Executives responsible for the information system function need to be concerned about developing a base of satisfied users and maintaining continuing user satisfaction after implementation. This article focuses on user satisfaction among on-going user manager, explores the role of good user documentation, and examines the results of a survey of 144 user managers from 55 firms. The results indicate that good user documentation appears to be an important factor in insuring user understanding and continuing user satisfaction. Thus firms considering alternative ways of keeping users satisfied (i.e., personal computer applications, end user computing, or information centers) might well examine their user documentation practices before exploring other alternatives. 相似文献

User participation emerged as a critical issue for collaborative and social recommender systems as well as for a range of other systems based on the power of user community. A range of mechanisms to encourage user participation in social systems has been proposed over the last few years; however, the impact of these mechanisms on users behavior in recommender systems has not been studied sufficiently. This paper investigates the impact of encouraging user participation in the context of CourseAgent, a community-based course recommender system. The recommendation power of CourseAgent is based on course ratings provided by a community of students. To increase the number of course ratings, CourseAgent applies an incentive mechanism which turns user feedback into a self-beneficial activity. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of our course recommendation system and its incentive mechanism. The relationship between user participation and information system (IS) success has drawn attention from researchers for some time. It is assumed that strong participation of future users in the design of IS would lead to successful outcomes in terms of more IS usage, greater user acceptance, and increased user satisfaction. However, in spite of this, much of the empirical research so far has been unable to demonstrate its benefits. This paper examines the participation–success relationship in a broader context, where the effects of user participation and two other factors, user attitudes and user involvement, on system success occur simultaneously. Other contingency variables considered here are: system impact, system complexity, and development methodology. The theoretical framework and the associated hypotheses are empirically tested by a survey of 32 organizations. Empirical results corroborate the positive link between user participation and user satisfaction and provide evidence on the interplay between user attitudes and user involvement. 相似文献

The development of the user interface concerns all aspects of a software system that are targeted to the interactive delivery
of its functionality and data. Today, user interface development accounts for a large proportion of the overall software implementation,
while the programming process involves various recurring software patterns. Based on the identification of key commonly occurring
user interface programming patterns, we have designed and implemented a user interface programming language with built-in
constructs to directly support those software patterns, offering declarative programming features such as: precondition-based
actions, unidirectional constraints and data-content monitors. Initially, we introduce the deployment syntax and semantics
of the novel programming elements, relying upon subject interaction scenarios. Then we reveal the most demanding implementation

搜索引擎的一个标准是不同的用户用相同的查询条件检索时,返回的结果相同。为解决准确性问题,个性化搜索引擎被提出,它可以根据用户的不同个性化特征提供不同的搜索结果。然而,现有的方法更注重用户的长时记忆和独立的用户日志文件,从而降低了个性化搜索的有效性。获取用户短时记忆模型来提供准确有效的用户偏好的个性化搜索方法被广泛采用。首先,根据基于查询关键词的相关概念生成短期记忆模型;接着,基于用户的时序有效点击数据生成用户个性化模型;最后,在用户会话中引入了遗忘因子来优化用户个性化模型。实验结果表明,所提出的方法可以较好地表达用户信息需求,较为准确地构建用户的个性化模型。 相似文献

To provide a more robust context for personalization, we desire to extract a continuum of general to specific interests of
a user, called a user interest hierarchy (UIH). The higher-level interests are more general, while the lower-level interests
are more specific. A UIH can represent a user’s interests at different abstraction levels and can be learned from the contents
(words/phrases) in a set of web pages bookmarked by a user. We propose a divisive hierarchical clustering (DHC) algorithm
to group terms (topics) into a hierarchy where more general interests are represented by a larger set of terms. Our approach
does not need user involvement and learns the UIH “implicitly”. To enrich features used in the UIH, we used phrases in addition
to words. Our experiment indicates that DHC with the Augmented Expected Mutual Information (AEMI) correlation function and
MaxChildren threshold-finding method built more meaningful UIHs than the other combinations on average; using words and phrases
as features improved the quality of UIHs. 相似文献
