Macroscopic parallel aligned non-woven carbon fibers were incorporated into Al2O3 composites in this study to evaluate the contribution of multiple reflections to the total electric magnetic interference (EMI) shielding. Results indicate that parallel aligned non-woven carbon fiber layers contribute significantly to the total EMI shielding effectiveness (SET) of Al2O3 composites by largely enhancing the EMI absorption, and seven parallel aligned thin non-woven carbon fiber layers finally make the almost microwave-transparent Al2O3 an excellent EMI shielding material with an EMI SET as high as 29–32 dB in the X-band frequency range. The volume fraction of carbon fibers in Al2O3 composites with seven carbon fiber layers is calculated to be only 0.5%, and therefore the EMI SE enhancement efficiency by parallel aligned large non-woven carbon fiber layers is much higher than other highly conducting nano fillers. It validates the significance of multiple reflections in achieving high EMI shielding properties in ceramic composites and provides an instructive approach to design efficient EMI shielding ceramic composites.  相似文献

In this article, lightweight silver@carbon microsphere@graphene (Ag@CMS@GR) composite materials were fabricated. First, carbon microsphere (CMS) was prepared by redox hydrothermal method in the presence of FeCl3 and polyvinyl alcohol. Next, on the surface, silver was deposited to form Ag@CMS particles. And finally, the graphene sheets were added to connect Ag@CMS particles to obtain Ag@CMS@GR composites. Because of the silver nanoparticle may form a conductive pathway, Ag@CMS with relative high content of silver nanoparticles show superior EMI shielding properties. Next, graphene was introduced into Ag@CMS with relative low content of silver particles to form Ag@CMS@GR composites, which is helpful for decreasing the apparent density of composites to around 1.01 g·cm−3. And the composites also show good EMI shielding properties. The highest SE and specific SE values of Ag@CMS@GR reached 39.26 dB and 38.87 dB·cm3·g−1 with 5 wt % graphene content. The EMI shielding mechanism of Ag@CMS@GR composites was discussed. It can be potentially used for lightweight EMI shielding applications. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) decorated with ferromagnetic materials have promising potential in electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications. In this work, CNT sponges with increasing density were fabricated by filling them with magnetic Fe nanowires of mutative filling ratios via chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Results indicated that Fe@CNT composites with the highest density endowed the most remarkable average SET value of 70.01 dB (more than 99.99999% absorption), showing an ultra-high EMI shielding performance. However, the susceptibility to oxidation of carbon materials has restricted its further development in high-temperature EMI shielding applications. Therefore, the Fe@CNT composites were encapsulated by silicon carbide (SiC) with satisfactory oxidation resistance. Thereafter, the average SET value of SiC encapsulated a higher density Fe@CNT sponge decreased to an adequate value of 36.48 dB due to the huge loss of electrical conductivity. However, the SET value of it only dropped by about 1.20 as the temperature went up from 25 to 600 °C, demonstrating an excellent stability under high temperature conditions. As a proof of concept, the Fe@CNT/SiC composites with adequate EMI shielding performance and satisfactory oxidation resistance suggest its prospect in high temperature resistant EMI shielding.  相似文献

Aiming to prepare high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials, chopped carbon fibers were incorporated into mullite ceramic matrix via rapid prototyping process of spark plasma sintering (SPS). Results indicate that Cf/mullite composites with only 1 wt% of carbon fibers exhibit highest shielding effectiveness (SET) over 40 dB at a small thickness of 2.0 mm, showing great advantages both in terms of performance and thickness compared with many mature carbon/ceramic composites. The high EMI shielding properties mainly depend on two mechanisms of absorption and reflection in this present work. The enhanced absorption and reflection of electromagnetic wave are ascribed to the promotional electrical conductivity arising from the formation of conductive network by introduction of carbon fibers. Regarding enhanced electrical conductivity, notable intensified interfacial polarization on a large number of interfaces between mullite matrix and carbon fibers is also the key factor to the improved absorption, which makes absorption play a dominant role in the significant improvement of EMI SET. The Cf/mullite composites with excellent EMI shielding properties and thin thickness show great potential application as EMI materials.  相似文献

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is an increasingly severe issue in modern life and high-performance EMI shielding materials are in desperate need. To achieve high EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE), a series of polybenzoxazine/graphene composites foams are developed using a simple sol–gel method. When the graphene loading increases from 1 to 20 wt%, the density of the composites foams drops from 0.4143 g/cm3 to 0.1654 g/cm3. Meanwhile, an electrically conductive path is formed at around 7 wt% of graphene. Below the percolation threshold, the dielectric constant increases with graphene content and composite foam with 5 wt% graphene shows dielectric constant of 10.8 (1 MHz). At the highest graphene content of 20 wt%, the electric conductivity reaches 0.02 S/cm, 10 orders of magnitude higher than pure polybenzoxazine foam. Benefiting from the high electrical conductivity and lightweight porous structure, the composite foam PF/20G delivers an EMI SE of 85 dB and a specific SE of 513.9 dB·cm3/g. Importantly, the EMI shielding is dominated by absorption attenuation, with PF/20G shows absorption ratio higher than 98% in the range of 8.4–11.0 GHz, which is believed to be caused by multiple internal reflection and absorption inside the conductive foam.  相似文献

Electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of multifunctional Fe3O4/carbon nanofiber composites in the X-band region (8.2–12.4 GHz) is studied. Here, we examine the contributing effects of various parameters such as Fe3O4 content, carbonization temperature and thickness on total shielding efficiency (SEtotal) of different samples. The maximum EMI SE of 67.9 dB is obtained for composite of 5 wt.% Fe3O4 (0.7 mm thick) with the dominant shielding by absorption (SEA) of electromagnetic radiation. The enhanced electromagnetic shielding performance of Fe3O4/carbon nanofiber composites is attributed to the increment of both magnetic and dielectric losses due to the incorporation of magnetite nanofiller (Fe3O4) in electrically conducting carbon nanofiber matrix as well as the specific nanofibrous structure of carbon nanofiber mats, which forms a higher aspect ratio structure with randomly aligned nanofibers. Furthermore, we prove that the addition of elastomeric polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a coating for carbon nanofiber composite strengthens the composite structure without interfering with its electromagnetic shielding efficiency.  相似文献

In this report, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT) embedded poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) microspheres (CNT/SEBS) were prepared by solvent evaporation method. Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets were used to cover the surface of CNT/SEBS microspheres. The CNT/SEBS/rGO nanocomposites with special segregated conductive network were fabricated by hot pressing these as-prepared complex microspheres. The morphology, electrical percolation threshold, electrical conductivity, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of CNT/SEBS/rGO composites were characterized. The shielding mechanisms were discussed in detail. Analysis of electrical conductive performance shows that the electrical percolation threshold of rGO is 0.22 vol %. Results of EMI shielding test confirmed the synergistic effect between CNT and rGO. The EMI SE of the composite filled by 2.1 vol % CNT and 3.35 vol % rGO can achieve 26 dB in 8.2− 12.4 GHz (X band), which exceeds the basic requirement for commercial application (20 dB). Its reflectance coefficient (19–41%) indicates that the most part of incident electromagnetic (EM) wave energy is attenuated through absorption mechanism. This kind of absorptive EMI shielding material can be applied without serious secondary EM radiation pollution problems. The effects of filler content, molding temperature on EMI SE, and shielding mechanism were also investigated. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2020 , 137, 48542.  相似文献

Considering the promising efficiency of composites, in the current study, a graphene oxide (GO)-magnetite-Prussian blue (PB) composite material was prepared. The composite exhibited electrical conductivity, magnetic permeability, and permittivity nature, and was evaluated using electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding studies. GO was developed by the Hummer's method, ferrite (Fe3O4) was incorporated by the sol-gel method, and PB was introduced in the mixture by an in-situ process. The fabricated samples were studied by X-ray diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy along with EMI shielding efficiency (SE) evaluation. The SE of ?71.66 dB of reflection losses was measured at a frequency of 1.5 MHz. The GO/Fe3O4/PB composite provided the best results for the detection in the 1–18 MHz frequency range because of its excellent electric and magnetic properties. The obtained results demonstrated that the GO/Fe3O4/PB composite has promising potential applications in EMI shielding.  相似文献

In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) micro-flower like morphology aluminum-doped molybdenum disulfide/reduced graphene oxide (Al@MoS2/rGO) nanohybrids have been developed using a simple and sensitive hydrothermal approach. Their electromagnetic (EM) parameters (permittivity, permeability) and microwave shielding parameters (S11, S12) have been analyzed and reported for the first time in the microwave frequency range of 8.0–12.0 GHz. It is interesting to note that the electrical conductivity of the nanohybrids increases with the doping concentration of Al-ions, whereas skin-depth has a reverse trend. The 12% Al@MoS2/rGO nanohybrid shows a higher total electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) value about SET ~33.38 dB, whereas undoped MoS2/rGO nanohybrid exhibits a lower value around ~17.07 dB at the same thin thickness. The higher doping concentration of Al-ion creates lattice distortion and crystal defects with high charge carrier mobility between multiple interfaces and at defective sites. Hence, the Al-doping into MoS2 lattice supported on the rGO surface can greatly enhance EM wave absorption and EMI SE value. The present work suggests that the 12% Al@MoS2/rGO nanohybrid can be treated as a good microwave absorbing and shielding material and useful in various techno-commercial devices.  相似文献

Composites with silica matrix and mixed filler of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and BaTiO3 powder were fabricated. Excellent uniform dispersion of MWCNTs can be obtained using a two-step mixing method. Both of the real and imaginary parts of complex permittivity increased with increasing MWCNT content and measured temperature. The electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding results showed that the absorption mechanism is the main contribution to the total EMI shielding effectiveness (SE). Compared with the EMI SE resulting from reflection, the absorption showed more dependence on the MWCNT content, measured temperature and frequency. The total EMI SE is greater than 20 dB at 25 °C and 50 dB at 600 °C in the whole frequency range of 12.4–18 GHz with a 1.5 mm composite thickness, which suggests that the MWCNT–BaTiO3/silica composites could be good candidates for the EMI shielding materials in the measured frequency and temperature region.  相似文献

ZrO2‐coated graphene oxide (GO)/SEBS(styrene‐ethylene‐butylene‐styrene)‐based nanocomposites were prepared for use as an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding material. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveals almost every individual GO is fully and homogeneously covered with uniform ZrO2. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) revealed increased ordering of ‐(CH2‐CH2)n segments in the poly(ethylene‐co‐1‐butene) block of the SEBS matrix in the case of SEBS/ZrO2‐coated graphene oxide composites than in the SEBS/pristine graphene oxide nanocomposite. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) proved better oxidation resistance of SEBS/ZrO2‐coated GO nanocomposite compared to that of SEBS/pristine GO nanocomposite. The present nanocomposites exhibited excellent EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) over X‐band (8.2 GHz–12.4 GHz) with EMI SE of 37.9 dB. J. VINYL ADDIT. Effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials have garnered substantial interest for their efficacy in attenuating electromagnetic wave energy, ensuring data confidentiality, ensuring the operational stability of fragile electronic systems. To begin, artificially cultured diatom frustules (DF)-derived porous silica (DFPS) skeletons were constructed as templates in this study. Porous ceramics hot-pressed at 800 °C displayed a high compressive strength with a high specific surface area due to their three-dimensional (3D) multilayered and porous structures. Then, mechanically robust Ti3C2Tx/DFPS composites with exceptional EMI shielding performance were fabricated by immersing porous DF-based ceramics into Ti3C2Tx solutions and annealing in an argon environment to increase the materials’ shielding efficiency (SE). The EMI SE of composites hot-pressed at 800 °C achieved the maximum EMI SE of 43.2 dB in the X-band and a compressive strength of 67.5 MPa, establishing a hitherto unreported balance of mechanical characteristics and shielding performance. Prolonged transmission paths, multiple dissipation, scattering and reflection of electromagnetic energy were achieved using a well-maintained hierarchical porous silica framework decorated with MXene, with adsorption caused by surface MXene serving as the primary shielding mechanism for the composites. Due to their superior overall performance, MXene/DFPS EMI shielding composites have a bright future in the aircraft sector as delicate electronic device components.  相似文献

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/graphene and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/graphene nanocomposites were made by solution casting technique with graphene weight fractions of 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20%. Multilayer structures of the composites were made by hot compression technique to study their electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). Tensile strength, hardness, and storage modulus of the nanocomposites were studied in relation with graphene weight fraction. There has been a substantial increase in the electrical conductivity and EMI SE of the composites with 15–20% filler loading. Differential thermal analysis of the composites shows improved thermal stability with an increase in graphene loading. PMMA/graphene composites have better thermal stability, whereas PVC/graphene composites have superior mechanical properties. About 2 mm thick multilayer structures of PMMA/graphene and PVC/graphene composites show a maximum EMI SE of 21 dB and 31 dB, respectively, in the X band at 20 wt % graphene loading. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel polyaniline (PANI)/flowerlike CuS composites with improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) were prepared through the in situ polymerization of PANI into the flowerlike CuS microspheres. X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible optical absorption spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, electrical conductivity testing, and EMI SE testing were used to characterize the as‐obtained products. The results reveal that the flowerlike CuS was uniformly coated by a PANI shell. Most importantly, compared with the original CuS and pure PANI, the novel PANI/flowerlike CuS composites exhibited a remarkably enhanced SE. With a thickness of 3 mm, the optimal EMI SE of the PANI–CuS composites reached ?45.2 dB at 2.78 GHz, and an improved shielding efficiency below ?18 dB was also obtained over the frequency range from 300 kHz to 3 GHz. This suggested that these novel PANI/flowerlike CuS composites have promising applications in the field of shielding materials. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. The evaluation and optimization of EMW absorbing properties have been widely studied, but little research focused on EMI shielding properties predicted by complex permittivity. Based on the transmission-line theory, shielding effectiveness (SE) of a dielectric composite was evaluated by the reflection coefficient (Г) and transmission coefficient (T) which were calculated by the complex permittivity. SiCf/SiCN composites containing different content of CVI SiCN matrix are attractive for their tunable dielectric properties, which may vary from EMW absorption to EMI shielding. Therefore, SiCf/SiCN composites are typical dielectric composites used for experimental verification, and the results indicate that the dielectric composites without CVI SiCN phase have good EMW absorbing properties, while they exhibit good EMI shielding effectiveness with CVI SiCN phase. This work builds a relationship between the EMI shielding effectiveness and the complex permittivity, and obtains the optimized complex permittivity for excellent EMI shielding effectiveness.  相似文献

A novel nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)/magnetite (Fe3O4) nanocomposite for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding at microwave frequency was successfully fabricated. The structural features of as-synthesized magnetite and NBR/Fe3O4 were examined by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The number of elastically effective chains, volume fraction of rubber, interparticle distance among conductive sites, polymer–filler interaction, and porosity of the nanocomposites were evaluated. The mechanical properties, including the tensile strength, elongation at break, and hardness, of the composites were measured. The static electrical properties, such as the electrical conductivity, carrier mobility, and number of charge carriers, as a function of magnetite content were evaluated. The interrelation between the electrical conductivity, shielding effectiveness (SE), dielectric constant, and skin depth of the composites are discussed. Finally, the EMI SE versus frequency was tested. The results reveal that an SE of 28–91 dB against EMI in the 1–12 GHz range depended on the loading of the conducting magnetite within the NBR matrix. Accordingly, these nanocomposites may used in the field of microwave absorption devices. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献

An efficient electromagnetic shielding composite based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-filled styrene acrylic emulsion-based polymer has been prepared in a water-based system. The MWCNTs were demonstrated to have an effect on the dielectric constants, which effectively enhance electromagnetic shielding efficiency (SE) of the composites. A low conductivity threshold of 0.23 wt% can be obtained. An EMI SE of ~28 dB was achieved for 20 wt% MWCNTs. The AC conductivity (σ ac) of the composites, deduced from imaginary permittivity, was used to estimate the SE of the composites in X band (8.2–12.4 GHz), showing a good agreement with the measured results.  相似文献

CuxCo1-xFe2O4 (x = 0.33, 0.67, 1)-reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) nanocomposites exhibiting highly efficient electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding were prepared by a melt-mixing approach using a microcompounder. Spinel ferrite Cu0.33Co0.67Fe2O4 (CuCoF1), Cu0.67Co0.33Fe2O4 (CuCoF2) and CuFe2O4 (CuF3) nanoparticles were synthesized using the sonochemical method. The CuCoF1 and CuCoF2 exhibited typical ferromagnetic features, whereas CuF3 displayed superparamagnetic characteristics. The maximum value of EMI total shielding effectiveness (SET) was noticed to be 42.9 dB, 46.2 dB, and 58.8 dB for CuCoF1-rGO-TPU, CuCoF2-rGO-TPU, and CuF3-rGO-TPU nanocomposites, respectively, at a thickness of 1 mm. The highly efficient EMI shielding performance was attributed to the good impedance matching, conductive, dielectric, and magnetic loss. The demonstrated nanocomposites are promising candidates for a lightweight, flexible, and highly efficient EMI shielding material.  相似文献

Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/portland cement(PC) composites have been fabricated to evaluate their electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE). The results show that they can be used for the shielding of EMI in the microwave range. The incorporation of 15 wt.% MWCNTs in the PC matrix produces a SE more than 27 dB in X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz), and this SE is found to be dominated by absorption. Furthermore, the structural analysis, surface morphology and surface interaction of MWCNTs with PC matrix have been explored using XRD, SEM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy technique.  相似文献

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of multi-walled carbon nanotubes–polymethyl methacrylate (MWCNT–PMMA) composites prepared by two different techniques was measured. EMI SE up to 40 dB in the frequency range 8.2–12.4 GHz (X-band) was achieved by stacking seven layers of 0.3-mm thick MWCNT–PMMA composite films compared with 30 dB achieved by stacking two layers of 1.1-mm thick MWCNT–PMMA bulk composite. The characteristic EMI SE graphs of the composites and the mechanism of shielding have been discussed. SE in this frequency range is found to be dominated by absorption. The mechanical properties (tensile, flexural strength and modulus) of the composites were found to be comparable or better than the pure polymer. The studies therefore show that the composite can be used as structurally strong EMI shielding material.  相似文献
