A capacitor-clamped voltage-source inverter for active power filter operation under balanced and unbalanced conditions is proposed to suppress current harmonics and compensate the reactive power generated from the nonlinear loads. The adopted voltage-source inverter is based on a three-level capacitor-clamped topology to reduce the voltage stress of power semiconductors. Two control loops are used in the control scheme to achieve harmonic and reactive currents compensation and to regulate the inverter dc side voltage. In the adopted inverter, the neutral point voltage is compensated by a voltage compensator to obtain the balanced capacitor voltages on the dc side. In order to control the flying capacitor voltages, two redundant states in each inverter leg can be selected to compensate the flying capacitor to obtain a better voltage waveform with low harmonic contents on the ac terminals. The balanced and sinusoidal line currents are drawn from the ac source under the balanced and unbalanced conditions. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is confirmed through experimental results  相似文献

This paper deals with an implementation of a new control algorithm for a three-phase shunt active filter to regulate load terminal voltage, eliminate harmonics, correct supply power-factor, and balance the nonlinear unbalanced loads. A three-phase insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) based current controlled voltage source inverter (CC-VSI) with a DC bus capacitor is used as an active filter (AF). The control algorithm of the AF uses two closed loop PI controllers. The DC bus voltage of the AF and three-phase supply voltages are used as feedback signals in the PI controllers. The control algorithm of the AF provides three-phase reference supply currents. A carrier wave pulse width modulation (PWM) current controller is employed over the reference and sensed supply currents to generate gating pulses of IGBTs of the AF. Test results are presented and discussed to demonstrate the voltage regulation, harmonic elimination, power-factor correction and load balancing capabilities of the AF system  相似文献

A New Multilevel Conversion Structure for Grid-Connected PV Applications   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A novel scheme for three-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) generation systems is presented in this paper. The scheme is based on two insulated strings of PV panels, each one feeding the dc bus of a standard two-level three-phase voltage-source inverter (VSI). The inverters are connected to the grid by a three-phase transformer having open-end windings on the inverter side. The resulting conversion structure performs as a multilevel power active filter (equivalent to a three-level inverter), doubling the power capability of a single VSI with given voltage and current ratings. The multilevel voltage waveforms are generated by an improved space-vector-modulation algorithm, suitable for the implementation in industrial digital signal processors. An original control method has been introduced to regulate the dc-link voltages of each VSI, according to the voltage reference given by a single maximum power point tracking controller. The proposed regulation system has been verified by numerical simulations and experimental tests with reference to different operating conditions.  相似文献

This paper presents the optimal control of the ac currents, the dc voltage regulation, and the dc capacitor voltage balancing in a three-level three-phase neutral point clamped multilevel converter for use in power quality applications as an active power filter. The ac output currents and the dc capacitor voltages are sampled and predicted for the next sampling time using linearized models and considering all the 27 output voltage vectors. A suitable quadratic weighed cost function is used to choose the voltage vector that minimizes the ac current tracking errors, the dc voltage steady-state error, and the input dc capacitor voltage unbalancing. The obtained experimental results show that the output ac currents track their references showing small ripple, a total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 1%, harmonic contents that are 46 dB below the fundamental, and almost no steady-state error (0.3%). The capacitor voltages are balanced within 0.05%, and the balancing is assured even when redundant vectors are not chosen. Near-perfect capacitor dc voltage balancing is obtained while reducing current harmonic distortion. Some experimental evidence of robustness concerning a parameter variation was also found, with the optimum controller withstanding parameter deviations from $+$100% to $-$50%. Compared to a robust sliding mode controller, the optimal controller can reduce the THD of the ac currents or reduce the switching frequency at the same THD, being a suitable controller for power quality in medium-voltage applications.   相似文献

This paper deals with the performance analysis of a static compensator (STATCOM)-based voltage regulator for self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) supplying nonlinear loads. In practice, a number of loads are nonlinear in nature, and therefore, they inject harmonics in the generating systems. The SEIG's performance, being a weak isolated system, is very much affected by these harmonics. The additional drawbacks of the SEIG are poor voltage regulation and that it requires an adjustable reactive power source with varying loads to maintain a constant terminal voltage. A three-phase insulated-gate-bipolar-transistor-based current-controlled voltage source inverter working as STATCOM is used for harmonic elimination, and it provides the required reactive power for the SEIG, with varying loads to maintain a constant terminal voltage. A dynamic model of the SEIG-STATCOM feeding nonlinear loads using stationary d-q axes reference frame is developed for predicting the behavior of the system under transient conditions. The simulated results show that SEIG terminal voltage is maintained constant, even with nonlinear balanced and unbalanced loads, and free from harmonics using STATCOM-based voltage regulator  相似文献

This paper presents a direct current-space-vector control of an active power filter (APF) based on a three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) voltage-source inverter. The proposed method indirectly generates the compensation current reference by using an equivalent conductance of the fundamental component using APF's dc-link voltage control. The proposed control can selectively choose harmonic current components by real-time fast Fourier transform to generate the compensation current. The compensation current is represented in a rotating coordinate system with chosen switching states from a switching table implemented in a field-programmable gate array. In addition, a three-phase four-wire APF based on a three-level neutral-point-clamped inverter is also presented. The proposed APF eliminates harmonics in all three phases as well as the neutral current. A three-phase three-wire NPC inverter system can be used as a three-phase four-wire system since the split dc capacitors provide a neutral connection. To regulate and balance the split dc-capacitor voltages, a new control method using a sign cubical hysteresis controller is proposed. The characteristics of the APF system with an LCL-ripple filter are investigated and compared with traditional current control strategies to evaluate the inherent advantages. The simulation and experimental results validated the feasibility of the proposed APF.   相似文献

A three-phase voltage-source inverter for a power quality compensator under the unbalanced mains and nonlinear loads is proposed to provide balanced three-phase source current and improve input power factor. The proposed converter is based on the conventional three-phase voltage-source inverter with three additional ac power switches to achieve three-level pulsewidth modulation. The voltage stress of three ac power switches is clamped to half the dc-link voltage. The balanced reference mains currents are estimated using the dc-bus voltage and load currents. A proportional-integral voltage controller is used in the outer loop to compensate the switching losses of the voltage-source inverter. To perform the integrated power quality compensation, a hysteresis current control scheme is adopted to track the balanced line current command in phase with mains voltage. Three voltage levels are generated on the ac terminal of the proposed inverter. Computer simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.  相似文献

This paper presents the design and implementation of a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) with Integral action (LQRI) for a three-phase three-wire shunt active filter (SAF). The integral action is added so as to cancel the steady-state errors for reference tracking or disturbance rejection, knowing that the standard LQR provides only proportional gains. The controller is designed to achieve dc bus voltage regulation and harmonics and reactive power compensation. The converter model is set in the $d{-}q$ rotating reference frame. The latter is augmented with the integral of the $q$ component of the SAF currents and dc bus voltage to achieve integral action. The controller's performance depends on the weighting matrix, which is chosen to ensure satisfactory response. The converter is controlled as a whole, i.e., a multi-input–multioutput system and a fixed pulsewidth modulation at 10 kHz is used to generate the gating signals of the power devices. The system is tested for harmonics, reactive power, and load unbalance compensation for balanced/unbalanced loads. The experimental results obtained with a digital signal processor-based implementation of the controller on the DS1104 of dSPACE show good performance in terms of dc bus voltage regulation (small overshoot and very fast time response) and a low total harmonic distortion of ac line currents.   相似文献

Z-source inverter for motor drives   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper presents a Z-source inverter system and control for general-purpose motor drives. The Z-source inverter system employs a unique LC network in the dc link and a small capacitor on the ac side of the diode front end. By controlling the shoot-through duty cycle, the Z-source can produce any desired output ac voltage, even greater than the line voltage. As a result, the new Z-source inverter system provides ride-through capability during voltage sags, reduces line harmonics, improves power factor and reliability, and extends output voltage range. Analysis, simulation, and experimental results will be presented to demonstrate these new features.  相似文献

A novel three-level pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifier/inverter is proposed: this single-phase three-level rectifier with power factor correction and current harmonic reduction is proposed to improve power quality. A three-phase three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter is adopted to reduce the harmonic content of the inverter output voltages and currents. In the adopted rectifier, a switching mode rectifier with two AC power switches is adopted to draw a sinusoidal line current in phase with mains voltage. The switching functions of the power switches are based on a look-up table. To achieve a balanced DC-link capacitor voltage, a capacitor voltage compensator is employed. In the NPC inverter, the three-level PWM techniques based on the sine-triangle PWM and space vector modulation are used to reduce the voltage harmonics and to drive an induction motor. The advantages of the adopted th-ree-level rectifier/inverter are (1) the blocking voltage of power devices (T1, T2, Sa1-Sc4) is clamped to half of the DC-link voltage, (2) low conduction loss with low conduction resistance due to low voltage stress, (3) low electromagnetic interference, and (4) low voltage harmonics in the inverter output. Based on the proposed control strategy, the rectifier can draw a high power factor line current and achieve two balance capacitor voltages. The current harmonics generated from the adopted rectifier can meet the international requirements. Finally, the proposed control algorithm is illustrated through experimental results based on the laboratory prototype.  相似文献

The controlled-capacitor-charging (CCC) technique is utilized in this paper to synthesize a sinusoidal voltage at the output from the unregulated dc at the input. The method is based on the controlled charging/discharging of a capacitor to realize the desired voltage waveform. A capacitor that is connected across the load is charged/discharged through an inductor by applying high-frequency pulses. The applied pulses could be of either positive or negative polarity, depending on the error signal in the controller. The controller senses the output voltage and current and operates to maintain zero-current switching at every turn-on while keeping the output voltage close to the reference waveform by a tracking-control algorithm, enforcing limits in maximum switching frequency and voltage ripples. This paper presents a direct method of implementing the pulsewidth modulation for the single-phase full-bridge inverter, using the CCC technique. A simple procedure to design such an inverter is also discussed. The proposed controller is simulated in a personal computer simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis. Supporting results from an experimental prototype confirm the usefulness of the proposed controller. The inverter may be used in uninterruptible power supply and many other applications.   相似文献

A control scheme for star-connected cascade static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs) operating under unbalanced conditions is proposed. The STATCOM is assumed to be connected to an equivalent three-phase star-connected power supply. By selecting the line-to-neutral voltages of the equivalent power supply, zero average active power in each phase can be obtained under unbalanced compensation currents or unbalanced supply voltages. Furthermore, to implement a separate control for the three-phase dc-link voltages, the average active power in each phase can also be adjusted to a target value determined by the dc-link voltage control loop. Then, by forcing the converter neutral voltage to be equal to the counterpart of the equivalent power supply, the STATCOM can be decoupled into three single-phase systems and the line-to-neutral voltage of the equivalent power supply can be used as the input voltage to the corresponding phase leg. Accordingly, reference current tracking and dc-link voltage maintaining can be simultaneously achieved under unbalanced conditions. The valid operating range of the star-connected cascade STATCOM under unbalanced conditions is also analyzed. The proposed control scheme has been tested using the power systems computer-aided design/electromagnetic transient in dc system (EMTDC) simulation results and the experimental results based on a 30-kVAr cascade STATCOM laboratory prototype are proposed.   相似文献

A control scheme is proposed that employs an active rectifier to work simultaneously as an active power filter to decrease current harmonics. The adopted capacitor clamped rectifier is controlled to draw a sine wave line current with low current harmonics. A voltage controller, three capacitor voltage compensators and one current controller are used in the proposed control algorithm to achieve a constant DC bus voltage, balanced capacitor voltages and line current tracking. The validity of the proposed system is proved by the results of computer simulations and experimental tests.  相似文献

This paper investigates a reduced switch count dc-link ac–ac five-leg converter for three-phase power conversion. The converter provides both an input rectifier and an output inverter by sharing a leg in order to reduce the number of power switches. Scalar and vector pulsewidth modulation techniques are presented and the concepts of local and global apportioning factors are introduced. A control technique that aims at maximizing the utilization of the dc-link voltage is proposed. A hysteresis current controller that allows operating with one leg being shared by the load and grid sides is developed. In addition, several relevant characteristics of the converter are addressed, such as voltage capability, harmonic distortion, shared-leg and capacitor currents, and power rating. The features of such a converter are compared to those of the six-leg and four-leg converters. Selected experimental results are presented.  相似文献

The connection of distributed power sources with the utility grid generally needs an electronic power converter for processing the locally generated power and injecting current into the system. If the source provides a dc voltage, the converter must be able to produce a low-distortion high-power-factor ac current. The same aspects related with the voltage and current distortion produced by nonlinear loads can be considered for the injection of power into the grid. In the absence of a specific standard, this paper takes as a reference the limits for current harmonics given by international standards. The justification for this approach is that, from the resulting line voltage degradation, there is no difference between injected and absorbed currents. This paper presents a three-phase inverter using low-frequency commutation. An auxiliary circuit is added to the inverter topology to reduce the output voltage distortion, thus improving the current waveform. The main advantages of this approach are the minimization of the switching losses and the elimination of the electromagnetic interference, which avoids high-frequency filters necessary in high-frequency commutation inverters  相似文献

Regulation of load voltage in single-phase applications is becoming an important issue for critical loads. This paper presents a novel high-performance single-phase voltage regulator which has a common arm between the rectifier and inverter, and adopts an appropriate switching strategy. The proposed voltage regulator employs six switches and can be implemented by only one three-phase inverter module. The proposed voltage regulator has the capability of delivering sinusoidal input current with unity power factor, good output voltage regulation, and bidirectional power flow. For these purposes, a fully digital controller is designed and implemented using a TMS320F240 digital signal processor. In addition, a novel low-cost AC capacitor is also presented. This type of capacitor requires two DC capacitors and two diodes, enabling low-cost and compact manufacturing. Consequently, the complete voltage regulator system, which is mainly suitable for an uninterruptible power supply as well as reactive or nonlinear loads, can be constructed compactly and inexpensively. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed voltage regulator system  相似文献

A wide-range active and reactive power flow controller is designed to operate the inverter in pure leading, pure lagging, and the mix with active and reactive power conditions. The key to achieving lagging power flow control is to ensure sufficiently high enough dc bus voltage to avoid duty cycle saturation. The key to achieving precision power flow control for a wide range of power level is to adopt the quasi-proportional resonant controller for the current loop and the admittance compensator to cancel the grid-voltage-induced negative power flow. In this paper, the current loop transfer function has been systematically derived for the controller design purpose. Phasor analysis was adopted to explain the need of dc bus voltage requirement. A 5-kVA grid-tie fuel cell inverter was used as the platform to show current loop controller design and admittance compensation. The proposed controller has been simulated, and the same parameters have been used for a DSP-based controller. Both simulation and hardware experimental results agree well with the theoretical analysis.   相似文献

This paper discusses a digital control strategy for three-phase pulse-width modulation voltage inverters used in a single stand-alone ac distributed generation system. The proposed control strategy utilizes the perfect robust servomechanism problem control theory to allow elimination of specified unwanted voltage harmonics from the output voltages under severe nonlinear load and to achieve fast recovery performance on load transient. This technique is combined with a discrete sliding mode current controller that provides fast current limiting capability necessary under overload or short circuit conditions. The proposed control strategy has been implemented on a digital signal processor system and experimentally tested on an 80-kVA prototype unit. The results showed the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.  相似文献

A novel method of instantaneous voltage and power balance control of a parallel processing inverter system is proposed. It consists of a high-speed switching PWM (pulsewidth modulated) inverter with an instantaneous current minor loop controller, a voltage major loop controller, and a power balance controller. This system realizes the following functions with only one inverter: constant AC output voltage control with reactive power control, active filtering to absorb load current harmonics, DC voltage and current control as AC-to-DC converter, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for stand-alone operation. This system covers a wide application range, including UPS systems, new energy systems, and active filters with voltage control functions  相似文献

A Voltage and Frequency Droop Control Method for Parallel Inverters   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
In this paper, a new control method for the parallel operation of inverters operating in an island grid or connected to an infinite bus is described. Frequency and voltage control, including mitigation of voltage harmonics, are achieved without the need for any common control circuitry or communication between inverters. Each inverter supplies a current that is the result of the voltage difference between a reference ac voltage source and the grid voltage across a virtual complex impedance. The reference ac voltage source is synchronized with the grid, with a phase shift, depending on the difference between rated and actual grid frequency. A detailed analysis shows that this approach has a superior behavior compared to existing methods, regarding the mitigation of voltage harmonics, short-circuit behavior and the effectiveness of the frequency and voltage control, as it takes the R to X line impedance ratio into account. Experiments show the behavior of the method for an inverter feeding a highly nonlinear load and during the connection of two parallel inverters in operation.  相似文献
