We report on a widely tunable, diode-pumped, continuous-wave, single-frequency Cr(3+):LiSrAlF(6) laser with a novel double-ring cavity configuration. The optical diode and the tuning element were located in the ring subcavity to decrease their insertion loss. Using an 1800-lines/mm grating as the tuning element, we obtained a laser emission of 20-mW output power at 870 nm and a tuning range of from 800 to 936 nm. When we used a 1200-lines/mm grating with a higher diffraction efficiency, the laser had a slightly wider tuning range of from 800 to 938 nm. However, the output power decreased at this tuning range.  相似文献

We present the working characteristics of a continuous UV lamp emitting at λ=206 nm, pumped by a longitudinal glow discharge. The pressure of the working Xe-I2 gas-vapor mixture was within 0.1–10 kPa. The power deposited in the discharge was varied within 10–130 W. The current-voltage characteristics, the emission spectra in a 200–600 nm wavelength range, the line emission intensity as a function of the power deposited in the discharge plasma, and the partial pressure of xenon in the lamp were studied. It is established that the lamp operates in the range of 206–342 nm on a resonance line of iodine at 206 nm and on the bands at 253 nm [XeI(B-X)] and 342 nm [I2(B-X)]. Not less than half of the output UV emission power is concentrated in the bactericidal spectral interval (around λ=206 nm). The total UV emission power of the lamp reaches 6–7 W at an efficiency of ≤5%.  相似文献

We report the optical parametric properties of cesium lithium borate (CLBO) crystals pumped by UV radiation of the fourth-harmonic generation at 266 nm and the third-harmonic generation at 355 nm of a picosecond Nd:YAG laser. A special optical design was used to avoid damage to the optical elements by the UV-pumped beam at 266 nm. The optical parametric generator (OPG)/optical parametric amplifier (OPA) of the 266-nm-pumped CLBO covers the tuning range from 347 nm in the UV to 1137 nm in the near IR. The 355-nm-pumped CLBO OPG/OPA, on the other hand, is tunable from 447 to 1725 nm. The experimental tuning curves for each CLBO OPG/OPA were measured and compared with the theoretical tuning curves. With a double-pass OPG configuration and a pumping intensity of approximately 6 GW/cm2, the maximum conversion efficiency, including both the signal and the idler, was approximately 11% for the 266-nm-pumped CLBO and is greater than 16% for the 355-nm-pumped CLBO without taking into account the surface losses from the uncoated elements. The bandwidth of this double-pass CLBO OPG at various wavelengths was measured and compared with other optical parametric systems. Because of the small angular dispersion of CLBO, the bandwidth of the OPG and OPA systems is exceptionally narrow, especially for the 266-nm-pumped system. Without the use of any dispersion element, the bandwidth of the 266-nm-pumped system can be as narrow as 0.22 nm at wavelengths far from the degenerate point. Comparison between the experimental bandwidth and the theoretical calculation shows that the bandwidth of the UV-pumped CLBO OPG/OPA is limited mainly by the divergence of the pump beam.  相似文献

We constructed a cw Ti:Al(2)O(3) master oscillator-dye preamplifier-Ti:Al(2)O(3) power amplifier system that generates <2-ns, 100-mJ pulses. The system is tunable from 750 to 890 nm and has a repetition rate of 30 Hz. The output pulse has a near Fourier-transform-limited bandwidth of ~240 MHz. Backward stimulated Brillouin scattering is used to control the growth of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). The content of ASE in the final output is under our detection limit (<10(-4)) for the entire tuning range.  相似文献

Abstract

A diode-pumped, all-solid-state, high pulse repetition rate, tunable source of UV radiation is presented. The system is compact, has low power requirements and is suitable for the in situ monitoring of important atmospheric species from an airborne platform. At 3 kHz pulse repetition rate, up to 0.42 ± 0.02 mW of UV radiation was generated and the tuning range extended from ~282 nm to 292 nm. The bandwidth was ≤0.6nm and each pulse had a FWHM duration of 16.0 ± 1.4 ns. The stability of the output was 13% pulse-to-pulse and 4% for an average power measurement. The performance of the system is compared to theoretical expectations.  相似文献

We propose and implement a common external cavity to narrow spectral linewidth of two broad-area laser diode arrays (LDAs) and align their center wavelengths. The locked center wavelength of two LDAs can be tuned in the range of ~10 nm by tuning the tilted angle of the diffraction grating. The output beams of two LDAs are spatially overlapped through the polarization beam splitter of the common external cavity, and the total output power equals the power of two LDAs. The center wavelength of each LDA can be independently tuned by shifting the corresponding fast-axis collimation lens. As a result, the high-power two-color LDA operation is demonstrated with the tunable wavelength difference of up to 2 nm (~1 THz).  相似文献

We present the working characteristics of a high-power UV-VUV electric-discharge lamp filled with a working mixture of helium and iodine vapor (He-I2) at a low pressure (0.1–1.5 kPa) and pumped by a dc glow discharge at a power of 15–200 W. The power of the total output UV radiation and the main emission peak at λ = 206.2 nm were studied as dependent on the electric power supplied to the glow discharge and on the partial pressure of helium in the He-I2 mixture. The emission characteristics of the glow discharge plasma were studied in the spectral range from 200 to 350 nm. In this range, the lamp is operating predominantly on a resonance emission line of excited iodine atoms (λ = 206.2 nm, FWHM = 0.10–0.12 nm) and on a system of electronic-vibrational bands of excited iodine molecules with the main peak at λ = 342 nm. The contribution of the resonance emission due to excited iodine atoms to the total UV emission from the glow discharge plasma does not exceed 50%. The optimum partial pressure of helium is within 400–800 Pa. The total UV radiation power of the lamp operating in the optimum regime reaches 25 W at an efficiency of η ≤15%.  相似文献

We report on an efficient use of CsLiB(6)O(10) (CLBO) crystals employed for an all-solid-state deep-UV laser system operated at 5 kHz. We obtained greater than 3 W of UV radiation around 242 nm by mixing the 349-nm third harmonic of a Nd:YLF laser with the tunable output from a Ti:sapphire laser in a CLBO crystal. This UV radiation was subsequently mixed with the residual 1047-nm output from the Nd:YLF laser in a second CLBO crystal. The system produced 1.5 W of deep-UV radiation at 196.3 nm, which is, to our knowledge, the highest deep-UV power below 200 nm generated in a nonlinear optical crystal. Additionally, the bandwidth of both outputs was estimated to be less than 200 MHz.  相似文献

A tunable fiber ring laser based on an in-line two-taper Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) filter was realized, and the effect of beam waists of the tapers on performance of the laser was investigated with different beam waists of 70 μm, 49 μm, and 33 μm. Experimental results show that the tunable laser with MZI length of 1 m and beam waist of 49 μm can cover 16.1 nm with tuning steps of 0.07-0.5 nm, a bandwidth of 10 pm, and a side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) of 40-50 dB. Tuning range is not only determined by the number of the cladding modes but is also affected by the filter loss. Tuning step is determined by the differences of the effective refractive indexes between the cladding modes and the core mode. SMSR is determined by the balance between the extinction ratio of the filter and the cavity loss of the laser due to MZI filter.  相似文献

A graphene-based Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) with a tunable fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) acting as a wavelength tuning mechanism is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed setup utilizes a newly-developed ‘ferrule-to-ferrule transfer’ technique to obtain a single graphene layer that allows for Q-switch operation in the EDFL using a highly doped-gain medium. A TFBG is used as a wavelength tuning mechanism with a tuning range of 10 nm, covering the wavelength range from 1547.66 nm to 1557.66 nm. The system has a wide repetition rate range of over 206.613 kHz from 1.387 kHz to 208.000 kHz with pulse durations of between 94.80 μs to 0.412 μs. The laser output is dependent on the pump power, with energy per pulse of 4.56 nJ to 16.26 nJ. The system is stable, with power and wavelength variations of less than 0.47 dBm and 0.067 nm. The output pulse train is free from self-mode locking and pulse jitters.  相似文献

The design and operating parameters of a novel multi-contact quantum dot superluminescent diode incorporating a number of features which inhibit lasing are described and compared with that of a single-contact device. Such devices allow the independent tuning of emission power and spectral shape; hence the penetration depth and resolution in optical coherence tomography are decoupled. The emission spectrum of a device utilising chirped quantum dots is shown to be tuned to produce a broadband single Gaussian emission, centred at the required wavelength of 1050 nm, at higher output powers than a singlecontact device.  相似文献

A two-port polarization-independent tunable spectral slicing filter at the 1530?nm wavelength regime is presented. The design utilizes an asymmetric interferometer with a sparse index grating along its arms. The sparse grating makes it possible to select equally spaced frequency channels from an incident WDM signal and to place nulls between them to coincide with the signal comb frequency. The number of selected channels and nulls between them depends on the number of coupling regions used in the sparse grating. The free spectral range depends on the spacing between the coupling regions. The Z-transform method is used to synthesize the filter and determine the spectral response. The operation of a device with six coupling regions is demonstrated, and good agreement with theoretical predictions is obtained. A 3?dB bandwidth of ~1?nm and thermal tuning over a range of ~13?nm are measured.  相似文献

激光波长作为“米”基准的重要实现途径之一,其量值准确性在计量校准、精密测量以及光谱探测等领域具有十分重要的意义。目前基于标准物质吸收谱线的波长基准仅能用于单一波长的计量校准,对于宽带光源波长校准手段有限。本文开展宽带连续调谐激光波长校准技术研究,利用飞秒激光频率梳宽光谱、光频可溯源至原子频率标准、稳定性高的特点,对宽带调谐光源在调谐输出时的连续光波长进行测量,最终实现了1 nm带宽下可调谐激光器调谐输出过程中瞬时值的测量,并利用该结果对可调谐激光器在121 GHz带宽的调频非线性度进行了评价。  相似文献

We report a high-power tunable narrow-bandwidth Ti:sapphire laser at a repetition rate of 1?kHz. The spectral linewidth of 0.4?pm with wavelength tuning range from 780?nm to 820?nm is obtained by a spectrum-compressing technique that consists of one grating and four fused silica prisms in the oscillator cavity. This narrow-bandwidth seed from the oscillator is further amplified to 6.5?W with pulse duration of 16?ns under the pumper power of 22?W. This high-power laser with narrow linewidth is candidate for isotope separation and accuracy spectrum analysis.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We demonstrate a pulse-duration tunable Tm3+-doped pulsed all-fiber master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) operating at a central wavelength of 1908 nm. By using acousto-optic(AO) external modulation, the amplified laser pulse shows a tuning range having pulse durations from 66.5 ns to 8.0 μs and a repetition rate of 100 kHz-2 MHz. The laser achieved a maximum average power of 28.1 W and a corresponding energy of 28.1 μJ at 1MHz with a 3 dB linewidth of 0.63 nm and a beam quality factor of Mx2=1.25 and My2=1.32. The ASE suppression ratio is 50 dB and the corresponding total amplifier gain is 27.5 dB. To the best of our knowledge, it is the highest average output power and slope efficiency (~51.0%) achieved using AO external modulation in a Tm3+-doped pulsed fiber amplifier.  相似文献

A fast tunable filtering technique is proposed associating a diffraction grating with an intracavity Bragg grating. The bandwidth and the tuning range of this filter can be easily adapted by changing the diffraction grating's orientation, or its period, and its response is uniform over the whole tuning range. A numerical simulation of the filter response to a Gaussian beam has been developed, and it fits the experimental results allowing a calculation of the performances that could be obtained with more specific elements. For example, using a commercial acousto-optic deflector would allow a separation of 500 frequencies. It would then be possible to have a tuning range of 100 nm with a bandwidth of 0.2 nm for optical telecommunications.  相似文献

We report on the optimized characteristics of a small-size bactericidal lamp pumped by transverse RF (f=1.76 MHz) discharge, operating on a system of the molecular emission bands of chlorine in a wavelength range of 195–310 nm. The spectral characteristics of the plasma emission were measured and the intensity of chlorine emission bands were studied as functions of the total pressure and partial composition of a helium-chlorine mixture. Oscillograms of the pumping current and output radiation intensity were measured and the total output radiation power was determined. It is established that the lamp radiates predominantly in a bactericidal wavelength interval on an electron-vibrational transition at 200 nm in Cl2** molecules. The optimum partial pressures of helium and chlorine are 100–300 and 90–120 Pa, respectively. The maximum output power of UV emission from the side cylindrical surface of the lamp reached 10 W. The lamp can be used in photochemistry, ecology, genetics, and medicine.  相似文献

We report a high-efficiency continuously tunable single-frequency doubly resonant optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on periodically poled KTiOPO4. Pumped by a frequency-doubled Nd:YLF laser at 526.5 nm, the OPO has a low threshold of 30 mW and can deliver up to 156 mW single-frequency output at 0.8 μm and 89 mW single-frequency output at 1.5 μm with 390 mW of pump power. Coarse and continuous frequency tuning are also demonstrated experimentally.  相似文献

This paper presents the design and analysis of a Si-based tunable flattop photodetector realized by the introduction of a stepped Fabry-Perot cavity, which can be thermally tuned via applying tuning power on its tuning electrode. By using a transfer matrix method, the spectral response of the photodetector is simulated in detail, indicating a flattop line shape can be achieved with an optimum step height. A trade-off residing in this device between the free spectrum range and the ease of fabrication of step height is also revealed and analyzed. In the final design of the photodetector, 1 dB linewidth of 0.5 nm, 3 dB linewidth of 0.8 nm, 6 dB linewidth of 1.2 nm, peak quantum efficiency of 40%, tuning efficiency of 91 mW/nm are theoretically obtained. We discuss the epitaxial growth and fabrication of the photodetector in the end, exhibiting the mature technique available for this device.  相似文献
