Modular design is an important elemental technique in life cycle design for improving, e.g., maintainability, upgradability, reusability, and recyclability. Appropriate modular structure differs according to applied life cycle options; e.g., while the modular structure for recycling should be based on material kinds, the structure for upgrading should be based on functions to be obsolete. This paper proposes a method for determining modular structure by aggregating various attributes related to a product life cycle and evaluating geometric feasibility of modules. This paper also illustrates the prototype system that implements the proposed method and a case study of a printer. 相似文献

This paper proposes ISCL, Integrated Service CAD and Life cycle simulator. ISCL plays the role of CAD/CAE tools for product design in Product Service Systems (PSSs) design. In ISCL, the service CAD supports systematic generation of alternative PSSs based on service modeling, and the life cycle simulator analyzes their economic and environmental performances. The current study applies ISCL to the design of a PSS that includes functional upgrading service of a product, whose life cycle costs are sensitive to both its functional obsolescence and physical deterioration. This paper is a part of a series in which the goal is to provide users with calculation tools to estimate the energy use and mass loss of one unit process in a full manufacturing line. It is known as a unit process life cycle inventory (UPLCI). As such, this information is reusable in a wide range of products made of different materials. Grinding is the first UPLCI in this series, which is in the mass reduction category of the taxonomy of manufacturing processes. The energy calculations are not limited to the active or tip grinding energy, but include idle and basic energy values. In addition, an example calculation is provided to assist the UPLCI reader. System architecting in mechatronic systems design is a crucial task to define physical and logical configurations of subsystems and components that realize desired functions and behaviors. Particularly, it is crucial to consider sensor-actuator configurations that control the quality of desired functions. The paper proposes a computer-based tool based on extended Function-Behavior-State (FBS) modeling method that incorporates visualization of geometric information and introduction of an interval-temporal logic.
