The fracture edge of a strip of regenerated cellulose film broken under tension can usually be divided into three regions: (A) the site of the initial failure, (B) the slow-tear region, and (C) the fast-tear region. Photomicrographs showing these regions are presented and discussed. The failure of the metallic nanowire has raised concerns due to its applied reliability in nanoelectromechanical system. In this article, the breaking failure is studied for the [100], [110], and [111] single-crystal copper nanowires at different strain rates. The statistical breaking position distributions of the nanowires have been investigated to give the effects of strain rate and crystallographic orientation on micro-atomic fluctuation in the symmetric stretching of the nanowires. When the strain rate is less than 0.26% ps-1, macro-breaking position distributions exhibit the anisotropy of micro-atomic fluctuation. However, when the strain rate is larger than 3.54% ps-1, the anisotropy is not obvious because of strong symmetric shocks.  相似文献

The thermodynamic fusion theory of strength of perfect polymer fibers of finite molecular weight is extended to include imperfect (i.e. real) fibers of incomplete crystallinity and orientation. Approximate equations for failure strength, strain, and work of failure are derived by extracting from the real visco-elastic fiber an equivalent reversible component suitable for thermodynamic analysis. This is facilitated by an explicit relationship between fiber breaking stress, σ*, and breaking strain, *, which is shown to be σ*=0.632K* (K=modulus) for constant strain-rate deformations. It is shown that fiber breaking time is equivalent to the fiber visco-elastic mechanical relaxation time. Experimental data shows that the activation energy of rupture of polyethylene fibers is not the activation energy of covalent bond rupture. Instead it agrees with the activation energy expected of crystal melting in accordance with the fusion theory of rupture. The activation volume of the polyethylene fibers also agrees with the value expected from this theory.  相似文献

通过对多壁碳纳米管(MWCNT)和氮化铝(AlN)颗粒进行不同的改性,提高其分散性以及与聚偏氟乙烯(PVDF)基体的界面相容性,降低界面热阻。通过溶液共混后再用热压法将填料与基体的混合物压制成致密的薄膜,提高PVDF的导热性能。TEM测试证明改性后的填料分散性能提高,SEM证明两种填料成功地在PVDF基体中构成三维杂化网络结构。当填料含量50%时,a-AlN-PVDF复合薄膜的热导率达到原膜的300%、断裂强度变为原膜的92%。当MWCNT与AlN的体积比为1∶1、改性混合填料的质量分数为50%时,热导率变为原膜的565%,断裂强度变为原来的51%。  相似文献

This paper examines the feasibility of using the Acousto-Ultrasonics (AU), nondestructive technique, for assuring the quality of adhesively bonded sheet-metal used for automobiles. Kissing bonds or regions lacking adhesive were easily identified by this technique. A bond quality (BQ) model is introduced that takes into account the mixed mode failure. Destructive testing results showing fairly consistent correlation of BQ values with the breaking strength of the adhesive joint failing in mixed mode failure are presented.  相似文献

以PAN基针刺纤维毡为基体,采用等温化学气相渗透技术,在温度1000℃、压力5.0~20.0 kPa条件下制备了2种具有不同微观结构热解炭的炭/炭复合材料,研究了其力学性能与热解炭微观结构的关系. 结果表明,压力8.0 kPa下得到的具有单一低织构热解炭的炭/炭复合材料的断裂强度较高,为86±3 MPa,热解炭与炭纤维间界面结合紧密,加载过程中二者同时断裂,呈现明显的脆性断裂行为;压力10.0~20.0 kPa下得到的具有中织构-高织构-中织构热解炭的炭/炭复合材料的断裂强度稍低,为82±4 MPa,加载过程中材料内部不同织构热解炭间多层次界面通过改变裂纹扩展路径而延缓其扩展速度,断口形貌呈现锯齿状,表现出假塑性断裂特征.  相似文献
