2.5-Gb/s continuous-phase frequency-shift keying (CPFSK) regenerators are studied in laboratory and field experiments. A polarization diversity receiver is constructed with newly designed automatic gain and automatic frequency controllers. It achieves a sensitivity fluctuation of about 0.5 dB against all input signal polarization states. The automatic gain control is used in the intermediate-frequency circuits of the receiver and stably operates over 15 dB of input signal power variation. The automatic frequency control (AFC) is sufficiently stable to withstand a 30-kHz input signal polarization variation between two orthogonal linear polarization modes. AFC stability is maintained even if the environmental temperature of the laser diode modules fluctuates from 15 to 35 C. The polarization fluctuation in both cases results in only 0.1-dB degradation in receiver sensitivity  相似文献

A novel technique to obtain optimum blind spatial processing for frequency diversity spread spectrum (FDSS) communication systems is introduced. The sufficient statistics for a linear combiner, which prove ineffective due to the interferers frequency characteristics, are modified to yield improved detection under partial jamming in the spectral domain. Robustness to partial time jamming is achieved by extending the notion of replicas over the frequency axis to a repetition over the time variable. Analysis and simulations are provided, showing the advantages of using FDSS with spatial diversity to combat the interference when it is confined to a narrow frequency band or short time interval relative to the desired signal extent in either domain  相似文献

The case in which there are several channels available for transmission, and the additive noise on each channel may have different power, is treated. A signal constellation, called the coordinated code, for the signal space formed by the different channels is presented. The coordinated code has good performance when the noise powers are equal, while simultaneously providing diversity for good performance when the noise powers are unequal, and is relatively simple. The maximum-likelihood receiver is presented; it extracts information from the coded signal in inverse proportion to each channel's noise power. The minimum distance of the code is found, and the coding gain over a system that transmits independent bit streams on each channel is derived as a function of the noise statistics. The gain of the code is also found relative to symbol splitting diversity, which transmits a copy of the same message on each channel; this gain is as high as 9 dB. The code is considered in detail for use with a high rate digital subscriber line (HDSL) comprised of two pairs of a local loop, each pair having different amounts of near end crosstalk (NEXT)  相似文献

Receive diversity gain performance of a two-antenna setup in an office environment is reported. The terminal is handheld in front of the user simulating a data mode scenario while walking around. The dual polarised base station sector antenna is placed at the end of a corridor. The results indicate that experimentally achieved diversity performance is similar to previously predicted theoretical data.  相似文献

Spatial diversity for digital TV systems has been studied using the results of a measurement campaign of the radio channel complex frequency response for two different situations: an outdoor-indoor channel and an indoor-indoor channel. It is shown that the actual improvement of spatial diversity is not only the mean level increase, but the reduction of both the level crossing rate (LCR) and the average fade duration (AFD). The mean level gain is in the range 1.2-3 dB for the indoor-indoor channel and within 1.4-2.9 dB for the outdoor-indoor channel and the LCR/AFD improvement is between 9.5 and 15 dB for both environments. To explain the behavior of the diversity system, high resolution angle of arrival and delay information was obtained. It is concluded that it is the interference of the direct propagation path with the main reflections that causes the received field to follow a standing wave pattern and shapes the spatial diversity gain behavior  相似文献

Performance analysis of equal-gain combining (EGC) diversity systems is notoriously difficult only more so given that the closed-form probability density function (PDF) of the EGC output is only available for dual-diversity combining in Rayleigh fading. A powerful frequency-domain approach is therefore developed in which the average error-rate integral is transformed into the frequency domain, using Parseval's theorem. Such a transformation eliminates the need for computing (or approximating) the EGC output PDF (which is unknown), but instead requires the knowledge of the corresponding characteristic function (which is readily available). The frequency-domain method also circumvents the need to perform multiple-fold convolution integral operations, usually encountered in the calculation of the PDF of the sum of the received signal amplitudes. We then derive integral expressions for the average symbol-error rate of an arbitrary two-dimensional signaling scheme, with EGC reception in Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m (1960), and Nakagami-q fading channels. For practically important cases of second- and third-order diversity systems in Nakagami fading, both coherent and noncoherent detection methods for binary signaling are analyzed using the Appell hypergeometric function. A number of closed-form solutions are derived in which the results put forward by Zhang (see ibid., vol.45, p.270-73, 1997) are shown to be special cases.  相似文献

A two-branch diversity antenna using a simple printed dual band double-T monopole and operating at 2.4 and 5.2 GHz in the ISM band is presented. A prototype of the proposed antenna has been constructed and tested. The measured results are in good agreement with the computed ones from simulation, while the antenna has favourable characteristics such as reduced size and extended bandwidth.  相似文献

A study of the seasonal performance of site diversity (SD) using four years of rain radar measurements in South England is presented. Detailed analyses of site diversity gain as well as the spatial correlation of rain attenuation at pairs of sites of various separation distances and baseline orientations reveal significant seasonal dependence, a much greater efficacy of SD for fade mitigation in the summer and a larger sensitivity of the technique to baseline orientation in non-summer seasons.  相似文献

This paper examines the antenna diversity configurations that improve the performance in handheld radios. Experiments using spatial, polarization, and pattern diversity were conducted for both line-of-sight (LOS) and obstructed outdoor and indoor multipath channels that experienced Ricean fading. Antenna separation, polarization, and pattern were varied independently to the extent possible. Envelope correlation, power imbalance, and diversity gain were calculated from the measurements. Diversity performance is measured by diversity gain, which is the difference in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) between the output of a diversity combiner and the signal on a single branch, measured at a given probability level. Diversity gain increases with decreasing envelope correlation between the antenna diversity branches. However, diversity gain decreases as the power imbalance between diversity branches increases because a branch that has a weak signal has only a small contribution to the combined signal. Diversity gain values of 7-9 dB at the 99% reliability level were achieved in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) channels for all diversity configurations even with very small antenna spacings. The use of polarization diversity reduced polarization mismatches, improving SNR by up to 12 dB even in LOS channels  相似文献

Epilepsy is the most prevalent neurological disorder affecting both adults and children. Over two-and-one-half million individuals in the United States have epilepsy and 25% of them do not respond to drugs. A significant focus of current research efforts is the development of a fully implantable device for real-time seizure detection and automated warning and blockage of seizures. The purpose of this paper is to describe and demonstrate the feasibility of incorporating a novel tool, the percentile tracking filter into a successful, validated seizure detection algorithm to create an analog seizure detection device. We demonstrate, in a small-scale study, that the performance of this analog implementation is statistically similar to a digital implementation of a previously described and successfully validated seizure digital algorithm. This analog implementation can be realized into an application specific integrated circuit that is suitable for a fully implantable device for seizure monitoring, warning and treatment, which is likely to consume very little power, a feature of practical value.  相似文献

为了提高混合自动重传请求(H-ARQ)系统的通信性能,研究了H-ARQ块衰落信道上全分集低密度奇偶校验(LDPC)码的构造与性能.首先分析了H-ARQ块衰落信道的中断概率及其固有分集,然后构造了在H-ARQ块衰落信道上能取得全分集的LDPC码,新构造的码字采用根校验节点把每次传输联系起来,从而获得全分集.在此基础上,分析了全分集LDPC码的结构,提出了通过提高全分集校验比特的比例,改善全分集LDPC码在H-ARQ信道上编码增益的方法.仿真结果表明,所提算法在H-ARQ信道上不仅能取得全分集,而且具有较高的编码增益  相似文献

Code division multiple-access (CDMA) techniques using interference cancellation are being explored for the capacity increase in third-generation universal mobile telecommunications systems. However, multipath fading is a major constraint on the performance of wireless CDMA systems, with multipath propagation worsening the effects of multiple-access interference, and fading on propagation paths leading to the near far problem. Multiuser detection, exploiting the knowledge of other users to cancel multiple-access interference, has the capability of eliminating the near far problem and providing a significant capacity increase in CDMA systems. On the other hand, diversity techniques effectively combat the fading effects of the channel. This paper investigates multiuser receivers that combine explicit antenna diversity, RAKE multipath diversity, and multipath decorrelating detection. Both coherent reception with maximal-ratio combining and differentially coherent reception with equal-gain combining are analyzed. The results demonstrate a significant increase in up-link capacity over the conventional RAKE receiver, at the expense of complexity. In the case of limited receiver complexity, where the number of correlators is less than the number of resolvable paths at the RAKE front-end, antenna diversity is shown to be effective in reducing residual multiple-access interference  相似文献

Switch-and-stay combining (SSC) diversity systems have the advantage of offering one of the least complex solutions to mitigating the effect of fading. In this paper, we present a Markov chain-based analytical framework for the performance analysis of various switching strategies used in conjunction with SSC systems. The resulting expressions are quite general, and are applicable to dual-branch diversity systems operating over a variety of correlated and/or unbalanced fading channels. The mathematical formalism is illustrated by some selected numerical examples, along with their discussion and interpretation. As a result, this paper presents a thorough comparison and highlights the main differences and tradeoffs between the various SSC switching strategies.  相似文献

The authors propose a three-node full diversity cooperative protocol, which allows the retransmission of all symbols. By allowing multiple nodes to transmit simultaneously, relaying transmission only consumes limited bandwidth resource. To facilitate the performance analysis of the proposed cooperative protocol, the lower and upper bounds of the outage probability are first developed, and then the high signal-to-noise ratio behaviour is studied. Our analytical results show that the proposed strategy can achieve full diversity. To achieve the performance gain promised by the cooperative diversity, at the relays decode-and-forward strategy is adopted and an iterative soft-interference-cancellation minimum mean-squared error equaliser is developed. The simulation results compare the bit-error-rate performance of the proposed protocol with the non-cooperative scheme and the scheme presented by Azarian et al. (2005).  相似文献

We present a transmission scheme for exploiting diversity given by two transmit antennas when neither the transmitter nor the receiver has access to channel state information. The new detection scheme can use equal energy constellations and encoding is simple. At the receiver, decoding is achieved with low decoding complexity. The transmission provides full spatial diversity and requires no channel state side information at the receiver. 基于多天线接收的空间分集技术与均衡技术相结合的空间分集均衡算法可以克服衰落带来的不利影响,有效提高通信系统接收端的性能。文中将多天线支路间的合并权值和均衡器的权值统一合并于盲均衡算法中的系数估计,形成一种新的空间分集盲均衡算法,该算法具有较小的实现复杂度和很好的均衡效果。通过仿真实验表明,在误符号率相同的条件下,本文提出的分集均衡算法比单路信号盲均衡算法所需信噪比低1 dB-2 dB。同时分析了多天线接收的支路信号间存在的相位差以及延迟对算法的性能影响。  相似文献
