We studied the effects of goat and cow milk fat on the digestive utilization of this nutrient and on some of the biochemical parameters that are related to the metabolisim of lipids, using rats with a resection of 50% of the distal small intestine and control animals (transected). The fat content in all the diets was 10% but the lipid quality was varied: the standard diet was based on olive oil, while the other two diets included fat obtained from lyophilized goat milk and cow milk, respectively. The digestive utilization of the fat was lower in the resected animals than in the transected ones for all three diets studied. In both resected and transected animals. the apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC) of the fat was greater with the standard diet (olive oil) than with diets whose fat content was provided by goat or cow milk. The digestive utilization of the fat was greater in the transected and resected rats receiving a diet of goat's milk (rich in medium-chain triglycerides) than those given a cow-milk-based diet and more closely approached the values obtained for olive oil. The consumption of goat milk reduced levels of cholesterol while levels of triglycerides, HDL, GOT and GPT remained with in the normal ranges, for both transected and resected animals. The advantageous effect of goat milk on the metabolisim of lipids with respect to cow milk suggests that the former should be included in the diet in eases of malabsorption snydrome. 相似文献

Eight multiparous and 8 primiparous Holstein cows were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design with 4-wk periods to determine the effects on dairy cow performance of feeding corn germ (CG) compared with dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) or corn oil (CO). Four isolipidic dietary treatments were formulated: a control diet, a 14% corn germ diet (CGD), a 30% dry distillers grains with solubles diet (DGD), and a 2.5% corn oil diet (COD). All diets were formulated to contain 6.0% fat, with the fat in the control diet provided by a ruminally inert fat source. Dry matter intake was decreased by feeding the COD compared with the CGD; however, no difference in dry matter intake was observed among the control diet, the DGD, and the COD. Dietary treatments had no effect on milk yield, energy-corrected milk, or 4% fat-corrected milk. Feeding CG had no effect on milk fat percentage when compared with the control diet; however, milk fat percentage tended to decrease with DDGS and decreased with CO when compared with the CGD. Milk protein percentage decreased when cows were fed the COD compared with the control diet. Feeding CO tended to decrease milk fat yield compared with CG; however, dietary treatments had no effect on milk protein and lactose yield. Feed efficiency was not affected by dietary treatments and averaged 1.55 kg of energy-corrected milk/kg of dry matter intake. Feeding DDGS and CO increased the concentration of vaccenic and conjugated linoleic acid in milk fat. Concentrations of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in milk were increased in response to feeding the 3 corn coproducts. Fat from CG appears to be relatively protected in the rumen when compared with that from DDGS and CO and therefore will not affect the production of milk fat to the degree of the more available fat in DDGS and CO. 相似文献

Blends of anhydrous milk fat (AMF) and canola oil (CO) were cooled from 35 to 5°C at 0.1°C/min, held for 24 h, and centrifuged to separate the liquid and crystalline fractions. The blends’ crystallization behaviors and microstructures depended on the level of CO present. Onset and half times of crystallization reflected a slower crystallization mechanism at higher levels of CO dilution. These differences were accompanied by a change in microstructure from large spherulites to smaller particles. The biggest change occurred between the 1:4 and 1:5 blends. Canola oil dilution also influenced the polymorphism of milk fat. Whereas only the β′ polymorph was observed in the crystallized 1:2 blend, the β polymorph predominated in the 1:8 blend. Some solubilization of AMF solids into CO was observed. This increased gradually with increasing CO concentration. Compositional analysis revealed the exchange of AMF and CO species between the liquid and crystalline fractions. The crystalline fractions were slightly enriched in AMF triacylglycerols, particularly with the more dilute blends (1:7 and 1:8). Large amounts of oil were trapped in the crystalline fractions, particularly for the concentrated AMF:CO blends where the β′ crystals and spherulitic microstructures were observed. Although the solid fat content profiles of the fractionated blends were marginally higher than those of the starting blends, the samples were very soft and oily. This strategy of using CO to fractionate milk fat was limited by the poor separation of solids and liquid during centrifugation. 相似文献

The objectives of this study were to critically review randomized controlled trials, and quantify, using meta-analysis and meta-regression, the effects of supplementation with fats on milk production and components by dairy cows. We reviewed 59 papers, of which 38 (containing 86 comparisons) met eligibility criteria. Five groups of fats were evaluated: tallows, calcium salts of palm fat (Megalac, Church and Dwight Co. Inc., Princeton, NJ), oilseeds, prilled fat, and other calcium salts. Milk production responses to fats were significant, and the estimated mean difference was 1.05 kg/cow per day, but results were heterogeneous. Milk yield increased with increased difference in dry matter intake (DMI) between treatment and control groups, decreased with predicted metabolizable energy (ME) balance between these groups, and decreased with increased difference in soluble protein percentage of the diet between groups. Decreases in DMI were significant for Megalac, oilseeds, and other Ca salts, and approached significance for tallow. Feeding fat for a longer period increased DMI, as did greater differences in the amount of soluble protein percentage of the diet between control and treatment diets. Tallow, oilseeds, and other Ca salts reduced, whereas Megalac increased, milk fat percentage. Milk fat percentage effects were heterogeneous for fat source. Differences between treatment and control groups in duodenal concentrations of C18:2 and C 18:0 fatty acids and Mg percentage reduced the milk fat percentage standardized mean difference. Milk fat yield responses to fat treatments were very variable. The other Ca salts substantially decrease, and the Megalac and oilseeds increased, fat yield. Fat yield increased with increased DMI difference between groups and was lower with an increased estimated ME balance between treatment and control groups, indicating increased partitioning of fat to body tissue reserves. Feeding fats decreased milk protein percentage, but results were heterogeneous. An increased number of milkings increased the milk protein percentage, whereas the difference between the treatment and control groups in duodenal concentrations of 18:2 fatty acids and dietary Mg concentration reduced the milk protein percentage. None of the fat treatments influenced milk protein production. The range of responses to different fats fed approached or exceeded 5 standard deviations from the mean and differed in point direction for all variables studied, indicating the varied and profound biological effects of fats. Responses to fat feeding were highly heterogeneous for all variables studied and heterogeneity was present within responses to individual fat groups. The lower DMI combined with higher milk and milk fat production showed that fats could improve the efficiency of milk production. More studies are required to more completely characterize sources of variation in responses to fats. 相似文献

Herd-years of Israeli-Holsteins were stratified into three groups by two criteria: mean annualized milk yield [365 (total lactations yield/calving interval)] and mean persistency, estimated as the ratio of daily milk production at the 5th mo postpartum to daily production during the postpartum peak period. The latter was taken as an indication of the relative environmental stress on the cow. Primi- and multiparous cows were analyzed separately. Genetic parameters were estimated for annualized milk and fat production at each production and persistency group. Heritabilities increased with a rise in production for both primiparous and multiparous cows, but the effect was greater for multiparous cows. Even though persistency and production were correlated, no clear trends were evident for stratification by persistency; thus, a relationship between stress and heritability was not established. Genetic correlations among stratification groups were between .7 and .9 for persistency and between .6 and .86 for production; thus, sire x environmental interaction was greater for production than for persistency stratification. Production in a given year can be used as a criterion for selecting herds to test progeny of young sires in the following year. 相似文献

The paper was designed to assess the effect of the type of milk meter used by dairy farms for official milk testing to obtain individual milk samples for fat and protein determination. This study was performed in 2006 in Galicia, which is Spain's main dairy cattle region; data were collected from 2,149 Holstein cow farms enrolled for official milk recording. Findings indicate that the milk sampling system used has a substantial effect on the fat contents recorded for individual milk samples. Such variation could arise from poor functioning of the equipment, inadequate mixing of the milk portion from which the sample is obtained, or from the nonproportionality of the sample. Samples obtained from only one point in the milk line may not be representative of all the milk produced. The most significant differences are observed in the percentage of fat, whereas differences in percentage of protein are smaller. The sampling method used should, but does not always, provide a representative sample of the milk from a single milking. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of monensin (MN) and dietary soybean oil (SBO) on milk fat percentage and milk fatty acid (FA) profile. The study was conducted as a randomized complete block design with a 2 × 3 factorial treatment arrangement using 72 lactating multiparous Holstein dairy cows (138 ± 24 d in milk). Treatments were [dry matter (DM) basis] as follows: 1) control total mixed ration (TMR, no MN) with no supplemental SBO; 2) MN-treated TMR (22 g of MN/kg of DM) with no supplemental SBO; 3) control TMR including 1.7% SBO; 4) MN-treated TMR including 1.7% SBO; 5) control TMR including 3.4% SBO; and 6) MN-treated TMR including 3.4% SBO. The TMR (% of DM; corn silage, 31.6%; haylage, 21.2%; hay, 4.2%; high-moisture corn, 18.8%; soy hulls, 3.3%; and protein supplement, 20.9%) was offered ad libitum. The experiment consisted of a 2-wk baseline, a 3-wk adaptation, and a 2-wk collection period. Monensin, SBO, and their interaction linearly reduced milk fat percentage. Cows receiving SBO with no added MN (treatments 3 and 5) had 4.5 and 14.2% decreases in milk fat percentage, respectively. Cows receiving SBO with added MN (treatments 4 and 6) had 16.5 and 35.1% decreases in milk fat percentage, respectively. However, the interaction effect of MN and SBO on fat yield was not significant. Monensin reduced milk fat yield by 6.6%. Soybean oil linearly reduced milk fat yield and protein percentage and linearly increased milk yield and milk protein yield. Monensin and SBO reduced 4% fat-corrected milk and had no effect on DM intake. Monensin interacted with SBO to linearly increase milk fat concentration (g/100 g of FA) of total trans-18:1 in milk fat including trans-6 to 8, trans-9, trans-10, trans-11, trans-12 18:1 and the concentration of total conjugated linoleic acid isomers including cis-9, trans-11 18:2; trans-9, cis-11 18:2; and trans-10, cis-12 18:2. Also, the interaction increased milk concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Monensin and SBO linearly reduced, with no significant interaction, milk concentration (g/100 g of FA) of short- and medium-chain fatty acids (<C16). Soybean oil reduced total saturated FA and increased total monounsaturated FA. These results suggest that monensin reduces milk fat percentage and this effect is accentuated when SBO is added to the ration. 相似文献

Effects of tail docking on milk quality and cow cleanliness 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of tail docking on somatic cell count (SCC), intramammary infection (IMI), and udder and leg cleanliness in commercial dairy herds. Lactating dairy cows (n = 1250) from eight Wisconsin farms were blocked by farm and randomly allocated to tail docked (D) or control (C) groups. Milk samples, somatic cell counts, and hygiene scores were collected for 8 to 9 mo. The prevalence of IMI was determined for each of the five occasions when milk samples were obtained. Udder and leg cleanliness were assessed during milk sample collection. Docked and control animals were compared by logSCC, prevalence of IMI, and leg and udder cleanliness score. Variables were analyzed according to all treatment, period, and farm interactions. At the end of the study period 76 (12.2%) and 81 (13%) of cows were culled in the D and C groups, respectively. There were no significant differences in the initial data for parity, daily milk yield, logSCC, or DIM between treatment groups. Effects significant to farms were identified for all variables over all periods. Period was significant for all variables except for the prevalence of environmental pathogens, but no period x treatment interactions were detected. There was no significant difference between treatment groups for somatic cell count. The prevalence of contagious, environmental, or minor pathogens did not differ significantly between treatment groups. This study did not identify any differences in udder or leg hygiene or milk quality that could be attributed to tail docking. 相似文献

The differences in the milk fat digestion from milk of different species using an in vitro digestion model were investigated. Milk samples were collected from healthy lactating goats, camels, cows and buffalos. The in vitro digestion of milk fat was carried out at pH 7.5 to mimic pancreatic lipase activity in the small intestine leading to fatty acid release from fat globules. It was found that the amount of free fatty acids released per unit volume of the milk sample decreased in the following order: goat camel > cow > buffalo. The differences in the structure of fat globules during the digestion were characterised using confocal laser scanning microscopy. The information generated provided important insights into the factors that influence the activity of lipases during lipid digestion and improve understanding of in vivo fat digestion by pancreatic lipase. 相似文献

Although buffalo milk is the second most produced milk in the world, and of primary nutritional importance in various parts of the world, few studies have focused on the physicochemical properties of buffalo milk fat globules. This study is a comparative analysis of buffalo and cow milk fat globules. The larger size of buffalo fat globules, 5 vs. 3.5 μm, was related to the higher amount of fat in the buffalo milks: 73.4 ± 9.9 vs. 41.3 ± 3.7 g/kg for cow milk. Buffalo milks contained significantly lower amount of polar lipids expressed per gram of lipids (0.26% vs. 0.36%), but significantly higher amount of polar lipids per litre of milk (+26%). Buffalo and cow milk fat globule membranes contain the same classes of polar lipids; phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingomyelin (SM) and phosphatidylcholine (PC) being the main constituents. A significant higher percentage of PC and lower percentage of SM were found for buffalo milks. The fatty acid analysis revealed that saturated fatty acids, mainly palmitic acid, trans fatty acids, linolenic acid (ω3) and conjugated linolenic acid were higher in buffalo milk than in cow milk. Such results will contribute to the improvement of the quality of buffalo milk-based dairy products. 相似文献

Controlling bacterial growth in fluid milk is of economic interest, and supplemental methods to stop or reduce bacterial growth before and during the cooling chain may be valuable. Silver is effective in controlling growth of single-celled organisms, but has no effect on tissue cells. Smaller diameter (6-8 nm) silver nanoparticles were produced, with purity over 99.99% (no chemical reaction used in the process), by using a terminated gas condensation principle. The first trial investigated effects of time, temperature, and accelerating voltages on total aerobic bacteria count in control milk and milk treated with silver nanoparticles. Metal braids were coated with silver nanoparticles using 3 accelerating voltages, 0, 100, and 200V, the results of which indicated that the braids coated using 100V (AgNP100) were optimal. The AgNP100 particles were effective at all treatment temperatures and durations except for 10h, which indicated that the treated milk could be used after 10h for other dairy products such as yogurt, which require microbial activity. The second experiment investigated the effects of silver nanoparticles on counts of yeasts and molds, coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus in cow milk by treating milk with AgNP100 braids at 22 °C for 1h. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry analyses indicated that the maximum amount of silver found in the AgNP100-treated milk was 6.1μg/L, which is below the safety limits. Counts in milk samples containing the nanoparticle-coated braids were lower for all yeasts and molds and bacteria investigated compared with the control milk samples, which were kept under the same conditions but without the braids. The differences were significant for coliforms, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus but not for yeasts and molds, although ranking of the counts (AgNP100 < initial load < control) were the same for all microorganisms. Small-diameter, silver nanoparticle-coated braids can stop or reduce bacterial growth in fluid milk. Silver nanoparticles inhibited microbial growth and may be useful in complementing the cooling chain and the thermal processes. These results warrant more research on the sensory properties and long-term safety of the use of silver nanoparticles in dairy products. 相似文献

The effects of intraruminal infusions of urea on the voluntary intake and milk production of cows receiving grass silage diets 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Responses of dairy cows given silage diets to the intraruminal infusion of urea in progressively increasing doses were studied in four experiments, two with non-lactating cows and two with lactating cows. No clinical symptoms of NH3 toxicity were observed in any of the experiments. When urea was infused continuously, silage intake was depressed (P less than 0.05) when the total supply of N exceeded the equivalent of 250 g crude protein (CP)/kg DM in the total diet. However, when the urea load was administered twice daily, as opposed to continuously, intake depression (P less than 0.05) occurred at the equivalent of 170 g CP/kg DM. At the higher doses of urea, concentrations of NH3 in peripheral blood increased and were accompanied by increased concentrations of glucose and reduced levels of insulin in plasma. In general, responses of milk production followed those of silage intake but there was evidence of greater proportional reductions in the yield of lactose relative to that of fat and protein. It is concluded that the voluntary intake of high-protein silages may be depressed by factors associated with high rates of absorption of NH3 from the rumen. 相似文献

Hydrolysis of a long-chain triglyceride substrate by purified cow milk lipoprotein lipase, in the absence of blood serum, was changed by adding heated skim milks. Preincubation of the substrate with small amounts of several skim milks increased (+50 to 300%) lipoprotein lipase activity. By contrast, greater amounts of skim milk increased further or decreased lipoprotein lipase activity (+ 300 to -90%). The inhibitory effect was due to substrate surface protection. Results obtained after removal of casein (by isoelectric precipitation or by ultracentrifugation) and of whey proteins (by heat treatment) showed that the effect of skim milk was due to the proteose-peptone fraction. Fractionation of the proteose-peptone fraction into component 5-enriched fraction and component 3-enriched fractions suggested that the activating effect was due partially to proteose-peptone component 5, and the inhibitory effect resulted from component 3. These effects were overcome by blood serum. 相似文献
