The present work reports the effect of carbide volume fraction on erosive wear behaviour of hardfacing cast irons. Five different grades of weld hardfacing cast irons were selected for the present investigation. The solid particle erosion experiments were carried out with blast furnace sinter, silica sand and alumina particles under mild (53–75 μm, 25 m s−1), moderately severe (125–150 μm/100–150 μm, 50 m s−1) and under severe erosion conditions (300–425 μm, 90 m s−1) at impingement angles of 30 and 90°. The variation in erosion rate with carbide volume fraction was observed to be strong function of the erodent particle hardness, impingement angle and the impact velocity. Under mild erosion conditions, erosion rate decreased with increasing carbide volume fraction (CVF), whereas erosion rate increased with CVF under moderately severe erosion condition with alumina particles. With silica sand particles under moderately severe erosion conditions the beneficial effect of large volume fraction of carbides could only be observed at 30°, whereas at normal impact erosion rate increased with increasing CVF. The erosion rate showed power law relationship with ratio of hardness of erodent particle to that of the target material (He/Ht) and expressed as E=c(He/Ht)p.With increasing severity of erosion conditions erosion rate showed stronger dependence on He/Ht as compared to those under mild and moderately severe erosion conditions. The mechanism of materials removal from the carbides involved Hertzian fracture with softer sinter particles, whereas harder alumina particles could plastically indent and cause gross fracture of the carbides.  相似文献

Two miniaturized liquid film sensors (MLFS) based on electrical conductance measurement have been developed and tested. The sensors are non-intrusive and produced with materials and technologies fully compatible and integrable with standard microfluidics. They consist of a line of 20 electrodes with a purpose-designed shape, flush against the wall, covering a total length of 5.00 and 6.68 mm. The governing electronics achieve 10 kHz of time resolution. The electrode spacing of the two sensors is 230 μm and 330 μm, which allows measurements of liquid films up to 150 μm and 400 μm for sensors MLFSA and MLFSB, respectively. The sensor characteristics were obtained by imposing static liquid films of known thickness on top of the actual sensor. Further dynamic measurements of concurrent air-water flow in a horizontal microchannel were performed. The line of electrodes is placed across the flow direction with an angle of 3.53° from the direction of flow, allowing for a spatial resolution perpendicular to the flow of 14.2 μm for sensor MLFSA and 20.5 μm for sensor MLFSB. The high time and spatial resolution allows for fast and accurate detection of the presence of bubbles, and even measurement of film thickness and bubble velocity. Further information, such as the bubble shape, can be gathered based on the shape of the liquid layer underneath the bubble, which is particularly important for heat transfer studies in microchannels.  相似文献

The performance of a photovoltaic module is mainly defined by the maximum power Pmax, which is measured under standard conditions (1000 W/m2, AM 1.5, 25 °C) using a sunlight (natural or simulated) and a calibrated reference device. This reference photovoltaic device, placed in the same lighting conditions than the module under test, allows the measurement of the sunlight levels through the monitoring of the maximum power of these devices. As a key metric for photovoltaics economy, the measurement of Pmax must be a subject of a strong attention. This paper describes the metrology applied and the typical levels of uncertainties achievable by National Laboratories as well as in the Industry.  相似文献

We propose a non-contact temperature measurement method that combines the temperature dependence of transmittance below 600 °C and radiation thermometry above 600 °C. The combined method uses a polarization technique and the Brewster angle between air and a dielectric film such as SiO2 or Si3N4 grown on silicon wafers. A prominent feature of this method is that both measurements of transmittance and radiance are performed with the same geometrical arrangement. For a semitransparent wafer, the measurement of p-polarized transmittance at the wavelengths of 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 μm enables temperature measurement in the range from room temperature to 600 °C. For an opaque wafer above 600 °C, the p-polarized radiation thermometry at the wavelength of 4.5 μm allows the temperature measurement without the emissivity problem. The combined method with the use of transmittance and radiance is valid in the entire temperature range irrespective of variations of film thickness and resistivity.  相似文献

A potential step method was used to characterize the electrooxidation of methanol on a chemically modified electrode in an ionic liquid solvent. Two major findings were reported from this study. Firstly, the oxidation was dominant 2.2 s after the potential step. Before that, the double layer charging and adsorption were dominant. Therefore, there should be a waiting time of a few seconds if a methanol sensor is developed with a potential step method. Secondly, the oxidation of methanol on the electrode was diffusion controlled. The concentration of methanol affected the diffusion. The diffusion constant D0 was 8.37 × 10−17 m2/s when the concentration was lower than 0.5 M and was 2.66 × 10−13 m2/s when the concentration was higher than 1.0 M. This suggests that the methanol concentration should be kept higher than a threshold in an ionic liquid based fuel cell.  相似文献

Cavitation erosion tests of three Fe–Mn–Si–Cr shape memory alloys were carried out at speed 34 and 45 m/s using a rotating disc rig, and their cavitation damage has been investigated by comparison with a referring 13Cr–5Ni–Mo stainless steel used for hydraulic turbine vanes. The research results proved that the cavitation erosion of the Fe–Mn–Si–Cr shape memory alloys is a failure of low cycle fatigue and fracture propagates along grain boundaries. After 48 h cavitation erosion the cumulative mass losses of the studied alloys at speed 45 m/s are more than theirs at speed 34 m/s; however, the effect of velocity on cavitation damage of the Fe–Mn–Si–Cr alloys is much lower than that of 13Cr–5Ni–Mo stainless steel. The cumulative mass loss of the 13Cr–5Ni–Mo stainless steel are 26.3 mg at speed 45 m/s and 3.2 mg at speed 34 m/s, and the mass losses of the Fe–Mn–Si–Cr alloys are within the range of 3.6–7.3 mg at speed 45 m/s and 2.0–4.1 mg at speed 34 m/s. The surface elasticity of the Fe–Mn–Si–Cr shape memory alloys is better than that of the 13Cr–5Ni–Mo stainless steel, and the effect of surface elasticity on cavitation damage increases with velocity. The excellent surface elasticity of the cavitation-induced hexagonal closed-packed (h.c.p.) martensite plays a key role in contribution of phase transformation to the cavitation erosion resistance of the Fe–Mn–Si–Cr shape memory alloys. The cavitation damage of the studied alloys at speed 45 m/s mainly depends on their surface elasticity, and the variation of 48 h cumulative mass loss (Δm) as a function of the elastic depth (he) can be expressed as Δm=2.695+[1371.94/(4(he−46.83)2+12.751)] with a correlation factor of 0.99345.  相似文献

Self-mated wear and friction of Alloy 600 superalloy was studied in a water-submersed ring-on-rod configuration, loading the side of a 6.35 mm diameter rod across the flat surface of a rotating annular ring of 100 mm outer diameter and 70 mm inner diameter producing two sliding contacts along the ring. Tests were conducted at sliding speeds of 0.178 and 0.330 m/s for sliding distances of 100 m. Normal loads of 51 and 204 N were applied, and initial Ra surface roughnesses of the rings along the sliding direction were either smooth (~0.2 μm) or rough (~7.5 μm). Increased initial ring roughness caused a ~20-fold increase in rod wear at the lighter load, whereas at the heavier load increased initial roughness only caused a ~4-fold increase in wear. At lower initial ring roughness the 4-fold decrease in normal load caused a large (one order-of-magnitude) decrease in rod wear, whereas for rings of higher initial roughness the 4-fold decrease in normal load caused only minor (2-fold or less) decreases in rod wear. Wear during this 100 m sliding distance only experienced a minor effect from the 1.8-fold change in sliding speed, as did friction. In all cases friction coefficient rapidly settled into the range 0.6–0.7, except in the cases of lower load on rings of lower initial roughness where friction coefficient remained above 1 for most of this sliding duration. At this lower load the initial ~0.2 μm rod roughnesses increased to nearly 0.8 μm by the 100 m sliding distance, whereas at the higher load this same sliding distance resulted in roughnesses returning near to the initial 0.2 μm. It was hypothesized more highly loaded cases also went through initial roughening prior to smoothening back to 0.2 μm roughness within the 100 m sliding distance, and given additional sliding the more lightly loaded cases would also experience subsequent smoothening. Increasing sliding distance to 400 m, roughnesses indicated a smoothening back to 0.2 μm level during those lightly loaded tests, with friction coefficient correspondingly dropping from 1 into the 0.6–0.7 range observed in all other cases. Extended sliding to 400 m at light loading against rings of lower initial roughness also allowed a rod wear rate which increased with increased sliding distance to be observed, approaching the same rate observed against initially rough rings within the 100 m sliding distance.  相似文献

In ISO 14405-1, the global sizes, such as least-squares diameter, minimum circumscribed diameter and maximum inscribed diameter are defined. The diameters above can be measured by using cylindrical coordinate measuring method like the circular section measuring method of cylindricity error. The determination method of the least-squares diameter was firstly given based on the cylindrical measuring system, and the optimization models of the minimum circumscribed diameter and the maximum inscribed diameter were built, respectively. The corresponding objective functions were unified as “minimax” expressions. For the four axis parameters of the cylinder with the minimum circumscribed diameter or the maximum inscribed diameter, the searching ranges of cylinder’s axis parameters for their optimal solutions were defined numerically. Thereafter, the genetic, steepest decent and BFGS-0.618 algorithms were introduced, and the optimization evaluation algorithms of two kinds of diameters mentioned above were given. Based on many cylinders’ profiles obtained by the circular section measuring method on a measuring instrument of cylinder’s global sizes which was developed by Zhongyuan University of Technology, Zhengzhou, China. The accuracy, efficiency and suitability of three optimization algorithms were investigated through the evaluation of a lot of the minimum circumscribed diameters and the maximum inscribed diameters. The measurement uncertainty of the global sizes for the cylindrical specimen was analyzed, and the measurement uncertainties of the sizes in the radial and z directions are ±0.95 μm and ±0.5 μm, respectively. The total measurement uncertainties of the global sizes of the cylindrical specimens with the specifications of ϕ10 × 120 mm and ϕ100 × 300 mm are ±3.8 μm and ±5.7 μm, respectively. The investigation results showed that for the evaluation of the globe sizes, any one of three algorithms above is not absolutely prior to the other two algorithms while considering both evaluation accuracy and efficiency, and the difference of their evaluation results do not exceed 0.5 μm. On the other hand, many points between the maximum value and the least value do not affect the evaluation results in optimization process. For improving the evaluation efficiency, by de-selecting those points while considering the characteristic parameter was also studied based on the statistic method and experiment. Coefficient t should be less than 0.3 to ensure the evaluation accuracy. This research may be useful for developing the next generation measurement instrument for the global sizes and the way forward for the digital manufacturing.  相似文献

Wire-mesh sensors (WMS), developed at HZDR [4], [13], are widely used to visualize two-phase flows and measure flow parameters, such as phase fraction distributions or gas phase velocities quantitatively and with a very high temporal resolution. They have been extensively applied to a wide range of two-phase gas–liquid flow problems with conducting and non-conducting liquids. However, for very low liquid loadings, the state of the art data analysis algorithms for WMS data suffer from the comparably low spatial resolution of measurements and from boundary effects, caused by e.g. flange rings – especially in the case of capacitance type WMS. In the recent past, diverse studies have been performed on two-phase liquid–gas stratified flow with low liquid loading conditions in horizontal pipes at the University of Tulsa. These tests cover oil–air flow in a 6-inch ID pipe and water–air flow in a 3-inch ID pipe employing dual WMS with 32×32 and 16×16 wires, respectively. For oil–air flow experiments, the superficial liquid and gas velocities vary between 9.2 m/s≤νSG≤15 m/s and 0.01 m/s≤νSL≤0.02 m/s, respectively [2]. In water–air experiments, the superficial liquid and gas velocities vary between 9.1 m/s≤νSG≤33.5 m/s and 0.03 m/s≤νSL≤0.2 m/s, respectively [17], [18]. In order to understand the stratified wavy structure of the flow, the reconstruction of the liquid–gas interface is essential. Due to the relatively low spatial resolution in the WMS measurements of approximately 5 mm, the liquid–gas interface recognition has always an unknown uncertainty level. In this work, a novel algorithm for refined liquid–gas interface reconstruction is introduced for flow conditions where entrainment is negligible.  相似文献

This paper presents a long-stroke contact scanning probe with high precision and low stiffness for micro/nano coordinate measuring machines (micro/nano CMMs). The displacements of the probe tip in 3D are detected by two plane mirrors supported by an elastic mechanism, which is comprised of a tungsten stylus, a floating plate and two orthogonal Z-shaped leaf springs fixed to the outer case. A Michelson interferometer is used to detect the vertical displacement of the mirror mounted on the center of the floating plate. An autocollimator based two dimensional angle sensor is used to detect the tilt of the other plane mirror located at the end of the arm of the floating plate. The stiffness and the dynamic properties are investigated by simulation. The optimal structural parameters of the probe are obtained based on the force-motion model and the constrained conditions of stiffness, measurement range and horizontal size. The results of the performance tests show that the probe has a contact force gradient within 0.5 mN/μm, a measuring range of (±20 μm), (±20 μm), and 20 μm, respectively, in X, Y and Z directions, and a measurement standard deviation of 30 nm. The feasibility of the probe has preliminarily been verified by testing the curved surface of a convex lens.  相似文献

AlCrOxN1−x coatings were arc deposited onto HSS drills and WC–Co end mills at N2/O2 ratios of 0.9–0.75 using DC or 10 kHz pulse bias. Lower O2 content coatings had a hardness of 32.5 GPa. whereas 0.25 O2 ratio coatings were 24–25 GPa. AlCrOxN1−x coated 6.35 mm Dia. HSS jobber drills were tested by drilling 2.5D holes in AISI D2. 10 kHz 0.9 N2 0.1 O2 coatings drilled a mean of 17.6 holes/µm, similar to commercial AlCrN coated drills at 17.8 holes/µm, whereas DC 0.75 N2 0.25 O2 coatings drilled 9 holes/µm. AlCrOxN1−x coated WC–Co end mills had low steady state wear in milling AISI 316L (70 m/min, MQL) and cut >24 m whereas uncoated tools cut 6 m. In contrast to drilling DC 0.75 N2 0.25 O2 tools had the least corner wear and low adhesion on the rake face.  相似文献

The influence of the alkyl chain length and of the anion on the lubricating ability has been studied for the room-temperature ionic liquids (IL) 1-n-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium X [X = PF6; n = 6 (L-P106). X = BF4; n = 2 (L102), 6 (L106), 8 (L108). X = CF3SO3; n = 2 (L-T102). X = (4-CH3C6H4SO3); n = 2 (L-To102)]. Neat IL have been used for AISI 52100 steel-ASTM 2011 aluminium contacts in pin-on-disk tests under variable sliding speed. While all IL give initial friction values lower than 0.15, real-time sharp friction increments related to tribochemical processes have been observed for L102 and L-P106, at room-temperature and at 100 °C. Electronic microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies show that wear scar surfaces are oxidized to Al2O3 and wear debris contain aluminium and iron (for L102) fluorides. For L-P106, the steel surface is covered with a P-containing tribolayer. A change of anion (L-T102; L-To102) reduces friction and wear, but the lowest values are obtained by increasing the alkyl chain length (L106; L108). When the more reactive L102 and L-P106 are used as 1 wt.% base oil additives at 25 °C, tribocorrosion processes are not observed and a friction reduction (69–75% for 1 wt.% L102) and a change from severe (10−3 mm3 m−1) to mild wear (10−4 to 10−6 mm3 m−1) is obtained with respect to the neat IL. 1 wt.% IL additives also show good lubricating performance at 100 °C.  相似文献

The cross-sections formed by the contact asperities of two rough surfaces at an interference are actually island-shaped, rather than having the commonly assumed circular or elliptic contour. These island-shaped contact area contours show fractal behavior with fractal dimension Ds of the two-dimensional profile. The three-dimensional surface fractal dimension for the topography of asperity heights is defined as D and the topothesy is defined as G. In Mandelbrot's study, the relationship between D and Ds was given as D = Ds + 1 if these two fractal dimensions are obtained before contact deformation. In the present study, D, G, and Ds are considered to be varying with the mean separation between two contact surfaces. The DDs relationships for the contacts at the elastic, elastoplastic, and fully plastic deformation regimes are derived and the inceptions of the elastoplastic and fully plastic deformation regimes are redefined using the equality of two expressions established in two different ways for the number of contact spots (N). A revised elastic–plastic contact model of a single fractal asperity is also proposed. The revised model shows that a fractal asperity behaves according to classical contact mechanics, but not those predicted by the MB model. The contact parameters, including the total force and the real contact area, were evaluated when the size distribution functions (n) for the three deformation regimes were available. The results indicate that both the D and Ds parameters in these deformation regimes increased with increasing mean separation.  相似文献

Wear behavior of the HVOF deposited Cr3C2–NiCr and WC–Co coatings on Fe-base steels were evaluated by the pin-on-disc mechanism. The constant normal load applied to the pin was 49 N and sliding distance was 4500 m with velocity of 1 m/s, at ambient temperature and humidity. The specific wear rate of WC–Co coating was 3 mm3/N m and Cr3C2–NiCr coating was 5.3 mm3/N m. SEM/EDAX and XRD techniques were used to analyze the worn out surface and wear debris. The Fe2O3 was identified as the major phase in the wear debris. The wear mechanism is mild adhesive wear in nature.  相似文献

In this paper, precision hard turning is proposed for the finishing of the AISI 52100 bearing components to improve rolling contact fatigue life. This finishing process induces a homogenous microstructure at surface and subsurface layers. Fatigue life tests performed on a twin-disk machine show that rolling contact fatigue life increases as Ra value decreases. The bearing components reached 0.32 million cycles for Ra=0.25 μm and 5.2 million cycles for Ra=0.11 μm. In comparison, the bearing components achieved 1.2 million cycles with grinding (Ra=0.2 μm) and 3.2 million cycles with grinding followed by honing (Ra=0.05 μm) respectively.  相似文献

Natural hematite (Fe2O3) and barite (Ba2SO4) are usually employed as weighting agents for oil based drilling fluids in several venezuelan fields. Hematite has shown some physico-chemical advantages with respect to barite: a greater specific gravity and solubility in acid media and lower attrition rate. However, the most challenging issue related to hematite field applications has been to reduce its high erosive potential. Effects of particle size distribution (PSD) have been evaluated with four different samples of hematite (48, 38, 30 and 18 μm based on the statistical parameter D(v,0.9)) respect to commercial barite. These samples were used to prepare fluids with a density of 1977 kg/m3. An erosion test loop was used to expose different samples of AISI 1020 flat steel to the erosive action of jet fluid. Wear of metallic samples was measured by weight lost and wear mechanisms were identified by laser profilometry, SEM and EDS. The investigation showed that the erosion rate (E) produced by hematite decreases potentially with size grain reduction (D(v,0.9)) and depends on the morphology and angularity of the particle in comparison with barite. Laboratory results were validated on field tests with drilling fluids formulated with hematite of different PSD.  相似文献

The presented 3D-ball plate is used for testing machine tools with a workspace of 500 mm × 500 mm × 320 mm. The artefact consists of a 2D-ball plate which is either located by a kinematic correct coupling on a base plate or on a spacer. The spacers are placed between the base plate and the ball plate and are also kinematic coupled to the other elements of the artefact. The kinematic couplings provide a high repeatability of the measurement setup. Because of the specific application the known calibration procedures for 2D-ball plates are not applicable.A calibration method for the pseudo-3D-artefact on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is presented, with the aim to minimise the influence of geometric CMM errors. Therefore a computer simulation is used to analyse the effects of these disturbing errors on the calibration of the ball plate and the spacers. Using a reversal method, the plate is measured at four different horizontal positions after rotating the ball plate around its vertical axis. A couple of the CMM errors, e.g., a squareness error C0Y between the X- and Y-axis of the CMM, can be eliminated by that method—others have to be determined with additional measurements, e.g., the positioning errors EXX or EYY of the X- and Y-axis, respectively. The paper also contains a measurement uncertainty estimation for the calibration by use of experiments, tolerances and Monte Carlo-simulations. The achieved uncertainty for ball positions in the working volume is less than 2.1 μm (coverage factor k = 2).  相似文献

A motorized 5 m tape comparator was constructed in TUBITAK UME for calibration of tapes and rules up to 5 m length in one set-up and further lengths in multiple set-ups. The system is a practical development and provides a cost effective solution for calibration of tapes in which the highest grade’s accuracy requirement in OIML R35-1 e.g. is 600 μm for 5 m length and 1100 μm for 10 m length. It is mainly composed of 6 m rail system, mechanical parts, optical units and an integrated 6 m incremental linear encoder as a reference measurement axis for traceable measurements. The rails are kinematically located on a heavy marble construction and a motorized carriage, which employs a camera for probing of the scales on the tapes, is moved along the rails during the measurement. The image of the scale taken by the camera is viewed on the monitor screen together with the running software. The operator can perform the probing process by simply moving the carriage over the measured scales (tapes or rules) using a joystick. The carriage movement is measured by the incremental linear encoder previously calibrated by a laser interferometer and the software automatically takes the measurement results from the incremental linear encoder, applies correction values previously defined and determines the length of the tapes and rules as well as deviations from nominal lengths. The estimated expanded uncertainty of the steel tape measurement is U = 54 μm in one set-up (for 5 m length) and U = 77 μm in two set-ups (for 10 m length) at the confidence level of approximately 95%. Uncertainty budget for calibration of the device itself and for calibration of the test tapes are explained in detail. The results of extensive experimental work and analysis are provided by demonstrating application of science and technology of measurement and instrumentation. Investigations for long term stability of the system are given with the reported test results for the years of 2003-2011 and participated intercomparison results to validate the device scientifically are illustrated.  相似文献

In this research, the wear of electroless Ni–P and Ni–P–B4C composite coatings was reviewed. Auto catalytic reduction of Ni in nickel sulfate and sodium hypophosphate bath including suspended B4C particles with different concentration was used to create composite coatings with 12, 18, 25 and 33 vol.% of B4C particles. Coatings 35 μm thick were heat treated at 400 °C for one hour in an argon atmosphere and the wear resistance and friction coefficient of heat-treated samples were determined by block-on-ring tests. All wear tests were carried out at 24 °C, 35% moisture, 0.164 m/s sliding speed and about 1000 m sliding distance. Graphs show that an electroless Ni–P–B4C composite coating with 25 vol.% of B4C had the best wear resistance against a CK45 steel counterface.  相似文献
