《非诚勿扰》节目作为当前中国大众文化领域中一个典型个案,它的出现是当前中国大众文化发展中一个必然性的偶然事件。它自2010年1月15日开播以来,备受广大观众青睐,其收视率牢牢占据全国同类节目榜首。笔者通过对《非诚勿扰》热播的解读,同时结合当前社会的商业化转型,分析当前审美文化的大众化特征。笔者认为,在消费主义冲击下,审美文化的大众化主要体现为审美主体由精英阶层普及到普通大众,审美对象由高雅艺术走向审美泛化,审美标准由单一走向多元。

奥斯卡·王尔德的唯一的一部小说《道林·格雷的画像》从出版之日起就备受争议,在很长时间内被称为有伤风化的怪物。之后的一个多世纪里,国内外学术界分别从各个角度对这部作品及作家进行了研究。本文主要从心理学的研究角度重新解读小说,试图解析他者对主人公道林自我形成转变过程中所施加的作用,挖掘其与拉康的精神分析理论的契合之处。

The American Psychological Association 2010 Award for Distinguished Contributions to Research in Public Policy was awarded to G. Daniel Lassiter, for his creative, rigorous, and theoretically driven investigations of the behavior perception process provide fundamental insights into both the determinants and the consequences of variation in how social perceivers resolve ongoing events into discrete, meaningful actions. Lassiter was one of the earliest psychological scientists to research police interrogations, and his more than 25-year-long program of scholarship on bias and accuracy in evaluations of videotaped confessions serves as an elegant and inspirational model for bridging the gap between basic theory and real-world applicability. Damage to Treasury: Abnormally Low Tenders in Public Construction Works

The purpose of this paper is to determine the adverse effect of abnormally low tenders (ALTs) on public construction works in Turkey. A comprehensive literature review was performed to investigate the reasons of ALTs. This paper categorizes the reasons behind ALTs with the help of a questionnaire to which 430 construction companies responded. A detailed analysis of the submitted questionnaires revealed a number of reasons for ALTs and their adverse effect on the construction industry. Staying in the business, miscalculation of bid price, work experience document, and inaccuracy of the conceptual cost were found to be the main reasons behind ALTs. A better database system for contractors on market unit prices, a better quality control assessment in construction and postconstruction phases, full complete design documents in tender packages, and a better evaluation system on the assessment of ALTs are recommended by the study.     

Psychology and politics: Heat or light: A reply to The Committee on Women in Psychology.

Argues that the Committee on Women in Psychology's (the Committee on Women in Psychology and E. Kaschak; see record 1984-07805-001) reply to Senator Orrin Hatch's (see record 1983-11524-001) article on psychology, society, and politics distorted facts, proselytized the Committee's values, and at the same time criticized Hatch for having values different from theirs. Review of The Robot's Rebellion: Finding Meaning in the Age of Darwin.

Review of book The Robot's Rebellion: Finding Meaning in the Age of Darwin by Keith E. Stanovich (see record 2004-95228-000). In his interesting scholarly book, The Robot's Rebellion, Stanovich leads us on a journey to find meaning in a world populated by mortal biological vehicles, the robots, put on earth to replicate their masters' selfish genes. If the genes do a satisfactory job programming the robots, then the genes replicate in perpetuity and are, therefore, immortal. Stanovich's basic assumptions are: a) vehicles are designed to replicate genes; b) at least in human animals, the brain houses two minds; c) the first mind, System 1 or The Autonomous Set of Systems, evolved much earlier in evolutionary history than did the second mind, System 2 or the Analytic System; d) System 1 is associative, parallel, fast to respond, and designed to automatically serve its genetic master; e) System 2 is rule-based, serial, slow to respond, not aware of System 1 functioning but sometimes privy to System 1 output, controls executive functioning, and is capable of self-evaluation and leading the rebellion against its genetic master; and, f) memes, culturally generated ideas passed on by nongenetic means, can sometimes be as effective as System 1 at squashing the rebellion. These assumptions are derived from work in cognitive science and evolutionary biology, and provide a solid foundation for the book. Both the metaphor and the basic assumptions are embedded in detailed and informative reviews of decision theory, evolutionary psychology, memetic theory, rational philosophy, and utility theory. The interweaving of metaphor and review provides a framework that allows Stanovich to make inferences to help the general reader understand "the implications of modern science" (p. xi). He also develops criteria to evaluate memes that are needed in his quest to find meaning in human existence. In combination with the basic assumptions, these criteria are used to create an ethical ideology that will be embraced by some readers. The Perceptions of Academic Women in School Psychology: A National Survey.

There is a paucity of research examining the experiences and perceptions of women employed as school psychology academicians. The purpose of this investigation was to ascertain female school psychology academicians' perceptions of their respective academic climates, levels of support, incidences of harassment, and levels of stress. Comparisons between women currently working in psychology departments and those in colleges of education were of particular interest. A total of 128 female school psychology academicians (52% response rate) completed the 48-item survey entitled, "Women in School Psychology: Academia Questionnaire." The findings suggested that the majority of participants (61%) reported that climate differences did not exist. Additionally, the majority of participants were not dissatisfied with their experiences in academia. Although women perceived their respective academic climates as positive, areas of perceived gender disparity were identified.
