杭州大剧院——我国利用钛作为建筑外墙装饰材料的里程碑

杭州大剧院位于钱江新城,是2004年第7届中国艺术节最具现代化的演出场所,也是人间天堂杭州市的标志性建筑之一,平面为椭圆形,由一个双曲壳和一个倒圆锥体相交形成立体建筑外形,充分体现新千年精神和杭州文化中心的特点。其整体外形如徐徐升起在钱塘江畔的一弯新月,其中屋面采用了钛板分离组合屋面系统,该工程建筑方案是经过国际招标后,采用加拿大建筑师卡洛斯的椭圆型开放式方案,施工图设计由卡洛斯和杭州市建筑设计研究院共同完成,建筑幕墙工程三标段即后屋盖金属幕墙系统,由珠海市晶艺玻璃工程有限公司承揽深化设计和施工。 杭州大剧院后…     

国家大剧院——我国使用钛材最多、最有标志性、最具现代建筑典范的大型公共文化设施

国家大剧院工程于2001年12月13日正式开工，预计2005年底交付使用。2004年2月2日下午14时，由珠海市晶艺玻璃工程有限公司承建的国家大剧院屋面工程正式开工。该椭球屋面由20000多块太空金属钛板和1200多块大小不等的有色玻璃幕组成，而钛板厚度仅0．4mm。国家大剧院屋面安装模型经过10个月的实验检验，进一步证明，坚固耐用而颜色艳丽多彩的太空金属钛将把大剧院的外观装扮得格外靓丽耀眼。     

Theatre utilization analysis

A method of analysing operating theatre utilization is presented as a management information system applicable to medical administration.The operating theatre plant represents an item of considerable expenditure in a hospital budget. This aspect of hospital activity requires maximized utilization to ensure an appropriate cost benefit. Extraction of information in such a form provides a basis for exact comparisons of performance of the personnel involved and determining needs for additional resources.

Theatre footwear: a health hazard?

Theatre footwear frequently appears to be contaminated with blood. We assessed objectively the nature and degree of contamination of theatre shoes after cleaning. Two hundred pairs of theatre shoes were randomly selected from three hospitals in South East Wales. Hospital 1 (H1), 100 pairs of shoes, Hospital 2 (H2), 40, Hospital 3 (H3), 60. They were examined for general appearance, the presence of bacterial pathogens and blood, using a leuchomalachite green assay. The majority of shoes were dirty, 63% in H1, 80% in H2, and 95% in H3. Six per cent of shoes in H1, 2.5% in H2 and 0% in H3 were contaminated with staphylococcus aureus. No shoes were contaminated with pseudomonas aeruginosa. Thirty six per cent of shoes in H1, 40% in H2 and 57% in H3 were contaminated with blood. In H1 it was possible to determine the grade of staff to whom the shoes belonged. Fifty eight per cent of consultant surgeons' shoes tested positive for blood, 50% of junior surgeons, 16% of operating department assistants and none of nurses' theatre shoes. The high level of blood contamination following cleaning may pose a potential HIV or hepatitis B risk to patients, manual shoe cleaner and surgeons. We have demonstrated that current shoe cleaning practices are ineffective. We propose methods that should eliminate this risk. Procedures will need to be defined.     

Grand rounds: sports medicine

Experiments were undertaken to examine the influence of corticosterone on forskolin-stimulated cyclic AMP accumulation in rat cerebral cortical slices. Incubation in vitro of cerebral cortical slices with increasing concentrations of corticosterone (1 nM-100 microM) did not influence basal cyclic AMP response. Despite the lack of effect when used alone, corticosterone attenuated the effect of forskolin (10 microM) on cyclic AMP accumulation with IC50 = 24.1 +/- 5.1 microM. Corticosterone (10 microM) added to the incubation medium, for 10 min, reduced the cyclic AMP accumulation in response to increasing concentrations of forskolin (1 microM-100 microM), the concentration-response curve was shifted to the right by about one order of magnitude. In order to compare the in vitro effect of corticosterone with its effects in vivo in the next experiment the forskolin-induced cyclic AMP accumulation was measured in cerebral cortical slices from rats which were treated with corticosterone or vehicle. Similarly as in in vitro model, single dose of corticosterone (10 mg/kg sc) given to rats 2 h before sacrifice inhibited forskolin-stimulated cyclic AMP accumulation when compared with vehicle-treated control animals. In contrast, prolonged administration of corticosterone (10 mg/kg sc, twice daily for 4 and 7 days) increased forskolin-stimulated cyclic AMP accumulation in rat cerebral cortical slices when measured 2, 24 and 48 h after the administration of the last dose. These findings suggest that glucocorticoids exert multiple actions on the adenylate cyclase-coupled cyclic AMP generating system in the brain, with the ultimate effect being dependent upon amount and duration of exposure to these hormones.     

Grand illusions: Traits or interactions?

Argues that research and theory in the field of personality has been guided by 4 major models: trait psychology, psychodynamics, situationism, and interactionism. A distinction is made between models of psychological processes and measurement models, a critique of the trait model is presented, and an alternative interactional model is suggested. Empirical research and research strategies on Person * Situation interactions are provided, with special emphasis on a Person * Treatment experimental design. The role of situation factors in interactionism is also discussed, and an interaction model of anxiety is presented. It is concluded that process-oriented dynamic interaction models are preferable to static mechanistic interaction models.
