This paper is concerned with the development of a continuous strip-casting technology to facilitate the manufacture of magnesium sheet alloys economically whilst maintaining high quality. Established in the paper is warm formability of cast magnesium alloy sheets after being hot rolled by semi-solid roll strip-casting process. It has been found that magnesium sheet with 2.0–4.0 mm thickness could be produced at a speed of 25 m/min. Hot rolling and annealing temperatures during hot rolling were also changed to examine which condition would be appropriate for producing wrought magnesium alloys with good formability. Microstructures of the crystals of the manufactured wrought magnesium alloys were observed. It has been found that a limiting drawing ratio of 2.7 was possible in a warm deep-drawing test of the cast magnesium alloy sheets after being hot rolled. 相似文献

The processing of continuously cast low carbon steel grades for enameling usually requires a high coiling temperature. Low-temperature
coiling, however, is required to ensure deep drawability. A steel composition characterized by low AIN leads to a material
combining both good formability and enamelability ratio for hot strip coiling temperatures in the range of 600 to 700 °C.
The influence of the coiling temperature on the mechanical properties, cementite morphology, H permeation, and enamel adhesion

A twin-roll cast (TRC) AZ31-0.7Ca alloy sheet has been subjected to thermo-mechanical treatment (TMT) followed by annealing
and its microstructure was evaluated. The as-cast microstructure of TRC AZ31-0.7Ca alloy is essentially similar to that of
TRC AZ31 alloy, except for the presence of Al2Ca dispersoid particles. The presence of Al2Ca particles imparts significant changes to the microstructure of TMT-ed TRC alloy such as the refinement of grain size and

Much effort recently has been expended to study the strip casting process used to produce thin metal strip with a near final
thickness. This process eliminates the need for hot rolling, consumes less energy, and offers a feasible method of producing
various hard-to-shape alloys. The finer microstructure that results from the high cooling rate used during the casting process
enhances mechanical properties. In this study, strips of phosphor bronzes (Cu-Sn-P) metal were produced using a twin roll
strip casting process as well as a conventional horizontal continuous casting (HCC) process. The microstructures, macrosegregations,
textures, and mechanical properties of the as-cast and as-rolled metal sheet produced by these two methods were examined carefully
for comparative purposes. The results indicate that cast strip produced by a twin roll caster exhibit significantly less inverse
segregation of tin compared to that produced by the HCC process. The mechanical properties including tensile strength, elongation,
and microhardness of the products produced by the twin roll strip casting process are comparable to those of the HCC processed
sheet. These properties meet specifications JIS H3110 and ASTM B 103M for commercial phosphor bronze sheet. The texture of
the as-rolled sheet from these two processes, as measured from XRD pole figures, were found to be virtually the same, even
though a significant difference exists between them in the as-cast condition. 相似文献

High-pressure die cast magnesium alloy AM50 is currently used extensively in large and complex shaped thin-wall automotive
components. For further expansion of the alloy usage in automobiles, novelmanufacturing processes need to be developed. In
this study, squeeze casting of AM50 alloy with a relatively thick cross section was carried out using a hydraulic press with
an applied pressure of 70 MPa. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the squeeze cast AM50 with a cross-section thickness
of 10 mm were characterized in comparison with the die cast counterpart. The squeeze cast AM50 alloy exhibits virtually no
porosity in the microstructure as evaluated by both optical microscopy and the density measurement technique. The results
of tensile testing indicate the improved tensile properties, specifically ultimate tensile strength and elongation, for the
squeeze cast samples over the conventional high-pressure die cast parts. The analysis of tensile behavior show that the strain-hardening
rate during the plastic deformation of the squeeze cast specimens is constantly higher than that of the die cast specimens.
The scanning electron microscopy fractography evidently reveals the ductile fracture features of the squeeze cast alloy AM50. 相似文献

A study on electro-slag cast steel has been performed to assess the feasibility of its use in hot-working tools in place of
traditional forged steels. In this study, some important material properties that are essential for the proper performance
of hot-working tool steels have been measured. The properties of the electro-slag cast steel are compared with those of hot-working
tool steels currently used in industrial practices. The use of electro-slag cast steel in specific applications has been evaluated
and compared with the operational performance of currently used steels in industrial environments. The wear resistance, impact
toughness, thermal fatigue resistance, and repair weldability of electro-slag cast steel have been determined. The material
properties were found to be comparable to existing hot-working tool steels. The number of effective blows obtained from an
industrial application test also confirms that electro-slag cast steel is a feasible material for hot-working tools. 相似文献

硬镍合金铸铁是一种良好的抗磨材料,但由于其碳化物呈网状和组织粗大,使其韧性低和性能不够稳定。为此,研究了稀土变质处理对硬镍合金铸铁组织和性能的影响。试验结果表明,稀土变质处理,可使硬镍舍金铸铁的碳化物呈块状或片状,组织得到明显细化与均匀化,并增加马氏体含量。因此,稀土硬镍合金铸铁具有良好的综合机械性能和较高的抗冲蚀磨损性能,具有广阔的应用前景。 相似文献
