This work is concerned with the influence of mica in natural rubber compounds on properties such as Mooney viscosity, processability and rheological behavior. The amount of this filler was varied from 0 to 40 phr and the stabilized and totalized torques, specific and mechanical energies were determined in a HAAKE torque rheometer. The elastic torque (S′) and complex dynamic viscosity (η?) were measured on a rubber processing analyzer (RPA). The results show that mica influences processability and rheological properties, by acting as a processing agent in natural rubber composites. 相似文献

The epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) with epoxy group contents of 48.4% were coagulated with ethanol and steam and the structures, processing performances, antioxidative behaviors, cure characteristics, and dynamic mechanical properties were analyzed using infrared spectroscopy, rubber processing analyzer, thermogravimetric analyzer, rheometer, and dynamic thermomechanical analyzer, respectively. The results indicate that the ENR coagulated with ethanol (ENR‐e) exhibits a compact structure and the contents of residual low‐molecular‐weight matters are higher than those of unconsolidated ENR coagulated with steam (ENR‐s). Therefore, the processing performance and antioxidative behavior as well as the curing characteristics of ENR‐e compound are poorer than those of ENR‐s. Although the mechanical properties and wet skid resistance of ENR‐s vulcanizate are poorer than those of ENR‐e, the heat build‐up or rolling resistance of ENR‐s is better than that of ENR‐e. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Effect of Graphitic Nanosheets on the Physical Properties of Cyclic Olefin Copolymer Composite Films

In this study, microstructural and physical properties of cyclic olefin copolymer composite films prepared by melt processing method and using of graphitic nanofillers, namely, graphite, graphite oxide, and reduced graphite oxide were investigated. Structural and physical properties of the chemically modified graphites and composite films were characterized by the Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical analyzer, and thermogravimetric analyzer methods. It was found that the composite films including reduced graphite oxide exhibited exfoliated structure whereas graphite- and graphite oxide-based films showed intercalated structure. It was also obtained that all composite films showed superior gas barrier performance compared to the cyclic olefin copolymer. 相似文献

Carbon nanotube mats (buckypapers) were prepared from three commercial grades of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and by two processing variants (i.e. filtration of centrifuged and uncentrifuged dispersions). Material properties such as Young’s modulus, tensile strength, electrical conductivity, electrical capacitance, specific surface area and morphology were investigated and put in relation to the in-plane actuation performance in an aqueous electrolyte (1 M NaCl). A dynamic mechanical analyzer was adapted for actuation strain measurements on the samples under various tensile prestress levels. High SWCNT purity and dispersibility were found to be crucial for preparing dense and strong cohesive mats with good actuation performance. 相似文献

A complex of resorcinol and hexamethylenetetramine (RH) was utilized to modify nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC). The modified NCC (MNCC) was then mixed with natural rubber (NR) filled silica. The structure, processing properties, mechanical properties, and dynamic compression fatigue properties of the NR/MNCC/Silica nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), rubber processing analyzer, electronic tensile machine, and dynamic compression fatigue performance tester. The results showed that the processing properties, mechanical properties, and dynamic compression fatigue properties of NR/MNCC/Silica nanocomposites were substantially improved over NR/Silica composites. Their better performances in terms of processing, mechanical properties, heat build‐up, and permanent set were correlated to the better dispersion of MNCC and stronger interface interaction between NR and MNCC than NR/Silica composites.
