In this letter, a detailed performance analysis of generalized selection combining GSC(2,3) receivers operating over independent but not necessarily identically distributed (n.i.d.) generalized-K (KG) fading channels is presented. For this class of receivers, a novel closed-form expression for the moments of the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived. This result can be afterwards used to evaluate the outage probability and the average symbol error probability of different signal constellations. Various performance evaluation results are also presented and compared to equivalent simulation ones.  相似文献

Currently one of the most promising techniques for realizing high spectral efficiencies over wireless links is Vertical-Bell Laboratories Layered Space-Time (V-BLAST). This technique employs multi-element antenna arrays at both the transmitter and receiver to increase the spectral efficiency. In contrast to previous work, we consider the performance of V-BLAST in a frequency-selective fading channel. In particular, we investigate the effect of delay spread on V-BLAST with various QAM modulation formats and different numbers of transmit and receive antennas for two types of delay spread distributions. The generalized selection combining (GSC) scheme that adaptively combines a subset of M strongest paths out of L available diversity paths finds applications in several wideband receivers and broadband wireless communications. In this paper, exact closed‐form expressions for the moment generating function (MGF), the probability density function (PDF) and the cumulative density function (CDF) of the GSC(M, L) output signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) in independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) Nakagami‐m fading channels are derived while the fading index is a positive integer. These expressions hold for any M and L and provide a comprehensive framework for performance analysis including the derivation of closed‐form formulas for the average symbol error probability (ASEP) of a broad class of binary and M‐ary modulations, mean combined SNR and the outage probability of GSC(M, L) receiver structures. When the Nakagami‐m fading index is not an integer, the MGF of GSC(M, L) output SNR is derived as an (M − 1)‐fold infinite series. With this MGF, analytical expressions for both the outage probability and error rates can be readily obtained. An easily programmable recursive solution of the MGF of GSC(M, L) output SNR is also outlined for both the positive integer and noninteger fading severity index cases. The tagged user analysis (TUA) is a generic approximate method developed to analyze random access protocols for finite-user finite-buffer systems that avoids complexities of Markovian analysis by using available queueing results. In this paper, TUA method is extended to the analysis of finite buffer S-ALOHA operating over flat fading radio channels when the user population is spatially distributed. The expressions for system performance indices are derived. It is shown that for moderate number of active users, the simulation and analytical results have a close fit.  相似文献

This paper presents the error probability performance for M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (mqam) signalling with L-branch diversity receiver over Nakagami fading channel. Both maximal ratio combining (mrc) and selection diversity combining (sdc) techniques are considered with reference to predetection diversity architecture, in the case of integer values of fading severity and independent fading. Average symbol error probability is analitycally derived in terms of finite sum of Gauss hypergeometric functions for balanced branches with identical values of the fading severity. In particular, performance analysis of sdc for mqam in Nakagami fading is new since it has not been presented in any previous work. Numerical results are presented allowing to identify those operational conditions in which diversity techniques can aid successfully in counteracting the effects of slow and nonselective short-term fading.  相似文献

A class of generalized multicarrier direct sequence code-division multiple-access (MC DS-CDMA) schemes is defined and its performance is considered over multipath Nakagami-m fading channels. The spacing between two adjacent subcarriers of the generalized MC DS-CDMA is a variable, allowing us to gain insight into the effects of the spacing on the bit error rate (BER) performance of MC DS-CDMA systems. This generalized MC DS-CDMA scheme includes the subclasses of multitone DS-CDMA and orthogonal MC DS-CDMA as special cases. We present a unified analytical framework for determining the exact average BER of the generalized MC DS-CDMA system over generalized multipath Nakagami-m (1960) fading channels. The optimum spacing of the MC DS-CDMA system required for achieving the minimum BER is investigated and the BER performance of the system having optimum spacing is evaluated. The resultant BER is compared with that of both multitone DS-CDMA and orthogonal MC DS-CDMA  相似文献

The authors consider a number of topics concerned with coding schemes over fading dispersive channels. They begin with comparing the performance of the energy receiver with the optimum and envelope receivers. Different coding schemes are used to improve the performance. The effect of channel spread on the performance of single-state Reed-Solomon (RS) codes is investigated. Channel information (CI) is discussed as a means for further improvement. The simple erasure criterion used is suboptimal, but gives a measure of the gain that can be achieved by using CI. Of special interest is the use of a concatenated coding technique for forming codes of large distance. Concatenated codes using short RS codes with CI as inner codes and RS outer codes are compared. It has been shown that the improvement obtained by concatenation is significant for overspread channels. This is attributed to the implicit diversity introduced by the channel. Furthermore, a concatenated system using convolutional codes as inner codes performs better than the system using RS inner codes  相似文献

An expression of characteristic function of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for two waves with diffused power (TWDP) fading channel is derived. Using this expression, the expression for the probability density function (PDF) of the output SNR of maximal ratio combining (MRC) receiver is obtained. Expressions for the performance matrix of MRC receiver over TWDP fading channels are also deduced. PDF based approach is followed to derive expressions of outage probability and average symbol error rate for coherent and non-coherent m-ary modulation schemes. Effects of the number of branches M and the fading parameters K and Δ on the system performance are studied. The results obtained are verified by Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

The performance of symbol-sampled receivers is usually evaluated via Forney's finite impulse response (FIR) model for the equivalent channel [discrete-time transversal filter (DTTF)]. This model contains a matched filter, and, thus, requires prior knowledge of the continuous-time channel-impulse response. Therefore, if the channel is continuous and unknown, it is unrealistic to use the DTTF model, which leads to an upper bound on the system performance. Using an alternative model for the equivalent discrete-time channel, where the matched filter is replaced by a receive filter matched to the symbol waveform, we propose a framework to quantitatively investigate the performance loss from a theoretical perspective. A unified discrete channel model from the information source up to the sampler was developed for fading multipath channels. Different methods for adaptive channel measurement was studied. The performance of a discrete matched filter using different adaptation techniques and working over a troposcatter channel is predicted. The literature is relatively sparse in performance analysis of diversity combining schemes over Weibull fading channels, despite the fact that the Weibull distribution is often found to be suitably fit for empirical fading channel measurements. In this paper, we capitalize on some interesting results due to Lieblein on the order statistics of Weibull random variables to derive exact closed‐form expressions for the combined average signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) as well as amount of fading (AF) at a generalized selection combining (GSC) output over Weibull fading channels. We also use some simple AF‐based mappings between the fading parameters of the Weibull distribution and those of the Nakagami, Rice, and Hoyt distributions to obtain the approximate but accurate average SNR and AF of GSC over these types of channels. The performance of binary frequency-shift-keyed communications over frequency-selective wide-sense-stationary uncorrelated-scattering Rayleigh fading channels is discussed. We analyze the impact of a time-varying Rayleigh-fading channel on the performance of an Alamouti transmit-diversity scheme. We propose several optimal and suboptimal detection strategies for mitigating the effects of a time-varying channel, and derive expressions for their bit-error probability as a function of the channel correlation coefficient /spl rho/. We find that the maximum-likelihood detector that optimally compensates for the time-varying channel is very tolerant to time-varying fading, attaining full diversity order even for the extreme case of /spl rho/=0. In contrast, although lower in complexity, the suboptimal schemes suffer a diversity penalty and are thus suitable only for slowly fading channels.  相似文献

Block Markov superposition transmission scheme was used over channels with symmetric alpha-stable (SαS) impulsive noise.Based on the equivalent genie-aided system,the lower bound of the block Markov superposition transmission system was analyzed.Numerical simulations over non-Gaussian impulsive channels with different characteristic exponents show that,in the low bit-error rate region,performance of the block Markov superposition transmission system matches well with the lower bound.Block Markov superposition transmission scheme performs well (with 0.85 dB away from Shannon limits at the BER of 10-5) over non-Gaussian impulsive channels.  相似文献
