The Internet has spawned a revolution in the way people distribute content and access services. At the same time, the availability of broadband and wireless networks has increased, as have the capability and portability of computing and consumer electronic devices. These factors have fueled the development of new technologies to automate, manage, and secure content flow and service access over the Internet. This paper deals with the recently approved ISO standard, MPEG-21 Rights Expression Language (REL). This language is precise, flexible, extensible, and rich in expressing rights. Thus, it can support reliable, flexible, and cost-effective interoperable digital rights management (DRM) systems and applications for electronic commerce and enterprise management of content and services. It is an international standard for expressing and interpreting rights for using and distributing content, resources, and arid services. As an enabling technology for interoperable DRM, its' adoption by industry and incorporation into products certainly takes time. The challenge is to proliferate the REL's adaptation across many different DRM systems as well as conditional access and authorization systems. Moreover, the REL must pervade not only entertainment but also many other applications, such as enterprise, medical information, and even privacy protection.  相似文献

The problem of digital content piracy is becoming more and more critical, and major content producers are risking seeing their business being drastically reduced because of the ease by which digital contents can be copied and distributed. This is the reason why digital rights management (DRM) is currently garnering much attention from industry and research. Among the various technologies that can contribute to set up a reliable DRM system, data hiding (watermarking) has found an important place due to its potentiality of persistent attaching some additional information to the content itself. In this article, we analyzed the possible use of data hiding technology in DRM systems. The article also gives a brief survey of the main characteristics of the most common data hiding methods such as proof of ownership, watermark, copyright protection, infringement tracking, copy control, and item identification. The article also investigates the different approaches by highlighting critical points of each approach in particular from the point of view of hostile attacks.  相似文献

Mobile devices (e.g. mobile handsets or PDAs) have gained much functionality and intelligence with the growth of mobile network technologies and the increased use of mobile services. As a consequence, mobile devices have become more complex and many related problems have occurred. Specifically, sudden rebooting and freezing problems caused by software faults decrease the availability of the mobile device and cause inconvenience to end‐users. To solve such problems, academia and industry have focused on Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Device Management (DM); this method is the international de facto standard for mobile device management. In this paper, we propose a software fault management method to remotely determine and correct problems of mobile devices based on OMA DM. We present a definition of management objects and a method to collect them from mobile devices using the OMA DM protocol. We also present a method for debugging and correcting software faults using the collected information. Finally, we present a prototype implementation and performance evaluation to validate our proposed method. Results of the performance evaluation show that our proposed method is efficient and scalable in regard to network traffic overhead and response time. As the number of digital content service providers increases, a variety of digital rights management (DRM) systems appear without supporting interoperability. The lack of interoperability in DRM systems causes inconvenience to customers, especially when they want to play content through multiple devices manufactured by different vendors. In this letter, we propose a novel method to support interoperability between different DRM systems. The proposed technique aims to build an open framework structure which satisfies DRM vendors' requirements by enhancing the security of intellectual property management and the protection tools.  相似文献
