Planar microstrip photonic bandgap (PBG) structures are periodic arrays of holes etched in the ground plane of a conventional microstrip line. Most of the published studies considered the PBG as an unshielded structure. However, to fabricate a circuit with a PBG structure, a metallic enclosure is often needed. Thus, the S-parameters of the PBG structure will be altered correspondingly. In this paper, the influence of the metallic enclosure on a shielded PBG structure as well as the finite ground plane on an unshielded PBG structure on the S-parameters are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Conditions for which the influence can be neglected are obtained. The results are useful for the applications of PBG structures  相似文献

通过对传统二维微带 PBG 结构的研究,针对微带线的传播常数是微带线相对于接地板上周期孔眼的两个主轴的位置和方向的敏感参数而不能根据实际情况任意布线的缺点,提出了一种新型一维微带 PBG(photonic bandgap)单元结构及其等效 L-C 电路模型。本文提出的 PBG 传输线可以应用于微波集成电路中,能够减小电路尺寸,且可以抑制高次谐波的产生。  相似文献

提出一种新型光子带隙(PBG)结构微带贴片天线。在同轴线馈电型微带贴片天线的接地板上蚀刻出新颖PBG结构,通过数值仿真得到有效提高增益的结构。实际制作了PBG结构微带天线,并实测了天线特性参数。数值结果和实验结果进行了比较,取得了较为一致的结果.实测天线增益达8.8dB,比无PBG时提高约3dB,验证了该PBG结构的有效性。  相似文献

This paper presents a novel photonic bandgap (PBG) structure for microwave integrated circuits. This new PBG structure is a two-dimensional square lattice with each element consisting of a metal pad and four connecting branches. Experimental results of a microstrip on a substrate with the PEG ground plane displays a broad stopband, as predicted by finite-difference time-domain simulations. Due to the slow-wave effect generated by this unique structure, the period of the PBG lattice is only 0.1λ0 at the cutoff frequency, resulting in the most compact PEG lattice ever achieved. In the passband, the measured slow-wave factor (β/k0) is 1.2-2.4 times higher and insertion loss is at the same level compared to a conventional 50-Ω line. This uniplanar compact PBG (UC-PBG) structure can be built using standard planar fabrication techniques without any modification. Several application examples have also been demonstrated, including a nonleaky conductor-backed coplanar waveguide and a compact spurious-free bandpass filter. This UC-PBG structure should find wide applications for high-performance and compact circuit components in microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits  相似文献

Photonic bandgap (PBG) structures can stop propagation of electromagnetic waves of certain frequencies and hence can be applied to construction of microstrip filters. In this paper, a novel PBG microstrip filter based on YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ high-temperature superconductor films is presented. The PBG patterns forming the filters were etched on a 0.3- and a 0.7-/spl mu/m-thick film. Experimental results showed that the transmission coefficient S/sub 21/ of the filter is dependent on the thickness of the YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-x/ film. The thinner PBG filter exhibits an effective stopband of a center frequency of 20 GHz, a bandwidth of 4.7 GHz (at -40 dB), an attenuation of -55 dB, and a rolloff rate of 38 dB/GHz, while the thicker structure exhibits narrow notches only in the S/sub 21/ characteristics.  相似文献

 本文首次提出综合PBG结构和微带线结构两因素,来设计滤波器的概念.与普通PBG结构滤波器不同的是,本文采用具有T形和十字形短截线的微带线代替直线微带线,在接地板上只需刻蚀一列PBG结构即可构成宽阻带低通滤波器.文中以T形短截线PBG结构的低通滤波器为例,运用时域有限差分法(FDTD),分析了在不同短截线长度和PBG结构方孔边长的情况下,该滤波器的传输特性.文中还给出了该滤波器和Rumsey方法与Kim方法设计的级联、并联两种PBG结构低通滤波器的传输特性的模拟结果及其对比分析.最后,文中给出了模拟结果和测试结果,来验证所设计的低通滤波器的有效性.  相似文献

本文比较了PBG(photonic band-gap)结构的三种测量方法,包括共面微带线法,振子法和悬置微带线法.然后以PVPBG(patch and via PBG)结构为例研究了PBG结构在振子天线、微带天线和E形天线中的应用.仿真和实验结果表明PBG结构可以起到改善天线输入阻抗,增强前向辐射,抑制后向辐射,提高天线前向增益的作用.在缝耦合PVPBG结构的基础上,提出了一种新的交指PVPBG结构,其尺寸为具有相同带隙频率的缝耦合PVPBG结构的3/4.  相似文献

This paper presents uniplanar one-dimensional (1-D) periodical structures, so-called photonic-bandgap (PBG) structures, and defect high-Q resonators for coplanar waveguide, coplanar strip line, and slot line. Proposed uniplanar PBG structures consist of 1-D periodically etched slots along a transmission line or alternating characteristic impedance series with wide band-stop filter characteristics. A stop bandwidth obtained is 2.8 GHz with a stopband rejection of 36.5 dB. This PBG performance can be easily improved if the number of cells or the filling factor is modified in a parametric analysis. Using uniplanar 1-D PBG structures, we demonstrate new high-Q defect resonators with full-wave simulation and measured results. These structures based on defect cavity or Fabry-Perot resonators consist of a center resonant line with two sides of PBG reflectors. They achieve a loaded Q of 247.3 and unloaded Q of 299.1. Recently, new promising two-dimensional (2-D) Photonic Bandgap Structures (PBG), or more properly Electromagnetic Crystal Structures, for microstrip lines have been proposed. In this paper, we analyze these structures in a manner like a Bragg reflector in optical wavelengths. Joining two of such Bragg like reflectors by means of a conventional microstrip transmission line allows one to design Bragg Resonators. The 2-D periodic pattern of the electromagnetic crystal structure is implemented with circles etched in the ground plane of the microstrip line by means of a numerical milling machine. Simulations have been performed by using HP TM Momentum and MDS software, and in accordance with the measurements give, for the Electromagnetic Crystal Structures, new promising potential applications both in microwave and millimeter wave integrated circuits, and also in the experimentation of expensive short wavelength (including photonic) devices by using simpler and cheaper microwave down scaling.  相似文献

文中提出了一种具有光子带隙特性的多层结构,由方形金属构成的周期阵列位于介质衬底的正中.此结构与传统的微带电路完全兼容,制作时无需在介质衬底中打孔,同时保持了接地地板的完整性.文中比较了阵列平面处于不同位置时的带隙特性,然后通过改变阵列形式来改善带隙特性.文章的最后说明了该结构的一种应用方式.  相似文献

A double-square-ring slot period structure is proposed, designed in the power plane of the circuit board to suppress the ground bounce noise (GBN) in high-speed circuits. The novel design is based on the ring splits that connect the adjacent square patches in the power plane, which results in a wideband mitigation of the GBN ranging from 500 MHz to 5.5 GHz. The impact of the etched structures on the signal integrity (SI) is also investigated. Results show that good SI can be maintained while using the novel period structure in the power plane, and further improvement of the SI performance can be obtained by employing differential pairs of microstrip line for signals.  相似文献

This paper deals with a method for analysis of pulse transmission and reflection on microstrips sections that can be used as interconnection lines in or between high-speed digital integral circuits. It is shown that z-transform, which defines an intermediate domain between time and frequency, leads to a very general simulation method of the transient properties of the line sections. The line characteristics can be frequency dependent because of the propagation losses. The validity of the model is established from direct measurements on microstrip sections etched on alumina and GaAs substrates.  相似文献

This paper presents a dual-frequency electric-magnetic-electric (EME) microstrip exhibiting two leaky-wave regions of similar radiation characteristics like the microstrip EH/sub 1/ mode. The EME microstrip incorporates a photonic bandgap (PBG) structure, which is a two-dimensional array consisting of unit cell made of coupled coils connected by a via. The PBG structure employed in the EME prototype conducts at dc and shows the first stopband between 8.8-12.4 GHz, thus rendering the so-called magnetic surface. The EME microstrip is essentially made by substituting the PBG cells for the metal strip of a conventional microstrip. The finite-element method (FEM) analyses of the PBG structure show that the first and second modes are TM-like and TEM-like, respectively. The latter is leaky between 12.4-12.9 GHz and is found to be responsible for the second leaky region of the EME microstrip. The dispersion characteristics of the EME microstrip are obtained by two theoretical methods, namely, the matrix-pencil method and the FEM. Both show excellent agreement in the two leaky regions. Furthermore, the measured far-field radiation patterns of the two leaky regions also validate the dispersion curves. The first leaky region is of EH/sub 1/ type and between 5.05-5.45 GHz. The second leaky region radiates a frequency-scanning fan beam between 11.95-13.0 GHz, similar to those of the EH/sub 1/ mode. Detailed modal current analyses show even and odd symmetry along longitudinal and transverse plane of EME microstrip, respectively, further confirming the two leaky regions behave like the well-known EH/sub 1/ leaky mode. The proposed EME microstrip enriches the modal characteristics of the conventional, uniform microstrip and is thus a manifestation of application of PBG structure for new guiding device.  相似文献
