The Google Web Toolkit's public debut and rapid maturing have brought attention to the myriad tools and frameworks for facilitating Web applications, particularly those written with Ajax Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. GWT's debut had significance for the industry far beyond Google itself. It was a lot like what Google Maps did for Ajax technology in general; it legitimized the idea of an Ajax component framework and made Ajax frameworks more visible. This paper reviews four significant advances on the feedforward architecture that has dominated discussions of connectionism. The first involves introducing modularity into networks by employing procedures whereby different networks learn to perform different components of a task, and a Gating Network determines which network is best equiped to respond to a given input. The second consists in the use of recurrent inputs whereby information from a previous cycle of processing is made available on later cycles. The third development involves developing compressed representations of strings in which there is no longer an explicit encoding of the components but where information about the structure of the original string can be recovered and so is present functionally. The final advance entails using connectionist learning procedures not just to change weights in networks but to change the patterns used as inputs to the network. These advances significantly increase the usefulness of connectionist networks for modeling human cognitive performance by, among other things, providing tools for explaining the productivity and systematicity of some mental activities, and developing representations that are sensitive to the content they are to represent.A version of this paper was the invited address at the first annual conference of the Society for Machines and Mentality in December, 1991. A related version was presented at the Computers and Philosophy Conference in August, 1992. Rogowski coils (RCs) are widely used to measure power or high frequency currents based on their design. In this paper, two types of RCs that are circular (traditional) and cylindrical shapes wound using wire covered by varnish are constructed. This construction is carried out to be suitable for monitoring the discharge current of the surge arrester installed in the distribution system. Concerning high frequency RC modeling for both types considering transfer function is introduced. Self-integrating for both types is attained. Therefore, the experimental tests using function generator for both coils are carried out to identify the parameters of the transfer function representing the introduced model. The measured signals for current and induced voltages are denoised for the parameter identification process. The denoised process is achieved using the MATLAB code ‘wdenoise’ while the parameters are estimated using the system identification toolbox. Verification of the proposed model is achieved using experimental results for the two coils. The sensitivity of the two coils is investigated based on the induced output voltage. The application concerning the two coils for monitoring the discharge current of the surge arrester is done. The results confirm the accuracy of the introduced RC model, as well as the performance of the cylindrical shape, is better than the traditional one. The simulation is carried out using MATLAB and ATPDraw programs. 相似文献
