum during the period 0–24 h after calves received skim milk, which represented 1–4% of the total abomasal outflow. Metabolic faecal fat excretion was 5.93 ± 2.02 g 100 g?1 faecal dry matter.  相似文献

The effect of feed intake on abomasal digesta outflow and gastrointestinal motility of preruminant calves given whole milk was studied. Digesta collections were made from calves fitted with re-entrant duodenal cannulas. In other calves myoelectric activity was recorded from electrodes implanted on the abomasum and proximal small intestine, sometimes concurrently with recordings from an electromagnetic flow sensor on the duodenum. After a feed of 2-8 kg milk recurring patterns of intestinal myoelectric activity associated with fasting were temporarily interrupted by a period of continuous irregular spike activity; the duration of the post feeding activity increased with intake of milk. Patterns of abomasal digesta flow were characterized by alternating periods of rapid and slower flow with a frequency that corresponded to cyclic change in myoelectric activity of the small intestine. Hourly rates of abomasal emptying of digesta during a 6-h collection period were significantly greater (P less than 0.05) after giving feeds of 6-8 kg milk compared with measurements of flow rate when 2 kg feeds were given. It is concluded that myoelectric activity of the proximal small intestine exercises control over abomasal emptying of digesta by a mechanism which adjusts the mixing and propulsive functions of gut motility in accordance with the amount of milk consumed.  相似文献

Four dairy cows fitted with a duodenal cannula were used in a 4 x 4 Latin square design to investigate the effects of daily duodenal infusion of 500 g of fatty acids (containing mainly C16:0, C18:0, or cis-C18:1) on fecal concentrations of fatty acids, fatty acid profiles of milk fat, and solid fat content of butter. Fecal concentrations of C16:0 and especially of C18:0 were increased by duodenal infusion. Infusion with C16:0 increased the proportion of C16:0 in milk fat and delayed softening of butter when the temperature rose. Infusion with C18:0 resulted only in a slight increase of C18:0 proportion in milk fat and did not significantly affect solid fat in butter between -10 and 30 degrees C. With the infusion of cis-C18:1, the proportion of cis-C18:1 in milk fat was more than twice that of control, to the detriment of C16:0. Butter contained low proportion of solid fat, even at low temperatures. Increasing C16:0 or cis-C18:1 in milk fatty acid via duodenal infusion can be used to study their specific effects on butter characteristics, but, because of a low transfer from infusion to milk, this method is less efficient with C18:0.  相似文献

Levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), cis, cis-methylene interrupted polyunsaturated fatty acids (i.e. essential fatty acids—EFA) and isolated trans double bonds in six crude vegetable oils, seven commercial oils, eighteen margarines, two butter fats and fats from two types each of crisps and butter biscuits have been determined. The ratios between the PUFA or EFA and the saturated fatty acids of various samples have been tabulated. Normal (i.e. high linoleic) safflower seed oil gave the highest ratio. Margarines which were estimated to contain partially hydrogenated fish oils (45–90%, on fat basis) gave high values of trans double bonds. Butter fat having a similar EFA level to that present in a ‘hydrogenated fish oil’ margarine contained a much lower level of trans isomers. Almost all the PUFA in the oils of crips, and about half the PUFA content of butter biscuits, existed as ‘true’ essential fatty acids.  相似文献

A control diet and a fish oil diet were fed to 12 multiparous Holstein cows to determine how the incorporation of Menhaden fish oil in the diet would influence the fatty acid composition, especially the conjugated linoleic acid and transvaccenic acid, contents of milk and butter. The control diet consisted of a 50:50 ratio of forage to concentrate, and the fish oil diet consisted of the control diet with 2% (on a dry matter basis) added fish oil. Milk from cows fed the control diet contained higher average concentrations of milk fat (3.37%) compared with milk from cows fed the fish oil diet (2.29%). Milk from cows fed fish oil contained higher concentrations of conjugated linoleic acid, transvaccenic acid, and total unsaturated fatty acids (0.68 and 2.51; 1.42 and 6.28; and 30.47 and 41.71 g/100 g of fat, respectively). Butter made from the fish oil diet milk also had higher concentrations of conjugated linoleic acid, transvaccenic acid, and unsaturated fatty acids. Penetrometer readings indicated fish oil diet butters were softer at 4 and 20 degrees C than the control diet butters. Acid degree values were similar in the fish oil butters compared with the control butters. No significant difference was found in the flavor characteristics of milk and butter from cows fed the control and fish oil diets. Production of milk and butter with increased amounts of conjugated linoleic acid, transvaccenic acid, and other beneficial fatty acids may have a desirable impact on the health of consumers and lead to increased sales.  相似文献

The hydrolysis of various dietary fats and pure triglycerides by pregastric esterase and pancreatic lipase was studied in vitro in conjunction with a series of digestibility trials to examine the effect of various chemical modifications to beef tallow on its digestibility in milk replacers for pre-ruminant calves. Using pure triglycerides, it was shown that pregastric esterase preferentially hydrolyses triglycerides containing short chain fatty acids; the rate was highest with glyceryl tributyrate and decreased markedly with increase in chain length. Using butterfat, tallow and various modified forms of tallow, it was shown that the inclusion of butyric acid in tallow by interesterification, which markedly improved its digestibility, substantially increased its rate of hydrolysis by pregastric esterase. The initial rate of hydrolysis of tallow by pancreatic lipase was substantially less than that of butterfat. Little improvement in the rate of hydrolysis and solubilisation was obtained when the tallow sample was interesterified or when it was supplemented with the long chain fatty acids, myristic and oleic, or with the short chain fatty acid, butyric. A considerable increase in the initial rate of hydrolysis and solubilisation did occur with tallow samples with a reduced content of stearic acid. The results suggest that hydrolysis by pregastric esterase is a major site of discrimination between different fats in the pre-ruminant calf and an important factor in determining overall digestibility.  相似文献

Flax hull, a co-product obtained from flax processing, is a rich source of n-3 fatty acids (FA) but there is little information on digestion of flax hull based diets and nutritive value of flax hull for dairy production. Flax oil is rich in α-linolenic acid (LNA) and rumen bypass of flax oil contributes to increase n-3 FA proportions in milk. Therefore, the main objective of the experiment was to determine the effects of abomasal infusion of increasing amounts of flax oil on apparent digestibility, dry matter (DM) intake, milk production, milk composition, and milk FA profile with emphasis on the proportion of LNA when cows were supplemented or not with another source of LNA such as flax hull. Six multiparous Holstein cows averaging 650±36 kg body weight and 95±20 d in milk were assigned to a 6×6 Latin square design (21-d experimental periods) with a 2×3 factorial arrangement of treatments. Treatments were: 1) control, neither flax hull nor flax oil (CON), 2) diet containing (DM basis) 15·9% flaxseed hull (FHU); 3) CON with abomasal infusion of 250 g/d flax oil; 4) CON with abomasal infusion of 500 g/d flax oil; 5) FHU with abomasal infusion of 250 g/d flax oil; 6) FHU with abomasal infusion of 500 g/d flax oil. Infusion of flax oil in the abomasum resulted in a more pronounce decrease in DM intake for cows fed the CON diets than for those fed the FHU diets. Abomasal infusion of flax oil had little effect on digestibility and FHU supplementation increased digestibility of DM and crude protein. Milk yield was not changed by abomasal infusion of flax oil where it was decreased with FHU supplementation. Cows fed FHU had higher proportions of 18:0, cis9-18:1, trans dienes, trans monoenes and total trans in milk fat than those fed CON. Proportion of LNA was similar in milk fat of cows infused with 250 and 500 g/d flax oil in the abomasum. Independently of the basal diet, abomasal infusion of flax oil resulted in the lowest n-6:n-3 FA ratio in milk fat, suggesting that the most important factor for modification of milk FA profile was the amount of n-3 FA bypassing the rumen and not the amount of flax hull fed to dairy cows. Moreover, these data suggest that there is no advantage to supply more than 250 g/d of flax oil in the abomasum to increase the proportion of LNA in milk fat.  相似文献

Four ruminally fistulated primiparous lactating Holstein cows were assigned to a 4 × 4 Latin square design to determine the effects of the site of administration (rumen or abomasum) of flax oil and flax hulls on diet digestibility and milk fatty acid profile of dairy cows. The treatments were 1) oil and hulls administered in the rumen and abomasal infusion of water (RUM/RUM), 2) oil and hulls infused in the abomasum (ABO/ABO), 3) oil administered in the rumen and hulls infused in the abomasum (RUM/ABO), and 4) oil infused in the abomasum and hulls placed in the rumen (ABO/RUM). Cows on the ABO/ABO and RUM/RUM treatments had the highest and lowest amounts of basal dry matter eaten, respectively. Higher dry matter digestibility was obtained when flax oil bypassed the rumen (ABO/ABO and ABO/RUM) compared with when flax oil was administered directly in the rumen (RUM/ABO and RUM/RUM). Apparent digestibility of ether extract was higher when flax hulls were administered in the rumen (RUM/RUM and ABO/RUM) compared with when flax hulls were infused in the abomasum (ABO/ABO and RUM/ABO). The lowest digestibility of acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber was obtained when both flax products were added in the rumen, which may be attributed to the high amount of oil present in the rumen (7.8% of total dry matter input). The lowest yield of 4% fat-corrected milk was obtained for cows on the RUM/RUM treatment, probably as a result of lower dry matter intake and digestibility of fiber. Milk concentrations of protein, fat, total solids, and lactose were similar among treatments. Administration of oil and hulls in the rumen resulted in the highest concentrations of intermediate products of biohydrogenation and total trans fatty acids in milk fat compared with the other treatments. All ratios of n-6 to n-3 fatty acids in milk fat were lower than the 4 to 1 ratio recommended to improve human health. These results suggest that the presence of both flax oil and flax hulls in the rumen decreases 4% fat-corrected milk yield and digestibility but provides a desirable fatty acid profile of milk to enhance consumers’ health.  相似文献

The secretion of pregastric esterase and other oral lipases has been detected in 13 species. Research on secretion by the human, calf, kid goat, lamb, and rat of pregastric esterase has been significant. Secretion by calves is little affected by age or diet but is greater when calves are nipple fed than when pail fed. Whole milk sham-fed to calves exhibits immediate, sharp decreases in pH and rennet coagulation time resulting from liberation of free fatty acids by pregastric esterase. Bacterial counts in sham-fed products are higher than in control (nonfed) products, but during subsequent incubation bacterial numbers increase less rapidly in sham-fed products. Calf pregastric esterase is a major fat digestive enzyme in young calves but gradually becomes subsidiary to pancreatic lipase as secretion of the latter develops with age. Calf, kid goat, and lamb pregastric esterase exhibits optimum activity on milk fat but is capable of splitting other dietary fats. Data on oral and "gastric" lipases in calves, humans, and rats suggests that gastric lipase is oral lipase. Data on pH and temperature optima as well as activation and inhibition of oral lipases is contradictory but appears to vary considerably between species. Calf pregastric esterase exhibits a unique specificity for fatty acids 4:0 to 10:0 and preferentially hydrolyzes the primary ester position of glycerin. Preparations of calf, kid goat, and lamb pregastric esterase are used commercially to impar typical flavors to Italian-type and Feta cheeses and to accelerate flavor development in other cheeses and cheese-like products. Butterfat modified by pregastric esterase is utilized to impart dairy flavor character to a wide range of processed foods. Treatment with pregastric esterase of calf scours and human malabsorption of syndrome also has been reported.  相似文献

Free long-chain fatty acids were infused into the abomasum of lactating dairy cows to determine postruminal effects on feed intake, production and composition of milk, nutrient digestibilities, and metabolites in blood. Four Holstein cows averaging 120 DIM and fitted with ruminal cannulas were used in a 4 x 4 Latin square design with 14-d periods. Treatments were abomasal infusions of 1) control, 168 g/d of meat solubles (carrier for fatty acids), 2) control plus 450 g/d of mostly saturated fatty acids (C16:C18 = .75), 3) control plus 450 g/d of a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids (C16:C18 = .40), and 4) control plus 450 g/d of mostly unsaturated fatty acids (C16:C18 = .11). Production of milk and milk components, DMI, and intake of digestible energy decreased linearly as unsaturation and chain length of infused fatty acids increased. Percentages of fat, CP, and SNF in milk and total tract apparent digestibilities of DM, OM, ADF, NDF, energy, and fatty acids were not affected significantly by treatments. Infusing fatty acids decreased proportions and yields of short- and medium-chain fatty acids and increased proportions and yields of unsaturated C18 fatty acids in milk fat. Increasing unsaturation and chain length of infused fatty acids linearly decreased proportion and yield of palmitic acid but increased proportions and yields of polyunsaturated C18 fatty acids in milk fat. Infusing fatty acids increased concentrations of NEFA and cholesterol in blood plasma. The profile of fatty acids reaching the intestine may be an important determinant of responses to supplemental fats fed to lactating dairy cows.  相似文献

The triglyceride composition of milk fat largely determines the manufacturing characteristics of products containing milk fat. Increasing oleic acid content of milk fat might be desirable for human nutrition and also for butter and whipping cream, among other product applications. The objective of this research was to determine the effects of increasing intestinally available oleic acid (provided via abomasal infusion) on the profile of milk triglycerides. A control and 4 increasing doses of free fatty acids from high oleic sunflower oil (HOSFA) were infused into the abomasum of 4 lactating dairy cows in a changeover experimental design with periods of 7 d. Treatments were (1) control (no fatty acids infused), (2) HOSFA (250 g/d), (3) HOSFA (500 g/d), (4) HOSFA (750 g/d), and (5) HOSFA (1,000 g/d). All treatments included meat solubles and Tween 80 as emulsifiers. Infusion of HOSFA increased oleic acid and decreased short- and medium-chain fatty acids in milk fat. Statistical analysis of results showed linear changes in most of the milk triglycerides analyzed. The most significant changes as the result of increasing HOSFA infusion were a decrease in triglycerides with saturated fatty acids (butyrin-caprylin-palmitin, butyrin-laurin-olein, butyrin-myristin-palmitin, butyrin-palmitin-palmitin, caproin-myristin-palmitin, butyrin-palmitin-stearin, caproin-palmitin-palmitin) and an increase in dioleyl triglycerides (with butyric, lauric, myristic and palmitic acids) and triolein. The synthesis of triglyceride is position-specific and does not follow a random distribution model.  相似文献

Milk was collected from eight multiparous Holstein and four multiparous Brown Swiss cows that were distributed into four groups and arranged in a randomized complete block design with four 4-wk periods. The four treatments included a control diet of a 50:50 ratio of forage-to-concentrate; a fish oil diet of the control diet with 2% (on dry matter basis) added fat from menhaden fish oil; a fish oil with extruded soybean diet of the control diet with 1% (on dry matter basis) added fat from menhaden fish oil and 1% (on dry matter basis) added fat from extruded soybeans; and an extruded soybean diet of the control diet with 2% (on dry matter basis) added fat from extruded soybeans. Milk from cows fed control, fish oil, fish oil with extruded soybean, and extruded soybean diets contained 3.31, 2.58, 2.94, and 3.47% fat, respectively. Concentrations of conjugated linoleic acid in milk were highest in the fish oil (2.30 g/100 g of fatty acids) and fish oil with extruded soybean (2.17 g/100 g of fatty acids) diets compared with the control (0.56 g/100 g fatty acids) diet. Milk, cream, butter, and buttermilk from the fish oil, fish oil with extruded soybean, and extruded soybean diets had higher concentrations of transvaccenic acid and unsaturated fatty acids compared with the controls. Butter made from the extruded soybean diet was softest compared with all treatments. An experienced sensory panel found no flavor differences in milks or butters.  相似文献

We determined the effects of feeding canola oil or infusing it into the abomasum on rumen fermentation, nutrient digestibility, duodenal flows of fatty acids, and milk composition in Holstein cows. Five ruminally and duodenally cannulated Holstein cows in late lactation were used in a 3 x 5 incomplete Latin square design. Treatments were 1) Control: basal diet (CON), 2) Control+supplementation of canola oil at 1 kg/d in the feed (FED), and 3) Control+abomasal infusion of canola oil at 1 kg/d (INF). Compared with CON, feed intake, ruminal fermentation characteristics, ruminal and total tract digestibilities of nutrients were not significantly affected by FED treatment but duodenal flows and milk concentrations of fatty acids (FA) such as trans-11 18:1 and cis-9 trans-11 18:2 (conjugated linoleic acid, CLA) were increased. In contrast to the effects of FED, INF reduced feed intake, total VFA production, intestinal flows of nutrients, FA digestibility and yields of milk and milk fat. Both FED and INF significantly reduced the proportions of saturated and medium-chain FA, and increased cis 18:1 in milk. Concentrations of 18:2n-6 and 18:3n-3 in milk were increased nearly 2-fold with INF relative to CON. Dietary or postruminal supplementation of canola oil to late-lactation cows reduced saturated FA and increased unsaturated C18 in milk but nutrient digestion was adversely affected with abomasal infusion of canola oil.  相似文献

The objective was to determine the influence of dietary lipid on total and sn-2 fatty acid composition and triglyceride structure of milk fat in lactating Holstein cows. Five primiparous Holstein cows surgically fitted with ruminal and duodenal cannulas were used in a 4 x 5 incomplete Latin square. All cows received a basal diet. Treatments consisted of a basal diet with no supplemental canola oil (control), basal diet with canola oil added to the concentrate portion of the diet to provide 1.6% fat, basal diet with 330 g of canola oil infused directly into the rumen, and basal diet with 330 g of canola oil infused directly into the abomasum. Canola oil treatments decreased palmitic acid and increased oleic acid content of milk fat compared with the control. Stearate was higher when canola oil was rumen available compared with control and abomasal infusion. Abomasal infusion increased linoleic and linoleic acids in milk fat compared with the other treatments. The sn-2 fatty acid composition reflected total fatty acid composition. All canola oil treatments reduced palmitic acid and increased oleic acid content at the sn-2 position. Changes in sn-2 composition reflect specificity of the acyl transferases and substrate concentration. Triglyceride composition reported as carbon number was altered by canola oil. Triglycerides in carbon number C50, C52, and C54 were increased while C32, C34, and C36 were decreased.  相似文献

In a 4-wk study of 48 3-day-old calves we compared effects of feeding various fats or their free fatty acids in skim milk-powder based milk replacer, on calf performance, feed utilization, and blood plasma and adipose lipids. When fat was fed, calf performance and feed utilization were equivalent for tallow and coconut oil diets but markedly poorer for corn oil. Complete replacement (tallow) or one-half replacement (coconut and corn oils) of the fats with their free fatty acids reduced calf gains and feed efficiency. Tallow free fatty acids gave lower digestibilities of palmitic and stearic acid and reduced calcium absorption. Free fatty acids from both coconut and corn oils reduced diet palatability and intake; those from tallow and coconut oil markedly interfered (in vitro) with rennet clotting of milk replacers. The main lipid classes in blood plasma for all treatments were cholesteryl esters and phosphatidylcholine. High concentrations (56 to 87%) of linoleic acid occurred in cholesteryl esters for all diets despite low concentrations of linoleic acid in the tallow and coconut oil diets.  相似文献

Four Holstein male calves each were fitted with a reentrant duodenal cannula and fed a low heat milk replacer with or without an oxalate-NaOH buffer known to prevent curd formation in the abomasum. Animals were used in a crossover design to study the effect of milk clotting on duodenal flow of DM, fat, protein, lactose, and Ca. Clotting affected the flow of DM, protein N, total N, and fat as shown by the more uniform gastric emptying of the clotting milk replacer compared with the nonclotting one. For both treatments, the flow rate of these components reached a peak 2 h after feeding. Clotting did not alter the flow rate of free amino N, lactose, and Ca. The cumulative flow of DM, lactose, and Ca was similar for the clotting and nonclotting milk replacers rising gradually during the first 4 h postfeeding and tending to plateau thereafter. The clotting milk replacer resulted in a more linear cumulative flow of fat, protein N, and total N than the nonclotting one. Proteolysis of milk protein in the abomasum was the same for the two milk replacers as indicated by the total flow of free amino N measured over 24 h. Data suggest that milk clotting modifies abomasal flow of milk constituents retained in the abomasal clot but does not alter the flow of constituents in the whey fraction.  相似文献

Blending and chemical interesterification of fats have been used to modify physical and chemical properties of natural fats. The objective of this study was to produce binary mixtures of butterfat and corn oil that serve as a base for a tablespread, keeping the desirable organoleptic qualities of butter, yet with higher contents of ω-6 fatty acids. Chemical interesterification was performed to improve butter’s physical properties, such as better spreadability. Liquefied butterfat and corn oil were mixed in different proportions and then chemically interesterified. Butterfat consisted of 66.5% saturated fatty acids, with palmitic acid being predominant. Corn oil had more than 50% of linoleic acid in its composition. Interesterification significantly reduced trisaturated and triunsaturated triacylglycerol contents and increased softening points in all blends. The negative coefficients of the blends from multiple regression of the solid fat content revealed a monotectic interaction between butterfat and corn oil in temperatures ranging from 10 to 35 °C, before and after interesterification.  相似文献

The physical and chemical characteristics and thermal stability of butter oil produced from cow's milk by two different methods were studied. Butter oil samples from cow's milk were made (i) directly from milk and (ii) from yoghurt. Samples were autoxidized at 60, 70 and 80 degrees C in the dark and the reaction monitored by peroxide, thiobarbituric acid and free fatty acid values. Peroxide and thiobarbituric acid values increased as the temperature increased. The increase of the acid value was not significant. The thermal stability was highest in butter oil produced from yoghurt. Oxidative changes compared to hydrolytic changes are of greater significance in the thermal stability of butter oil samples. Arrhenius parameters and activation energies were calculated for the peroxide value data. The percent loss of linolenic acid was about 3 times faster than that of linoleic acid.  相似文献

Four Holstein male calves, each fitted with a simple duodenal cannula and a reentrant ileal cannula at 7 to 10 d of age, were fed a nonclotting milk replacer based on skim milk powder. The calves were divided into two groups and were infused with either saline (control) or a saline-glucose solution (treatment) according to a switchover design. Glucose infusion improved N retention and decreased plasma concentration of amino acids and urea. Insulin and triglycerides in plasma were not different between the two groups. Ileal flow and digestibility of dietary components were not affected by glucose infusion. The data suggest that additional energy as glucose is needed to optimize N utilization in preruminant calves fed a nonclotting milk replacer.  相似文献

Ruminants have a unique metabolism and digestion of unsaturated fatty acids (UFA). Unlike monogastric animals, the fatty acid (FA) profile ingested by ruminants is not the same as that reaching the small intestine. The objective of this study was to evaluate whole raw soybeans (WS) in diets as a replacer for calcium salts of fatty acids (CSFA) in terms of UFA profile in the abomasal digesta of early- to mid-lactation cows. Eight Holstein cows (80 ± 20 d in milk, 22.9 ± 0.69 kg/d of milk yield, and 580 ± 20 kg of body weight; mean ± standard deviation) with ruminal and abomasal cannulas were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square experiment with 22-d periods. The experiment evaluated different fat sources rich in linoleic acid on ruminal kinetics, ruminal fermentation, FA abomasal flow, and milk FA profile of cows assigned to treatment sequences containing a control (CON), with no fat source; soybean oil, added at 2.68% of diet dry matter (DM); WS, addition of WS at 14.3% of diet DM; and CSFA, addition of CSFA at 2.68% of diet DM. Dietary fat supplementation had no effect on nutrient intake and digestibility, with the exception of ether extract. Cows fed fat sources tended to have lower milk fat concentration than those fed CON. In general, diets containing fat sources tended to decrease ruminal neutral detergent fiber digestibility in relation to CON. Cows fed WS had lower ruminal digestibility of DM and higher abomasal flow of DM in comparison to cows fed CSFA. As expected, diets containing fat supplements increased FA abomasal flow of C18:0 and total FA. Cows fed WS tended to present a higher concentration of UFA in milk when compared with those fed CSFA. This study suggests that under some circumstances, abomasal flow of UFA in early lactation cows can be increased by supplementing their diet with fat supplements rich in linoleic acid, regardless of rumen protection, with small effects on ruminal DM digestibility.  相似文献
