A new creep–fatigue damage cumulative model is proposed under multiaxial thermomechanical random loading, in which the damage at high temperature can be divided into the pure fatigue damage and the equivalent fatigue damage from creep. During the damage accumulation process, the elementary percentage of the equivalent fatigue damage increment is proportional to that of the creep damage increment, and the creep damage is converted to the equivalent fatigue damage. Moreover, combined with a multiaxial cyclic counting method, a life prediction method is developed based on the proposed creep–fatigue damage cumulative model. In the developed life prediction method, the effects of nonproportional hardening on the fatigue and creep damages are considered, and the influence of mean stress on damage is also taken into account. The thermomechanical fatigue experimental data for thin‐walled tubular specimen of superalloy GH4169 under multiaxial constant amplitude and variable amplitude loadings were used to verify the proposed model. The results showed that the proposed method can obtain satisfactory life prediction results.  相似文献

A hybrid frequency–time domain method for predicting multiaxial fatigue life under random loading is developed on the basis of combination of the frequency domain and time domain analysis. The critical damage point of the structure is determined by the frequency domain equivalent stress method. Then, the fatigue life prediction is made in time domain by generating random load‐time histories from the power spectral density of the critical point. The method is validated with the random vibration fatigue test of 7075‐T6 aluminium alloy. It has been shown that the results of fatigue life calculated by hybrid method are well correlated with the experiment.  相似文献

To realize online multiaxial fatigue damage assessment for the mechanical components in service, an online multiaxial cycle counting method is proposed coupled with the segment processing technique and Wang‐Brow's relative equivalent strain concept. Meanwhile, considering all the stress and strain components, which contribute to the fatigue damage on the critical plane, a multiaxial fatigue damage model without any weight coefficients is also proposed in an equivalent form of shear strain energy. Then, an online fatigue damage evaluation method for multiaxial random loading is developed by combining with the proposed damage model and online cycle counting method. The experimental results showed that the proposed online cycle counting method can be successfully applied to the calculation of multiaxial fatigue damage under random loading. Moreover, the proposed online multiaxial fatigue damage evaluation method can provide satisfactory predictions.  相似文献

Some popular concepts for reducing three variable stress components σx(t), σy(t), τxy(t) to one equivalent amplitude spectrum, and the use of the linear damage accumulation hypothesis, have been evaluated as not fully correct when these components vary non-proportionally and arbitrarily. A different approach is suggested: computing damage accumulation by means of an integral directly on the non-radial arbitrary path, called the ‘trajectory’, described in the σx−σy plane when τxy(t) = 0, in the σx−τxy plane when σy(t) = 0, or in a special coordinate space where this trajectory is invariant of stress directions x, y. If the trajectory is random, it may be replaced by a statistical two-dimensional density of distribution. The integrand, called the R-function, is derived from various SN fatigue curves under different determined loadings. Thus the traditional SN function is replaced by the R-function for direct damage summation with differential analysis, which allows the loading to be arbitrary (non-cyclic, multiaxial and non-proportional). The method works by means of computer programs and is applicable to real structures.  相似文献

In order to assess the fatigue behaviour of structural components under a complex (cyclic or random) multiaxial stress history, methods based on damage mechanics concepts can be employed. In this paper, a model for fatigue damage evaluation in the case of an arbitrary multiaxial loading history is proposed by using an endurance function which allows us to determine the damage accumulation up to the final failure of the material. By introducing an evolution equation for the endurance function, the final collapse can be assumed to occur when the damage D is complete, that is when D reaches the unity. The parameters of this model, which adopts the stress invariants and the deviatoric stress invariants to quantify the damage phenomenon, are determined through a Genetic Algorithm once experimental data on the fatigue behaviour of the material being examined are known for some complex stress histories. With respect to traditional approaches to multiaxial fatigue assessment, the proposed model presents the following advantages: (1) the evaluation of a critical plane is not necessary; (2) no cycle counting algorithm to determine the fatigue life is required, because it considers the progressive damage process during the fatigue load history; (3) the model can be applied to any kind of stress history (uniaxial cyclic loading, multiaxial in‐phase or out‐of‐phase cyclic loading, uniaxial or multiaxial random loading).  相似文献

In this paper generalized criteria of multiaxial random fatigue based on stress, strain and strain energy density parameters in the critical plane have been discussed. The proposed criteria reduce multiaxial state of stress to the equivalent uniaxial tension–compression or alternating bending. Relations between the coefficients occurring in the considered criteria have been derived. Thus, it is possible to take into account fatigue properties of materials under simple loading states during determination of the multiaxial fatigue life. Presented models have successfully correlated fatigue lives of cast iron GGG40 and steel 18G2A specimens under constant amplitude in‐phase and out‐of‐phase loadings including different frequencies.  相似文献

A computerized procedure is presented and evaluated for application examples of long-life fatigue analyses of metallic materials under complex multiaxial loading. The method is based on the stress invariants and uses the minimum circumscribed ellipse approach for evaluating the effective shear stress amplitude under complex multiaxial loading. The applicability of the procedure for handling non-proportional loading is examined through typical examples such as combined normal/shear stresses and combined bi-axial normal stresses with complex stress time histories. The effects of phase shift angles, frequency ratios and waveforms on fatigue endurance were re-analysed and compared with available experimental results from the literature. The comparison shows that the presented procedure based on stress invariants is a potential conservative engineering approach, very suitable for fast fatigue evaluation in the integrated computer aided fatigue design.  相似文献

A series of multiaxial low-cycle fatigue experiments was performed on 45 steel under non-proportional loading. The present evaluations of multiaxial low-cycle fatigue life were systematically analysed. A combined energy density and critical plane concept is proposed that considers different failure mechanisms for a shear-type failure and a tensile-type failure, and from which different damage parameters for the critical plane-strain energy density are proposed. For tensile-type failures in material 45 steel and shear-type failures in material 42CrMo steel, the new damage parameters permit a good prediction for multiaxial low-cycle fatigue failure under non-proportional loading. The currently used critical plane models are a special and simple form of the new model.  相似文献

Strain-based multiaxial fatigue damage modelling   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new multiaxial fatigue damage model named characteristic plane approach is proposed in this paper, in which the strain components are used to correlate with the fatigue damage. The characteristic plane is defined as a material plane on which the complex three‐dimensional (3D) fatigue problem can be approximated using the plane strain components. Compared with most available critical plane‐based models for multiaxial fatigue problem, the physical basis of the characteristic plane does not rely on the observations of the fatigue crack in the proposed model. The cracking information is not required for multiaxial fatigue analysis, and the proposed model can automatically adapt for different failure modes, such as shear or tensile‐dominated failure. Mean stress effect is also included in the proposed model by a correction factor. The life predictions of the proposed fatigue damage model under constant amplitude loading are compared with a wide range of metal fatigue results in the literature.  相似文献

A multiaxial fatigue criterion for random loading   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
ABSTRACT A multiaxial fatigue criterion for random loading is proposed. Firstly, the orientation of the critical plane, where fatigue life estimation is carried out, is determined from the weighted mean position of the principal stress directions. Then, the scalar value of the normal stress vector N (t) perpendicular to the critical plane is taken as the cycle counting variable since the direction of such a vector is fixed with respect to time (conversely to the time‐varying direction of the shear stress vector C (t)), and a nonlinear combination of normal and shear stress components acting on the critical plane is used to define an equivalent stress amplitude. Finally, a damage accumulation model is employed to process such an equivalent stress amplitude and to determine fatigue endurance. This criterion is herein applied to some relevant random fatigue tests (proportional bending and torsion).  相似文献

Nowadays, the estimation of fatigue life under multiaxial random loading is still an extremely complex task. In this paper, a comprehensive review of the multiaxial random fatigue criteria available in the literature is presented. Such a review is mainly devoted to stress‐based criteria for the evaluation of fatigue life in high‐cycle regime. Time and frequency domain approaches are examined. The focus of this paper is related to uniform stress/strain distribution, but also the effect of stress/strain gradient is tangentially addressed. More than 200 references are cited.  相似文献

The myriad applicability of the frequency‐domain critical plane criterion is outlined in order to evaluate and track the progression of fatigue damage in metallic structures subjected to high‐cycle multiaxial random vibrations. The fatigue assessment using the given criterion is performed according to the following stages: (i) critical plane definition, (ii) power spectral density evaluation of an equivalent normal stress and (iii) computation of the damage precursor and fatigue life. The frequency‐domain critical plane criterion is validated using experimental results related to (a) AISI 1095 steel cantilever beams under nonlinear base vibration, (b) 18G2A steel and (c) 10HNAP steel round specimens under random non‐proportional combined flexural and torsional loads.  相似文献

In the present paper, a damage gradient model combing the damage concept with the theory of critical distance (TCD) is established to estimate the fatigue lives of notched metallic structures under multiaxial random vibrations. Firstly, a kind of notched metallic structure is designed, and the biaxial random vibration fatigue tests of the notched metallic structures are carried out under different correlation coefficients and phase differences between two vibration axes. Then, the fatigue lives of the notched metallic structures are evaluated utilizing the proposed model with the numerical simulations. Finally, the proposed model is validated by the experiment results of the biaxial random vibration fatigue tests. The comparison results demonstrate that the proposed model can provide fatigue life estimation with high accuracy.  相似文献

A stress-based method to predict lifetime under multiaxial fatigue loadings   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper extends to low/medium‐cycle fatigue a stress‐based method recently proposed by the same authors for high‐cycle multiaxial fatigue assessments. By considering the plane of maximum shear stress amplitude coincident with the microcrack initiation plane, the method requires the calculation both of the maximum shear stress amplitude and the maximum normal stress relative to the same plane. Multiaxial fatigue life estimates are made by means of bi‐parametric modified Wöhler curves, which take into account the mean stress effect, the influence of the out‐of‐phase angle and the presence of notches by using a generalization to multiaxial fatigue of the fatigue strength reduction factor Kf. Approximately 700 experimental data taken from the literature are used to demonstrate that the method is a useful tool to summarize fatigue strength data of both smooth and notched components, subjected to either in‐phase or out‐of‐phase loads. Finally, a simple practical rule for the calculation of the multiaxial fatigue strength reduction factor is proposed.  相似文献

In the present paper, the fatigue lifetime of metallic structural components subjected to variable amplitude loading is evaluated by applying 2 different multiaxial high‐cycle fatigue criteria. Such criteria, proposed by some of the present authors, are based on the critical plane approach and aim at reducing a given multiaxial stress state to an equivalent uniaxial stress condition. In particular, the procedure employed by both criteria consists of the following 3 steps: (1) definition of the critical plane; (2) counting of loading cycles; and (3) estimation of fatigue damage. Finally, the previous criteria are validated by comparing the theoretical results with experimental data related to smooth metallic specimens subjected to uniaxial and multiaxial variable amplitude loading.  相似文献

A new critical plane‐energy model is proposed in this paper for multiaxial fatigue life prediction of metals. A brief review of existing methods, especially on the critical plane‐based and energy‐based methods, is given first. Special focus is on the Liu–Mahadevan critical plane approach, which has been shown to work for both brittle and ductile metals. One potential drawback of the Liu–Mahadevan model is that it needs an empirical calibration parameter for non‐proportional multiaxial loadings because only the strain terms are used and the out‐of‐phase hardening cannot be explicitly considered. An energy‐based model using the Liu–Mahadevan concept is proposed with the help of the Mróz–Garud plasticity model. Thus, the empirical calibration for non‐proportional loading is not needed because the out‐of‐phase hardening is naturally included in the stress calculation. The model predictions are compared with experimental data from open literature, and the proposed model is shown to work for both proportional and non‐proportional multiaxial loadings without the empirical calibration.  相似文献

Rotor components of an aircraft engine in service are usually subjected to combined high and low cycle fatigue (CCF) loadings. In this work, combining with the load spectrum of CCF, a modified damage accumulation model for CCF life prediction of turbine blades is first put forward to take into account the effects of load consequence and load interaction caused by high‐cycle fatigue (HCF) loads and low‐cycle fatigue (LCF) loads under CCF loading conditions. The predicted results demonstrate that the proposed model presents a higher prediction accuracy than Miner, Manson‐Halford model does. Moreover, to evaluate the fatigue reliability of rotor components, reliability model with the failure mode of CCF is proposed on the basis of the stress‐strength interference method when considering the strength degeneration, and its results show that the reliability model with CCF is more suitable for aero‐engine components than that with the failure mode of single fatigue.  相似文献

The present studies are aimed at validation of a newly developed critical plane model with respect to large variety of engineering materials used for different applications. This newly developed model has been recently reported by present authors. To strengthen general applicability of this model, multiaxial test database consisting of a wide variety of multiaxial loading paths have been considered. The strain paths include pure axial, pure torsion, in‐phase axial‐torsion, out‐of‐phase axial‐torsion with phase shift angles varying from 30° to 180° having sine/trapezoidal/triangular strain waveforms, with/without mean axial/shear strains and asynchronous axial‐torsion strain paths of different frequency ratios etc. The materials covered in present study are mainly categorized as ferrous and nonferrous alloys. In ferrous alloy category, material grades from plain carbon steel (mild steel, 16MnR, SA333 Gr. 6, E235 and E355), low‐alloy steel (1Cr‐Mo‐V and S460 N) and austenitic stainless steel (SS304, SS316L and SS347) have been considered. In nonferrous alloy category, aluminium alloys (2024T3‐Al, 7075T651‐Al, and PA38‐T6‐Al), titanium (pure titanium and TC4 alloy), cobalt base super‐alloy (Haynes 188), and nickel alloy (Inconel‐718) have been considered. The predicted and test fatigue lives are found in good agreement for all these materials and complex multiaxial loading paths.  相似文献

For engineering components subjected to multiaxial loading, fatigue life prediction is crucial for guaranteeing their structural security and economic feasibility. In this respect, energy‐based models, integrating the stress and strain components, are widely used because of their availability in fatigue prediction. Through employing the plastic strain energy concept and critical plane approach, a new energy‐based model is proposed in this paper to evaluate the low‐cycle fatigue life, in which the critical plane is defined as the maximum damage plane. In the proposed model, a newly defined NP factor κ*  is used to quantify the nonproportional (NP) effect so that the damage parameter can be conveniently calculated. Moreover, a simple estimation method of weight coefficient is developed, which can reflect different contributions of shear and normal plastic strain energy on total fatigue damage. Experimental data of 10 kinds of materials are employed to assess the effectiveness of this model as well as three other energy‐based models.  相似文献

In this paper, several multiaxial fatigue damage parameters taking into account nonproportional additional hardening are reviewed. According to the way nonproportional additional hardening is considered in the model, the damage parameters are classified into 2 categories: (1) equivalent damage parameters and (2) direct damage parameters. The equivalent damage parameters usually define a nonproportional coefficient to consider nonproportional additional cyclic hardening, and make a combination of this nonproportional coefficient with stress and/or strain quantities to calculate the equivalent damage parameters. In contrast, the direct damage parameters are directly estimated from the stress and strain quantities of interest. The accuracy of 4 multiaxial fatigue damage parameters in predicting fatigue lifetime is checked against about 150 groups of experimental data for 10 different metallic materials under multiaxial fatigue loading. The results revealed that both Itoh's model, one of equivalent damage parameters, and Susmel's model, which belong to direct damage parameters, could provide a better correlation with the experimental results than others assessed in this paper. So direct damage parameters are not better than the equivalent damage parameters in predicting fatigue lifetime.  相似文献
