This paper studies a periodic review dynamic pricing and inventory control problem with fixed ordering cost included. Demand is uncertain and price-sensitive in a general form. At the end of each period, all unmet demand is lost. We focus on the optimization and optimality of an (s, S, p)-type policy, which operates as follows: whenever the inventory level is less than or equal to s, an order is placed to order-up-to level S; when the inventory level is larger than s, no order is issued; the price p is specified by the inventory level. We further numerically investigate the optimal solutions and their sensitivity to cost parameters and demand uncertainty.  相似文献

Optimization of maintenance policy using the proportional hazard model   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The evolution of system reliability depends on its structure as well as on the evolution of its components reliability. The latter is a function of component age during a system's operating life. Component aging is strongly affected by maintenance activities performed on the system. In this work, we consider two categories of maintenance activities: corrective maintenance (CM) and preventive maintenance (PM). Maintenance actions are characterized by their ability to reduce this age. PM consists of actions applied on components while they are operating, whereas CM actions occur when the component breaks down. In this paper, we expound a new method to integrate the effect of CM while planning for the PM policy. The proportional hazard function was used as a modeling tool for that purpose. Interesting results were obtained when comparison between policies that take into consideration the CM effect and those that do not is established.  相似文献

Internet of Everything (IoE) indicates a fantastic vision of the future, where everything is connected to the internet, providing intelligent services and facilitating decision making. IoE is the collection of static and moving objects able to coordinate and communicate with each other. The moving objects may consist of ground segments and flying segments. The speed of flying segment e.g., Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAVs) may high as compared to ground segment objects. The topology changes occur very frequently due to high speed nature of objects in UAV-enabled IoE (Ue-IoE). The routing maintenance overhead may increase when scaling the Ue-IoE (number of objects increases). A single change in topology can force all the objects of the Ue-IoE to update their routing tables. Similarly, the frequent updating in routing table entries will result more energy dissipation and the lifetime of the Ue-IoE may decrease. The objects consume more energy on routing computations. To prevent the frequent updation of routing tables associated with each object, the computation of routes from source to destination may be limited to optimum number of objects in the Ue-IoE. In this article, we propose a routing scheme in which the responsibility of route computation (from neighbor objects to destination) is assigned to some IoE-objects in the Ue-IoE. The route computation objects (RCO) are selected on the basis of certain parameters like remaining energy and mobility. The RCO send the routing information of destination objects to their neighbors once they want to communicate with other objects. The proposed protocol is simulated and the results show that it outperform state-of-the-art protocols in terms of average energy consumption, messages overhead, throughput, delay etc.  相似文献

Degradation tests are widely used to assess the reliability of highly reliable products which are not likely to fail under traditional life tests or accelerated life tests. However, for some highly reliable products, the degradation may be very slow and hence it is impossible to have a precise assessment within a reasonable amount of testing time. In such cases, an alternative is to use higher stresses to extrapolate the product's reliability at the design stress. This is called an accelerated degradation test (ADT). In conducting an ADT, several decision variables, such s the inspection frequency, sample size and termination time, at each stress level are influential on the experimental efficiency. An inappropriate choice of these decision variables not only wastes experimental resources but also reduces the precision of the estimation of the product's reliability at the use condition. The main purpose of this paper is to deal with the problem of designing an ADT. By using the criterion of minimizing the mean‐squared error of the estimated 100 th percentile of the product's lifetime distribution at the use condition subject to the constraint that the total experimental cost does not exceed a predetermined budget, a nonlinear integer programming problem is built to derive the optimal combination of the sample size, inspection frequency and the termination time at each stress level. The current and future status of the internet is represented by the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT). The internet can connect the huge amount of data, which contains lot of processing operations and efforts to transfer the pieces of information. The emerging IoT technology in which the smart ecosystem is enabled by the physical object fixed with software electronics, sensors and network connectivity. Nowadays, there are two trending technologies that take the platform i.e., Software Defined Network (SDN) and IoT (SD-IoT). The main aim of the IoT network is to connect and organize different objects with the internet, which is managed with the control panel and data panel in the SD network. The main issue and the challenging factors in this network are the increase in the delay and latency problem between the controllers. It is more significant for wide area networks, because of the large packet propagation latency and the controller placement problem is more important in every network. In the proposed work, IoT is implementing with adaptive fuzzy controller placement using the enhanced sunflower optimization (ESFO) algorithm and Pareto Optimal Controller placement tool (POCO) for the placement problem of the controller. In order to prove the efficiency of the proposed system, it is compared with other existing methods like PASIN, hybrid SD and PSO in terms of load balance, reduced number of controllers and average latency and delay. With 2 controllers, the proposed method obtains 400 miles as average latency, which is 22.2% smaller than PSO, 76.9% lesser than hybrid SD and 91.89% lesser than PASIN.  相似文献

A rate-distortion framework is used to define a very low-bit-rate coding scheme based on wireframe model adaptation and optimized selection of motion estimators. This technique achieves maximum reconstructed image quality under the constraint of a target bit rate for the coding of the vector field and the wireframe representation information. First, a complete scheme is proposed for hybrid two-dimensional (2D) and 3D motion estimation and compensation. The wireframe adaptation and updating is optimized for hybrid motion estimation in the rate distortion sense. A more sophisticated technique, adapted to the requirements of a very low-bit-rate coder is also proposed which considers also the transmission of the prediction error corresponding to the particular choice of the motion estimator for each object in the scene. Experimental results illustrating the performance of the proposed techniques in very low-bit-rate image sequence coding application areas are presented and evaluated. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a networking paradigm related to the intercommunication of vehicles using a network. In a dynamic network, one of the key challenges in IoV is traffic management under increasing vehicles to avoid congestion. Therefore, optimal path selection to route traffic between the origin and destination is vital. This research proposed a realistic strategy to reduce traffic management service response time by enabling real-time content distribution in IoV systems using heterogeneous network access. Firstly, this work proposed a novel use of the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm and formulated the path planning optimization problem as an Integer Linear Program (ILP). This integrates the future estimation metric to predict the future arrivals of the vehicles, searching the optimal routes. Considering the mobile nature of IOV, fuzzy logic is used for congestion level estimation along with the ACO to determine the optimal path. The model results indicate that the suggested scheme outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods by identifying the shortest and most cost-effective path. Thus, this work strongly supports its use in applications having stringent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for the vehicles.  相似文献

With the explosive advancements in wireless communications and digital electronics, some tiny devices, sensors, became a part of our daily life in numerous fields. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is composed of tiny sensor devices. WSNs have emerged as a key technology enabling the realization of the Internet of Things (IoT). In particular, the sensor-based revolution of WSN-based IoT has led to considerable technological growth in nearly all circles of our life such as smart cities, smart homes, smart healthcare, security applications, environmental monitoring, etc. However, the limitations of energy, communication range, and computational resources are bottlenecks to the widespread applications of this technology. In order to tackle these issues, in this paper, we propose an Energy-efficient Transmission Range Optimized Model for IoT (ETROMI), which can optimize the transmission range of the sensor nodes to curb the hot-spot problem occurring in multi-hop communication. In particular, we maximize the transmission range by employing linear programming to alleviate the sensor nodes’ energy consumption and considerably enhance the network longevity compared to that achievable using state-of-the-art algorithms. Through extensive simulation results, we demonstrate the superiority of the proposed model. ETROMI is expected to be extensively used for various smart city, smart home, and smart healthcare applications in which the transmission range of the sensor nodes is a key concern.  相似文献

The behavior of electromigration-induced stress in Al-1.0% Si-0.5% Cu alloy interconnections was investigated in situ by synchrotron radiation at the SPring-8. The electromigration tests were performed as a function of applied current density. When the current was applied to the lines, 111 diffraction peak shifted to lower angle for all measurement points. This indicated that compressive stresses were present at all measurement positions in the lines. When the applied current was stopped, 111 diffraction peak reverted to its initial position for all measurement points. At constant current density, the position of 111 diffraction peak didn't change for any of the measurement positions.  相似文献

We present results from a system that shows that multimode fibers can be used for both the input and the output of a free-space optical system. The system consists of plastic microlenses integrated with plastic optomechanical components that are suitable for low-cost fabrication and assembly. Such a system opens up opportunities to construct large repeaters and switches for multigigabit ethernet applications by integration with two-dimensional arrays of optoelectronic devices. We demonstrate a 2.5-Gbit/s transmission rate by using commercial vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers coupled to 62.5-mum core fibers. We consider the design constraints and the capabilities of custom optical modules suitable for mass production.  相似文献

A space-variant optical interconnection through the use of computer-generated holograms is proposed, and specific configurations to increase the number of parallel channels are analyzed. To this end, the well-known method based on a matrix composed of subholograms is applied. The field diffracted by each channel (assumed to be square apertures) is calculated through the angular-spectrum technique, and the resulting fields are suitably superimposed to obtain a hologram matrix with a reduced bandwidth. Results show that a compact transmissive planar configuration can be handled; in particular, the small interconnect distance between the array planes and the hologram yields a limited system volume.  相似文献

Nondestructive analysis (NDA) is one of the most important tasks that is performed during the industrial characterization of integrated circuits (ICs) because even a tiny defect or failure in the IC packages could be disastrous from the standpoint of quality control. To detect an interconnection failure in IC packages, a time-domain reflectometry (TDR) analysis system was developed. An open-end fixture (OEF) was employed to detect the rapid rise of edge signals from the package and to monitor them under the two parameters of time interval and reflection voltage. We developed a simple and effective electrical NDA system based on the TDR technology that can evaluate the interconnection of ball grid array (BGA) packages. The TDR-measurement results can determine both the failure location and type based on the aforementioned parameters for a two-die BGA package.  相似文献
