We propose to use carbon nanotube (CNT)–CNT contacts instead of CNT–metal contacts as a route towards low resistance CNT horizontal interconnects. We characterize by electrical transport measurements and Kelvin probe force microscopy the contacts present in CNT horizontal interconnects grown by chemical vapor deposition between titanium nitride electrodes.When two CNTs with diameter around 30 nm grow from opposing electrodes and touch each other with their outermost shells, typical contact resistances around 16 kΩ are obtained. The corresponding contact resistivity of about 14 Ω μm2 is one order of magnitude smaller than the contact resistivity of a CNT touching the TiN surface with its outermost shell. On the other hand, the contact resistance of a CNT grown from a nickel catalyst particle deposited on a TiN electrode is negligibly small when compared to the above mentioned contact resistances. Our results demonstrate that we are able to grow from opposing electrodes CNTs that touch each other with a corresponding high density (up to 1011 cm−2) of CNT–CNT contacts. This may offer an effective solution towards the growth of low resistance CNT horizontal interconnects.  相似文献

Carbon nanotubes were synthesized via a novel route using an iron catalyst at the extremely low temperature of 180 °C. In this process, carbon suboxide was used as carbon source, which changed to freshly formed free carbon clusters through disproportionation. The carbon clusters can grow into nanotubes in the presence of Fe catalyst, which was obtained by the decomposition of iron carbonyl Fe2(CO)9 at 250 °C under nitrogen atmosphere. The adsorption isotherms of water vapor on super absorbent product have the same form of type III isotherm at ambient temperature with the hysteresis phenomena. For temperatures lower than ambient, the isotherms become deformed because of the chains effect. The polymer is characterized by a multilayer adsorption, which occurs before a full‐course is complete. During adsorption reactions, the polymer undergoes rearrangement polymeric network, which results from a cooperative diffusion of the water molecules and from a chain spacing followed by an expansion of the polymeric network. Three types of water molecules adsorbed on polymer were identified: strongly dependent water, adsorbed water, and the water only trapped between the macromolecular chains. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This research treats a particularly challenging undertaking in carbon nanoscience: controlling the diameter distribution of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) grown using CVD. To do so requires the fabrication of well-separated and monodispersed catalytic metal nanoparticles which can be uniformly distributed on a substrate. We propose a new strategy involving the preparation of a monolayer of chemisorbed nickel acetylacetonate which is shown by infrared spectroscopy and coupled thermogravimetric–mass spectrometry analyses to be anchored to the surface silanol groups of the substrate. After decomposition of this precursor, the nickel remains bonded with these surface silanol groups which upon further heating results in good dispersion of the nanoparticles over the silica surface. Using this catalyst, SWCNTs with a very discrete chiral preference and a narrow diameter distribution were synthesized at moderate temperature. This work thus opens new perspectives for the fabrication of uniform-diameter carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

We developed a direct carbonization strategy to efficiently fabricate mesoporous N-containing carbon nanosheets (N-CNSs) by using polyaniline nanosheets as a carbon precursor. Physicochemical characterizations revealed that the as-synthesized N-CNSs with 5.9 wt.% N species possessed a well-developed mesoporous architecture with large specific surface area of 352 m2 g−1, high mesoporous volume of 0.32 cm3 g−1, and average pore size of ∼5.2 nm. When further utilized as an electrode for electrochemical capacitors, the mesoporous N-CNSs delivered a large specific capacitance of 239 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, and even 197 F g−1 at a high current load of 8 A g−1, indicating its good rate behavior. Furthermore, the capacitance degradation of ∼4% over continuous 5000 charge–discharge cycles at 6 A g−1 further verified its good electrochemical stability at high rates for long-term electrochemical capacitors application.  相似文献
